I'm a fan of Burger Project so I was keen to try the upmarket version 'Black Label'. From looking at the menu there are some fancier burger options, waffle fries and sweet potato fries, posh sides and breakfast options. There's probably more differences but a man's gotta eat. I had the signature black label which is a whopping 220g of grass fed beef with triple smoked bacon mixed through. What surprised me was the fact I finished it and didn't feel gross considering I just ate almost a quarter kilo of beef. Waffle fries were decent. Service was good. Interior was nice. To be honest I'm not sure if I could tell the difference visually between regular and black label. Im not sure the corporate crowd wants a food baby, but the person going out on the town definitely does. Whether that person would walk past this place is a different story. Black Label BP is worth going to, I'm curious with their other options. Burger Project essentially is a clean feeling burger that uses locally sourced ingredients, cooked and presented really well.

Black Label by Burger Project is a great spot tucked away in the courtyard of Grosvenor place towards The Rocks-end of George Street. The main points of difference between Black Label and Burger Project are: 1. The patties which are noticeably larger in size and substance (220g patties) than the Burger Project ones. 2. A few of burgers have a blend of Cape Grim beef & triple-smoked bacon (Inc. Black Label, Texan & Double Black) and the Native has a blend of Cape Grim Beef & Kangaroo. Burgers are delicious, cooked to medium, and range from $17-18, $23 for a Double Black. Sides are kept simple - waffle fries (regular & sweet potato) and onion rings. They have a large range of drinks Inc. PS40 sodas, shakes, craft beers (tap & bottled), cocktails & wine.

Everything in the cafe is Black from interiors to cups and saucers. I personally have not tried the breakfast or lunch menu as most of my visits are for coffee. In June during its opening month all coffees ordered through the ‘hey you’ app was $2 for the entire month. I was able to try the consistency of the coffee and the first two weeks the coffee was excellent with a nice roast and punch. On a busy day it was a different story unfortunately they burnt my latte severely which I just couldn’t drink. I went back recently and it seemed okay, so really it depends which barista you get as there are a few.

Burger Project but with a different name. Have the same menu and quality so it is a good thing. They cook and serve quite fast and very delicious burger. Will be back again.

Juicy & delicious but very pricy considering the size of the sandwich and quality of service. The photo is Black Label (Signature Burger)

This is a great place to grab a quick lunch either by yourself or in a small group. The burger options aren't extensive but the staff were accommodating in taking items out to suit. Fries were thick cut and very filling so probably best to share. Burger wasn't the best burger I've ever had, but it wasn't the most expensive either. Overall it was good value for money with pleasant surroundings.

Black label definitely lives up to the idea of a "premium burger project". I had the black label burger and waffle fries. The patty was by far the biggest improvement compared to burger project, it was thicker, juicier and had seemed to be cooked in bacon fat or something. The fries were also tastier, having more surface area for their spices to shine through because of the waffle fry shape. Strongly recommend if you are happy to pay a bit more for a really fantastic burger and fries. Also stone&wood on tap topped it off nicely.

Great selection of burgers, very well cooked with decently priced beers. Good value all round!
