Grasshopper Bar is a hidden gem. It serves nice cocktails and food, with friendly wait staff. The bar has an indoor area that offers a more formal dining experience with outdoor area being more casual. My friend and I ordered cocktails #191 and #200 + duck pancakes as we weren’t that hungry. Keen to come back to try more cocktails & food.

Great service at grasshopper, however, it is a slight hidden bar within an alleyway in George street. Tonight we ordered #181 and it tasted great! A bit of gin, a bit of blood orange, some almond, rhubarb butters complemented with fresh lemon

Love Grasshopper - its one of the original small bars in Sydney following the deregulation of the bar licence rules. It's chic, funky, laid back and just a whole lot of fun - they serve some of their cocktails in jars as an example - so cool.
The food has an Asian twist to it these days. We really enjoyed our dumplings and prawn toast.
And I think I had my new favourite cocktail - it combined Johnny Walker Black and Laphroig 10 year with lime juice and ginger - genius!
Service is a little lost, given the need to split between upstairs and downstairs but all is forgiven because the place is just such a cool place to chill 😊

I came here with two friends and we got a jug of cocktails and ordered a few bar snacks downstairs. It's one of the original, hole in the wall small bars. It's a nice, trendy, dark bar.  Go upstairs for a posh dinner. The chicken wings were tasty. They were nice and crunchy though the sherry and soy sauce was a bit too salty.  After a few wings your taste buds start to become numb. C rispy chicken wings, sherry, soy and sesame dressing $20 Below, the eggplant paste was flavoursome.  The tofu was nice with the eggplant but some more tofu would have helped balance the flavours out better. Eggplant with hot bean paste $6

A small selection of bar food is served downstairs, but if you fancy a more substantial feed then head upstairs to the restaurant.

Nom Nom Pom had been telling me about Grasshopper for months, and we recently had the opportunity to try it out. It is hidden down a laneway. It is a small bar. It is unusual for Sydney. That's all I'll say. (I refuse to use the M- word in this post, so overused!!) The atmosphere is welcoming, warm and relaxed, with quirky touches such as giant kung fu images on the walls to keep things interesting.

Having only opened this year, Grasshopper has some great quirky touches like serving table water and cocktails in jam jars. There are old records as coasters, book-like menus and playing cards as business cards. These all combine to make Grasshopper an in

We decide to order a few small plates to share as this seemed the most economical way to dine. Mains were a bit more pricey than I was expecting and we were trying not to spend to much money. Our small dishes were really tasty, but we probably could've done with more food.

Grasshopper may be completely hidden to the average passerby, but that seems to be half the appeal for the Sydney suits and hipster crowd that spill out the front of this laneway bar each weeknight. There are no signs on the street to indicate its existence, but those in-the-know head down the narrow alley off George Street, unmarked but for the remarkably appropriate street sign "Temperance Lane". You'll find it to the left of the RM Williams store on the same block as the Apple shop. Candles, wine glasses and jam jar water glasses at Grasshopper The four of us manage to score one of the last available tables on a Friday night, although it does require a disconcerting series of verbal negotiations and compliance with the gate-keeping waitress before we're allowed through (You're here to have dinner aren't you, not just snacks? Because some people just take a table and order snacks and no food. We'll need the table back at 7.45pm. And you're eating dinner, right? And you'll be having a

Stick a lid on it. Shake it. Serve it. That’s how it got started. Word on the street has it that Grasshopper makes a mean Espresso Martini (and the word is right.) Whatever your cocktail choice, this laneway bar early adopter still serves ‘em up in their signature glass jars. Owner John Toubia lets us in on a secret: “Everyone we employ goes jar crazy,” searching for new ones. Cocktails are the most popular drink here, and every week ten out of the hundred numbered signatured cocktails are listed for on premises. Or try a Grasshopper cocktail class (no fancy bar equipment is required - household objects, glass jars, measuring beakers and tablespoons are used). But there’s more to Grasshopper than cocktails - we like the (Austr

Nice bar/restaurant. Came in for a drink as my friend say this little hidden/tugged away place. We were pretty lucky because for some strange reason it wasn't too crowded that evening (during the weekend which doesn't happen often as this place is practically packed normally according to most people.). So happy we came in! It's got a lovely atmosphere with vintage stuff in the bar (and a few of the tables made of instrument cases, how great is that?) and good selection of drinks here. It's a two level bar/restaurant with its kitchen on the 2nd floor. Friendly staff and great music. Will definitely come back and highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a chilled quirky place to go :)

Simply, this is one of the coolest bars in Sydney ... and one if the first small bars in this city!!! Owned by the amazing Marty - who totally loves working in hospitality - and you always feel welcomed. The staff are awesome, drinks traditional and creative and the vibe perfect... as well as awesome music always playing in the background. Down a laneway, you can sit outside underneath one of the coolest bits of street art in Sydney, or sit downstairs! Food upstairs is also amazing... or you can order snacks! Love love love this place!

The food was amazing and didn’t take long at all! I have a food allergy and they were more than happy to help me out with the dishes that I could eat. We ordered a few cocktails as well and they were also great!

First time their and the atmosphere is great, nice decoration and the service is top. I asked if they have anything similar to an old fashioned and the bartender Nico was excellent and friendly. He suggested their rum infused with chestnuts home made the same day. A great cocktail! Thank you, I had a wonderful time.

Great little hidden venue. Basic selection of beers but good tunes and nice vibe. Has seating outside as well now.

The chicken wings here are amazing but pricey. I enjoy hanging out here after work. It is hidden away but can get crowded on Friday nights. They do some excellent Chinese fusion food. They've got a good selection of beer but don't always have cider which I find slightly odd. The staff are really nice too.

Came here for a birthday dinner with my partner. The colours and the decor were amazing with a great ambience. I love how they reuse old jars and glass bottles. The dumplings and chicken wings were delicious and the cocktails were superb. They presented the cake so nicely too so the service was fantastic. Thank you for making my boyfriends birthday dinner so special. We can’t wait to come back and try more stuff 😀
