A superb hidden gem tucked away in a classical surrounding of a terrace house in Terrigal is the Terrace Grill Restaurant and Bar. We stumbled across this unassuming food lover's locale which seemed reserved for the Terrigal elite but the doors are Your host Antonio Romeo is the consummate and talented chef of international standing. We took a while to decide whether to choose the Locals menu, Tasting menu of 5 courses, Banquet Dinner of three courses or the Italian Banquet Dinner, all at very reasonable prices. I decided to go straight into the classic menu. I chose Tony's veal tortellini with the sub-selection of his tomato sauce, the grilled Misto di Mare as a main. I had Tony's house salad and had the pleasure of trying a great highlight of the night- his Garlic mushrooms- they were absolute magic. My wife chose the Locals Menu with the Taste of the Sea and had the Chicken Vino Bianco. The mains were complimented by a great SA Benchmark Cabernet Shiraz wine which was a pleasant surprise and a nice pick by the waitress. When we got stuck into the main course we realised that this was a top quality eatery, and we paid compliments to the chef Antonio who joined us and offered his complimentary home made Limoncello liqueur where we shared a brindisi with Tony, myself and my wife. Tony puts his heart and soul into his cooking and rich deserts. I finished with the mouth watering and delicate chocolate soufflé surrounded by delectable wild berries which is made to order and worth the short wait, and my wife had Baileys ice cream dessert which was to die for, complimented by a nice macchiato and sparkling mineral water. While I was listening to the beautiful gentle ambience of the relaxing contemporary music selected by Tony we relaxed in an atmosphere that was a great oasis from the popular hustle and bustle of Terrigal Beach. Terrace Grill is a must for the real food and dessert connoisseur or anyone that just wants good service by his friendly and professional waitress and impeccably presented food that is very much appreciated in vision and in taste. Tony is an artist in the true sense of the word with his outstanding artisan skills as a chef of high class with an Italian twist while maintaining a high standard of quality of a 5 star restaurant of an international standard at affordable prices. Great food. Great service. Had the famous 3 tier seafood platter with Liz for lunch. Easy on the fried stuff and plenty of fresh and grilled seafood with lobster. Recommend for sure.
