Took the family out to try Quanjude. Have heard lots of good things about their peking duck, so was keen to try it.
From the yum cha menu we tried: Pot stickers, Salt and pepper calamari, Tofu century egg, Chilli chicken, Prawn dumpling, Scallop dumpling, Vegetables, Dried noodle with beef, and Egg custard bun. I couldn't really fault any of the yum cha dishes - quality ingredients and full if flavour. The pot stickers were my favourite.
Now for the main course... The Signature Peking Duck was $88 and consisted of 3 courses. The first was my fave and consisted of skin & sugar. The staff told me to eat it straight away and skip the photos - it did not disappoint and was crispy and flavoursome. The second course consisted of the duck meat pancakes (with traditional condiments). I loved how delicately sliced each piece of duck was tp provide a good ratio of meat to skin. The third course was the duck soup with veggies. Overall I found that this duck contained very little fat compared to other peking duck places ( I think its because they hang the ducks to dry so the fat drips out and you are left with flavour).
Other dishes I tried include: Deep fried barramundi (whole fish that has had the bones removed), Slow braised pork belly, Seafood hot and sour soup and Quanjude fried rice.
The venue was centrally located at World Square, Sydney. Plenty of seating for groups and families, as well as some smaller rooms for privacy. Overall, this is a great venue for family or friends. The food is good quality and service was attentive. Will definitely be back for the duck!.
Amidst the chaos of the COVID-19 outbreak it saddens me to see the fall of businesses especially Chinese restaurants. Remember to support your local restaurants as they are all struggling during this time!
The hospitality at Quanjude was honestly great. I do commend the staff for all the effort they put into recommending dishes and even taking us on a tour of the place, showing us all the thought that was put into the interior design of the restaurant, truly great experience!
Dishes ordered: (👍 = Highly recommended)
- Signature Peking Duck (served with pancakes for and soup) 👍
- Pipis (served with vermicelli noodles) 👍
- Sweet and sour Barramundi 👍
- Wok-fried lamb with cumin seeds
- Crispy bean curd with assorted mushrooms
- Chicken with vegetables
- Pink Lemonade
- Tropical Punch
- Mojito 👍
- Signature Cocktail 👍
I learnt a lot at Quanjude including the best way to eat duck skin is when it's nice and hot with sugar 😱 I recommend Quanjude for anyone who is after an authentic chinese dining experience. I will definitely be back to try more of their large menu!
⭐️Quan Jude is known for their Peking Duck which originated back in 1864. The crispiness & subtle fruity flavour of the skin and tender meat is from the preparation many centuries back - using open ovens and non- smoky hardwood fuel. Come try their iconic crispy duck and many of their other dishes if you’re around the Sydney CBD area!

Renown for its Peking Duck & high quality fine Chinese food, @quanjudesydney is a well established eatery from China. Here I got to savour the plumpest and most amazing crab 🦀 (in claypot glass noodles), Dong Bo Rou (braised pork belly) and some fabulous Peking Duck pancakes! To sum it up this meal was impeccable and can’t wait for go back and try out some of their other dishes!
The place has a really nice ambience, traditional chinese, the staff are very friendly and foods are absolutely amazing. Would recommend the sweet and sour barramundi, XO PIPI and the pecking duck. Would definitely go back to Quanjude. 10/10 experience for me
Really enjoyed the Quanjude experience. Came on a Groupon($40). Staff were very organised and attentive, providing menus and advice on the dishes. Plenty of laps to pick up plates and deliver quickly (maximum waiting time was likely 15 minutes). Plates were beautiful porous earthenware with splatters and really elevated the dining experience. Especially loved the cold chicken, peanut cabbage salad and the spinach dumplings. Tea was very warm and served in a large batch. Would return again although was not a fan of the Peking duck pancakes served.
Pre-Booked Reservation: Myself and 5 others came to Quanjude on a $200 credit Scoopon deal. We were initially seated at a table of 12 for some reason. After asking wether they had a table for 6 they did so we asked to move and they allowed us to so we all started off a bit confused as to why we weren't placed on that table to say the least. So we ordered ALOT of food and most of the food came at the same time. We started off by ordering 2 lots of 6 peking duck pancakes. The waitress advised that its probably better we order the half duck as it will give us the same amount of pancakes plus fried duck at the end. So this way we got more meat which was nice of her to do, We then ordered the standard fried rice, Mongolian lamb, pork and fennel dumplings and the wok fried Wagu beef with wasabi. Fried rice wasn't great(bit bland) but everything else was lovely! The peking duck pancakes were very nice but i wasn't much of a fan for the fried duck bones at the end. The group all really enjoyed it. At the end of the night all the above along w/ 3 coronas and 2 cokes equated to $215. Not bad! Probs wouldn't return for dinner without a voucher but their Yumcha looks nice so might go back for that :D They also had what looked like 2 private rooms upstairs too so this place looked like it would be great for bigger groups
Positive: Atmosphere, Service & FOOD
Negative: Bit Expensive
Dish to try: Peking duck :D
The food was absolutely amazing! I was seriously shocked by how good each dish was, everything was so authentic. I came with overseas visitors and they absolutely loved it. I would definitely come here again!
The price is expensive but the experience was completely worth it!! The whole ambience is super nice, the design is absolutely spectacular!
I used a $158 Groupon deal for 4. My mum’s birthday celebration! This the lead wait staff had trouble finding my booking due to some logistic issues. Nevertheless we were seated quickly on time.
Pretty much they rushed us with a train of dishes in order of mussels, saliva chicken, da lu noodle, sugar free cokes, shallot beef and cashew chicken. The mussels portion was too small but I myself love the onion oil flavor. Saliva chicken had a strangely thick cut and an unorthodox sauce, more bites turned out good. Shallot beef was smokey and tender. Cashew chicken did not get stir enough and flavor was not evenly spread, the meat was tender though. Noodle was quite tasty with dark peking sauce but the portion could be bigger.
Then we waited long for the duck. It finally came! It was worth the wait omg. It tasted just like the duck I had 10 years ago in Beijing. I think is could even be better! The chef dissects the duck in front of you on a trolley. Presentation is beautiful and they take the bones to fry and season in S&P for you (cabbage soup option available too). The fried bones are not very photogenic but taste alright. The highlight really is the slices of duck breast though. It is tender and aromatic. You eat them as is or make little burritos with the provided pancakes. The desserts were small mung bean jelly. They are slightly sweet and taste wholesome, I loved them!
Service is good. A bit awkward and funny sometimes. Also quite loud with the dishes. I gotta say this is the place to go if you want authentic Peking Duck! I gotta ask Xihuahua 🐶 what she thinks.
This inner city Chinese restaurant is located in World Square on the ground floor. The service is pretty efficient and friendly.
The food In generally is very good. Our favourites included the Black Fungus With Vinegar Sauce. Although not the most visually appealing dish it had a nice sharpness and slight spiciness to it that helped the flavour of this dish. The Kung Pao Chicken was caramelised and had a decent amount of chilies added to it without it being overly spicy. The Quanjude Fried Rice was delicious and a great vessel for the fungus and chicken. It was nicely cooked and had pieces of duck in it. The highlight for our dinner was the Half Signature Peking Duck. I was excited to see the chef slicing it with precision. The condiments had been laid out for this dish earlier. There were a few pieces of sliced skin and a plate of succulent looking slices of duck. There was more than enough pancakes for this DIY affair. It was really tasty and well presented.
It’s worth giving this restaurant a try if you’re in the area.
We've visited this restaurant twice, once to have the Peking Duck and the other time was to sample their dishes. Food is delicious and the Peking Duck is exceptional. However, the size of the main dishes were quite small for the price. Service is very good.
I'd say go for it if you can get a voucher deal but it's a bit pricey at full price.
First time having authentic Peking duck in Australia! It was really crunchy and melt in my mouth. Portions were quite small for the price though, I wouldn't have come here without the Groupon.
Běijīng kǎo yā,
the first time I’ve try this dish was worked in Beijing, 12 years ago and fell in love with since then.
So many “authentic” roast duck Beijing style, however Quanjude is always win my heart, never fail.
Duck was as good as I remembered, kungpao chicken dish was also great!
Legend say, the great chef can slice up to 120 pieces from 1 fat duck!
Bùcuò!
If you love Peking duck, you have to try out Quanjude. The famous Peking Duck restaurant originated from Beijing, China. I’ve tried Quanjude in Beijing and Shanghai, and the one Sydney does not disappoint.
Delicious Peking duck!
Value for money if you get a Groupon voucher. I got the $118 voucher from Groupon and it's a set menu for 4 people, well worth it.
Set menu with whole duck (Peking duck pancake set), spicy duck wings, pepper beef stir fry, Kung Pao chicken, a salad, deep fried duck bones with salt n pepper, dumplings and an alcoholic beverage each!
Duck was delicious and worth it, we order the banquet for 4 but we had 3 people so we were really full.

TASTY food and NICE service!!!
Beijing Roast Duck is my favorite dish!!
BTW the stir fried dishes have my hometown‘s flavor. Beautiful!
Will come back.
The most authentic Beijing roast duck in Australia ever! I've tried so many different places and finally found the right one. Beautiful interior, perfect for dining. They offer various drink at the bar area. Will defs come back with my friends and family. 100% recommended.
Super impressed by the decor. Beautiful restaurant
Peking Duck is one of the best in Sydney CBD. Highly recommended.
Cold Chilli chicken is really good, lightly spiced.
Pork Ribs were amazing.
Whitebait super delicious
Headed to Quan Jude recently for yumcha with my colleagues, they had an introductory offer where all plates cost $6.80 quite a good deal. I loved the duck pastry and duck fried rice the most, very tasty and they made you want to go back for second helpings! Not surprising as the restaurant specializes in duck. Service was friendly, nice atmosphere
I took a day off to spoil myself, so I went to Quan-Ju-De to try their famous Peking Duck.
For those who don't know, normally you order a Peking duck for a special occasion like a wedding or New Years banquet. And it is normally to share dish. ( 4+ people)
Quan's duck is almost $120 a duck (elsewhere, you can get it as cheap as $35 a duck), I ordered half a Peking Duck for lunch, just for myself. ($69)
The service came very quickly, the waiter brought over condiments, tea & wine, then a man brings the piping hot duck out on a trolly, ready to carve the duck in front you.
It was theatrical, yet professional. The man with pointy chef hat slices the duck with precision, every piece sliced evenly. He gave me the first part of the duck he craved to me. It was the most crispy part of the duck ..& it was heaven... The skin is thin, luxurious, & more rich than pork crisp & it dissolve when you put it in the mouth. The waiter told me to dip the crispy skin in sugar and eat it (a northern way to eat PK duck).. this took the skin to a new level. With noting were there are no excess fat underneath the skin, just crispy skin & the richness..
Then the chef gave me the most evenly sliced warm juicy duck breast. Each piece had a strip of crispy skin attached. The waiter showed me how to eat them & made the first piece for me. The sauce (unlike the store bought stuff) has a rich fragrant, aroma like Chinese wine.
I don't know how many pancakes I had but I ate them all.
The Chinese don't waste their food, so they fried what's left, toss it in salt & peppered it. I ate & washed it off with an Aussie larger.
Total bill comes to $95 for 2 huge dishes (normally to share) , a Pinot & Larger. Happy day...
Afterthought? Certainly worth a try, a famous Peking duck restaurant chain. The service is great. Restaurant is comfortable. Duck is amazing!
Improvements? I wish the stuff can be more knowledgeable about their ducks & tell me why their ducks are different. And sorry no BYO.
Thanks for reading!
PS: For local office foodies, They have $20 lunch special which includes 2x Peking duck pancakes.
Their famous Peking duck took me back to their Beijing restaurant at Wangfujing which I visited early this year. Both of the skins had the same wafer crisp texture, which melts in your mouth. None of the Chinese restaurants in Sydney can achieve that. The meat was tender & the pancakes had the perfect thickness. I enjoyed every bit of it, I wouldn’t mind going back for more ONLY if they can match the same price as other places. 😅 I’m trying to be fair to compare their price with a high-end Chinese restaurant in Sydney, not just some BBQ shop who sells ‘Peking Duck’ but actually just ordinary roast duck. For one whole duck normally they would charge around $80, but at Quanjude, you need to pay 50% more. With the extra $40 out of your pocket, you can indulge 8 pieces of wafer crisped duck skin dipped with sugar, for an extra eating experience. Worth it or not worth it? You decide.... 🤔
Their other food was well presented. Some of the dishes we had were delicious but some were mediocre. The pictures on the menu don’t really match with the actual dish that brought to our table, smaller than what we expected. 😗
Service was excellent, staff was polite & attentive. Beautiful decor & tableware with a Sichuan theme. In the middle of the meal, there was a Bian Lian (Face changing) performance, a wonderful atmosphere & cultural experience. 👏🏻
Established in 1864 during the Qing Dynasty, Quan Ju De (全聚德) is probably the most longstanding and best-known restaurant in China, mainly for its trademark succulent Peking roast duck. Originating in Beijing and having a network of more than fifty branches all over in China, Quan Ju De has now landed in two Australian cities – Melbourne and Sydney. The World Square outpost in Sydney is not only in close vicinity to Chinatown but also easily accessible from the central business district. A huge Peking Opera face mask at the entrance welcomes guests who are in for an extraordinary culinary experience the Chinese have kept to themselves until now.

Quanjude is a newish addition to the thriving food district that is World Square Sydney. This particular space has seen a variety of uses over the years, with Quanjude continuing the more recent theme of quality Chinese food, and especially Beijing Roast Duck (or Peking Duck as we call it in Australia). However, the bar area here is also a busy place in its own right
Quanjude is a famous Chinese restaurant dating back to 1864 that is known for their roast ducks. It recently opened up in Sydney in World Square and I was keen to check it out. The first thing I noticed was the amazing exterior and interior of the place, it was decorated in theme with ancient China and it felt like you were going back in time.
Quan Jude is a new Peking Duck Restaurant, located on the corner of George street, in the World Square Complex. It’s a mix between a traditional and modern Chinese Restaurant. Whilst you’ve got traditional menu items served on your lazy Susan, there’s modern decor and a super trendy cocktail bar.
This is a new restaurant we wanted to check out. I really didn't set high exceptions but the food was mouth-watering. The menu had so much on there so I would suggest maybe make it easy to pick food. Otherwise I think its a great touch to world sq.

Here’s hoping it’s third time ducky for Quanjude, who’ve just taken over a space where two Peking roast duck restaurants have already tried and failed. After making a moderate update to the duck-centric setting that once housed China Republic and Tang Hui (The Plump Duck), Quanjude launched their flagship Sydney store. Quanjude have been making Peking roast duck since 1864, yep, that’s 154 years of experience, so if anyone can make this spot a success, it’s probably them! Quanjude have stripped away the blackened windows to let in some natural light, and allowed guests to enjoy it on all sides of the bar. The bar stools are a great place to take in the theatre of the duck in the open kitchen, though it’s not the only kind of theatrical performance you might see. On the small stage, there will also be nightly Bian Lian performances. For those still scratching their heads, this ancient Chinese dramatic art involves brightly coloured clothing and fast-changing masks - rather like the giant mask in the entranceway. Drinks-wise you can...
We arrived for the opening and were delighted by everything! The food was all distinctive and flavourful and served promptly. Even though it was the grand opening and there were tons of people, we were still seated almost instantly and well attended to. Even with the crowds, the way the place is designed allows for every table to feel intimate. We didn't overhear- let alone see- other customers while we were seated in our tall-backed booth. It gave a very cozy, intimate feel. Even though it was the opening and the full mixed drink menu was not available, the bartender came over to our table and we were able to request maitais, which he made to perfection. I highly recommend the duck pancakes, the scallops and the strawberry-duck-pineapple medley.
P.S. I know it's sus this is my first review. I normally review places on Facebook but this place doesn't have a page yet. :)
We have had a wonderful Peking duck banquet today and it was amazing. Haven’t had it almost 5 years I guess. We didn’t took some photo of Green Muscles with Shallot oil and Salt & Pepper Duck frame. It was gone so quick! The talble was also not enough for the food. My family loves it and would love to come here again. However, the set menu said we should get dessert for 4 but haven’t received it and no one notified or ask me about it... Whatsoever, the portion was enough for 4 people. Not small... We are super full and totally forgot about dessert. Cheap price if you buy from groupon. Totally worth it. Service is excellent!

We had a fabulous experience dining at Quanjude. The restaurant is beautifully designed, and was the perfect choice for group dining preceded by drinks at their gorgeous bar. The Peking duck specialty did not disappoint, and the seafood exceeded expectation. Entertainment on Saturday night and attentive service was a bonus. Would definitely dine here again, and bring more friends for another night of good food and fun!
Delicious Peking duck!

It is an internationally recognised brand, having begun in Beijing in the 19th century, they have opened their doors in Sydney and Melbourne. Known for their duck and serving over 2 million duck a year. We know why - the duck is superb and it’s serving certainly is a spectacle. The chef rolls out the trolley, carves the duck and lays it out in a pattern on a duck platter and serves it with duck pancakes and it’s accompanying sides of shallots, cucumber and soy bean sauce. The duck was nice and juicy and the crispy skin made for a perfect meal to start. For other entrees, the spring rolls were amazing.
It isn’t just duck though, we were presented with a huge range of dishes to sample. With a Northern Chinese influence, the food was tasty and servings are generous. Some standouts were the salt and pepper flounder, Shrimp fried rice, Australian scallops with salad, King Prawns with vermicelli in a hot pot.
Another spectacle was the Beggars Chicken, complete with a hammer to crush the shell, revealing your chicken insides.
The vegetables were amazing, in particular the mushrooms with carrot and snow peas. The menu here is huge, and you will find it difficult to just select a few!
Drinks wise, we tried two cocktails, my favourite two - an aperol spritz and espresso martini. So you can have it all here - your traditional Chinese food and modern drinks. We were impressed at the quality of these cocktails.
They have splashed out on the interior. It’s a huge space that could seat approx 200 + diners, there’s smaller tables, private dining areas and a bar to perch yourself at. You can also watch the chefs in action. Beautiful themed artworks adorn the walls.
One of the things that made this Chinese Restaurant stand out were the performances taking place in the atrium of the restaurant. There were Bian Lian performances: Chinese dramatic art with colourful costumes as well as an amazing tea pouring ceremony. This really gave Quan Jude a wonderful atmosphere.
