Bang Bang Izakaya emanates what a Friday night in Tokyo would be like- from their menu, tachi-nomi style ambiance, and paraphernalia such as vending machines, gachapons, and neon lights. I for one, was enthralled in the atmosphere and found myself eating and drinking in excess.
The food and cocktails are enticing, and straight up wholesome. The lava omu rice partnered with their katsu, was definitely filling and packed with flavour. Plus their gyoza is definitely a match with any cocktail or beer. I definitely suggest trying their craft beers.
I suppose the only criticism i have is their whisky cocktail (Called-The Outrage Royal?)- and it can only be described as Terrible with a capital T! The description even suggested that it was a drink for whiskey lovers! The taste was confusing and reminded me of air freshener, it hinted no taste of whisky whatsoever.
This place exudes much of the Japanese bar vibe, complete with vending machines and karaoke room. Really enjoyed the beef tatami and karaage chicken. Wouldn’t mind coming back again.
Went here for a work lunch this week while I was in the city. The restaurant was so cute, kept very true to the Japanese them. Definitely felt like I was in Japan even though i've never been. Personally not a big fan of matcha so the green tea lemonade wasn't my favourite but my chicken in my chicken was beautifully fried and seasoned and was just a delight!
Sashimi’s are fresh and well prepared. Sake is delicious. I like the environment though a bit noisy. Price is decent taking into the consideration of the location. Services are good.
So good! We ordered one of the signature cocktails I forget it's name- the one with elderflower- was amazing!! Tasted like a maraschino cherry but better. My favourite dish was the nigiri salmon entree- it was done 3 ways: wasabi, truffle, and another I can't remember. We also ordered two sushi rolls: spicy tuna, and crab roll. Both had great presentation, weren't the most flavoursome though. The spicy tuna wasn't enough tuna, and the seringe of sauce was just sriracha! The kingfish ceviche was a bit bland, good fish though. Would still return, great vibe and lots more dishes to try
To be honest the food itself is average, particularly the sushi, the rice were super gluggy. Fried/grilled items over done & dried. However this place is all about the experience. Pumping music, neon & red lighting, funky bars, stools & tables that look like you're sitting in the street (not particularly comfortable), a see through karaoke room. It is a fun place to be. We got seated in the karaoke room, this immediately set my friends (avid karaoke enthusiasts) into fever mode. The drinks were also interesting, after a couple rounds, we ended up with a 1.8L sake, luckily they let you keep the unfinished bottle behind the bar (which also ensure you'll be back for another round of food).
This bar and eatery feels like the back end alley of a nighttime joint in Japan, lit with neons and lanterns and complete with a glass karaoke room and a quiet tatami-style room out back! We loved the experience of eating here.

Bang bang tebasaki (5 peppery-soy chicken wings were yum $9.80)
Kaisen omu yakisoba (omelette wrapped seafood yakisoba YARM so saucy! $16.80)
Chicken curry cream gratin (a creamy curry sauce that came with a few bits of pasta, veggies and chicken - could’ve used some rice with this $13.80)
BBQ eel bo sushi (this special had such a tasty fillet of sweet soy marinated eel MMM 4 pieces for $12.80)
Fish saikyo miso (miso marinated fish, small but tasty for $9.80)
I’ve been wanting to go to Bang Bang Izakaya Bar ever since I heard of it’s opening and finally had the chance to go. I’m a massive fan of Japanese food and walking into this place definitely felt like I was in Japan too. It has such a great atmosphere, with friendly staff and the food was amazing! The prices are affordable too. It’s a great place to escape with food and drinks after a long day. There’s usually a line at the front before entering but it’s worth the wait.
The layout of the place is very unique and interesting! Came here only for dinner, but will have to visit again for drinks as well.
We ordered the sashimi salad, salmon teriyaki and a tomato rice curry with omelette. Salmon and salad were really good, the curry was ok, but I’ve never been a huge fan of Jap curry anyway. The menu had a lot of variety so I’d definitely come back to try other items.

I stopped by Bang Bang for a lunch with a dear friend the other week and was really excited to try all the delicious food. I had heard pretty good reviews from everyone that had been to the new steam mill lane restaurant, and I couldn't resist the thought of some fried chicken!
Menu: 8/10
I find the menu really fun with the fusion burgers, and some classics too. For vegetarians and other dietary requirements the menu doesn't offer too many options.
Service: 9/10
Service was really friendly and I found them attentive and quick. They topped up our water whenever our glasses seemed to empty and the food came to us piping hot which I loved! Even better the chicken came with some gloves so that our hands didn't get too messy.
Ambiance: 10/10
The space is honestly so wonderful! I love the interiors with the Tokyo style decor and dim lighting, but I love the other dining room (where we were seated) with low wooden tables that you sort of had to climb into.
Food: 9.5/10
Delicious food! I loved the fried chicken which was crispy, salty and oh-so-tender. The salmon lovers don was exceptionally fresh with a delicious cu of salmon on the plate. I went for the Teriyaki Chicken burger which came with matcha salt fries, and I adored it! Full disclosure, this was one of the oiliest burgers I have ever eaten, but boy was it delicious! Highly recommend the fries too.
Value for money: 9/10
Great meal sizes and great prices for lunch!
