I was craving for beef noodle soup so I ordered the spicy beef and tendon noodle soup. The beef and tendon were cooked nicely, the tendon almost melted in my mouth! But I thought soup was on the salty side. The salt & spicy chicken Maryland and pork mince noodles were average.
This place is very understaffed but I had to come give it a try. Ordered their brisket and tendon spicy noodle soup and beef tripe side dish. Service was very slow and the girl seemed very frazzled but I will forgive her as it was worth the wait.
The spicy soup was delicious. Super rich and delicious - it packed heaps of flavour. The noodles were also very nice. I really enjoyed this noodle dish, the meat was very soft and the tendons very soft and tender. The tripe could’ve had some work done though. Although they were cooked really well (were nice and soft) they lacked any rich flavour and got pretty sickening half way. Wouldn’t get this again.
Service on the other hand was pretty bad. I had to wait for a good 5-10minutes at the front of the line because the lady thought it was more important to plug in an online order first instead of serving me (and the many people behind me). She did apologise at the end but still was slightly annoying.
Service aside, i would highly recommend trying their beef noodle soup here. Well worth it. They also give you free sides (chilli butter, pickled veggies, chilli powder) which is a nice complement to the dish.
What caught my attention is the slow cooked beef and tendon with tomato. The meat and tendon is super soft and packed with flavour. Must have been either slow cooked for hours or they have used a pressure cooker to speed things up.
The servings in standard bowls can be quite small but you have to remember this is slow cooked food. There is an option to add beef or tendon as a side dish. If you are a big eater this would be recommended.
Makes a pleasant change to Japanese ramen which is pork based. It wouldn’t surprise me if these 2 dishes are somehow related.
Slowly eating my way through the newish Market City food court In Haymarket. I had the stewed beef noodles in supreme soup and it was delicious! Great source of iron! The only drawback is the long wait for the food as they are so busy!

The move downstairs for Market City's new food court has introduced some new stalls. Lao Dong Beef Noodles is one of the new tenants, a Taiwanese chain with a few interesting variations on just beef and noodles. Lao Dong Beef Noodles first opened in Taiwan in 1950. It might have taken 67 years to finally open up in Sydney, but it's been a happy wait. They've got far more trophies than the NSW State of Origin side in recent years, and proudly display their wins on the counter.
Taiwanese style noodle.
Wow, I'm surprise how nice that noodle was
It's a good amount of pork Minced that accompanied the dried noodle, portion just right for a hungry person and came with house of your drink, and today I choose ice winter melon tea.
$5 it's a good bargain, fellas!
Braised beef, beef tendon, wonton, and noodles, my lunch was great. Market City food court looking good but busy and crowded all the time. Rice with stewed pork tasted great too
Had lunch there, beefy noodle soup, hearty, generous portion, love their fried chicken. that chopstick package is not what you expect from food court
true Taiwan taste, rice with pork was so good, great to grab a quick bite. Their menu is very flexible, rice dishes can swap or change toppings, as well as noodles, there are rice noodle options too. many people go for the braised beef and tendon. Food court vibe was great, just as all other great food courts around Chinatown.
Authentic Taiwanese beef noodles. It's a well established brand in Taiwan and had won a few awards (shopfront displayed some trophies). It's everything you can get and expect from Taiwan beef noodles. It seems like a proud tradition for them, from my last visit, there are hundreds if not more beef noodle joints along everywhere.
Beef was tender and well seasoned, noodle could have been less cooked, soup was nice but then you got thirsty after having it. Also love the fried chicken, crispy and succulent chicken, so yum.
Market City just finished renovation of level one food court, it's nice and cozy, and it was packed during lunch hour.
