Amazing flavour and good portion
Sichuan noodle restaurant in the world square complex which I didn't actually find that spicy. It was more the Sichuan pepper spice that gives the numbing effect. My favourite dishes were:
🔹️Chongqing Spicy Noodle with beef- heavily spiced with beef so tender
🔹️ Spicy and Sour Wontons- plump juicy wontons bathing in a delicious broth of chilli and vinegar
🔹️ Stewed Pork Belly Noodles- a mild dish but a welcome relief from all the spice with melt in your mouth, gelatinous pork belly and noodles for days
🔹️ Fried Crispy Chicken Balls- strangely served with tomato sauce, I didn't go for this but they were great on their own
🔹️ Pigs Ears with Chilli Oil- I was keen to try this because I'd only ever had them fried crispy, but they were beautiful. If you can get over the whole 'ear' thing.
🔹️ Pan Fried Dumpling with Pork and Chinese Chive- your classic pot sticker, what's not to like?!
We ordered the noodles with wontons, the lamb noodles and spring rolls. The spring rolls were yum but probably unnecessary because the noodle bowls were huge! I got flat noodles in the lamb bowl which I prefer to the thinner egg noodles, but both were tasty. They definitely had that Sichuan spice flavour, but weren’t 100% Sichuan I’d say, as they still had a traditional spice aspect. The service was also great and food came very quickly. Overall, I’d definitely return for the flat noodles :)
Enjoyed this noodle feast recently where we were treated to a variety of Sichuan Chinese noodles. A range of spicy and non-spicy dishes, various noodle dishes, dumplings, wontons and finishing off the meal with some traditional desserts.

My fave dishes of the evening were:
🍜Chongqing spicy noodles with beef.
🌶Spicy and sour potato noodles with pork.
🥟Pan fried dumplings.
🎃 Pumpkin cake (dessert).
Note: I dined as a guest of the venue. All views expressed are my own.
Great place at Worlds Square. The atmosphere inside is so authentic, that it almost feels like being in restaurant in China. Yummy dishes on offer and so much to choose from. If you like spicy this is your place. Any noodles is great option, also fried dumplings and popcorn chicken. For dessert go for Fruit Jelly, very light to finish your meal with. Recommend! I dined here on a Tuesday night as part of a foodie event (Thanks to FCBA for organising).
We had a great girls night out eating a variety of noodles both spicy, non spicy, wet and dry. We also had a selection of dumplings and starters from the menu. Some of my favourite savoury dishes from the night were:
- stewed pork belly noodles (non spicy) - pork belly was so tender and fell apart as you ate it. The broth accompanying it was flavoursome. It was a generous portion but could easily polish off a bowl on my own
- Chongqing spicy noodles with beef and pork - these had great flavour but are not for those who don't love spice. Again, generous portion and plenty of meat as well.
- Pan fried dumplings - crispy outside and juicy inside
- Wontons and mushroom in chicken soup - always a good staple dish when it's done well and this one was. Generous serving and wontons held their shape well in the broth.
We also tasted some of the desserts. My favourite was the glutinous rice cakes. Super sweet with a crunchy outside and soft inside. The other desserts we had were not really my thing (jelly, pumpkin and red bean cakes and glutinous rice in sugar syrup)
Overall, I liked my experience at Dainty. I would definitely go back for the noodles because they are tasty and you get a generous portion for a very reasonable price for the Sydney CBD (~$14 a bowl).
Oodles of noodles! Really enjoyed the food here at Dainty Sichuan with a great selection of spicy and non-spicy dry or wet noodles. My favourite was the stewed pork belly noodles - rich flavour and chunky pieces of juicy pork belly. Desserts were nice but I wouldn’t say that any of them wow’d me. Lemon and lychee was bubbly and refreshing and paired well with the hot dishes. Overall, a great night but there were some issues with staff missing part of our order.

My thanks to Dainty Sichuan and FCBA for the invite.
Went there for a quick noodle fix. Their mushroom broth is a must-try!!! It looked very bland but was full of flavour. Glutinous rice cakes with brown sugar syrup were pretty yummy too.
A great place for noodles! Noodle feast! And especially if you love spicy food, this place is the place to go to! Order a bowl of noodles with a side dish such as dumplings!!! It goes well together!!
Dainty Sichuan has finally arrived in Sydney (and we thankfully don’t have to trek to Melbourne anymore) and owners Tina Li and Ye Shao have hired chefs from China so that we in Sydney can have the authentic experience.
If you love spicy Chinese food, you are going to love Dainty Sichuan. The ‘go to’ dishes are definitely the spicy noodle dishes which are perfect for a cold winter’s night and you can adjust the level of heat intensity to cater for your own taste. Not everything on the menu is spicy, however. The wontons and mushrooms in chicken soup (pictured) is one example as is the fried chicken schnitzel (pictured).
We finished our meal with the pumpkin cakes and the glutinous rice cakes (pictured) and both were lovely, comforting and not too sweet.
The quality of the food is top notch as is the service. I cannot wait to go back.
Please note we ate as guests of Dainty Sichuan. #daintysichuan
If you like noodles and chilli, this will be your favourite. Chongqing spicy noodles is the base. You can add chicken or beef or vegetables. It is super delicious. Serving is very big. Try also the delicacies like pig ear in chilli oil. Fast and convenient food.
Decent price, good serving, good tastes.
Great place for casual meal, or before some drinks.
Super quick service, and plenty spots to sit.
Definitely try. Especially with some mates.
Had the braised lamb noodles and was impressed. The level of spice / chilli was perfect, not insanely hot where you can't taste the food but enough to numb the tongue and give a nice chilli hit. Will be back to try more dishes

Love his place, fast fresh amazing hand pulled noodles and dumplings served efficiently with all the trimmings off labour waiting to jump out at your tongue
this is fast food restaurant, food coming is very quick, there are lot of spicy food options, really traditional chongqing taste, customer service not bad, next time I will try spicy noodle! wonton is relly fantastic
Xihuahua 🐶 took me there and I trust her choice cause she is from Sichuan. The food was fantastic, lip numbingly good. To my surprise they also do very decent dumplings! Would go again for sure! Their bean noodle is highly recommended and not too hot.
Have walked past many times but never tried, but was suggested by someone who is China/Beijing and they highly recommended this place. Food was spicy though! So if you can handle your spice, the food was amazing. Very reasonably priced as well and easy to get a seat. We ordered 3 dishes between the 2 of us and I was very full from the meal.
One of my favourite chines noddles stores.
Thinner and more flavorous, Sichuan noddles are different form North Chinese noddles, which are thicker and chewy. I always like noddles with peas and pork mince, which is really popular in my hometown.
Quilty is one of the best among another noddles bar, through they are one of most expensive noddles bars.
We intended to visit a Japanese restaurant but walked past this and couldn't help but walk in. It was nice to try something different. The best dish was the fried chicken balls, which is another concept of popcorn chicken but better. Food tasted authentic and homely too. Would definitely come back and try other dishes.
After wandering around World Square a little aimlessly when we found out that our 1st and 2nd choice restaurants don’t open for Sunday lunch (who doesn’t in South CBD?), we chanced on Dainty Sichuan Noodle Express situated on the ground floor within the World Square complex. I was later blown away to find out that just within the World Square block alone, there were 52 different food & drink establishments! That’s crazy, we’re very spoilt for choice! And although we didn’t plan to eat here, we were pleasantly surprised to find an airy inviting restaurant with a relaxed vibe to it, offering dumplings, hand-made noodles and snacks (what you’d expect from Chinatown) but with a CBD-like sophistication.
The polite and efficient staff saw us to our table, and after a short deliberation we decided on Fried Crispy Chicken Balls as a starter, Stewed Pork Belly Noodle soup, and 12 Prawn and Cucumber Dumplings to share.
I guess the ‘Express’ word in its title was the reason why it was a part full-service/part self-service restaurant, as you had to make your order at the counter and pay on the spot (the food was delivered to your table though). As we waited I assessed their table setting, scoring them 2 stars out of 5 on the napkin test (all of your cutlery and serviettes were grouped to the centre of the table for self-service); the chopsticks were nice reusable ones, while the soup spoons were disposable. The actual ambience of the restaurant was modern, with artful fixtures on the ceilings; an open kitchen where you could hear all that was going on in there; and diners had the option of eating alfresco or inside under cover. While the Mando pop playlist was a stand-out for us, we spent most of lunch playing music-association e.g. “Hey! This band sounds like a Mando version of Nickleback!” And later on there was a Mando Linkin Park sound-alike, it was hilarious!
When the food arrived (it was a very brief wait), our game of music-association extended into a game of food-association, the Fried Chicken Balls were like KFC popcorn chicken (which wasn’t a bad thing) right down to the self-made Sweet & Sour dipping sauce (Exhibit A). While the Braised Pork Belly with Noodles in soup, the flat noodles were kind of like your typical thick rice noodles found in the Thai dish Pad Kee Mao, but it was also actually a nice hand-made noodle which had a great chewy texture to it. The pork was cooked perfectly, however the soup and the pork belly was a little bit on the bland side. But I can put my hand-up and admit that it was probably my fault, as I was steering away from every dish which had a 2 or 3 chilli rating next to it (although most people come to a Sichuan restaurant for a chilli hit), as I was still traumatised from my Southern Thai experience (see previous posts). Our third dish, the Prawn and Cucumber Dumplings, were a bit of a letdown for us, as the dumplings ended up being a non-descript mouthful of boiled mush; the prawns were diced into small pieces (perhaps 3 fragments per dumpling), and again it was a little tasteless. But for each dish the portions were large, fairly priced for the CBD, and it did hit the spot without hitting the hip pocket too hard which is always nice. *Thumbs-up*.
So all in all, the food was a little unremarkable, the restaurant itself was modern and clean (a nice change from the usual Chinatown establishments), and the service was polite and efficient. So 3.5 stars is a fair assessment of the entire experience, and I would definitely come back to try something more spicy in the future, once I get over my chilli PTSD (Post-Thai Spice-Disorder).
This is my favourite spot for Chongqing noodles especially the spicy noodles with beef. The spice is hot and peppery and gives the numbing feeling to your mouth which is very intense at the “normal” level. I prefer my noodles with a mild level of spice which you can request when ordering (微辣 or wei la). The dry mixed noodles with minced pork and peas was also really good but you can’t adjust the spice level in this one. Overall, service is fast and a great spot for a quick meal.

Pigs ears, chicken hearts, tripe - yes they have all these things here at Dainty Sichuan Noodle Express - but they also have so much more - as well as food for the slightly less adventurous. We were visiting for a slightly less adventurous quick meal and still had so many different dishes to choose from.
Arrived here feeling pretty nervous despite being a fan of 🌶 🐉
Ordered the signature chilli noodle dish w beef as well as some spicy sides 🍢
The soup was hot af but I loved it and will definitely be back to try more on their menu!!
Tried this place with a mate who wanted something spicy. God damn, we ordered the signature dish and boy it was spicy. Highly recommend for folks who love to try spicy foods.
I've been living in Chongqing for 4 years and been to Chengdu several times. To be honest, the food here worth at least 3 points. Except the type of the noodle, this is almost what you can get in China. And in most restaurants like this, you have to pay up front. So, don't judge. However, when I was going to rate 4 as encouragement, I asked for water but that waitress never came. I had to ask again and another waitress showed up impatiently. I changed to 3.5.
Someone told me that this restaurant in Sydney is not as good as dainty Sichuan Melbourne....i went there the other day, the food didn’t taste different! I think dainty Sichuan has standardised their food quality. I liked it : )
Located conveniently in the middle of world square. I watched as the "coming soon" sign was there for more than half a year. Overall, this noodle express did not disappoint. Its called an express for a reason, you go in expecting to get a seat as there is no obvious pay-here-first counter, but no .. You need to order your food and pay at the counter that is located in the middle of the restaurant. Once you get your number and receipt, you get seated at one of the seats they assign you. A bit confusing if you asked me!
They have a great selection of noodles and snacks. Aside from a few, most of them come in either spice levels of 1 or 3 chillies. I could not really taste the chill in their 1 chill dishes, so I wouldn’t be too worried if you cant take your heat.
We went for the pigs feet noodles and beef skewers. Remember when I said 1 chill dishes were not hot at all? Well there is a big step taken with 2 chills. The beef skewers (2 chills) was dunked in what looked like chill oil and sauce. I was trying my best not to choke because I knew I would have pretty much have died if I did. There was a wide range of skewers in the set. Portion of each skewer was small though and thinly sliced, at times it was hard to figure out what it was I was eating as there just wasn’t enough bite.
The pigs feet were soft and tender. Obviously cooked for a long time (as it should be). Soup for the noodles was nice and packed a punch, similar to Taiwanese noodle soup base.
Pros : Its new and clean. Great range of noodles. Dessert selection looks good.
Con : Price can be considered expensive compared to other Chinese noodles nearby.
Must get : Pig's feet
Dainty Sichuan, in my opinion, is a welcome addition to World Square! I've been here a couple of times now and have absolutely loved it each time!
I usually order the spicy chongqing noodles with pork mince and peas, it's oily and salty af but I adore it. True to its name, it is *quite* spicy and always has me reaching for the water.
What I'm not a huge fan of is the space (or lack thereof) in this restaurant. It is so unbelievably cramped inside!! It doesn't detract from the food, but it would be nice to be able to enjoy a meal without being packed in like sardines.
My favorite Sichuan noodle. Strongly recommend Chongqing spicy noodle with beef.
...........................................................
Line was quite long but moved quickly (15 mins max). They provide menus while you wait so you can order before you even sit down.
As someone with a Sichuan background I can say that the flavours of the dishes I tasted here were very authentic. The chicken skewers and pork belly side dishes were great. I recommend the pork intestine noodles as they have excellent flavour and portioning and had me asking for water.
Delicious place with quick service and very spicy food. The potato noodles (酸辣粉)are towards the authentic end of the spectrum and the dry noodles (served with minced meat and chickpeas) were nice and firm.
Mouth numbing and lip tingling, but totally worth it.
Authentic Sichuan cuisine. Could be very spicy to some. Delicious food if you can take the heat. Non spicy food are nice too. Visited a couple of times and would come back. Conveniently located in the middle of the city and many specialty shops around.
Love their pork knuckles a lot and it never fails to satisfy me.
Had the lamb for the first time and it’s not really nice as expected though it was not tender but hard to chew too. The rice set looks like canteen style not really that appealing.
Table water is self serve at the side of entrance. Not really table service but order and pay with the cashier. Maybe a lot of customers ran away without paying the bill after eating.
Everything is about spicy and if you don’t have a strong tummy, don’t even think of eating here.
I had the beef noodle soup. Actually, I was expecting to have fried chicken noodles that time but it was not available :(
It wasn't bad after all which is great!
For the drinks, I had the wintermelon drink which is highly recommended. For desserts, I tried their fried rice cake and I loved it!!!
You can have a great deal via groupon. Noodle dish and a drink for only about $9.99

5 stars for the bowls of noodles. So flavorful and tasty!! 3 star for the service. Maybe her face might crack if she smiles. But definitely go there for the noodles, you won't regret it!
Dined here for dinner, got a chicken noodle dish, pork dumplings and plum juice ķ The food came out quick, there is some seating available. They were quite hygienic with hand sanitizer. Centrally located with low to moderate seating, a reasonably priced meal with a good menu.
