I’ve been here couple of times since first discovered this place a month ago.
- Chicken rice (with roast chicken) is very good, the chicken is crispy and full of flavour, the rice is fragrance.
- Har Mee (prawn noodle) the taste is proper, but it is more spicy than other restaurants in Syd. if you like spicy you’ll like it
- Char Mee it’s got the “wok hei” taste GOODD
- Hokkien Noodle, this does not have the original hokkien noodle taste, it taste different but still good

*** i don’t have all the above food photos as i got too excited when the food came and forgot to take photos

It's the noodles that are the pick of Penang Hawker, Malaysian Chinese in Campsie. The char and smoke of the famous food town comes through most vividly in their fried kuey teow, chuck in a duck egg for extra googie goodness. Penang Hawker has been dishing out Malaysian Chinese for a while now. The shop has undergone a couple of changes, with a hot food bar installed at the front so you can takeaway pre-prepared meals. It's a cramped space where long tables are shared between unrelated diners, causing pangs of food envy when you see what other people have ordered. Just makes you want to reach across and try a little bit. It can get busy and buzzy, something that always adds to the pleasure of dining.

Penang Hawker has become my family's favourite and local Malaysian food joint! I've been here multiple times and can confirm that the food is consistently fresh, flavourful and delicious. Never too oily, never too salty, never too bland. Some favourites that I recommend are the sweet sauce chee cheong fun, hainanese chicken rice, fried koay teow, and beef rendang. The prices are extremely affordable and the service is very welcoming and friendly!

The char kway teow is amazing! The flavour is spot on. Lots of clams (normally it’s blood cockles but those are hard to find in Australia), Chinese sausage and pork fat. Super fragrant and tasty. Only comment is the rice noodles used should be thin and not the broad kind.

Went for lunch with friends. Ordered penang prawn noodles, clay pot rice drops, combination hor fun and stir fry hokkien noodles. All of them in our opinions are better than Albee’s kitchen. Portion wise was really huge!!! We couldn’t finish it and have to pack the leftover home. Especially love the stir fry hokkien noodles and the combination hor fun. You can really taste the “wok” smell to it which is what makes them great! Will definitely come back!

Penang Hawker is fantastic and seriously underrated compared to Albee’s Kitchen, two doors down. I have been to Penang Hawker on two occasions now and have been impressed by their service, the efficiency of the delivery of the dishes, and the quality and value of the food.

The dishes are absolutely huge with large plates of noodles and large bowls of soup for $11-14. And they’re not overly greasy which was my main complaint about Albee’s. So far, I’ve tried the following – and will definitely add to and update this list as I return to try more:

Chicken curry laksa ($11.80) – so yum, with deep deep flavours. I think what I like about this dish is the balance – it’s not too salty, not too curry, not too spicy (though you can always add more sambal to it!). Beneath the surface lies a tonne of noodles – both vermicelli and egg noodles. I really did feel like I was fighting a losing battle as I worked my way through the noodles yet more and more noodles slowly emerged from the soup! There is also a generous serving of chicken and fish cakes pieces. Overall, it is a hearty meal that hits the spot if you are craving laksa in the Campsie area.

Finally we got the chance to enjoy the true penang delicacies without having to travel to the east. Ordered their Penang Char Kway Teau., Har Mee and Ching Chong Fun as well as their teh Tarik. The highlight is the CKT. With evident duck egg, Pork Lard and the Chinese sausage complimenting the dish greatly. Other dishes are okay but nothing to write home about.

Came in on recommendation of Malaysian passerby. Had Beef Rendang and Char Kway Teo ... both delicious but Rendang was the stand out. Quick service and will definitely be back. Thanks to the anonymous stranger for the recommendation

Look no further for authentic Malaysian dishes. The salted fish pork belly dish is one the few ones I have tasted that actually puts salted fish in the dish, giving the dish the extra dimension where it derives its name, a must try I would say! The hot plate egg tofu is one the best I've tasted in Sydney, you can taste the egg and the egg tofu distinctively, yet the pork gravy binds it together so well, perfect for a little drama before you dig in too! Who says dramatic is only meant for hatted and Michelin-stared dishes? I will definitely be back to try other dishes, then I'll decide if I will give it the 5th star!

Absolutely blown away by this food at Penang Hawker! Been meaning to try for a long time instead of Viet or Chinese cuisines. Nice and comfortable inside and the Waitress was very helpful and friendly us being not Malay. Of course we over ordered as per usual lol but we started with a fantastic nasi Goreng, a first for me outside of Bali and it was very tasty with a nice spice hit! Wrapped in omelette. Next sticky pork ribs with Marmite which was so savoury but superb and totally filling. We also got the crispiest chicken with crispy pork and it was the bomb, served with rice and broth and two delicious sambal. The dry fried beans with pork was good but too oily for me and the Chinese version is also too oily when I've had it at other restaurants. Also got two curry with roti. The chicken curry was devine and the roti nice and buttery. The rendang was good too but again a bit oily for me but I realised when I put it in container the curry sauce was under the oil lol and it was good but the chicken less oily and more flavour. Overall it was fantastic and we will be back again. Thanks for the great service too! Cash only!

The meals are generous portions and definitely has the wok hey smell and taste. Assam laksa is very authentic and plenty of fish. Been here a few times. I actually think the meals are better than Albie

Ordered Ubereats twice now from this place. Food arrived within a good time and loved the laksa both times, it had a great depth of flavour & I can be pretty picky about my laksas! The chicken curry is also full of flavour & the belacan kangkung was good as well. Definitely a great place to get Malaysian. I haven’t eaten in so I can’t really say how the service is face to face & or comment on what the place looks like.

This is the most authentic Little Malaysian Restaurant that we've come across in Campsie!, The food is extremely tasty. So tasty that I went again with a big family crowd three days later. It hasn't bells and whistles, it's nice enough. Staff are very attentive, and helpful some more than others. Food comes out hot and fast, and generous serves. They serve you hot tea in melamine cups but should seriously think better and serve it in ceramic or glass cups. The menu Stand outs: B4. Beef Rendang, H2. Penang Fried Koay Teow with Duck egg, ( I could eat this all by myself, it's a meal on its own) E1. Sambal Fried Rice, B5. Balacan Kangkung(Water Spinach), G3. Malaysian Curry Laksa, . The Chicken curry with the roti was very good as well. We'll be back to try other menu items
