Review Grand Duk - Sydney

Serendipitous! Just happened to spot the place while walking around for breakfast. Beautiful doshes, just the right portion size. Friendly and quick service too. Just wonderful!

Awesome location and ambiance. The breakfast options are legit and they get the coffee right all the time. Kudos to the friendly staff!

Had coffee and lunch here on a weekday and was pleasantly surprised. The lunch deals with 2 side and 1 protein (I also added 1 more protein) were great value and the serving size was very impressive. I usually eat every bit of food on my plate but only managed to eat half of it before being full. The variety of sides was satisfying too, I opted for veggies and mushroom pasta. The only complaint would be that my matcha latte was way too sweet. Will definitely go back again!

Charming little cafe in Grosvenor place with outdoor seating. If its cold they offer blankets to keep you warm too. Service is friendly and efficient and there are food to order from the menu or design your own plate with all the offerings displayed nicely in the windows. There is a great variety of food to choose from and all looked appetising and fresh. I chose the braised lamb, chicken schnitzel, fries and chorizo pasta on this occasion. Generous portions and lamb was very tender and flavoursome and chicken schnitzel crispy. Pasta was also good and fries were soggy as it was on the bottom of the plate but it was fine. Coffee is good as was the brownie. A lovely spot for a casual, tasty and relaxing meal.

If there is any place I need to go to for a good, healthy, well balanced breakfast or lunch that serves great coffee or herbal tea (rooibos is my favourite), Grand Duk is my default place and this is despite all the new restaurants that have opened and are opening up in Sydney CBD. In my experience, Grand Duk has always offered a consistent and high standard of food and service over the years I've been there since it opened a few years back which keeps me drawing me back to them. They know my name and what coffee or drink I like, whether I want soy or almond milk. The service staff will bend over backwards for you to ensure you are happy with your visit. I love there selection of salads during lunch time and the flexibility to choose what you want. Price is very reasonable too.

Great prices for great food and coffee! Very generous portion with the meat and two sides option.

Run amok at Grand Duk! A nice corporate cafe with excellent outdoor seating. The food here is also delicious and the coffee consistent. The other consistency would have to be the friendly service and upbeat staff :) here is a photo of their nice coffee cups (it looks like two different hands but plot twist they come from the same person) #EddyCReviews

I’m usually satisfied with their coffees (I guess it was my third time there). However, when going there yesterday, I ordered a regular long black. All good, you would think, right? I got sugar in my coffee unsolicitedly. Not a big deal for many I suppose, but I don’t appreciate that just because I didn’t explicitly tell them to leave out the sugar, they put sugar in my coffee. Otherwise, a very nice place and the interior is lovely, too :))

Some colleagues and I looked for a nearby cafe serving brunch and stumbled cross Grand Duk, a unique, tuckshop like food stall that also offers brunch menus. Today we opted for the canteen style meal of two mains and two sides, myself picking the pulled pork, ginger chicken, Portuguese chicken salad and sweet potato salad.

The food here is best described as homely, with a really modern Asian fusion taste. I didn't know they were a Vietnamese styled restaurant until I landed on the zomato page now, however I particularly enjoyed the pulled porks aromatic flavour paired with the fresh sweet potato, and a tender chicken.

Homely, good, hearty food that I would recommend in an outdoor goldcoast like ambience. Fast service as well (less than a minute receiving food)!

Food: 4/5
Service: 4/5
Ambience: 4/5
Value: 3.5/5

Overall: 4/5

Had the lemon, ginger and honey tea and it warmed up my cold morning.

Great location and lovely staff.

Little alfresco space if you want to fight the cold.
The cafe is beautiful and it has nice outdoor seats. Staff were friendly too. BUT I have to say the meatlover omelette I ordered was the worst omelette I have had for a very long time. The omelette was very heavy on cheese. I don’t know what kind of cheese it was but it smelled and tasted awful. The omelette was pretty big though.
The duck on the napkin was cute. Coffee was good.
Just don’t order the omelette.

Best sliders I have had for a looong time! Come after 3 pm to get a taste of the $3 Spicy Chicken slider during happy hour! The morning coffee is just as awesome!

Tucked away within the Grosvenor Place Piazza, Grand Duk is a charming little restaurant that delivers an Asian inspired fusion of modern Australian and French food, in a relaxed and casual dining environment.

Grand Duk scores highly in service, quality and consistency.

The service is warm, friendly, inviting and the staff are quick to attend to you, whether take away or table service. Over the dozens of times I've dined here, there have only been a few instances of incorrect orders being processed by the takeaway kitchen staff, but was promptly resolved with no hassles.

.The quality of the food and beverages served are of a very high standard and the prices are reasonable. I am often here for a coffee fix and the baristas can be seen putting a lot of love and effort in their creations.
The lunch time combo deals are excellent value for money at $12.90 for a main and two side. I have tried all their mains and while the options are limited, each dish stands out individually; the flavours are clear and the ingredients are fresh. There's an equally interesting set of salads should you wish for a healthy option. My favourite food items would be the bacon & egg wrap and the 12-hours braised lamb; excellent dishes that speak volumes in flavour and served in manageable portions..In terms of the ambiance; the design is bright, contemporary and with amply seating options. However, the service counter area can get quite crowded during busy times, as the waiting area shares space with the staff picking coffee & kitchen orders as well as other customers waiting in line to order.

.Overall, the service of the staff and quality of the food at Grand Duk has been very consistent; making the customer experience a very enjoyable one. Whether it's for coffee or to dine, Grand Duk is an excellent option within the Rocks and I would highly recommend paying a visit.

Dinner menu was way too simple.

Chicken/Beef Pho
And
Ask waiter for today special.

I was thinking... what's going on?

Located at Grosvernor Place, ( Note for Zomato team, its at the Rocks, and not in CBD)😝
I think because of the construction of light rail along George street, some business has got the impact.

Back to the food, so we ordered both pho, chicken and beef.

Personally Beef Pho taste super tasty.
You can taste the beef broth has been perfumed with star anise, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon and ginger.
On top of that sprig of coriander and basil also present with some beans sprout as a garnished.

Chicken Pho doesn't have a strong characteristic broth, like beef, however the generous amount of chicken pieces make up for it.
We went to Grand Duk for a team lunch. Most of us opted for the lunch set which lets you choose a protein main and two sides. I went with the waiter's suggestion of the pulled pork main, and steamed Asian vegetables and Italian salad as my sides. The food came quickly and was a good serving for the price. While the food wasn't amazing, it was solid and tasty. One minor quibble was that I wish it was served hotter especially as it was a cold day. But everyone was satisfied with their meals. The burgers were also well received, as well as the duck fat wedges which were beautifully fluffy inside but retained a crisp exterior. Besides the quick service, the menu also caters to various dietary needs. Lots of space and large tables, though most are exposed to the weather so I'm not sure what it would be like if it's raining. A few more outdoor heaters in winter wouldn't hurt either. Overall, would definitely recommend for casual group lunches (and they've also recently started dinner).
Hello Miss May
Grand Duk is a chic place to have lunch in Sydney CBD. We had a lovely brunch here sometime ago and I still remember how delicious everything we had was. I adore the interior of Grand Duk. It's got beautiful marble table tops (perfect for flatlays) and plush deep green leather seating.

I'm loving Eggs Benedict with Seared Salmon, The Breakfast Bowl, Avocado Lime and Coriander Smash, Salt and Pepper Squid, rice rolls - Sichuan Duck, Tiger Prawn and Spice Tofu & Enoki, served with hoisin peanut dip.

My favourite has got to be Coconut Yoghurt Chia Pot. It was light, creamy and delicious. Loving the desiccated coconut and blueberry toppings.

We finished our brunch off with dessert. Can't say no to dessert! Deep Fried Ice Cream was crunchy on the outside, and melts in your mouth at first bite.

For more cute Instagram food pix, find me
@hellomissmay

and more food adventure on the blog
hellomissmay.com

Does this look like a restaurant to you? I think that’s definitely part of the charm of this breakfast and lunch eatery in the CBD right in the middle of Grosvernor Place across George Street from the cool new Ernst & Young building. It’s a very urban location with tables underneath glass parasols.

Celebrated the end of a client engagement with breakfast at the Grand Duk with my senior. Usually only ordered coffee at this place before heading back upstairs, but we had time to spare on a Friday morning today! Service was average, nothing amazing, got seated after waiting a while without being served, but that's fine.

We both ordered the brekky's nest ($15), and wasn't expecting much. What we were served, was quality food for a quality price. Definitely would order again if possible! Nothing too special in the cappuccino, but the food more than makes up for it. The photo speaks for itself.

Definitely would recommend! Especially if you work around Circular Quay.

While Grand Duk is not strictly Vietnamese, a light meal of banh mi thit prepared fresh are available for takeaway. Available also is a range of breakfast dishes you’ve come to expect from Sydney - Breakfast bowl – poached eggs, green leaves, nuts and seeds, avocado, pickles a tumble of salad or the light and flavourful King salmon tartare vietnamese flavours, fresh herbs, served with shrimp crackers

For a leisurely lunch in the city, we were invited to try the amazing eats at Grand Duk, a wonderful fusion Vietnamese-French restaurant near Wynyard!. We started our meal with a chai latte and green juice. Grand Duk creates its own chai blend especially for the restaurant, and the spices and flavours really shone through! It’s served in a cute teapot, which we loved! The juice was light and refreshing, and a great healthy option on the menu as well.

The Grand Duk is a contemporary breakfast and brunch spot on George street in the middle of downtown Sydney. With ample outdoor seating and a satisfying French Vietnamese fusion menu it has something for everyone's tastes. Coconut Yoghurt Chia Pot. The Coconut Yoghurt Chia Pot is perfect if you're after a light meal. Very refreshing and not overly sweet. It's very satisfying paired with one of there freshly squeezed juices on the side.
I Ate My Way Through
Having opened in October on George St towards The Rocks, she has created a new look menu inspired by her Vietnamese heritage with a selection of fusion dishes and menu classics to please everyone’s tastes. The modern interior is bright with skylights welcoming natural light from above and a cool bar with shelves of wine bottles lining the curved glass exterior. Office-goers come and go for their coffee fix and takeaway lunches, whilst business meetings and lunch catch-ups take place on the plentiful tables and chairs inside and out.

This place is fantastic. The food and ingredients is fresh and the customer service is very attentive. The menu is very vietnamese influenced made up with lots of delicious flavours that will make your tastebuds sizzle. I highly recommend the King salmon tartare and the banh mi.

Smash your morning with an extremely delightful brunch with all your favourite dishes made with a touch of Vietnamese flavours. Squeeze in a taste of tangy with one of the best avocado on toast dishes I have ever had, along with the refreshing breakfast plate. Continue to sear with the delicate king salmon tartare and the other highlight dish, the creamy and smoky seared salmon eggs benedict. Melt your taste buds with even more delicious dishes and keep reading below…

Delicious Vietnamese flavours! I came here for brunch and it was absolutely delightful. It's hidden from the bustling George St and its open space creates a very relaxed atmosphere. Highlights for me were the seared salmon eggs benedict, king salmon tartare and avocado on toast! Keen to go back to sample more of their menu.

Grand Duk firstly opened its door as a sleek bistro in the heart of the CBD serving modern Vietn. Vietnamese Through Parisian Lense at Grand Duk - CBD. Grand Duk firstly opened its door as a sleek bistro in the heart of the CBD serving modern Vietnamese dishes with a French twist. I heard at first the menu focuses more on the slow cooked dishes like its sibling, the Naked Duck, but then Amy Lee, the owner, has decided to launch a new all day menu with some seasonal specials alongside their signature Grand Duk coffee blend supplied by Toby's Estate.

Vanessa: In a city that is overwhelmed with an abundance of food choices, having a point of difference is key and Grand Duk in Sydney’s CBD has just that. With a focus on Vietnamese cuisine with a French twist, Grank Duk is shaking things up from the norm when it comes to their menu options. You won’t find a pho here but what you will find is a seasonal menu that uses local, high quality produce to create a unique menu that pays homage to the culture of the cuisine.

Love this place! Service is efficient & friendly and the coffee is fantastic. Food is pretty good, a great range of Vietnamese food, although the bread roll for the Bahn Mi is unbelievably tough - authentic, but i now avoid.

Make sure to try their sweets - delicious!
Princess_Porky
I love anything Vietnamese so was very excited to check out this French Vietnamese restaurant in the CBD. Absolutely stunning looking restaurant with gorgeous outdoor (but sheltered) seating. Makes for very good looking photos 😆 The food was great. Some very traditional, some with a slight twist. They also have a range of typical brekky items (eg muesli) so the menu appears to be quite versatile. Absolute favourites: berry muesli for brekky, the ginger salmon, duck rice paper rolls and duck meatball banh mi for lunch. And definitely the deep fried ice cream for dessert. Be sure to try the Vietnamese affogato. The coffee is brewed liked Vietnamese coffee but they don't appear to use condensed milk so it's not as sugary sweet as normal Vietnamese coffee. Therefore goes perfectly with ice cream. Oh and try their cold drip. They have their own house blend with Toby's Estate which I really enjoyed.

If there is on thing that keeps me coming back to Grand Duk over the many CBD options, I'd say it was the service. Exceptional. That's not to say that the food is ordinary. It is a brilliant fusion of Vietnamese flavours and traditional recipes, with a touch of modern Australian.

As the name would suggest, duck is their specialty - and they do it well. The friend chicken burger is delicious as well, but bring some tissues, it's pretty damn spicy.

Really enjoyed my trip to Grand Duk, so much that I came back again the following day! The service is brilliant and they make a fabulous aperol spritz. With a selection of $5 beers on Friday's and a great menu and ambience, it's definitely worth stopping by.

Just one thing, the fried chicken burger needs to have a chilli warning - it is bloody spicy!
Nourishment Bowl
Great spot, good service and yummy food. Had the cauliflower fritters were delicious and very filling. The aperol spritz are perfect and the service is spot on.

What a hidden gem! A brand new addition to the CBD dining scene, Grand Duk brings you asian fusion with melt in your mouth dishes. Everything, even down to the chairs was absolutely fantastic.
We were treated to an array of different yet complimenting dishes during our visit, all with enticing flavours and incredibly fresh ingredients.
The pork belly just melted off your fork while the duck burger made your mouth just water! As the name would explain, the menu has a array of duck and duck inspired dishes that are all just delicious. Being an almost brand new restaurant, Grand Duk has a modern and airey ambience with a slick, shinny and class fit out make it very cool and shady, great for a summer lunch on a schorching day.
Kis The Cook
This chic venue on Grosvenor place has just recently opened. Adding Asian fusion to the dining scene in CBD. The slow cooked pork belly breaks apart with your fork and melts in your mouth. Hand cut sweet potato fries and my all time favourite waffle fries are on point.
The slow cooked lamb with Panko crumbs looked divine as was the fish and chips. Lots of variety to suit any taste. Great for an office lunch.
Simply Starving
Nestled back off Grosvenor Street, Grand Duk has a lot to offer. I came here with my work colleagues for lunch and we were very impressed! The staff are friendly and attentive, the atmosphere is warm and the interiors are on point. The food was delicious and the burger was the stand out! Will definitely be back - recommend if you're looking for something more than a foodcourt or chain in the city.

I just discovered this great little Vietnamese fusion restaurant! Situated in the heart of the city, this place is perfect for a business or social lunch! Food is beautiful and service first class! Must try duck burger, duck salad and slow cooked lamb! Will be back again for sure!

I usually come to this place everyday with my colleagues. Coffee and food are always amazing. Their staff are extremely friendly and energetic. Great place for office meeting as well as friends catch up.

I usually only get take away from here, but the service is great. The coffee is good, but it seems they're just a little stingy on the food. Avo on toast seems pretty simple, yet they put as much avocado on their toast as I do Vegemite on mine. Thought I'd mix it up with a granola this morning and am now sitting here eating dry nut mix as there was only about a tablespoon of yoghurt on the top. When you're paying a reasonable price for your breakfast, you don't expect to have to add your own yoghurt or avocado to it. Simple to fix, and I hope they do.

Great environment and food! Bit too windy when sitting outside. Really nice glass of wine. ( but didn't like the fact that they used stemless wine glasses) Went for lunch with a friend, very nice m ambience and suitable for long lunches before heading back to the office.
Cowardcafe
Lovely open space, their coffee is amazing.( and the friendly baristas made my day)..
Yummy breakfast and lunch, I definitely will be back.

Highly recommended.
