Review Gyuzou - Sydney

Amy
This BBQ was very memorable. The only problem I had with it was that no matter how many times I ordered something, they would never bring it out. Along with the ridiculous price for an adult, shocking. You will also get a time limit when eating here, as well as having to pay more if you want something. Overall it was a fun experience and the staff were super friendly, explaining to us what were the foods we ordered. There is such a great range of food so try it out!!

Decided to give this place a try for a catch up. The beef cuts were up and down - some were quite tender and on point, some soso. The ox tongue was too thin and lost its texture and the yukke was a bit dry. However I think the buffet price is good value, if you eat a bit - and you can order the whole menu. There are also some decent sake available. Good thing is that the ventilation was good, didn't get too smelly! Overall not too bad for a casual eat.

One of the better bbq places in the city. The ordering system is very convenient - you can use your phone to order via a QR code. The staff are very attentive. It's overall a nice experience. Food is good quality and came out relatively quick.

Been in 3 times & never disappointed. The best Korean/Japanese BBQ in Sydney .Staffs are our friendly, exceptional customer service from Manager Jason. Great selection of food. Definitely recommend this place.
Jana
The meat was of very good quality. The seafood is fresh as well! Service is fast and staff is indeed attentive. The way to order is by scanning a code and order through your phone which I found very effective. I can’t remember the last time I enjoyed an all you can eat dinner!

If anyone wants to come here for meat, not for the seafood then it is the right place. All the meats are good, they had wagyu, cheeks and everything. If you paid by cash, it’s 15% discount so prepare to go to the bank. Their ice-cream tastes really good, soft serve, flavorful. However, we call to the store 5 times to advise that we will be late for 10 mins and no one pick up. I call again and they hang up immediately so it seems like no one wants to pick up and phone. Sashimi is so so, I can’t really taste anything in the sashimi. There’s simply no flavor at all? The eel nigiri appearance looks unappetizing, not only that it is super cold, yukke seems not defrost enough as there’s still ice in it. Personally I think there are better places out there only for meat BBQ.

I strongly recommend this place!!!! High quality of food and service. All staffs were so kind and friendly!!! I am sure i will come this place again “Gyuzou” Thank you for taking care our table😊

One of the authentic wagyu buffet bbq in Sydney! The meat that had been served was fresh! Iike the ambiance, it is not that smoky. They used a good quality of griller as well that will make the cooking moments good! The customer service is top-notch as well! Definitely, I will be back.

Japanese BBQ at Gyuzou bbq is filled with top quality cuts of premium wagyu beef, the freshest seafood and an assortment of sides. WOW was the word repeating out of me as the lovely staff kept bringing out platter after platter of fantastic produce for us to cook over the grill. The wagyu especially was super juicy and thick cut so we were able to get it beautifully medium rare- I mean, look at that marbling!<br/><br/>Located just up from the Chinese Gardens on the corner of Liverpool St, it is a must visit for an epic spread!<br/>

Attending Gyuzou for lunch with a group of friends and was absolutely blown away by the insane variety of the menu and the sheer quality. <br/>First thing to note, this is not located directly on Sussex st, you need to turn right and follow the building around as entry is at the rear off Liverpool St. <br/>Back to the food; the thing that really stood out to me was the generous portions of meal but also the quality and thickness. The sashimi was sliced thick along with the bbq meats and the quality was spot on. We enjoyed a big array of food and every piece delivered on taste. Cannot wait to return.

Wagyu beef on rock salt, yes you read that right!<br/>The food on offer here was divine, fresh sashimi, scallops and sushi and prime cuts of meat all using premium ingredients, this place has it all.<br/>I highly recommend the Japanese BBQ Yakiniku for any special occasion, located up the road from the Chinese gardens on the corner of Liverpool and Sussex Street<br/>

Fast and many choice food. Good price of buffet. Amazing services. Good quality meats & sooooo fresh of seafood, sashmi and sushi

Great Japanese BBQ. Got the discounted voucher from Groupon with great value. The wagyu beef is fatty but tasty. Love their salmon sashimi as well.

Very affordable Japanese Yakiniku buffet in the CBD however, always understaffed and orders will get missed. Meat quality for premium buffet is good, but tuna sashimi wasn’t fresh. Best to make a booking to get a nice table otherwise they’d try to squeeze you in between people on their large tables
Zixin Fang
Price is higher but the choice is limited. Before there has scallops with 55$ premium. But now the sashimi only has two options. So disappointed. Maybe never go there anymore.

To start with, I never ever write reviews because I am a very easy person and understanding when it comes to hospitality as I myself work in this industry. However, the service from this restaurant was so appalling that I do not recommend anyone to come. Here are my reason why:<br/><br/>(1) I booked an appointment for 10 people. But they managed to sit us in a corner where we are all squashed together with a perfectly long table is right across us. But this is not where I became bothered.<br/>(2) We have ordered a lot of food, salads and meats. But it took 30 minutes for most of them to come out. Not even. Which is why we ordered more food but they were still taking 30 minutes to come out. It was becoming more stressful as we have a time limit. We informed the waitress but she was very unapologetic and did not follow up with our order as she just ignored us and walked away. Three different waitress have done this. Not only that, the rice dishes we have ordered from the first set of orders came out after an HOUR of waiting.<br/>(3)There is a button that we can press to grab the waitress attention because we were seated upsides, so there was no waitresses to be found (which is just plain stupid). We clicked the button 6 times within 10 minutes apart. NO ONE CAMMMMEEE<br/>(4) You order 5 sets of 5 pieces of meat, but when it comes out you only get 10 pieces of meat. I would be very understanding if the waitress had just kindly talk to us but I don't think any of them can speak English. I could only get 3 words out of them, literally. <br/><br/>So the bottom line is this, you are paying $55 per person for "all you can eat buffet" when it is really you are paying to wait for food, but not only that, very limited food.<br/><br/>I would give no star rating if I could. This may seem extreme but just do yourself a favour and save your money for something that is worth your money.

The meat was good and the ice cream was great, service was not as bad as mentioned in other reviews, most of the food came out quickly. The cold noodles were absolutely amazing! <br/>Only point was that even though the food is good, it definitely isn’t worth 55$. There’s another bbq right next door which is almost as good and at 30$

First time to this restaurant , the others in the same group was good in other locations.<br/>We had to order on pieces of paper instead of the touchpad, worse of all they slowed the food coming out and they purposely forgot the orders even after reminding them .<br/>Won't be coming here again bad experience.<br/><br/>
Kenneth Quan
We had buffet at this restaurant. For the buffet, we had to write our orders on pieces of papers, which was not too convenient. The food was quite good. However, the service was slow and the staff seemed a bit over-worked. Half the time we were just staring at the empty barbeque pit.

Who can say no to "All you can eat Yakiniku"?<br/><br/>At 55 dollars per head for 90mins this place is worth every dollar. Delicious and good quality meats with great side and if you want you can get unlimited soft drinks for $5.<br/><br/>Well worth a visit and decent price, they also have a la carte menu so you don't have to stuff your face.<br/><br/>#asianfoodninja @asianfoodninja

| Haymarket | Gyuzou | 📍 This has to be one of the best Japanese style barbecue places I have tried for its value and quality of meats and variety. Service was superb and staff like friendly, They also have a great deal for all yakiniku items for $7.90 and sushi for $3.50. .<br/>This place is special as you can choose which marinade goes on whichever yakiniku meat you like.<br/>Some of the meats we have ordered were..<br/>.<br/>🐷Pork belly (Delish)<br/>🐮Wagyu chuck flap ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️<br/>🐮Wagyu cube roll⭐️⭐️⭐️<br/>🐮Wagyu loin⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️<br/>🐮Wagyu short rib⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ( fav)<br/>🥢Side dishes<br/>.<br/>Everything on the menu were quite succulent, tender and delightful. BBQ at the city<br/><br/>This place is awesome, great food, affordable price yet a bit slow waitress/waiter. Meat was pretty good for its price, all you can eat for 55 dollars including green tea ice cream!<br/><br/>(To be continued)

Price is ok<br/>Wagyu so standard nothing special.<br/>Ox tongue - so thin.. <br/>sashimi - all good, nice and fresh.<br/>Dessert - i love the ice cram <br/>Service - i think they need more staff. <br/>Overall.. i would... say i will not come back.. again. :) <br/>

A barbecue that provides high quality plates and meat. The service however could be improvised as we had to ask twice occasionally for additional utensils, overall Gyuzo offers high quality food and I am sure the poor service was just a one-off situation

Honestly the Japanese BBQ i’ve ever eaten in my entire life. Their cheese fondue was AMAZING with any choice of meat! Will definitely be a returning customer. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place

Guys trust meee, if you guys want your food after 5 hours u place an order this is the place to go. Had absolutely the worst experience ive ever had at a restaurant. I have never complained ever at restaurant and the horrible customer service they provide, the atmosphere, the very average food that cost 55pp where you can get somewhere else for waaayy cheaper. This place was extremely dissapointing please dont waste ur time. I dont want anyone to have a ruined day because of this place<br/>
Ryan Dongsheng Jiang
One of the worst customer services I’ve experienced. Two problems should be addressed:<br/>1, waitress kept missing orders. Out of 10 orders I gave, only about 6 were actually served.<br/>2, food (most were raw meat that basically needed no processing) was served extremely slowly. No matter how early we order our food there was always this awkwardly long break when we’ve finished all our current foods and waiting for new orders of food to be served.
Yui Tang
Very disappointed. Was actually looking forward to the buffet as the menu looks very similar to Suminoya's menu<br/>But the reality is<br/>Order system-On paper by yourself, terrible<br/>Customer service -Slow<br/>Food deliver -Slow<br/>Food Quality 2/10 not fresh <br/><br/>Will not come again in the future <br/>
Brunonono...
Some of the "brightest" waiters we've seen in a long time...booked for three and well table only had two sets of cutlery....40mins after ordering only California roll, dumplings and rice brought to the table....and finally a waitress comes to the table and asks us if we ordered anything else - genius! <br/><br/>Followed next by we must have lost your meat order...haha no you didn't since you brought us other food without fail that was on the same order...it's only funny that we knew what had happened since when the table asked a waiter what this raw beef thing was and that they hadn't ordered it, was it removed and placed<br/>onto our table...yes we ordered it...note the cracked egg yolk that no sane kitchen would send out!<br/><br/>And then to tell us oh we are sorry and we'll give you back the 90mins...that's a very interesting apology especially when we were not at fault :) <br/><br/>Literally the bottom of the list of Yakinku places...seriously just pay $5 more and go to Suminoya and you'll have a much better time!<br/><br/>Side note*** that's uncooked meat in the gyoza :)
Gilbert.tanaya
quality is decreasing over time, now the wagyu oyster blade or short rib has no marble = regular beef. Very dissapointing as this is used to be my regular japanese bbq restaurant to go.
Lala
This is operating by Korean not the authentic Japanese BBQ. The quality of the meat is quite low, not recommend.<br/>If you are the fans of Japanese BBQ, you better to chose other one.
Mr Food
[Update: Just visited for the third time and I must say this visit was a big disappointment. I had the a la carte thinking that the quality of the meat would be better than the buffet but to my utmost disappointment, Gyuzou had decided to serve cuts of meat akin to the buffet I had. Suffice to say the meat was not premium grade wagyu, and was a big disappointment. It goes without saying, I will not be returning here and if you like premium quality cuts of meat, I suggest you don't waste your time here unless someone can confirm that they will resume serving high quality cuts of meat in the future.]<br/><br/>I have been here a couple of times and have ordered both the a la carte and premium buffet. The premium buffet had very sub par cuts of meat. The loin that I ordered from the "premium" side of the menu was very disappointing. Little to no marbling, the cuts were too thin, and wasn't juicy and not tender. Ordered the harami as well and I think its probably one of the worst quality harami I have had. <br/><br/>On my a la carte visit I ordered the oyster blade, tongue and short rib. The blade and tongue were good cuts, well marbled and fresh. Unfortunately the tongue was a tough and dry (not because I overcooked it - I'm a yakiniku veteran). I think the slices were a little bit too thin, no room for juices to stay inside, or maybe the meat quality itself wasn't too good. I wouldn't recommend ordering the tongue. <br/><br/>The a la carte and buffet are two very different experiences. I would never have come back here if it was the buffet I had ordered first. This place could do with quite a bit of improvement.

Service is really good, food are the best. I like the ox tounge and wagyu (dip in melted cheese). Even the salad and desserts are really nice. One of the best bbq place in Sydney.
Rebecca Tay
Service was friendly but overwhelmed. We had the buffet option where you order as you go. At times there was a long wait and we weren't sure if our order had gone through. <br/>Overall we enjoyed the food. There's a wide range of meat, sushi and sides to pick from. The black sesame and green tea ice cream were also good.
MsBrulee
Yakiniku Gyuzou specialise in an all you can eat wagyu beef buffet. What’s notable is that the BBQ grills have inbuilt exhaust fans around the edges. So afterwards, there are no lingering BBQ smells of rendered beef fat, a much appreciated feature since I’m aware that’s a common complaint of all you can eat BBQ buffets.
Reynaldo
I think this place serves the most affordable wagyu. We decided to go with the ala carte menu and managed to try the amazing wagyu blade and ox tongue. If you like the raw meat, you might want to try the wagyu yukke.
Sarah&Gluttony
For $55 you get a premium all you can eat menu including sashimi, Wagyu beef, and main meals. The downside of this offer is that you can't personally select the food, and you need to call for the waiter every time you need a refill. <br/>I found that this procedure has led to inattentive service and annoyed staff. They kept bringing us the wrong food or forgetting our orders. There were long waiting times, and it led to a point that both my group and the waiters got lost in translation. So we weren't very satisfied with the service. <br/>The food however was amazing, so I hope to eventually return ;)

This is a really fun place to go with friends. I had never actually been to a Japanese barbecue so I didn't really know what to expect! We ordered the $45/head buffet which lasts for 90 minutes. You can pick and choose from a pretty large assortment of meats, seafood and sides. The Wagyu skirt...
Mike Mikeyp
definitely not the cheapest, however, as a Yakiniku lover, this is really good. The BBQ's are nice and hot, and the big mixed wagyu and seafood platter is awesome.
Espresso&Matcha
For our last dinner, Queen V and I were in the mood for a DIY style meal. That basically left us the options of either a hot pot or a yakiniku (BBQ). Having done a bit of research online, we found that our best bet was to get it at Gyuzou, which is situated along Sussex Street, towards Chinatown. With its touch screen ordering, and its embedded BBQ, it reminded me of a cross between Wagaya and Nonbei.

This place had improved ALOT and I give them full credit for it.<br/><br/>I've been here many times, a couple times I was disappointed because the beef was so chewy<br/><br/>But they have improved the quality a lot, and the wagyu now is great. Prices are good too.<br/><br/>Staff need some work in terms of their customer service skills but I will be back.

New favorite place! Went here for the first time last night for my birthday at got the "awesome buffet" for $55pp. Definitely worth the money considering how much wagyu beef and sashimi I ate. Also got some fresh prawn, scallop, and variety deep fried dishes. And premium buffet is including salmon sushi as well. Wagyu beef is also over 6 different parts. Staff explain which part is melt or tough. It was so pretty funny experience. At the end of the meal, I ordered 3 different types of ice creams. It was all a bit of fun of group! I will definitely be back with my boy friend again.
Wheresthefood
Don't get the buffet. Been there a few times. Usually costs $30-40 per person. Affordable and okay quality of food. Tonight we found out they do buffet now so we had the premium buffet which is $55pp. However the buffet wagyu was really low quality wagyu. No marbling at all. Does not taste like wagyu. The pork on the other hand was full of fat. Limited selection of sides. I don't expect we get same quality wagyu as the a la carte wagyu but please buffet doesn't mean you can just give us such low quality beef. Very disappointed.
Liu
the wagyu is not fresh and really different from what the pic looks like. Definitely not worth such a high rating. The only good thing is the salad.
Narissa
Literally my favourite Japanese bbq spot! The meat was such good quality and the service was very friendly. I always have cravings to go back there every now and then. If you want to taste quality meat that melts in your mouth with every bite, this is definitely the place to go!

I've been to a number of Japanese diners, some are affordable and filling, some are extravagant and pricey but nothing beats GYUZOU"s delicious Japanese bbq with a full range of delicious wagyu meat, cheap ramen, cheap cocktails and mango beer! It"s Sydney CBD location and cosy environment makes it the perfect date night dinner after work to a group gathering. Now off to the Friday night market down at Chinatown for a nice stroll!

There needs to be more Japanese bbq like this place. Although abit pricey, the meat was deliciously worth it. Recommend the wagyu short rib and oyster blade. Cheese fondue with the meat was surprisingly good and a must try! Did I forget to mention the touch screen ordering system?

The beef are amazing. They taste good even without seasoning :D!!! Both seafoods and pork are average. Love their waygu

Nice atmosphere, i have fun with the touch screen actually.<br/>The wagyu is too good, but i found it a bit salty when ordering with salt. Yakiniku sauce is ok. Nice try.

Another BBQ joint you say? Yes where there is BBQ joints aplenty in the are this is a little different. Why? Cause it’s Japanese BBQ and not only Japanese BBQ but Wagyu BBQ! So what’s the difference? Well let’s face it BBQ is found in many countries around the world. All slightly different (or very different with respect to American BBQ) but it all comes down to delicious grilled food and in particular meat. Why Japanese BBQ is different to the similar looking Korean BBQ is that with Japanese Yukiniku the meat is not marinated or seasoned. It’s just straight up flavourful cuts of meat which is grilled and then dipped in a selection of sauces.
DroolWorthyWorld
Assorted wagyu...The meat was succulent and incredibly juicy. It tasted even better when dipped in the complimentary sauces: Chilli Oil, Salt and sweet soy Yakiniku Sauce. But it’s important to eat these meat portions in moderation as they’re very, very fatty given the high marble ratings.
Snapshots Of Food
Obligatory top down shot of everything we had. So much food, we really didn't think we would finish it all at first. But we got to the end and wanted more! A big special thank you to Olivia ( Mademoiselleinsydney ) from SD Marketing for extending the invitation to dine at Gyuzou. We truly appreciate good food and you have let us experience great food this night. We are already planning going back to try the Ramen and Hot Pot! It's situated in a nice little isolated location. The restaurant has taken over the premises of where Riviera used to be. Hopefully this will stick around longer than they did! As we arrived, this meat display was the second thing we saw (apart from the lovely feature wall above).  Touch screen ordering system. We were still ordering and our initial selection were arriving at our table in a matter of minutes! Talk about quick and efficient service!! Complimentary dipping sauces from left to right:  Yakiniku sauce, salt sauce and chilli sauce.  SAKE lemon lime and bitter cocktail. We didn't really taste the SAKE nor did it give the effect of alcohol. However it was still really nice. You know how we love our Lemon Lime Bitters! :) Sweet Lychee cocktail - Caution. Really REALLY sweet. Chuck Tail Flap and Short Rib Short Rib Christie found this slightly chewy but I on the other hand Matt thought it was the better of the two meats. We had a choice to have the meat marinated in either Soy Sauce or Salt. We opted for salt both times as we had a side dish of Soy sauce if needed. Chuck Tail Flap The description on the menu said melt in your mouth. It definitely lived up to the expectation. The meat was very tender and you could barely notice any fat throughout the meat. Once you bit into the meat, it tore apart immediately, meaning you weren't having to play tug of war with your food. Assorted Vegetables We had the cabbage with our meat, placed the mushroom, corn and onions on the bbq plate. Matt kept dipping the carrot in the cheese fondue. A great si

The beauty of eating out is about entertaining and being entertained without the hassle of cooking. Gyuzou has achieved this as its menu offers a seemingly endless selection of BBQ meats, sushi, sashimi, seafood and sides to satisfy any craving. We truly had a buffet on our night out. The highlight of the night was the assorted BBQ Wagyu. Differing from Korean styled BBQ meats, Japanese wagyu is not marinated and sliced thicker, ensuring that when cooked on the grill, the meats retained its tenderness.<br/>There is no shortage of meat options at Gyuzou as the place seems to offer every conceivable cut of the cow. Beginning from the highest marble score, we had the short rib, chuck tail flap, oyster blade, tri tip and rib finger. Really, all these cuts were beautifully tender and there was a general consensus among our tables that the meat just melted in your mouth. On top of these dishes, we had the ox tongue (a personal favourite), Wagyu Yukke (raw beef topped with egg yolk), pork sausage and Mountain Chain. The latter is a type of tripe but be forewarned – this was very chewy so only those with strong masticators should apply.

Now who doesn’t like a good BBQ? In every culture, there are different ways where meats are grilled over open fire, Japanese is no different. Here I am, back here, at Gyuzo Yakiniku. I love this place, they do a really good wagyu beef meats that is just perfect.

So this is one of those touch screeny places. At least this is an actual iPad and not one of those slower touch screen type thingys. I was once told off at a restaurant “Sorry mam, this is not an iPad, please calm down and slow down a little”. Got to take my aggression elsewhere I suppose, iPads, that’s what we need! Faster responds time! TAP TAP TAP!!! I like this place, it also provides you with a physical menu, which allows for 1 person to tap away at the iPad, while the other looks on at the manual menu.

Posted on Mar. 13 in Reviews with no comments Late last year, I received a Facebook message from my good friend Jenny , who resides in Manchester, UK. “BB, I am going to Bali on Thursday. Around Jan-Feb, I am thinking of MAYBE going to Sydney. If so, is it possible you could host me for a few nights” Well, she didn’t have to ask twice! Even though we ‘met’ each other online well over ten years ago, we’ve only been able to be in the same city together twice in those ten years – once when I went to the UK, and last year when we just happened to be in Hong Kong at the same time. We had a blast on the few days that she was in Sydney, with a day trip to the Blue Mountains and out for dinner for a few nights as well. I tried to look for restaurants that offered something a little bit special, that would be a bit harder to find in Manchester. One night we went to Sultan’s Table in Enmore, finishing with the world’s best gelato at Cow & The Moon for dessert. And one night, we went to Gyuzou in the city with our friend Tracey for Japanese yakiniku (with their special touchscreen ordering system), finishing at NQ Extreme Gelato for liquid nitrogen gelato. Black Sesame Latte and Green Tea Latte, $5.50 each We started with a cold latte each – Black Sesame Latte for me (strong and nutty, very creamy) and  Green Tea Latte  for Jenny. It’s quite a reasonable price for the tall drink – even though there was a lot of ice in the drink, the scoop of ice-cream on top makes it worthwhile. Spinach with sesame dressing, $5.50 Knowing that we would be ordering a lot of seafood and meat for the barbecue, we decided that we should try to maintain some semblance of a balanced diet by ordering a vegetable side. The Spinach with Sesame Dressing was liberally drenched in a tangy sesame sauce. While I love wilted spinach, I would have preferred a less generous serve of dressing as it detracted from the spinach itself. Wagyu and Seafood Platter, $38.50 This was the reason we came to Gyuzou though

Happiness real when shared. This is what I love in a good Japanese barbecue: it's all about sharing… Except that you won't want to share that wagyu. The menu reads "melt in your mouth", and the meat keeps its promise. For insane marbling and awesome yakiniku sauce, head to Gyuzou!
The Random Foodie
While the assorted wagyu platter doesn't include the highly rated and more expensive Short-Rib and the Chuck Tail wagyu beefs, I was still keen to try the platter in order to sample a variety of wagyu goodness. While each meaty delicacy was succulent, my faves would have to be Oyster Blade and the Tri-Tip for that rich, tender, melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness.
Insatiable Munchies
... it makes sense that Japanese yakiniku – aka Japanese barbecue – features little to no marinade or seasoning, to showcase the raw flavour of the beef. And at Gyuzou in Sydney, the cow is built right into the name, so I was over the moo-n to be invited to sample their menu!
Food Booze Shoes
Opened just last week, Gyuzou is the newest yakiniku  Japanese barbeque restaurant to hit town in that somewhat stranded area north of Chinatown but not quite CBD. Taking over the two-storey shop that was once an ice creamery, accessed from Harbour Street rather than Sussex Street, Gyuzou offers Japanese style barbeque or  yakiniku , which literally translates to "grilled meat". Yakiniku  Japanese barbeque and sauces at Gyuzou, Sussex Street, Haymarket While it looks most similar to what we probably know in Sydney as Korean barbeque, yakiniku differs in that the raw meat for cooking on the barbeque is not marinated. Instead, simply seasoned, it's cooked and then eaten with dipping sauces, of which Gyuzou offers three as standard: chilli, salt and a sweet soy yakiniku sauce. Gyuzou specialises in wagyu beef and even has an opening month special of half-price wagyu yakiniku dishes for the whole month of October 2014. Upstairs dining area The fitout is more refined Japanese than the usual cheap and cheerful Korean barbeque venues, with lots of dark wood offset by gorgeous Japanese fabrics. Part of the Yes Food group of Japanese restaurants (which also owns Wagaya  and many others), Gyuzo also uses the iPad ordering system made infamous at Wagaya many years ago. As such, it's pretty easy to go nuts on the menu, especially if you're ordering as a group as we were . Cinderella cocktail With a range of large range of 'cocktails' on the menu, we couldn't go past the sweet lychee liqueur based Cinderella with a literal base of blue curaçao and a prettily contrasting red grapefruit and mint garnishes. Lime chuhai The shochu -based highball with fresh lime was more my pick, with a refreshing sweetness that was ideal in front of the barbeque. Okonomiyaki It's always a good idea to order some starters that are ready-to-eat in these self barbeque

Delicious!. Booked a big table for a friend's birthday. Meat was marinated very well - juicy and tender. Reasonable prices! Would recommend!

Authentic Yakiniku. Went on a Friday night a bit after 6. Place was empty but filled up by 7. Gyuzou is an authentic and high quality Yakiniku restaurant, on par with and reminiscent of some of Tokyo's finest. Price was good for the quality. Asahi is poured ice cold in a frosted mug in true Japan style, and served quickly even while busy. Wagyu, sashimi and pork are all fresh and high quality. Menu contains more affordable alternatives alongside the prime cuts of Wagyu, and the touch screen makes it easy to keep track of your spending. Staff did not bring water without request, and extra sauces were a little over priced. Daikon ponzu contained very little daikon. Staff were friendly and didn't mind a chat. Overall, a very authentic and enjoyable experience.

I will be grateful if I am not ill tomorrow morning.. After reading the reviews and being recommended this restaurant from friends, I had to check it out. I love Japanese BBQ and the promise of half-price wagyu sounded too good to be true. And, unfortunately, it did turn out to be too good to be true. I will list my grievances for the night as followed:<br/><br/>We waited 1 hour and 20 minutes to get a table. (Yes, more than 1 hour. This is how much we wanted to try out this restaurant.) We ordered almost all the types of wagyu on offer. It came out quickly - this was the only good thing about the restaurant. However, when it came, it clearly did not look like wagyu nor did it look like the images on the menu. It seemed to be a very low quality cut of meat. There were also some pieces of meat which were chunks of fat that we could not eat. The sushi we ordered was of similarly poor quality. We ordered a salad which had an 'ontama' on top. I am aware of onsen eggs and I do not think this egg was cooked properly - the egg white was still translucent and apparently still raw. <br/><br/>I will not be returning and I do not see this restaurant being successful if they do not make some major improvements to the quality of meat and care in food preparation. The cost cutting is obvious.
