A bit too sweet for my liking but the ice cream was great, smooth, creamy, and made right in front of you with some nitrogen magic. The decor is a bit out of place since it has the roof of an old building but with colourful pipes everywhere it's a bit hard to get a good picture for the 'gram, but theres a back wall with all the flavours ever to exist in the shop which was pretty cool to look at while you waited.

I really enjoyed the gelato I've gotten here. It's really cool to see them pour liquid nitrogen into a bowl of milk and the other ingredients in order to make your dessert in front of your eyes. Prices are reasonable and worth the experience. The decor inside is a bit strange though. It looks like a construction site and there aren't many comfortable places to sit and eat.
Penny Christie
I had the cosmopolitan sorbet which was delicious and refreshing. The concept of the store is cool but I just don't get why it's set up like a construction site. The only seating in this place are small ladders and foot stools and the benches where your ice cream creations are made are actually scaffolding which doesn't really make sense. If the place was set up like a science lab it would've made more sense from a design perspective.

Great gelato. Interesting menu. Great place. Good people.

Ive never been to N2. Its pretty cool and fun but they need more tables. Small menu but delicious.. reeses peanut butter version is awesome.
Not bad on the price range. this chain should be seen as a gourmet connisseur ice cream chain rather than a cool yourself down and eat alot of ice cream type chain.. so dont expect huge icecream servings..
But excellent flavours, textures and mix of hot-cold combos!

Me and my friend were served by Min who was the coolest cat in a place of the coolest liquid nitrogen! He gave us the low down on what's good and gave us generous toppings! Give him a raise!!! Will come back for ice cream AND MIN ✨✨🙌🙌

It's cool watching them make ice cream but the novelty wears off and then it's just a really expensive ice cream. I would recommend it for newbies to try it out but you don't really have to go back after the first time
Paul Edwards
This place is cool. They make your ice cream with liquid nitrogen, really yumm flavours too. Not cheap, prices from $7, but delicious
Juliemai1890
The reason why i really like N2 ice cream the most is the fact that the ice cream is made at the place and it is made with nitrogen :) the mood and style of the place is very different but cool. I definitely recommend N2
@burgersnbikinis
Was treated to a Gelato masterclass last night with the cheeky owners of N2! Learnt all about the business, how they come up with flavours and saw first hand how they use nitrogen to make the smoothest Gelato in Sydney!

Were treated to 3 flavours:
Pavlova: gorgeous raspberry, passionfruit and meringue pieces. A fruity textural flavour.
Creme brûlée: incredible! They even torch the top so you can crack into it!
Ferrero: chic hazelnut mix with pieces of crunchy crepe and a choc topping.

Was so inspiring to see how much energy and passion they put into this business! Has made me more of an N2 fan than ever before!
Frankiieshungrytummy
Definitely love N2 and their funky flavours.
This outlet is located on the busy King St. but isn't half as busy as the one in China town.
Service here is okay but most of the time workers seem disinterested.
Prices are dependent on what flavour you get but aren't too bad.
Definitely recommend this place if you're looking for something different.
The interior isn't flash and is looked to be a kind of construction site where customers sit on stools and aluminum ladders.
Leon
I ordered the peanut butter jelly ice cream from N2. The gelato was rough and the texture was unpleasantly interrupted by little bits of nuts which makes it very unsatisfying
PriBarbosaPhoto
Nice place. Very interesting experience. They have creative types of ice cream, even a vegan one. You can see how they prepare the ice cream and it is a very fun place to visit.

If you like photos visit my instagram: PriBarbosaPhoto

A little expensive for an ice cream, but then its nitrogen ice cream and quite a big portion. They change flavour every month i think, which is good so i can try something new everytime.
Nothing special in the taste, but a different concept.

Go here for the show. They make the gelato in front of you using liquid nitrogen. Very cool. The gelato is good, but not as good as The Cow and The Moon.
Insta: @voraciousventures

N2 is one of the most unique gelato spots offered in Sydney where you can see the staff make your gelato using liquid nitrogen. The flavours offered are not your standard flavours which is another plus. The crème brûlée tasted very authentic and they replicated the hard caramelised sugar coating very well.
Ray
Extremely overpriced and way too sweet. My friend and I ordered the mint flavoured ice cream and payed around eight dollars each! The ice cream offered no amazing qualities that set it apart from other ice creameries. In addition, the shop had a very cringe worthy layout that resembled a construction site. Not sure what they were trying to accomplish there.

N2 is probably one of the most coolest ice creamery you will in Sydney. The interior is funky and the way they make their ice cream is very scientific and eccentric!

I had so much fun watching the staff making the ice cream, hehe. I ordered the strawberry gelato with meringue which was very good. The ice cream was super creamy compared to other places which was a new experience.

I will definitely be back in the future for some more goodies!
Nozaira Sultana
I tried their gelato in the parramatta lane festival. They were doing a black star pastry's watermelon cake smashed with vanilla gelato flavour. Sounded interesting, though I tried the other flavour- hazelnut chocolate. The thing about n2 sort of places is that the process of making the gelato, smoke and all that looks good but the taste never matches up to the expectation. It's just average.
Sal Eats Sydney
We came for dessert after dinner and ordered the rafaello, mighty milo and the kaya toastie.

It's interesting watching staff whip up your chosen dessert with the liquid nitrogen. We didn't quite get the construction theme inside either. Not much seating available so we took our gelato to go.

I loved my kaya toastie but wished they used a better quality bread than plain sliced white bread. Milo mug cake was really hot, melting the gelato and the Rafaello gelato didn't have a very strong coconut flavour.

N2 has fun and creative flavour combinations so it's fine to pop in every now and again but at $9 a pop it doesn't give you that flavour hit found in traditional gelato. We'd still return if there's something interesting on the menu.
Issac_eatsalot
Haven't had N2 for 6months since I left Melbourne! Was a nice treat to have. I got the Milo Mofo coz you know. Aussie pride. Was nice and creamy. Good crunch on top!

In Newtown, craving for ice cream, we decided to try this N2 in Newtown to see if it's the same as the one in Darling Harbour. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the same sass as the one in the city. The strange construction site theme using nitrogen just doesn't seem to marry up that well. I don't know... I just didn't get it!
Anyhow, I ordered the vegan mango with sticky rice and I would have to say that it's ok, nothing amazing. I still much prefer the darling harbour one but it was worth trying this N2 out. Can't put my finger on what's missing about this place, but it doesn't have the vibe. Oh well... You can't have it all.
Sophia
Trendy, tasty, and maybe worth trying once for the gimmick. Ultimately though you're paying $9 for a gelato that's not much better than the cluster of gelato stores nearby which are half the price.
Thewhereto
We had just seen a show at the Enmore theatre and were looking for a snack. We didn't have anything in mind and came across N2 Gelato. At first we wondered if it was open, as it looked like a construction zone. I guess this was to add to the theatrics of the place. A cool concept, pardon the pun. They pour liquid nitrogen into the ingredients that will make up the gelato element, the liquid nitrogen evaporates and you are left with the gelato. We ordered the Menkens malty madness which is malt gelato, feulettine waifers, a chocolate dipped doughnut, whipped cream, malt powder, choclolate drizzle and a malteser. Worth stopping by to see and taste this delicious science experiment.
Princess Greedy Guts
For all the hype, this was a fun, cool place to visit but did it love up to my expectations? No... although the ice cream was creamy, smooth & delicious with cool flavours & funky toppings - like the chocolate syringe you inject at your own will, or call me old fashioned but I'd much prefer a good gelato or two. Fun & worth a visit but for me there is no need to return in a hurry or spend tike waiting in the queue on a busy day.
MissPiggyEats
Maybe I am showing my age, but I have nothing good to say about this place.

All of the gelato on offer were VERY expensive - ranging from $7 upwards. Service was not friendly, the gelatos we ordered we all bland in flavour and unless you want to perch on a ladder (!!!) there is no where to sit and enjoy your dessert.

I ordered the Red Velvet - that was supposed to have a cheesecake gelato sandwiched between two red velvet biscuits. The gelato was pretty much just cream flavoured...no discernible cheesecake flavour whatsoever. The biscuits were burnt and awful. It kills me that I paid $9 for this.

The rest of our group were also not overly impressed either. The gelato is basically just cream frozen with N2 (a fun novelty) and the flavour comes from an injection of "whatever" that you do yourself via a syringe stuck into your dessert. The syringes don't seem to hold enough flavour to flavour the ice-cream.

Meh. Total rip off.

Really enjoy this insta gelato joint in Newtown and love it when their Ferrero flavor hits the menu. Easy vibes, delicious gelato and fun looking serves
Manz
I love N2's gelato. They are never boring, favours combination you would not necessary expect. Always intriguingly presented, it is much more than just a scope of gelato. This is my first visit to this outlet, we walked passed & almost missed it. The place was decked out like a construction zone, with mini ladders for chairs. The day's menu was on the black board, but it was hard to read it, with some of the descriptions in tiny print. I got the Ferrero Reveal, which was choc hazelnut gelato with rice bubbles choc top & chocolate sauce. It was totally yum, and wasn't an overload of chocolate at all! My friend had the Pandan Coconut with Sago, which was unusual & refreshing.
Princess_Porky
Good and interesting flavour options. Tasty. I personally find them a bit sweet but my partner loves the ice cream here. I prefer your traditional gelato over these nitrogen based ones. Provided there's no queue or extensive wait, definitely worth trying.
Nora Ng–Na
Good ice cream/gelato/sorbet (with a touch of novelty in chocolate-filled syringe!) but a little on the dearer side. However, part of that surely pays for the N2 and the uniqueness of the product.

Staff are friendly and warm, which is a big plus. As for ambience, this place is at least not as small and cramped as the CBD location; and, for those interested in the performing arts or events, the wall with upcoming concerts and things is a nice touch. Seating is groovily industrial, with ladders, boxes and such available.

All in all, N2 offers a nice concept and the staff are great! However, the limited range of flavours and flavours we are keen on sort of works against them (but also for, because people go to N2 for the whole liquid nitrogen experience, not just any old ice cream/gelato/sorbet). Nevertheless, we would recommend that friends give N2 a go!
Jess
I love the concept of making gelato out of liquid nitrogen, at fist I thought it was overrated and expensive, but not only does N2 sound and look cool but it tastes AMAZING! I've been here 3 times now and it seems to just get better and better. Today I had N2 consisting of Malt Gelato with a choc top and choc syringe; every bite was bliss-filled and had me craving more.
The gelato here is worth the price (the most expensive being $9). The menu changes every week but if you follow them on Instagram they keep you up to date on the flavours being sold.
Highly recommend this place to everyone of any age.
MKC Inc.
I'm not really big on ice-cream but if people are talking about it, I wanna try it. I love the concept of n2 - you walk in and your faced with a few lined up mixers, ice-cream scientists, ingredients and a hell of a lot of liquid nitrogen. The flavour combinations are great but not many fruity ingredients. I still prefer Messina - sorry!
Hungry Minion
Yummy everything. It's my second visit here and both times I've been impressed. The first time I had the red velvet cheesecake (need I say more) but as many of you know the flavours are ever evolving. Tonight I had the white chocolate and lavender fudge. Was incredibly pleasing. My friends had the toasty malt and the banana earl grey. I could have this every night for dessert.
Jen
We had the Kat on krack and it was pretty yummy however there was only 2 people on. One serving and one making the desserts.....being a Friday night and one of their busier nights you would like to think they would have more staff on to service the constant line. The service wasn't the best to be honest however that could have something to do with the fact that there were only 2 staff on.
Eatwithmyfoodsafari
The staff here are much friendlier than the CBD branch. I always enjoy the gelato I get here and always great imagination with the flavours they come up with. I had the Banoffee Pie.
Farah Huq
Luckily there was no queue today and we could give the order in one go. As they change the menu every week this week the banana split was one of the popular options. While the effects with the snowy smoke bellowing made us go aahh the ice cream made me went nahhh. There was a hint of the banana taste but what killed was the extreme saltiness. It tasted good when the balance was in moderation but awful when there was a large salty chunk.
Kelly Smyth
The guys at N2 are so creative with new gelato flavours always popping up on. Their Red Velvet gelato with cream cheese frosting is a sure winner. Mmmm red velvet 🤗
Martin Newman
Less buzzy than the Chinatown outlet, but with the same great ice cream and filling combos. Today: Maple Fudge, Ferrero Reveal & Bouncy Bounty. The Maple Fudge - milk gelato with maple fudge, pecans & chocolate chips. Ferrero Reveal - choc hazelnut gelato, rice bubbles, choc top and a syringe of chocolate. Bouncy Bounty (vegan) - coconut sorbet, cocoa nibs, choc top, desiccated coconut and a choc shot.
Alison Marie Hedley
Quirky little ice cream cafe with a select amount of flavours to try. I had Olive oil and sea salt which was amazinggg! Unusual but it worked! The girl serving us was really friendly and told us about how it was made. Will definitely return!
Sam
What a weird set up! We walked in to the overpowering stench of urine and walked out after 5 full minutes of being ignored. The staff couldn't have cared less.
Black_orange
this place is all about kitsch and appeals to the young uber cool crowd. who else would want to perch on ladders (yes, really) surrounded by nitrogen gas eating sickly sweet gelato with syringes sticking out? the staff also appear to be inadequately prepared for dealing with frozen nitrogen with their bare freezing hands. visit for novelty value only.
Nicole
Overated gelato. On king st there are much better options. Its all a gimick. The price is inflated and the taste is not worth it. Customer service is also not good. Also the fact they are so inflexible to change anything about your order. Ie if you want a topping on a sorbet you are told its just not allowed!! seems crazy! as a local I know just a short walk down the street you will find better value and taste elsewhere.

The proof of the pudding is not always in the eating. Sometimes it is found in the customer service.
Had a sour cherry compote, milk gelato and chocolate fudge thingy here tonight. (It said MILK GELATO on the board, not milk chocolate,) The attraction, for me, was the sour cherry. it is a very distinctive taste that I like so that it came with anything chocolate was just a cross I was prepared to bear. The whole bucket tasted like a rather nondescript, weak chocolate iced confection, with chunks of chocolate fudge. What happened to the sour cherry compote was anyone's guess. I looked closely for evidence of the elusive sour cherry compote, but none was to be found, There may have been fragments but were not discernible. The taste was sweet, cheap chocolate.
I took it up to the counter to ask after the sour cherry compote - as I would have expected it to be a clear and distinctive flavour.
Well, gag me with a spoon. The woman behind the service bench could not have been less interested. It was mixed in, I was told. The fact that it tasted of monochromatic chocolate meh was of little concern. I, politely, pointed out that it could not be tasted at all. My concern was dismissed out of hand. The problem must be mine in not being able to appreciate the nuanced creation, not that she was the one who made it; I had watched. Not sure she'd know a nuance though, my words not hers
I left it at the counter, but now I rather wish I'd just dropped it on the floor.
The fact of the matter was that the ice cream I had bought had no taste of sour cherry, compote or otherwise. And the woman behind the bench, in response to what was a polite enquiry, was dismissive and rude. I'm sure they rarely get returns, and I had never been dissatisfied with their products before, but that wraps up any interest I have to ever waste my time, or money, there again.

Perhaps N2 can review their security footage to observe that I was neither impolite nor aggressive in any way. Look for the old bastard, with the plaited goatee, after 9:30pm.
Chomper Stomper
I just wasted $8 and a second visit to N2 extreme gelato. The first time I went I ordered the sorbet and when I asked for some toppings I was blatantly refused, even though I'd offered to pay for it. I just thought the staff were being rude.
So I thought I'd try my luck again at the Newtown store. The only sorbet flavours they had on offer were vanilla or mocha.
I opted for the mocha which tasted like watered down coffee, I didn't even get through half of it. I asked for toppings and once again I was refused.
I emailed N2 and they replied saying how they didn't want their flavours ruined by rogue toppings as though I couldn't make my own decision on what tasted good.
One of the toppings would've saved my gelato, not tainted it. Biggest waste of money and rudest service ever.

Sooooo good. Went on a Saturday night but it wasn't too busy. Seeing your ice cream being made in front of you is the best thing. Sauce in the syringes was just delish.
Lily Mayne
I love this place with a passion! Every time I'm out on King Street at night I will come and treat myself to some ice-cream! The flavours change frequently and it keeps you interested in trying the new ones. My only dislike is the prices have gone up recently. Instead of the most expensive ice-creams being $7, they're now $9. I don't really want to pay $10 for a small dessert I'll eat in a minute.
James
Always pleased with the selection of flavours - there'll probably be something you'll like! It changes regularly but the Ferrero Reveal is quite reliable and regular.
Andrea_scerri
Awesome surprise!. We walked past this place on our way back from dinner to newtown station. So glad we stopped to look! What a great concept!! The icecream was awesome too. I feel like this place will do really really well! Good work guys.

Traditionally you would make your way over to the savoury hot foods but tonight was an exception due to N2 and B lack Star Pastry collaborating to make a "The Cake Smash". Its the glorious combination of the famous Strawberry Watermelon Cake along with N2's nitrogen gelato.

N2′s here in Newtown now and it comes as no surprise to nobody that they’re doing gangbusters and packed. Combo the great gimmick with good instafreeze gelato; and the spectacle of billowing cold air? The other gelato joints watch out. This is a game changer.

There’s been many comments about it tasting very different and really good. We arrived with very few people, I guess that was good since we were in a hurry to a group meeting. There were two people dressed in laboratory clothes and goggles. And also two large cans filled with nitrogen! Their secret ingredient. I saw one of the guys fill the mixing blender with nitrogen and I could feel the coldness to it! We were also able to get a tasting of some caramel flavour.

N2 Extreme Gelato has arrived to Newtown! That means that I don’t have to go all the way to Chinatown for my instantly frozen gelato (and sorbet). This shop has a building theme going on that is not obviously deliberate: two of my friends have asked if they were renovating. The novelty is not only on the way of producing the gelato but also in the flavours. You can submit flavour ideas in their website, and can find a mix of conventional and wacky combinations on the menu. The first time we went we tried the New Kid in Newtown (yuzu coconut sorbet, cocoa [sic] nibs, kaffir lime + coconut syringe, freeze dried mandarin). I loved the crunch of the cacao nibs and the creamy texture of the sorbet. The flavour combination wasn’t extreme by any means but it was nice. New Kid in Newtown ($8) The second time we had a good mango sorbet and the Bouncy Bounty (coconut sorbet + cocoa nibs + shredded coconut), chocolate top, shredded coconut, vegan chocolate ganache syringe). I liked the Bounty better than the New Kid, again loved the texture added by the crunchy nibs and shredded coconut. Also, the choc ganache was awesome! Mango sorbet ($6), Bouncy Bounty ($8) Our friend got The Big Cheese (vanilla cheesecake gelato, shortbread crumbs, maple whipped cream, salted caramel syringe). He said it was good buy too cheesy for him. The Big Cheese ($8) N2 Extreme Gelato 184 King Street Newtown NSW 2042 n2extremegelato.com.au View Larger Map
