Reviews Prig Thai Restaurant

Prig Thai, now in Victoria Street, had an offer in the Thursday paper for $8.50 lunches, so we decided to pop down. The lady was pleasant and prepared our meal in no more than five minutes. The portions were a decent size and very tasty. The venue itself was very basic but also very clean. Being on a day that topped 39°, it could have been cooler in the restaurant, with just one pedestal fan. While you can eat in, I think it would be the ideal place for quality take-away.

Myself and two friends needed a bite to eat after stupidly skipping lunch on a road trip. All I can say is it was so lovely. For street value it's not very flash looking, but the lady cooked up a mean green curry, pad see ew, and satay rice and chicken. Amazing taste, very affordably priced, and she cooked it from scratch and had it hot and fresh in front of us within ten minutes. If you're stopping through Taree I highly recommend dining here.

Fantastic! Fabulous fresh thai food, not too greasy, as spicy or mild as you like. Fresh chilli, fresh garlic, (not dehydrated or powdered like many of the other Asian restaurants in Taree!). Very reasonably priced, fast, friendly. I loved this place and went back twice in the 36 hours i was in town. Absolutely recommended.

I stopped in Taree for the night purely because I was tired.. I googled the local restaurants and none of them looked particularly inviting.. And most of them had a few negative reviews.. I settled on Prig Thai because it was the closest.. I only ordered one dish because I am the fussiest eater on the planet.. I ordered the Green Curry with Chicken.. I told her that I didn't want all of the veggies, only green beans.. The woman cooking the food was a machine.. She had one wok on the burner, various pots and pans on the stove, spring rolls in the fryer and sauces in slow cookers.. She had about six separate orders of various sizes on the go at the same time and I thought that this was going to be a disaster and I was starting to think about what I was going to order from the KFC across the road.. I could not have been more wrong.. My green curry was one of the freshest, tastiest I have ever had.. I could taste all of the flavours of a great curry paste and the coconut milk was not overpowering as it sometimes is.. She made it exactly the right heat also.. My curry and a steamed rice only cost me $16.50.. The place was dingy looking and her menu was simple and basically had curry and noodles cooked to basic Thai recipes.. Perhaps some of the "modern" Thai places could take a leaf from this woman's book and go back to basics.. Every other meal I watched her cook seemed to be just as fresh and tasty looking.. I would definitely recommend this place..
