Review Tea Gardens Boatshed - Tea Gardens

Great spot right in the water with Myall River outlook. The prawn dumplings were delicious as a starter and we both had their fish & chips. Wonderful, thin batter & definitely clean oil - other meals around us also looked great. Nice day out from Port Stephens & even had the luck to see a couple of dolphins. Beautiful setting, lovely service & very nice food, definitely worth the trip.

Enjoyed a lovely Mother’s Day brunch at the Boatshed. The view is beautiful and we saw dolphins from our table. Service was just okay. Whenever we needed something we had to flag someone down because after being seated, no one came to check on us. Since we were celebrating, I ordered my “fancy” drink—dirty chai tea—but I think I would have been happier with a flat white. However, my soba noodles were incredible! Delicious, fresh flavors. Highly recommend this dish.

Great place for a delicious lunch with a lovely view over the water. The staff were lovely and friendly and they have gluten free options

We went as a group of 10 for lunch on a Saturday. They had plenty of vacant seating on the deck and out the front and we didn't have to book. There was table service inside and on the deck. Everything was good on the steak sandwich except that they used 'plastic' cheese. There was too much avo in a big chunk on the crab burger for one of us, but the chutney was really good and our teen son enjoyed his. There was not much papaya in the mango prawn papaya salad, but it was nice. The calamari tacos were 'so good' the 12 year old said, and it was very nicely presented. The turmeric latte was served with a pot and strainer and made on coconut milk. It was mild flavoured and you could really taste the coconut milk. The pork belly bao was lovely. The kimchi gave it a bit of heat. The 6 and 8 year old said they enjoyed the salad which came with the fish and chips as well. Eat in menu not available out the front - seperate takeaway menu which was not available or visible out the front. We were asked to wear a mask when not at the table inside on the alfresco deck. There was some art for sale on the deck wall and I liked that they used paper straws to be environmentally conscious.

Middle of the road eats with subpar service. Coffee was excellent while the pancakes left me disappointed. If you’re looking for a nice view with limited expectations on quality of food and service this is your spot.

Lovely place next to a river. The atmosphere is so peaceful and the staff are really friendly. Menu for breakfast had a great selection.

Waterfront restaurant on the Myall River. Good service, extensive drinks menu & boutique food menu primarily seafood. Decor very rustic like a boatshed! Beautiful food!

It was my first visit here, I was really disappointed , let’s start with dinner, my wife received the wrong fish dish, asked for the market fish, blue eye cod and got salmon. Wrong wine and waitress kept forgetting to clear our table. Steak was perfect , cooked spot on . So we rebooked for breaky, thought we would give them another try, now this is why it’s 2 star, my wife and I both got the bacon and egg roll and I look at the bottom of the bun and there’s mould on my roll and my wife’s. Now before anyone thinks I’m full of it, I’ve been a chef for 18 years so yes I know mould when I see it. No I didn’t complain as this is the best way to get my point across to warn others.

We took a short detour off the Pacific Highway on our drive from South West Rocks back to Sydney. We were looking for a place to have a quick lunch (we were on a tight tine schedule to get the hire car back!). We were lucky enough to find this gem of a place. Exceptionally friendly staff & superb food in great surroundings. The Thai fishcakes were delicious. Highly recommended.

You obviously pay for the view, we had oysters ,I must say they were pretty good, but for the price they would want to be Fish and Chips for main at $22 was very dissatisfying, I asked myself if I ordered fish flavoured BATTER ,(very undercooked) and not to mention the French fries ? How do you undercook French Fries ? And to top it all off ,had to watch Kitchen staff eating (snacking) whilst they were preparing our food. Don’t think we will be returning anytime soon

We went there for our anniversary . The food wAs lovely the service was reasonable . We enjoyed what we ordered a little on the pricey side but it was a special occasion so we didn't mind . Asked for dessert menu and it took quite a while to come we had to ask twice. Didn't end up getting dessert as nothing really appealed to us on the dessert menu but that's our taste buds . All in all we had a good night .

We arrived at lunchtime on Fathers Day without a reservation. Although booked out, the lovely waitress offered a place on the open bar area which we accepted. The two/three course set menu had something for every palette and it was hard to choose! The service was fantastic, the food equally so and we will definitely be returning!

Had the degustation meal. The ceviche and salmon were notably outstanding!! It was a lovely evening, albeit a bit long but we would have no hesitation to return. Noted however that it was the chef's last week....

Full marks for service. Seriously the best steak sandwich I’ve ever had. Also the best espresso coffee I’ve had in the entire region. Excellent food and not too expensive either.

- Cute little restaurant on the water
- Friendly waitresses
- We opted for the three course meal deal
- Had the specials for our main course and they were both scrumptious.
- Dessert was a bit too rich with a lot of sweet elements. It needed something more than the sour cherries on the side, to cut through it all.

Great service. Coffee was amazing! Had a table of 12, food came out at the same time. Pouched eggs were perfect! You need to make sure you book on Sunday as really busy

Ironically, the best steak I have ever had. Sassy, knowledgeable and friendly staff, reasonably priced wine, great view. We went as a large group and everyone was happy with their food which was all fresh, very well presented and prepared with care. Do it.

Tasting plate surprise. We have been holidaying up here for 20 years and have dined at the Boatshed since it opened many years ago. It has been our favourite breakfast place and never disappoints!! Dinner and lunch the same. But this time we decided to try the dinner 4 course Tasting Plate special. What a taste sensation in every course!! The 64 deg egg a masterpiece!
Service as usual by lovely friendly staff. This is well worth the visit.

Amazing food. We spent the week in Tea Gardens over the Christmas holiday and ate breakfast at The Boatshed on three separate mornings. We were also there about one year ago. The great thing about this cafe/ restaurant apart from the location (right on the water) is that the food is very high quality and ALWAYS consistent. The chef(s) cares about what goes out on the plate. You can see it and taste it every time. I know because I used to work in a kitchen as a breakfast cook. In fact, the breakfast is far better than anything I can get locally in Bondi at any of the cafes there.

The big breakfast is divine as is the home made chili jam they have on the side of other breakfast dishes. Coffee is very good too although it was a little bit too hot and slightly watery the first day we were there. It was Boxing Day, however, and I think the regular barista was not there. The following two mornings and the coffee was great. The scones are to die for as well. All baked on the premises and with wonderful flavour. We have yet to try the lunch or dinner menu but I am certain it is brilliant.

Hard to believe there aren't a pile of reviews for this cafe here. In short, it's worth driving out of your way for. If it means a diversion off the Pacific Highway just do it.

The adult's menu was mouth watering with all of adults in the group declaring it was the best breakfast they had in a wee while - especially the Grandpa bull who ordered bacon and eggs and much to the old farmer's delight, he was served 3 large fried googly eggs!
