Pretty authentic Singaporean cuisine. Fried Hokkien prawn Mee was really good one time and just ok the next. Fried Kway Teow very tasty. Chef was a little slow when it wasn't crowded. Will be back again. Cash only.
Been around a long time and always quality. Chicken rice is a must for the health conscious. Thanks Johnny.
Outstanding fried hokkien prawn mee 4.25/5, as close as you can get to a hawker style one served in singapore. Vermicelli and hokkien noodles mixed with velvety smooth gravy, punctuated by slices of pork and the crunch of bean shoots, along with fresh calamari and shrimps, it truly brought me back to late nights eats on the streets of singapore. Bits of crispy pork lard and wee bit more charred flavour would really have rounded this dish off but i am being overly critical. Make sure you savour this with some sambal belachan.
Hainan chicken rice 3.5/5, i am not 100% sure but maybe they use 'ayam kampoeng' which has less meat, less fat but more flavour. Trade off is meat has more texture. Rice is cooked well, chicken served warm but not deboned. Not a deal breaker for me.
Service is homely, joint is clean. Wish i live in the area but will def return to sample other items.
I have been coming here since they were in the Koala Hotel arcade since I was a 20 years old. Which is about 25 years ago when I used to work in Oxford street. I now have a family and they all love the food. I no longer work in the city but we make special trips all the way from Berowra just to eat at Singapura about once a month. Berowra is about a 50 minute drive to there. The food is absolutely delicious. John the owner is a really nice person and always makes our family feel so welcome, almost as part of his own family. The food is always of consistent quality. Never had a bad meal there as John really takes pride in what he does. The food is clean tasting and wouldn't be out of place being served in a super fancy 5 star restaurant.
I ordered chicken laksa and the Chief was very friendly, he was able to cook the way I like with additional veggies and tofus. Great taste and I will come back to try his other dishes.
John's fiery Fried Kway Teow delivers a wok-testing flame grilled dish that lights up with a dash of sambal chilli.
Have never been disappointed by this glass-fogging dish while navigating through a plate of deliciously burnt hot mess.
Really tackles Mondays to the ground. Five thumbs up!
