Personal favourite: deep fried egg plant & mushroom. Order a new potato & tofu this time. Taste quite similar to three cup chicken & highly recommended. Nice place for any vege lovers :) btw, the deep fried and sweet sour fish is the best!

Great value with good portions! I ordered the lu rou fan, and it comes with a generous side dish (i got fried boneless chicken). You can add $1 extra for a drink (wintermelon or black tea).

There also cheap and small side dishes that you can get from the front to accompany your meal.

Service is quick. It seems to be a restaurant thats always has lines so be prepared. They do take your order when youre waiting to be more time efficient.

We visited this Taiwanese eatery last week after many years of absence, not being in the area that often. It was great to see that the food is just as good as it was 15 years ago, very reasonably priced and well cooked. Service is friendly and efficient. Their set meals come with a main, rice and a couple of accompaniments (usually egg, vegetable or tofu) and a slice of orange to finish. There are also a variety of small side dishes on display that you can pick and choose from. The place can get busy but turnover is fast.

A clear winner in the area, much like the small Taiwan street restaurants, the place is quite small and can only fit a few people in at a time. I ordered the Taiwan Minced Pork with rice set with a side and you can add a drink for +$1. The minced pork has a great taste and the radish gives it an extra flavour. There's a lot of rice so it is very filling and I would recommend the side dish of fried chicken or pork chop. Overall, they have fast service and have had a great experience.

This is quite good Taiwanese restaurant quality. Have a lots of cold dishes menu and shouldn't miss a bowl of pork mince rice. Jelly pork ear was a very interesting dish to try too. But it will be very long queues for linch time.

One of my favourite places for Taiwanese food in Sydney. Their pork mince rice is my favourite! The small rice + a side + a drink for $14 is a steal! You definitely get your money’s worth and a full stomach as well.

You know a place is good when theres a queue outside a line of restaurants and you will not be disappointed with this humble authentic taiwanese joint. Highly recommend the braised pork with rice and the fried pork chops. The cold dishes are the bomb-my fav are (if you dare) pig ears, bamboo shoots and mushrooms w. glutinous balls. Also don't go without trying their pearl milk tea, it's the best I've had!

Highly satisfying 15 dollars meal. The fried chicken pieces at this place are so good and addictive. The only downside is that the line could get long.

In an unappealing ground floor of office building. This is the most authentic Taiwan food outlet in Sydney and potentially Australia. Limited seating means you have to wait outside for up to 30 mins. But the wait is defiantly worth it. The display is filled with self server cold tapas. Yummy yummy. I often will get take away tapas when I visit Sydney for work to take back to melbourne

Fyi They don't serve dumplings.
This place has a nice family run vibe and the people who work here are really sweet and friendly. They serve really good and great value Taiwanese food. Lots of people order take-away from this place I noticed while dining here too. Check them out.

The very best hot & sour soup in town, I never get it anywhere else. Must've had it here dozens of times over the years.

For something like $11 you can get Taiwanese minced pork on rice, soup, and a choice of side dish - try the fried tofu. If it's before 5pm, there's a soup & side dish snack deal for a lot less, & you get to sit down with hot tea as well. Small & crowded, which is fair enough for the price.
Efficient & busy takeaway service.

The cold dishes are small, cheap & interesting. If you're not an offal fan then check the descriptions carefully, or ask. Vegetarian dishes include chilli bamboo shoots, mashed potato, fried eggplant, soya skin, pickled cucumber.... Eat in or takeaway this place is reliable for good food, bargain prices, no frills.

Don't let the name fool you, there's no dumplings here but that's not what you go here for.
This place has always been my staple on good value Taiwanese food, the cold little dishes are always a delicious adventure, the set meals are delicious and full of variety and that pork in the meat sauce rice just melts in your mouth.
This is a must try hole in the wall place in Sydney.

No dumplings here.... Hehe. But what they do sell is traditional Taiwanese side dishes and a menu of yummy Taiwanese food too. There iced Green Tea drink is probably my most favourite item besides the side dishes whenever I go there. The stewed pork with rice is also a hit and the beef noodle soup is a must try also! Possibly the best Taiwanese food I've had in Sydney ever!

Cho Dumpling King is always surrounded by a queue of people. Often you'll find a staff member acting as bouncer to the crowds. She hands out menus with brusque efficiency, and it's only when you've placed your order that she'll put your table numbers down in her notepad queue. The restaurant name is a bit of a misnomer. There are no dumplings to be found here. Instead it's a mix of Taiwanese dishes, all printed in large on the window, each accompanied by photos. The window offers a visual enticement of side dishes, all neatly plated and ready to be served. You only need to decide on your main meals outside before you communicate them to the bouncer -- side dishes can be chosen ad hoc once you're inside the restaurant. The side dishes are cold but wide and varied, including pig ears, deep-fried white bait, pork hock slices, potato salad, golden fried prawns and plates of baby octopus. They're also super cheap at only $3.50 each. Queues outside Cho Dumpling King The restaurant itself is

The side dishes for $3.50 are one of the best parts about this place. You can also get them takeaway, a good addition to a take home roast duck from Emperor Noodles. Clockwise from top left: a salad of soy beans, pickled mustard greens and grated bamboo shoot, or was that potato; cold baby octopus in a light soy; hard pressed tofu sliced with chilli; dry fried green beans with speckles of pork mince.

No, they don't sell dumplings. But they do sell excellent stewed pork rice! Cheap, filling and very authentic too, even the side dishes themselves are great and worth trying out. I think this is in fact the best Taiwanese joint I've been to in Australia.

A family favorite for us! We are regulars and a day out in the city is practically incomplete without having a feed here. Although there is a guaranteed wait, the turnaround is quick (t be afraid to try the sides either! Only negative is the fact that they (ironically) do dumplings at all anymore! Oh and on occasion some new staff members are a bit pushy. A great little place t

Its been over a year since I've been here and sadly they aren't doing dumplings anymore.. However the reason I used to come here regularly and the reason I will come here again is their magnificent beef noodle soup. Its simply the best soup broth I've ever tasted. They also have a large selection of sides, I like the chilli bean curd and bamboo combination.

Few of the authentic Taiwanese cuisine (originates from chinese cuisine, with more garlic and spicies added to it) around Sydney. Being Taiwanese myself, this is definitely my favorite! Don't forget to try the eggplant side dish, looks oily so make sure u have it with rice. delicious!!

Decades old Taiwanese restaurant in Sydney, Chinatown. Don’t let their name fool you, they not a dumpling restaurant. They serve Taiwanese comfort food. Their braised pork belly rice (滷肉飯) while is not as good as the ones in Taiwan but definitely one of the better ones in Sydney. Unfortunately, their so call signature hot and sour soup is, IMO, a lame duck hot and sour soup. Not spicy and not sour, despite it is full of ingredient. It seems like they compromising for local tastes. The best and absolutely must try are their side dishes, just walk up to the display cabinet and point to whatever looks good, the staff will do the rest.

This is Taiwanese style cuisines, located near Haymarket. Price is affordable with amazing taste. I've been here many times and never boring with the food package. Try mince pork with rice in large size, you can add $2 for drink option. There's hot plain tea as a complementary.

I got some takeaway side dishes and the noodle. I loved all of them. The bitter melon was a bit bitter than I expected, but after all, it makes a good balance with other dishes. I'd love to try other dishes too next time. There were so many choices!

My absolute all time favourite place for a delicious Taiwanese meal that doesn’t burn the wallet. Have been coming here for over ten years and still constantly craving to go back - I’ve even been to Taiwan several times now and still find myself craving Cho’s. Love their minced pork rice and fried chicken wings. Iced black tea is always a nice finish to the meal. Also don’t forget to get some of their side dishes! You can see the options available in the fridges near the window and ask them to bring them to you. Highly recommend the marinaded pig ears 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Taiwanese eatery that serve simple food but tasty. Plenty of cold dish to choose from and most of them are tasty. The Bento style meal very nice. Simple side dish. During lunch or dinner time can be long wait for table since the restaurant pretty small. Not suitable for large group or large person. Price relatively cheap

This is a small restaurant and sometimes you have to wait outside for a while but it is worth the wait. You can choose from the menu what you want or just go for small side dishes that are on display. It is best to go early as it can become quite busy. The fried pork and vermicelli beef are very delicious. If you do not want small dishes then can order from the set menu .
