Tucked away inside the building at 189 Kent Street and a part of 189 Cafe is Mochi Donuts offering donuts that have a slight chewy texture like mochi, but also the airy dough texture of a donut. These are then served plain or else coated (generally on the top half) with an icing flavour. Special flavours can vary on the day, and you can choose your own combination multi packs that are cheaper per donut.
Compared to the smooth and chewy texture of a proper mochi I can't say this truly satisfied my mochi craving, but if you are thinking about this more from the donut angle then this is quite a special and unique offering.
Staff are friendly and nice to deal with and, in addition to picking up the donuts in-store, they also offer delivery.
Came across Mochi Donuts during the lockdown when I was searching for something sweet for my team. I placed my order online for in-store pick-up. The CBD store is hidden inside an office building near Miller Point, the staff were friendly and pick-up was seamless.
The Mochi Donuts are baked freshly daily and the flavours change on weekly basis. We enjoyed the original glazed and plain donuts the most, they were fluffy and slighly chewy unlike the traditional doughnuts. The glazed donuts are colourful and great for photos. Perfect for gifting as well as own consumption.
Amazing donuts and even better staff. Went to the extra mile to ensure we could get our order in a COVID safe way after being stuck in isolation. Highly recommend this great business and cannot thank the whole team enough!
Super yummy mochi donuts. It’s not super sweet so you wouldn’t get sick half way eating it and I totally love it. The flavours change daily I believe but my favourite is the plain donut.
Went to try this donuts from Newcastle . YUMMYYYYYY!!!! Delicious , my mouth watering when I’m only start thinking about this donuts . Its sad that they are only open during the week .
Love this donut, especially when it’s fresh because the texture was chewy yet so light and fluffy.
Had a chance to try their glazed donut and matcha donut.
Like both flavors, nit too sweet and price was reasonable $4 each or $22 for 6 pieces assorted.
These donuts are as authentic as you can get. I was in Japan January 2020 and had mochi donuts every 2nd day. I was hooked to say the least.
These donuts are the real deal. I love the flavours and once you eat one, you can’t stop.
Will definitely be a regular.
