The black garlic tonkotsu ramen (4.5/5) was very delicious! Portion was generous and very flavoursome but not over powering/oily/thick. Definitely would come back for it!
My friend had the pork Shoyu (3/5) which on the first few bites were nice but began to be overwhelming salty.
Gyoza was standard, nothing too special, but quite pricey for a small portion (3/5)
The service was lacking. We were greeted at the entrance by a very rude and dismissive staff.
The seating area is also very limited, where the four of us were placed on the benches making it very difficult for a conversation.
One of the best ramen spots in Sydney!
Here we have the Pork Tonkotsu ramen with chilli š¶ & black garlic š§ I highly recommend ordering with an extra of miso bomb to really elevate the broth, because it was DIVINE! š¤©š¤¤ Pork chashu was tender and completed the meal with side order of delicious seared Pork Gyozas š„ and youāve got yourself a winner.
Truly a perfect, cozy meal for that rainy cold day.
With the cold weather creeping up on us in Sydney, ramen is the perfect winter warmer! It literally makes you feel like this emoji: š„°ā£. With that being said! ā£Located in Redfern is Rara Ramen, after seeing this particular place plastered all over my Instagram feed I had to check it out š ā£
ā£
Pictured is their: ā£
ā¢ Tonkatsu ramen - this pork-based broth all I can say is WOW, it was "milky with a silky texture" which was as it is described š The Chashu pork was tender and the noodles were perfectly cooked šš¼ā£
ā¢ Pork Gyoza - a classic Japanese side dish that is one of my faves. This was the perfect soft to crispy ratio can't go wrong with ordering this š¤©ā£

If you're ever looking for a ramen joint in Sydney... this place is it. And I hope this post has convinced you āŗļø Make sure to book in advance to avoid missing out on their delicious ramen and other foodies š
nice staff, had the vegan miso ramen with extra noodles. broth was rich and smooth, noodles were chewy and went well with the soup. liked the vegetarian toppings. ordered extra noodles because i am a pig.
Another great ramen place in Sydney. Only opened in Aug 2018 - they have established themselves as a place of quality. Aside from delicious Tonkotsu broth and quality ingredients, their Black Garlic is an absolute hit! You can taste the strong garlic impact which compliments the soup!
Rating 4.0 Very long queue for Sunday lunch. Itās really not the sort of place you come to have lunch with 5 friends. So our group ended up splitting up in seating (we already waited for about 30mins & would have to wait much longer). A short list of ramen, mainly variations of the tonkotsu. I got it with the black garlic & chilli, it was fragrant and very satisfying, lots of flavours packed into that broth, but not overly salty. The beef brisket baos had good flavours too and brisket were tender and well sauced, but that made the bao bun soggy at the thin folds, and it crumbled & all the sauce & fillings just went everywhere. Aside from that & the wait it was definitely a good lunch.
Food was amazing, service was great. Will definitely be back.
Arrived early exactly on their opening hours cause the queue can be extremely long. But itās worth it.
Amazing ramen. The broth is just glorious. Not overly thick, the right amount of fat. Just phenomenial soupy goodness. Highly recommend! Sit at the kitchen if you can so you can see the chefs at work.
This place is crazy busy but worth the wait. The broth is creamy but not fatty. The meat is so tender and yummy, even the egg and bamboo shoots are nicely cooked. The gyoza is delicious. The staff are friendly and polite. Will definitely come back
Best ramen in Sydney, hands down.
First time here. The Tonkotsu broth had an amazing depth of flavour. Texture of the noodles was spot on. So glad we tried this place!
Not long after we got seated, people coming later started to queue at a Tuesday night. Myself is a HUGE noodle lover, I love all sorts of noodles, and of course, ramen! I have tried quite a few top rating ramen places, comparing to those, the ramen offer in Rara is slightly different. The soup was not heavy, but pretty good. You don't feel sick after having the entire bowl, unlike many others I've known which are either too rich or salty. They use thin noodles although I personally like thick ones more. However they cooked it to the just right so the noodles didn't get soggy in the hot soup. Overall a quite pleasant experience, all my friends liked their ramen. If I have to say something imperfect, I think the options are a bit limited, and it'd be great if they could have rich soup based ramen.
Recommend going early because even on a Tuesday there was about a 20-30 min wait. We ordered two of the vegan ramens which were so delicious and satisfying. Highly highly recommend. Also tried the jackfruit bao which I enjoyed. Wasn't that cheap, about $80 for 2 people. But to be fair we did order A LOT and left very full and satisfied!
The most delicious japanese ramen iāve ever had in sydney, good ambience and atmosphere, definitely will come back again even though its always crowded :)
Ra ra - I love a good ramen and these guys donāt disappoint! The wait for food was a bit lengthy but well worth it
Thereās only a handful of ramens on the list which makes the selection process easy!
I had the tonkotsu Ramen with black garlic and chilli whereas my friend opted for the miso ramen! It could have done with a little bit more meat
I will definitely be up for round 2 though this place gets rather busy so eating at the end or before the lunch and dinner rush hour is recommended!
Very much enjoyed the ramen here. I ordered the pork tonkatsu ramen with black garlic and chilli. It was full of flavour and the egg was delicious! It was high in collagen I think because my lips were sticky after eating. Decent serving of pork too with charred edges (yum). There is a line to get in here and you can't make bookings so I recommend coming early!
Recommended by a friend of mine, I decided to give RaRa a try - and I thought it was pretty decent, actually its better than decent. I was most impressed with the chashu as it was tender and juicy, something I was not really expecting. The noodles were also great; they tasted fresh and had a nice chewy texture to it. The only thing I thought could be improved was the broth. I ordered the black garlic tonkotsu broth, which was fairly tasty and creamy. It was quality broth, but I just think it lacked depth of flavour. Halfway through my meal, I felt like I was only tasting the savoury aspect of the broth, but not really the garlic nor tonkotsu flavours. That being said, it is still, overall, a pretty good bowl of ramen, so I would not mind coming here again.
Friday night is a busy night to have ramen, at this small restaurant pack a punch with the line (literally). The place looks neat, looks modern and the setting of the place is relaxing and the staff is friendly. The gyoza came in 10 minutes after I was placed in a seat and it's pretty good. It has a balance of salty and savoury. Surprisingly it feels light and it's not greasy. The ramen was the mainstage of the meal, I love the noodles. It's chewy, rustic and it doesn't break easily. I think the broth needs a bit more work. It doesn't mean it's not good, I just prefer a thicker broth ramen to get all the flavour. The charsu is excellent! It has a nice char and it's so flavorful.
I would recommend this place and it's a āāāā!
So apparently when the owners of Rara go away on holidays, their signature tonkotsu gets taken off the menu because thatās just how much of a secret this broth is. And I see why! Deliciously creamy and complex, donāt forget your kaedama!
Very nice place. Ramen were delish! The dry option has a very rich and creamy taste to it because of the mayonnaise sauce. The soup ramen was pack with flavours, love the pork belly, so tender and a little bit smoky. The dumplings taste so good as well, juicy fillings and nice complimenting sauce.
At the request of my vegetarian friend, a group of friends and I found ourselves at this place on a cold winter night. Although the wait was long, the food was worth it.
The bao buns were super soft and cloud-like. I couldnāt wait to dig into my vegan ramen, hence the lack of photos. It was absolutely delicious.
My new favourite ramen place! I got the tonkotsu ramen with black garlic. The broth was so flavoursome, silky and smooth. The pork was melt in your mouth. The serving looks small but it's actually very filling. Wonderful service too - staff so friendly!
A great little spot that was buzzing when we got there at 5.45pm. Seating just under 30 people, we we didnāt have to wait long and were sat up against the window.
Ordered the house special, the RaRa tonkotsu with black garlic and chili, and the pork shio, as well as pork gyoza to start.
The gyoza were nice and juicy, right amount of filling and great to start.
Pork shio was light, clear broth, and my wife found this really enjoyable. I had the tonkotsu and it wasnāt as āheavyā as Iāve had previously, especially with the black garlic and chili. The broth had a great balance of umami and heat/spice.
The noodles were not soft enough for my liking, but this is personal preference only, did not impact the meal or my review. Would definitely recommend and to go early!
Normally there is a huge line for this place but during a public holiday you get in straight away without having to wait.
We got the original tonkatsu ramen and one with black garlic and chili. Serving sizes are not big but the soup is delicious and the ramen is well made with a bit of bite. The egg is soft and gooey and the char sui is tender.

Went here for ramen last week on a cold evening and left feeling as full as a goog and ready for bed. Am going again on my birthday for dinner.
Worth the wait, and it is quite the wait! I had the Vegan Miso Ramen and although on the pricier side, it is one of the tastiest meals I have had. The broth is creamy and full of flavour. A really large serving so you can justify the price. There was a bit of a wait for the food also but the staff were really friendly.
It gets better everytime I eat here, you will never be able to eat Raman from anywhere else after experiencing this place. Iām not Vego but often eat the vego options, 100% deliciousness
Guoriumš§Ŗ and I had a great time! Itās worthwhile for waiting a little while! They are really busy and it seems they are really popular in the local community.
The ramen š, wow š®, this is our first impression for that! I didnāt expect such a good texture and memorable taste! The soup density is just right and the texture of the ramen is elastic!
The highlight must be there thick sliced pork which was really yummy and melts immediately in your mouth š!
I didnāt gave them 5 š as I think itās a little bit pricy for some extend. They might need to keep their high quality and differentiation to survive in this competitive market.
Their noodle is excellent, a bit on the hard side but not chewy. Hakata noodle is pretty unique. Best chashu pork I ever had in Sydney, literally melts in your mouth and not oily. They have sesame grinder and spicy sesame oil on the table. I have to say if you love ramen at least try this place once. Serve speed is fast and staff is friendly. Xihuahua š¶ thinks it is too expensive. I agree that their value is not the best.
I think their soup-less ramen in limited quantity is rather special. The noodle is spaghetti like almost. Sauce is creamy and rich. Gotta at least try once!
Yum! This was worth the wait - some of the best ramen Iāve had in Sydney! Really delicious broth and perfectly cooked pork in my shoyu ramen š

Finally got to try RaRa after seeing how busy it always seems to be and was not disappointed. We ordered the RaRa Tonkotsu and Pork Shoyu. The grilled pork was an excellent addition! I really liked how the Pork Shoyu gave a generous serving of bean sprouts and how the soup was not overly salty. The soup was also lighter with a bean sprout flavour and not as fatty as the Tonkotsu. One of the best lighter ramens I've ever had! I understand why some reviewers do not like how the noodles over time soak up liquid and become softer especially for the Tonkotsu but I didn't mind it at all. I will definitely come back to try the vegan ramen!
The restaurant is very aesthetic and busy. The chashu pork I tasted was so tender and smoky, it was really well done. Too bad that I wasn't a fan of the noodles. Broth was good, but it didn't really feel very Japanese.
Trendy new ramen joint in Redfern. I had the Black Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen which was surprisingly good. The soup was creamy and noodles were chewy, but the soup to noodle ratio was a bit lacking. The chashu (meat) was the best part. The Gyoza were okay. We had to wait around 45 minutes to get seated & expect to pay around $20pp.
Unsurprisingly, the dish I wanted to try the most was the secret RaRa Tonkotsu ($16.9). This took its time coming out, but oh boy was it worth the wait. The pork soup was astoundingly good ā not only was it thick and creamy with collagen, it also had a deep and umami flavour to it ā two things that I find can often be mutually exclusive. The flavour hits hard and pulls you right in ā it is definitely the best tonkotsu soup Iāve ever had. As for the noodles, they complemented the soup perfectly. Made super-thin in the Hakata style, these firm yet surprisingly springy noodles soaked the porky goodness of the broth right up. The egg was top-notch too; in fact, the only complaint I can make is regarding the charshu. Although sliced satisfyingly thick, it lacked the buttery tenderness of other versions Iāve had, and they couldāve left the meat on the charcoal grill (yes they use one of those here) for just a smidge longer to allow the fatty flavours to come through more clearly.
Amazing having a local ramen restaurant. Menu is small but offers great options. All ramen dishes can be made vegetarian on request. Intimate space, limited seats and fantastic staff who are friendly, very helpful and proactive to how your table (helping with the choosing food from the menu, water refills, clearing the table quickly).
We all had the RaRa which didnāt disappoint. Beautifully grilled slices of pork served on top of tasty broth, noodles, egg. I chose the Spicy Ra Ra and would definitely have this again. Not too spicy, and if you need more heat add it from the chilli oil on the table.
There is only one large table which sits 6 comfortable (or 8 at a squeeze). The large table can only be reserved for opening at 6pm, then it forms part of the wait list for the walk-in based rotation of tables.
Make sure you try Ra Ra - the restaurant & the ramen bowl!!
Yum the grilled pork was the best and definitely will come back for the black garlic broth. The line gets pretty busy from open till 7pm so get ready to wait

Itās all happening in the āfern! RaRa is the latest ramen ddition to the neighbourhood sitting just across from Arcadia and next door to Huxtaburger. Rara makes their Hakata style noodles in house and is pumping out steaming hot bowls of ramen with a carefully curated wine list. The menu is short and sweet with 3 different ramens- tonkotsu, shio and a vegan ramen. Read on for more!
Couldnāt really fault this place. Best ramen Iāve ever had. Friendly service and nice, casual atmosphere. Pretty busy on a weekend, we waited about 15 mins for a table but it was well worth it.
Ramen so good. Best so far they grilled the tonkatsu so it's charred and smoky taste without gooey feelings. Black garlic is must try. They have sake and drinks too. Service is nice and they have unusual noodle which is smooth :)
I saw a review up by Ramen Raff, Sydneyās specialist reviewer of ramen, and who am I to argue? Located on Regent Street, a stoneās throw from Redfern Station, itās a lovely contemporary space that specialises (hurrah, hurrah) in ramen. I like the fact that they only have a few varieties of ramen AND that most were sold out when we went for lunch on a Tuesday; it means that the food is absolutely fresh and made to order, and when theyāre out, theyāre out!
This place was amazing! When my boyfriend & I arrived there was a line out the door, but it was really worth the wait! We both ordered the RaRa Tonkotsu with black garlic & it did not disappoint! Although, I personally enjoyed it more when I added lots of chilli oil, which was a condiment provided on the table. But this ramen no doubt, reminded me of being in Japan! Would recommend!
So...letās get the pretentious thing out of the way, yes the chef is white and yes he can make ramen, very good ramen...
Now the longer form, Hakata style ramen is not something we see around everywhere. I think the only ones that labels it is Ippudo and they kinda have this weird industrialist taste to it....idk? Just canāt visage someone slaving over the broth to make sure itās just perfect...thatās what a chain brand does...side track***
But here, itās all on display and thereās something that is quite special about the broth. You donāt get that heavy feeling once u gulp it all down as you channel your inner Godzilla and let not even one noodle escape your gut...Surprisingly you feel good, warm and sated. I canāt put my finger on it but she says itās the care to remove most of the rendered pork fat in the soup. Iāll take her word for it!
Now we do have some criticisms, thereās no noodle hardness option...but then again the place was buzzing so I guess itās another layer of complexity that might just slow things down. Oh and the bar space? Bar space without snacks..? I mean we really canāt have a proper drink without renkon chips or seaweed...maybe weāre just hard to please???
Gotta say a lot of love gosh into this bowl and yes weād like to see what else comes from this spot in the future!
LOVED this place. Now I get the big deal about ramen. So delicious omg. Loved the vibe, people really nice, super clean and modern. Have been craving the flavours since and though I live 2 hours outside Sydney I am planning to go back to the city mainly to eat here again. Highly recommend.
Iām glad to see a ramen joint that puts more emphasis on the noodles that they use. It is afterall a big part of ramen. Service is also quite fast. Go check them out guys!
Rara Redfern Pork Shio Ramen - soup was balanced and the noodles were thin and al dente, just gave it a really good texture. Overall, it was a great ramen dish! Must try!
RaRa Redfern Tonkotsu Ramen - soup was creamy with a subtle thickness. It brought out the pork flavored and really enhanced the broth.m! I could be drinking it and not feel sick at all. The Hakata style ramen (thin noodles) are made in-house and really complemented the soup š. The noodles were al dente and had great texture. I would say that they would have been the best ramen noodles on the Sydney ramen scene hands down š. Needless to say, I will definitely be going back!!
Hands down!!! BEST ramen in Sydney. The menu don't give you many choices but the quality can easily beat any other ramen places I've been too. Not only ramen noodles taste very in-house made but the ratio of base helps leaving no food waste. Karaage chicken is to die for as well. I always come here for ramen and the consistency is the key to make me come back for more. Highly recommend!! Rara is always busy so make sure you make reservations in advance.
Brotha! This is THE BEST ramen shop Iāve ever been in my whole life.
I even went there one night with a Japanese friend who confirmed my theory. These guys clearly know what they are doing.
The taste, the textures, the environment, the spot on staff specially and that distribution of decoration and music makes this place an obsidian gem in Sydney.
Always top tier ramen. The broth is fantastic all the way to the bottom. Noodles are super authentic and delicious. Always come with friends. Tables are tiny so sit at the bar
A focus on ramen, with a small short menu. Ramen is tasty and the stock is rich but not too think. Serving size is good. Price is on the steep side for ramen but quality is high. Sides are fine and a range of drinks too.
Love the ramen here, great creamy tonkotsu broth with super nicely done charcoal roasted pork! Every ingredient rxpresses its fragrance. Staff was super friendly.
Note: line up early and don't eat beforehand! Enjoy
Ra Ra Raving about this ramen (still dreaming about dat egg)ā¦ It was Radical š«° the vibes were great and staff too.
I will just stay, the greeter at the front wasnāt very friendly and my friend and I didnāt feel welcome coming in or leaving. She wasnāt happy at all and was pretty stern to kick us out once our time was up- but everyone has their days!
