Caught up with from friends today and ordered the usual shepherd’s pocket. While this is a usual order for us, it wasn’t made as spicy this time around. Otherwise food is still delicious and service still reliable.
I had the pleasure of dropping in the other day to try out the Dumpling Master Range at the new shanghai.
The range of flavours featured in the top eight include:

I also had the soup dumplings which were amazing ! Great place, great staff, will be back :)
Good Shanghai restaurant in the CBD - compact interior with nice decor. Service is okay, waiters mostly speak Chinese. Place does great dumplings - pan fried & steamed. Stir fried beans were well done, a bit on the oily side

Some really great dumplings here, everything we ordered tasted really freely made (rare for dumplings), the Xiao long bao was a highlight (real soupy) as was the pan fried pork (perfect level of crispy-ness).
A surprising find in the basement of Westfield Sydney. Nice inviting atmosphere. The dumplings are excellent. Love the xiao long bao. The pot stickers are a go-to dish as well. Only bit lacking is the indifferent service. We had to remove some plates ourselves from the table as there was no wait staff around. Otherwise, recommended
Chinese food that is different than your usual dishes that represent Shanghai cuisine quite well. The dumplings here are must a try as they are famous and I completely understand why now :) Not to forget that the inside of the restaurant feels mystical

If you’re looking for good quality chinese food and also reasonably priced then this place is a must. The XLB’s were delicious and flavourful. The crispy chow mein lacked a bit of sauce, however was still decent. We also got the xo fried rice which was full of flavour and also got the twice cooked pork belly (not pictured) which was cooked perfectly and delicious. The portion sizes are also generous. Overall great food and service.
Being from Shanghai I am constantly on the lookout for authentic shanghainese food in sydney and new shanghai wins time and time again. Their food is delicious, well priced and the ambiance is lovely. We loved their xiao long baos, pan fried dumplings, braised pork belly, spicy wontons, rice and noodle dishes and drinks. What a perfect lunch!

New Shanghai is down under Westfield Sydney. Its a nicely decorated place that has instant appeal. There’s no mistaking it’s an Asian restaurant but that’s what you want here. Unsurprisingly, we started with cocktails. Sir being a rum fan had a lovely rum based cocktail - Green and Gold. This delicious cocktail was made with Tequila, white rum, Weis mango bar, mango, lime and coco Lopez. This was a very refreshing cocktail that had such great flavours. Sir thoroughly enjoyed it.
I've walked past here many times and always stopped because it smells so damn incredible. First time visiting though so I was pretty damn excited.
Staff were great and were happy to provide some great recommendations (the cocktails beint some of them). The XLB were delicious, a great amount of soup, and bursting with porky goodness. The Mongolian lamb was tender, smoky, and all around delicious.
100% would recommend these to anyone!
Went with a large group of friends and ordered a bunch of dishes and none disappointed! Highly recommend the slow braised pork belly, wheat gluten with black mushroom, shanghai noodles with spring onion, shepherd's purse rice cake stir fry and any of the dimsum.
We came here on the day before Chinese New Year. The price is pricey but the food taste delicious, i think it is worthy. My favourite one is the soft pork belly and squid with salted egg. Although the place wasn’t busy, unfortunately it is a little bit difficult to find the waitress if we need something, since they weren’t always around.
Finally back here again after 2yrs. Food is still great. Pot stickers still as juicy that it spurt, but skin is om the thicker side. Xlb is also tasty. Had XO fried rice was still ok i'll say its borderline. Dumplings was above average.

I like it here. Usually easy to secure a table. Surprisingly sophisticated wine list. Dishes can be a bit sweet because it's Shanghai style.
The food here is a little pricey but it is so worth it! Everything comes out tasting perfect and is worth every dollar. The service is also great and super efficient too. They have quite a lot of seats so can accomodate for larger groups (we stopped by for a work dinner). Can’t wait to dine here again!
Great place for Chinese food! Love the new system to order through the app, and the food was, overall, very good.
The xia long bao and pan fried dumplings were really good, but we especially liked the vegetarian spring rolls!
The claypot of braised eggplant was amazing!! So tasty! And the hot & sour soup wasn’t too bad either.
The noodles soup, however, was a bit of a disappointment. The broth was very bland and, despite the tasty condiments, the overall dish was too bland in my opinion.
This place is the best. Well priced, friendly efficient service and absolutely delicious food. Love the atmosphere, it’s a hidden gem in the basement of Westfield Sydney. I strongly encourage everyone to seek it out! The pan fried pork buns are the best ever!
