Xihuahua 🐶 only went there for a flatwhite. The service is friendly and quick. Popular with nearby office folks. Coffee is fantastic. Thick and slightly bitter like dark chocolate. Price is fair too. They have some nice looking salads I may try later.
Wanted to try somewhere different for my hot chocolate and this place is just around the corner from our city office so decided to give them a go.
Hot chocolate was better than the place inside Farrer Place.
Service wasn't too bad either so I think next time my friends and I will try the pasta for lunch and maybe even sneak in some dessert!
A lot better than I had expected! Had a friend's 20th bday for lunch here and it ticked all the boxes in terms of satisfaction. We didn't expect to be able to make a booking for 10 people (it doesn't permit it online unless for dinner), but calling them allowed us to make a booking for lunch.
The service from the staff was good, although they seemed frantic at times, they were very accommodating. We had sent our food orders to them in advance before arriving, and that ensured the food came seamlessly and on time without much wait time. I ordered the quattro formaggi (four cheese) pasta ($20) and that was incredibly delicious. No meats, but the subtle hints of sauce and cheese was really nice. The spaghetti bolognese ($20) and seafood risotto ($25) both had great feedback from my friends, although it was a little oily in both dishes, otherwise the flavouring was very good.
Overall, it was a surprisingly great dining place for a Thursday lunch time, and I would definitely recommend this place! :)
Great spot for nice Italian food and fast service. In the front section - the premise pastas and salads are great and is a popular spot for the city workers around the vicinity. If you want a fast lunch then this place is great for it.
We sat inside the restaurant, which has a slightly upscale vibe. I was tempted by the selection of pastas, as it is an Italian restaurant but decided a salad would be lighter. It was nice. Rocket, a bit of crisp bacon, and tiny bits of chicken schnitzel. Oh, and some apples. Seems like a solid choice for office workers in the area, with both the healthy salad option and the heavier pastas (or mains).
Bertoni is located on the corner of Bent and Phillip Sts. It is convenient for local office workers and the like. Service is jovial and friendly.
They have an informal cafe area as well as a sit down restaurant. They offer choices of pasta, salads, sandwiches, paninis, wraps, soups, and meats in the cafe area. As we wanted something quicker and informal we went to the cafe and ordered some pasta. Make your selection and pay at the counter and they'll give you a receipt and call out your number when your meal is ready.
I had a Mortadella + Porcini Mushroom Pasta. It had a nice flavour to it and was a creamy based sauce with large fusilli pasta.

Great Italian food and coffee. Perfect for a corporate lunch, catered event, or casual catch up with friends. Simeon in particular provides great service - quickly learns your name and coffee order.
Luxe lunchtime takeaway at affordable prices. Bertoni is only a couple of blocks from my workplace but for some reason I had never been there before today. So as usual, I was excited at the thought of trying somewhere new. True to its name, Bertoni specialises in pasta but it also does a variety of protein combinations (grilled salmon, roast port, steak etc) with salads. The salads all looked wonderful - 3 types of quinoa had me standing there deliberating which to choose - black, white or red. In the event I went for black quinoa salad with lasagne. It was a very good lasagne - wide strips of soft pasta, a creamy sauce that was not too rich, and moderate amounts of cheese. I enjoyed my black quinoa salad with rocket and tomato, although I would have preferred a higher ratio of vegies to quinoa. All in all, an excellent takeaway, with a restaurant to the side that would also be worth investigating at some point.
Ciambella Alla Nutella.. that's how they call it in Bertoni.. Fluffy soft and filled with Nutella, this fried donut is so airy light and it tastes every bit as melt in your mouth good as it looks! It's better to have it toasted (as per their recommendation, you can choose the un-toasted one if you want to) and you'll get the combination of crusty on the outside and warm melted Nutella on the inside.
Firstly, the takeaway lunches at Bertoni are amazing. In winter months, nothing beats a soup topped with delicious croutons from the Bertoni kitchen! And very reasonably priced!
I had no idea there was a restaurant behind the takeaway store until a few weeks ago. Food delicious, but a bit on the pricey side, but overall very moorish. Can't go wrong with stuffed zucchini flowers & the cured meats are sensational (they took me back to Italy!).. Was a bit disappointed in the main as I found my gnocchi to be particularly oily. Was also disappointed that of the entire wine list of red wines, there was only one red available - if you are paying a little extra, you do expect to be able to order a matching wine off the menu and not be forced to have the only option left (having said that, we were pleasantly surprised by this wine when it came out).
Overall, lovely staff, food & a great "hidden gem" for lunch.. Just bring your credit card!
