Idk why people are complaining get the takeout. Food is cheap and tastes decent. Service is ok but you’re paying low prices. Inside isn’t the greatest so takeout is a must

We go to Emperor's Garden BBQ & Noodles on Thomas St regularly - it's one of our local favourites. Although it's known for BBQ it has other dishes that we love. The vegetarian fried rice is the best we've had - fluffy, never greasy, fragrant with a lovely smoky flavour and plenty of the good stuff like chopped bamboo heart, egg, mushrooms & vegetables. The salt & pepper tofu is amazing - big chunks of really fresh, beautifully textured, fried tofu with just the right amount of seasoning and topped with chopped fresh chilli & shallots. Fantastic mushroom dishes - big, fat succulent Chinese mushrooms with veges or in a hearty hotpot.
The servings are all very generously sized so while mains are around $28 they're designed for sharing between 2 or more people.
The service is efficient and straight-forward. If getting your order correct and quickly to your table is more important than fake smiles, then this is the place for you.
Decor is not fancy - the space is basically a large, square room with tiled floor but they've made an effort to warm up the look with a huge traditional-style paper and ink-brush wall hanging, as well as assorted red Chinese lanterns and fans.
We notice that most of the other customers are Chinese people, which is always a good sign that the food is the real deal. We keep coming back because it's never let us down.
Not the flashy Emperor's Garden, this is Canton Bbq fast feed. You can order shiny bbq duck and pork from the street. The duck noodles is generous, nice crunchy egg noodles and clean, clear and tasty broth.
This place is my a-must for every trip to Sydney from Brisbane. Tried the wanton noodle soup which is ok. Service is so so but the attractive items are those displays at the front section of this restaurant. See through the glass window are BBQ Pork, Roast Pork, Roast duck, Suckling pig, soya or steamed chickens and .............They are so delicious......
Beautiful crispy skin duck. Had a 4 course duck lunch with a Scoupon voucher today. Service was fine and the duck dishes were all superb. Started with duck spring rolls, then 3 crispy spin Peking duck pancakes, with plenty of meat as well as a beautiful crispy skin (3 each), then duck san choy bow (2 each) then finished with shredded duck meat chow mein. Only disappointing thing (that didn't bother us) was the fact that the "lavish fresh fruit platter to finish" was actually two slices of watermelon!!! I wish we had bought more vouchers as this was excellent value and very tasty.

Emperor's Garden BBQ Noodles is the old school Hong Kong style of Chinese restaurant we love so dearly. Inside is decor schmecor, plain and simple but with plenty of room to swing a chopstick. There's a touch of formality to the dagginess: waiters in white shirts, a small wine list, which makes this joint a pleasant yet casual spot where we've often ended up with visitors and family over the years. It's a special kind of place.
Excellent value for money - great traditional kitchen if you don't care about the surroundings
Good b.b.q and noodles. When are people(other reviewers) going to realize, if you want Cheap food don't expect full service.
Simple and delicious, some items which I have eaten before are served different here, yet a lot more tasty, must try!
Prompt,efficient service great predinner venue for Capitol theatre show. I was recommended this restaurant by a Chinese friend of mine because I wanted to try Peking Duck which she has eaten several times at this restaurant. Some members of our party didn't want to try the duck so we ordered other meals but I would like to go back to try their Peking Duck which is $56 for 12 pancakes and San Choy Bow or a stir fry with the remainder of the duck meat Many locals were buying takeaway bbq duck from the front of the restaurant. We ordered sizzling steak, mongolian lamb, fried rice and salt and pepper prawn which we all enjoyed. The other dish was a ginger chicken which tasted great but was very difficult to find the meat from the bone. Decor was ordinary but clean and a great place to have a quick meal before going to the theatre, Cost wasn't cheap - we spent $40 per head but that included alcohol.
