Review Sourdough Panini Bakery & Bar - Sydney

The long queue at breakfast or lunchtime is a pretty good indicator why this is a Surry Hills institution. Definitely a must visit if you are looking for pastries, bread or a coffee. The pies, sausage rolls, and croissants are excellent and if you have a sweet tooth I recommend the chocolate sour cherry cookie, lemon curd tart, and the ginger crème broulee are excellent choices. It’s takeaway only so grab a picnic rug and enjoy the food nearby on the grass. And to avoid the long queue, best to go before 12pm!

I had a lemon curd tart and ginger brûlée tart . Love how the ginger tart tasted. It’s not overpowering sweet nor the texture is different. It has a delicate crispy texture and crunchy top layer. Overall it was good. Not the fan of the lemon tart, although the lemon in the middle is so smooth, the pastry is crunchy and perfectly blended not too sweet. I still prefer the ginger. It is quite on the pricey side though. The tarts are $6 and the chocolate drink is $5 😳 !

Quiet little corner spot. I noticed a queue but it moves fast so have your order ready. Be early or things will be sold out. Great coffee, delicious sourdough bread, and friendly staff.

Lovely place with nice staff and yummy treats. The red wine brisket pie was amazing, and the coffee is one of my favourite in Sydney. There was quite a line when we went but it was worth the wait. Will happily be back again to try more of their food for brunch as they look so good. Currently only doing takeaway but had a nice picnic at the nearby park

Excellent quiche, egg flavour was soft on the inside with a hard but not flaky crust. Perfect quiche. The croissants were amazing and the coffees went well with them all. Pastries to die for.

I love the Bourke St Bakery. I have often had a coffee and something to eat after a run, sitting in the park opposite. The food is great, the service is just as great. I love everything about the place. Well worth a visit.

Pastries to die for. Loved eating their crossiant and pear danish! This place is definitely worth the line up.

Great coffee and bakery! There’re many types of bakery. Shop looks cosy and staffs are friendly! Ginger tart is recommended.

OMG This wholemeal Toast was best ever I've had in Sydney. Crispy and Soft. I'll try another one later. Highly recommed.

Nice little cafe/sandwich roll shop. Had the meatball panini. Good amount/variety of fillings. Bread was nice and crunchy. Really small shop with a little seating area outside

Ordered off Hey You and went with a workmate to this hole in the wall eatery. There was a special on their Premium Meatball Sandwich With Napoletana. The sandwiches were ready when we arrived and they had a few chairs and tables so we decided to eat our sandwiches there. Service is friendly. The bread was nice and crunchy on the outside but had a soft interiors. Meatballs were flavoursome and combined with cheese, napoletana sauce, pesto, and aioli, it was a delicious match and definitely worth the walk there in the heat.

Came here to purchase meal for take away. I had the premium meatball panini. Service was friendly, quick and efficient. The meal was quite tasty and came in good size.

Super friendly staff and cheap but good coffee. Super convenient location for me - just right outside my bus stop! Food is also very affordable here - would recommend!

Excellent coffee and bread, and quick service. The bacon and egg roll in the mornings are great- two eggs, short cut bacon and your choice of bread with bbq mayo, combine with a large coffee for only $8.

Small sidewalk frontage that's easily missed if you don't pay attention. My takeaway soy cap was smooth and well made. They use Campos beans which I'm partial to as the resulting coffee is pretty consistent from cafe to cafe.

Cracking lunch rolls here made fast and fresh. Bread had a great crunchy crust and soft interior and the crew are generous with the fillings. $10 well spent to get you through the work afternoon.

This place is what bacon and egg dreams are made of. Bacon and eggs are my favourite breakfast treat, whether I'm sober, hungover, brunching or dinner-ing, they suit every occasion in my life.

We all know it starts with the bread, and sourdough deliver a bloody good bread slathered in a delicious BBQ mayo, my heart was so happy.

The bacon was crispy and plentiful and the eggs cooked to perfection. I do prefer my eggs to be fried, so that would be the only downfall of this masterful bacon and egg roll. Great coffee and super friendly service.

This little coffee kiosk is super popular with people hovering every morning. I finally had the opportunity to pick up a coffee from their one day and it was wonderful! The staff are lively and extremely efficient! Definitely would like to return to sample their food.

Only tried the coffee here so far, but it's very well made using campos beans. Loved it and definitely plan to return. Haven't tried the food but my partner used to grab his sandwiches here when he worked nearby.

Just thinking about the smoked salmon sourdough roll makes me feel slightly ill. It wasn’t the roll – it was the insides. The smoked salmon was over plentiful, and the balance of fillings was not correct. The sourdough was fantastic. I’d like to try a different filling, but I don’t think I’d bother going back. Try out Encasa Deli on Bathurst Street for a fantastic “boccadillo” that you wont regret. View Larger Map Tagged: sourdough , Sydney

the Reuben possesses an interesting, yet unique taste. It seem healthy light and quite flavoursome to ones taste buds.

Although it's not a café designed for long term comfort, customers seem happy to sit there for a while, and on each of my visits

This little hole in the wall is by the entrance of an office building and seating is quite limited to a handful of stools off the footpath. The coffee is pretty decent here as well.

Love the coffee here. Staff are friendly and service is always quick in my experience.

Worst service. It was Sunday morning planned for wonderful brunch but these guys ruined everything. To start with, they don't give table number or anything and guys come out holding plates, scream numbers and serves whoever puts their hands up without confirming. They served our order to someone else. After enquiring we waited waited waited for 30 mins they served in chipped plate (photo attached) without cutlery. Terrible service wouldn't recommend. there were 3 guys in the cafe running like headless chickens.

SOURDOUGH, FOR F SAKE GIVE TABLE NUMBERS TO THE CUSTOMERS.

Delicious paninis. I tried their chicken schnitzel with slaw and aioli the other day and it was absolutely delicious! A bit messy to eat so arm yourself with a box of tissues beforehand, but so worth every bite! Will be coming back here!

Great coffee, great sourdough. Small cafe on York Street that is definitely worth trying out

Melts in your mouth. I can't profess to be a Reuben connoisseur but whatever they're doing here - I like it. I've only ever ordered takeaway - the wait can be a bit on the longish side but I find that its worth it. The panini melts in your mouth, love how the flavours of the sauer krat, provolone, beef and sourdough meld together with each bite. Yum. That's all I can say.

Bad taste in my mouth. If you don't mind jostling to the counter and then wegding yourself somewhere to wait for your take away order, then this is the place for you!

Always seems busy so you assume food must be good, well not for me. The menu isn't big but that's a good thing too many choices, can be confusing. I ordered the Rueben, sounds great sauerkraut, gerkins etc all looking good.

Place the order and the indifferent waiter asks if I'm ok with rye & carraway seed bread, sounds good. Get back to my desk to chow down and find the sandwich is fine if you only want the meat component, but so sparce on anything else am totally disappointed. One slitter of gerkin what appears to be a tablespoon of cabbage. I'm sure I have the wrong order.

Take it back convinced something went wrong. The indifferent waiter exclaims I told you it was bread. Pal the bread wasn't the issue you lack of quality control sending out food that is less than appealing is the problem, and no I don't want a replacement if what I'd get was the same lousy offering again.

Will not be going back, once is definitely enough!

Food is fantastic... But the staff don't do any favours

The attitude. Great food, great selection and good value for money but totally agree with previous posts from Crazie Gal and Foodforfire, something needs to be done about this rude girl who "serves" at the take away counter!
Never a Hello, never a Thank you, never a smile...the boss definitely needs to know about this.
All my team used to go there but since this new girl started we go less and less.
I have worked in hospitality before and know what it is like when you have a bad day and have to deal with customers but she has the same condescending attitude every day.
Honey you need to get another job!
Foodforfire
The service. This cute little place has the BEST meatball panini..absolutely delicious! The bread is amazing and the flavours are great! cant fault it. Ive had the reuben panini as well and that one is also a must try.
I must point out however that there is one lady who works there who is awful. Our whole office knows about her and each and everyone one of us has experienced extremely rude customer service from her. Her attitude is so bad sometimes I avoid going there if she is serving, its honestly that BAD! Not once does she smile, she talks and serves you like you owe her something...very bad..and intimidating attitude. To the boss, ask anyone and im sure you will get the same response, she is offensive

Best Sandwich Ever. Absolutely loved the panini sandwich, had the meatball and chicken snitzel. It doesn't get better than this, can't wait to go back!!

Top Service?! Come On!. While the food and coffee is good at times, the service is not. I lined up to order a coffee and was talked over by the server, ordering the other person's coffee behind me first. All because I am not a regular and am not on a first names basis with them!
It was a traumatising experience, I got barked at to pick up my coffee and food order. When I picked up the wrong bag of food, if she could've hit me, she probably would've.
I don't normally go there, but when I have gone, I often feel stressed and traumatised from my experience. The coffee is not worth this stress.

The New Colluzi. Sourdough is a great new addition to the Sydney coffee scene. The service is very friendly and efficient and the Campos coffee always leaves me wanting a second! There's also a very modern menu. Well done!

Yum. Great coffee, top service and awesome food. I need to drop past at least 3 times a day to get my fix, and don't know how I survived without the lads at Sourdough.
KONSTAP
Refreshingly simple and good.. It's about the exceptional traditional sourdough bread and complimentary fillings and the great coffee.

Fast, friendly and filling - value!

A surprising hole-in-the-wall.
