Over many years I've taken whole trays of galaktoboureko from Christophers into more office morning/afternoon teas than I can remember, and always to rave reviews. This is a Greek custard slice - just-solid-enough custard under crisp filo pastry. Christophers make the best galaktoboureko in Sydney. Tip: ask for the syrup in a seperate cup, so it stays crisp until people pour on as much/little as they want. You can also get smaller trays to eat at home, or buy it by the slice.
Also the best place for the Greek occasion cakes - Tsoureki at Easter and Vasilopita at New Years. If you don't have a huge family buy one anyway & celebrate! Both of these are more like bread than cake, they freeze very well & beat any brioche when they're toasted up.
Old school. 1955 is the year that Disneyland opened and that coke was first sold in a can. It is also the year that Sydney's first Greek cake shop opened. So just think, when you are biting into a piece of baclava from Christopher's cake shop, you're biting into a piece of Sydney history. You can buy your cakes and sweets to go, otherwise there is a little area at the back of the shop where you can sit and soak up the years.
My favourite cake shop in Surry Hills. I get birthday cakes from this shop and their fresh cream cake is amazing, everyone always loves it. They also have a great selection of sweets.
Our office loves cake, and Christopher's is a great cake shop that we can always rely on for a good cake time. We've sampled the collection from the Continental, a light vanilla sponge, to the grand Dutchness, a rich chocolate fudge with biscuit pieces, and my favourite, the Creme Roche, a rich chocolate and hazelnut layered cake. This place oozes a Greek inspired bakery with petite sized cakes and sweets. Be prepared to indulge in rich sugary and chocolate treats. Thanks for a delish birthday. I got a delicious black forest cake for my 21s from Christophers, had to hide the leftovers from the family so I could savour the utter deliciousness and perfection of it! Tastiness for days, thank you Christopher's Cakes!!
Christopher's Cake Shop - Surry Hills, Sydney. Christopher's Cake Shop is very renowned with Sydney-siders, and with such clear perception why.
My dad was moving apartment to elsewhere in Sydney and had been long tempted by the Surry Hills location. Since it might be the last convenient chance he decided to get some.
Now I cannot talk about the location, the interior nor the service - just the food; he brought the order up to Queensland.
There were three filo pastries in the sampler to try - an Almond Roll, the Cherry & cheese strudel and the Copenhagen. Each one was very good.
The Copenhagen was akin to a baklava - a shortbread base with a layer of soft almond covered by filo pastry. It had a honey covering which was really sweet combining with the tartness of the almonds.
The almond roll was thin pastry wrapped around an almond mixture. This was also pretty good and less sweet than the other choices.
The best one though was the cherry and cheese strudel; with the amalgam of sour taste in cherries with the creaminess of cream cheese making a fantastic filling this was the most tasty and moreish of the selection - probably helped by being more distinctive from the other two.
Loving care goes into the products and it shows. If I happen to be passing one of these shops buy I might stop and ponder about going in for an off-the-cuff order.
This Greek Cake shop is known for its delicious Pastries, Cakes, Coffee and a huge varieties of desserts. I have tasted a piece of their authentic Greek Baklava, which is very popular among Greek, Turkish and Middle Eastern nations, is a layer of deliciousness filled with chopped Almonds and coated with sweet syrup. Tasted a piece of Baby Cashew Fingers, which is a roll stuffed with delicious caramelized chopped Cashew and topped with Sugar syrup. I become a fan of this place and now planning to taste each and every thing they have in their menu.
My mum, my partner and I have been to this cake shop for a while. It’s just around the corner from our place. Dimitri is just amazing. He has been recommending many cakes and he always gets it right. At first, we came in to have a quick look and then, we haven’t stopped coming back. He is so friendly, he knows his stuff! He is truly FANTASTIC. I would strongly recommend to come and try the cakes, my favourite: the baklava and the apple pie!! Thanks Dimitri for such a great experience in this beautiful cake shop!
Great Macarons, my partner bought a box yesterday and still fresh today!!! Good quality & freshness!
Saurab assisted us in selecting a delicious cake for my sister-in-law's birthday. Thank you for being so kind and nice.

For Greeks, this is a home away from home. Delightful sweets and savoury pastries, with gorgeously aromatic kourambiedes and succulent galaktompoureko. Good Greek coffee and plenty of seasonal deserts (like vassilopita and tsoureki). But perhaps the loveliest part of this patisserie is the staff: Demetris, an admirable professional that balances personal service with astonishingly efficient managing, and Monica’s warm behaviour create such a lovely atmosphere that everyone coming in this place clearly felt at home - just smile and get ready for a nice warm chat.
Clean and tidy premises, nice selection of Greek deserts and good coffee. Kicking myself for not trying the spanokopita.
I love this place. They have a huge range of Greek pastries and snacks. Excellent coffee and helpful staff.
