Been here several times and absolutely love the authentic flavours here. Black sesame, single origin matcha, and the kyoto iced coffee. People have been recommending their Sakura or Yuzu. Personally, haven't tried those but I think the single origin matcha won't let you down if you're looking for some hot matcha in Sydney š
Lovely little dessert place in the city! Such a variety of great choices and delicious drinks/desserts. The black sesame latte was incredible!! Will definitely be coming back here to try more things!
Friendly staff, got the matcha parfait for $14.50, pretty yummy since I love matcha. I also got a regular matcha latte but it was a little less sweet than I wanted but overall a good place for matcha lovers
Creamy smooth and delicious matcha flavoured ice cream with a fragrant waffle come. Super aesthetic as well.
Good crowd with adequate seating indoors and outdoors. service was quick. Nice and cozy environment to catch up with friends. There were a wide range of matcha and hoji cha theme drinks and desserts. Savory menu looks impressive as well. Will try matcha or hoji cha with mandarin and yuzu toppings next time as it ran out.
The matcha ice cream wasnāt sweet. We ate the mochi combination with matcha ice cream , red beans , cornflakes. It would be good not to have the syrup with it.
I know Matcha Ya even before they open in Sydney. They already had branch (or maybe the headquarters) on Singapore before. But i never get chance to try when I was in Singapore. I could say this is one of the best matcha iāve ever had. Not really sweet and has bold matcha flavour. Price also not pricey.
amazing matcha and black sesame lattes, love the cups too. would be better if different milk could be used with them. also tried the matcha cake, only average i think.
5 stars for my fruits garden sundae!
Bold flavour of matcha and hojicha ice cream are winner! Not many of fruits but shiratama and small green tea sponge cake are good compliments.
The service is just okay. Communication is not so great but I can see they try their best to accommodate their customers. Keep it up!
Suprisely yummy and really ins friendly. Match isn't too far sweet but perfect much the mash mallow. Definitely will try it again sometime Love it!
Quite busy and limited seating, but service is still fast.
Unique Japanese food with most on the menu involving matcha (green tea).
Unique fusion with a modern twist. Definitely recommend, having the waffle burgers was delicious. Never thought the combination of waffles with savoury ingredients would compliment each other.
Desserts was delicious. Definitely must try.
Side note: Went to Matcha-Ya for desert and as usual the store is quite busy so it can be hard to find a table (especially on the weekend).
Review: I ordered the matcha waffle, it came with red bean, matcha icecream and mochi, the waffle was great, it wasn't overly sweet and it had a good crunch to it.
Personally I like the bitter matcha taste but the ice cream wasn't too bitter, so for those who enjoy more subtle flavours this would be great for you :)
Great cafe that specialises in matcha here in Darling Square! They offer a range of matcha desserts and drinks. They also has desserts other than matcha! I was so indecisive on what to choose. Love their soft serve!
Located in Darling Square, Matcha-Ya is a great place for matcha lovers šµš. You can enjoy deliciously yet balanced flavours of matcha, hojicha, and black sesame options in drinks and desserts. Some popular options are matcha soft serves, black sesame latte, matcha shiratana parfait, and cakes. Savoury picks include matcha rice, udon, lotus chips, matcha-ya edamame, to name a few.
The pricing is reasonable for the area, though a bit higher than other Japanese matcha places in the CBD. Love the āmari-kondoā interior.
A hip place to get some Japanese inspired ice cream and interesting dessert combinations.
The soft serve ice cream is decent with the matcha and houji-cha flavours and there's combinations to spruce up the ice cream into a full dessert bowl or tall glass.
The dessert combinations are good, keeping with the Japanese theme and generally not being too sweet, though the mochi balls could be better (they're not quite as smooth with the chewy texture that you get with really good mochi).
A great matcha dessert place for matcha lovers with a good selection of dessert range. Sadly we went at a wrong time where alot of stuff on the menu is not available. The matcha waffles was ok but the ice cream dessert was lovely
Never been the biggest fan of their matcha. I've tried their matcha (cold and hot), matcha frappes and soft serves but they've all tasted powdery to me :(
However, their savoury menu items are where it's at. Highly recommend the chicken katsu matcha waffle burger! It was a savoury sensation with a hint of sweetness from the waffle - an absolute flavour bomb.
If you crave amazing matcha dessert but donāt mind queuing during peak hours, this is the place to be! Definitely need to try the matcha roll and soft serve, so so good!
