One of my favorite food places in Melbourne's north.
great ambiance, interesting Arabic cinema theme inside, fresh and vibrant flavors that combine both middle eastern warmth and western fusion.
do make it a point to also try the desserts besides the yummy pizzas
Did some research on Broadsheet before making a booking for eight last weekend and was not disappointed! Helpful service deciphering the menu for the uncultured of us, and the food was top notch - The three cheese pide and turkish delight were pure joy. Super warm interior was also nice escape from the cold!
Amazing food!! The pumpkin pide is to die for! Yum.
Love it best food and beer!
Brilliant place food from heaven definitely one of my favourite places to eat.
Fantastic food will be back the koftas were amazing.
The owner was as hot as the pizzas.
Spectacular food, great service, beautiful wine, and all round fantastic night!
Out of this world.
Epic service and food .
Great vibe, love it!
Amazing food amazing staff amazing atmosphere! Will definitely be back!!
Delish delish delish! Loved it and will be back! Thanks for a great dinner.
Hands down best pizzas in Melbourne. Can’t wait to come back a thousand more times.
Amazing food, great service. What more to ask for.
WOW - did not know pizza could taste so good. It is easy to see the link to Rumi
Spectacular eats! Excellently priced, middle eastern yumness!
Straight up Melbourne's best pizzas. Eat the pizzas.
So middle eastern pide pizza is a thing, and it’s amazing.
Moor’s Head offers rustic soul food with a contemporary edge in a warm, communal space. This unique Thornbury eatery has been going strong for nearly a decade.
I took a night off my gluten free regime to indulge in their perfectly crafted parcels of deliciousness and don’t regret it one bit. No heavy, greasy pides here, think vibrant, rustic soul food with a refined edge. There are plenty of plant based options, a great wine list and my favourite: a bottle of fragrant hot sauce waiting on every table.
The staff will make you feel right at home with a service that is relaxed but attentive, offering helpful recommendations on a menu that features a blend of familiar and exotic ingredients.
A modest $34 will get you a banquet of cold mezze, a pizza and crisp salad, followed by Turkish coffee or peppermint tea served with sugar dusted Turkish delight. YOLO.
Thank you Moors, not to be confused with Moops 😉
Absolutely amazing pizza with exception taste 👌🏽 you can really tell there was all love into these pizzas from the quality ingredients right down to the base. The spiced smoked beef oh my God!! Will be back again!
Nice place for small groups or a couple, I enjoyed the bosphorus pide. The pizzas and pides are a nice change from the italian style other pizza places serve.
Really nice middle eastern style pizzas
My friend made the comment that they’re aren’t enough toppings
But as a whole, I don’t think he’s correct
What’s on it is the correct amount and the flavours are great
Would recommend the prawn one
3.5. Ordered a takeaway Erkin Koray pide which was very tasty. The lamb kofta skewer had a great sauce although the lamb itself was a little bland. Conversely, the garlic prawn skewer was well-marinated and juicy. Although I personally preferred the Golden Terrace's spiced beef as a topping and wouldn't have minded a bit more of the tomato base, this was still a very good 'pizza'.
Unconventional pizzas? 🍕 Yes please. Moors head pizza has plenty of Lebanese pizzas that tickles the taste buds. We got a pizza and a pide to share. The hummus on the Emir Bashir was a nice touch. Highlights: the bread base - yum! Lowlights: something about the ambience that is a little off.
P.S. our first time eating in Thornbury, what a cool burb.
Delicious and fresh food in a fun environment. Best for groups so you can sample lots of menu items and combine them. Absolutely love the pides
A twist to the traditional middle eastern pizza! Hidden of High st Thornbury is a great place to go when you want something a bit fancier than the normal lebanese pizza.
They have the Manoushe and the Pide. Both with a similar crust but a different base. We ordered Fred the Deaf (Manoushe), Erkin Koray , The Bosphorus and the Golden Terrace. The highlight of the night was the Bosphorus the garlic prawns were fresh and the black chili was fragrant.
Atmosphere: Nothing special but nice
Food: Delicious!
Price: Reasonable $20+ a pizza
Location: A bit far for city siders but great for the north side.
I have been wondering what the fuss is about this place. Now I kinda of get it. Great tasting pide. It is fresh and the toppings are different from the usual standard fare. We had the bosphorus with the chilli oil as recommended by many reviewers. Amazing. If you are after a good night out with a tasty meal at a reasonable price, this place would make it to the list.

In a cozy dim setting off of the hustle and bustle of high streets night life you will find a little gem "The Moors Head".
With a straight forward menu to offer it is refreshing to make a selection in what usually takes twice the time to read. Do not let that underestimate your choices as their modern take on traditional food was exemplary.
The Mezze was quiet small however the lamb ordered was full of flavour but the garlic prawns where a bit small and tasted like your large chain frozen seafood thawed.
When the Manouse and Pide came out. Wow. Grate aromas and even better flavours. We added smoked beef to the Pide and it, to us, felt like it bran the dish out a bit more though it was already packing heaps with well cooked eggplant and Feta and a Napoletean base sauce the thrive for.
To finish with dessert was to finish with what they do well, "another Pide" with warm ricotta, honey and wallnuts, which when combined in your mouth was a delight.
Will be revisiting for sure.
We ordered the Ibn Battuta pizza and The Bosphorus pide. We enjoyed both. Good flavor with both. Never had potato on a pizza before, it worked.
Tried the Bosphorus pizza and it was amazing. Garlic marinated prawns, chilli and coriander. I wanted a second pizza one was not enough. Full of flavour.
Finally made it here and very much enjoyed it.
It very much is a cosmopolitan modern twist on Arabic manakeish pastries. As an Arab i attest to both the traditional roots and flavours.
I agree with the unauthentic excellence reviews others have provided. A plus 👍🏻
The home made pickles and olives are excellent and I’d recommend the chicken wings. The prawn and Omar Sherrif were our favourites. And it’s worth having the deserts.
Service was warm, friendly and very patient with two glass spills. Atmosphere and decor is perfect for the concept. We will go back.
Inauthentic pizza in a good way
They have two different types:
1. Manoushe - most popular : fred the deaf (chicken mince, garlic, rouquette, green olives, tahini yougurt, sumac) -- too salty for me, i wonder if we can ask for less salt? But nonetheless the combination of flavours is fantastic
2. Pide - most popular : the bosphorus (tomato, garlic prawn, black chilli, coriander) -- my favourite, but is not spicy at all. They use some kind of panini kinda bread and it looks amazing.
Oh don’t forget to ask for the chilli oil!
Place is very comfortable and always busy.
Will come back to try the others pide menu
Do your self a favour and check his place out.
Interior is basic however the food and service is spot on. Would have to be the best middle eastern pizza I have ever had.
From the time we walked in the door the staff were friendly and very attentive.
A must try.
Food was absolutely perfect. Quality of food and the choices of ingredients work perfectly well together. The entrees were amazing on their own too.
Oh yes, pizza with a difference and a edge. Beautiful turkish flavours on each of pizzas create a stunning party in my mouth. Spiced lamb mince pizza was as heroic as a bosphorous crossing. Get in there now!
Wow What a middle eastern pizza, can honestly say the pizza here was amazing. The prawn pose was the best I’ve ever had, so fresh and zesty. Can’t wait to go back.
I tried their Special PIDE and it was delicious 😋 I had a great night with my friends and we enjoyed our food. They have friendly staffs and nice atmosphere.
I don't think I can fault this place. Moors Head do Middle Eastern pizzas and they do them well. I had the 'Golden Terrace' pide, an absolute taste sensation. Will return.
Came here for the first time last night as suggested by my friend. The pizzas are just delicious and tasty. The special was my favourite, although everything we ordered was awesome. I recommend this restaurant for the pizza lovers.
What a gem in the north! This institution is a legend for a reason. Delicious lamb kofta skewers and unique pides are a pleasant change to the usual round pizzas. The Istanbuli was perfectly spiced and the Omar Sharif was a cheese lover's dream. Nice atmosphere with the private booths and Egyptian magazine prints along the walls. Small note: a friend found a fly in her mojito and it was replaced with a fresh one without any dramas. Will come again!
Have been meaning to try a pizza here for years- I should've come sooner! Enjoyed the prawn pide (recommend) and a lamb pide with feta (was tasty but not as good as the prawn). Refreshing rocket salad to compliment. I'll be back to try a few more pizzas, dips and kofta. Reasonably priced- happy days
Unique but middle eastern style pizza really works! Great service. Food was excellent and toppings on the pizzas ordered were just the right amount. Cozy space and would recommend this place for the pizza lovers.
Tonight's dip was the Baba, family recipe. It was fresh and clearly made by a person that knows and loves what they do. This applied to everything we ate. The staff are attentive and friendly, the pide and manoushe bases were crispy by fluffy on the inside and toppings were arranged beautifully. On top of it all, it was a great way to introduce my brother and his partner to Middle Eastern food. Great experience all round.
Came here because of the entertainment voucher. Absolutely loved the morrocon chicken ribs and the prawn pide(don't recall the name). Amazing customer service and decor. Will be a regular here.
Came here for the first time a few weeks ago, and will definitely be back again and again. Truly great food with a fun, chilled out vibe. A great place to eat in Thornbury!
I told my hubby to pick a restaurant, so he brought me here after reading all of the positive comments.
I'm so glad he did :)
The Babaganush Dip (smokey eggplant) was delicious, not overly smokey (like most of the ones i've had) and served with fresh Lebanese pita! Yumm! Best I've had by far!
The pizza's were bursting with middle eastern flavour.
Rocket salad with raisins was soo nice! Who knew raisins would taste so good in salad!
Then to top it off I had the most amazing piece of Turkish Delight I have ever tried in my life and I'm Turkish, so that's saying something! It was so fresh and the rose flavour was perfect :)
Will be coming here again very soon!! Highly recommended
I LOVE the food here. The middle eastern style pizzas are tasty and perfectly cooked and just damn well delicious. The prawn was my favourite but to be honest everything we ordered was great. With a simple salad and a few drinks it's the perfect meal 👍🏻
It was a hit and miss. Some of the pizza's were really good and I liked how they were a twist on normal pizzas. Some of the pizza's had unusual flavour combinations that we didn't really like. For dessert we had Persian fairy floss (photo below). It was very unusual, it was quite different to normal fairy floss it tasted like a familiar flavour that I knew and I didn't enjoy. It looked like hair and it melted away in your mouth. I have previously had take away from moors head and I ordered different pizzas and they were amazing. It is probably just because I chose different flavours that didn't suit my palette
One of the best pizza (pide) joints I've been to. Ordered the Golden Terrace, labne with evoo and the cabbage salad. O.M.G. The flavours of these dishes compliment each other to the tee. The hints of spice in the pide were beautifully present, and the sprinkling of toasted almonds completed the experience.
Highly recommend going if you're seeking a change from the stock standard pizza. And fancy a wonderful taste sensation that leaves you wanting more.
Would bang over and over
I ordered Ibn Batutah and I liked it. I could taste the middle eastern flavour. The pizza bread was funny. We arrived 30 minutes before kitchen closing time and staff didn't look happy seeing us. They were quite polite and friendly though, maybe just tired. I think I'll go there again!
Amazing flavor pizza! It was a really different type of pizza with the shape and ingredients! Service was really good as well. Cute and cozy looking restaurant!
Middle Eastern and pizza? Doesn't usually go hand in hand but damn did @themoorshead surprise us. The Bosphorus pizza which was layered with an aromatic tomato, corriander & black chilli base sprinkled with succulent prawns was a absolutely delicious especially with a lovely crispy base. The roquette, shanklish and Iranian raisins salad was a perfectly fresh compliment especially with the suprisingly sweet raisin bits! Middle East and European fusion? Yes please!! Moorish and hungry? @themoorshead is the place to go.
Stumble upon this place on Zomato and decided to see what all the fuss is about. This place is really good. The pizza are really tasty and the atmosphere was really nice. Definatly would recommend.
The food here is unbelievably good, I could have easily eaten a whole one and more on my own. We shared a meat pizza and a veggie pizza. 'The Golden Terrace' was amazing with the fresh tomato, almonds and parsley on top of Beef mince but the standout was the 'Saladin' with its caramelised onion, cumin, walnuts , roquette and drizzled with a creamy and tangy orange sauce. I love this place and conveniently located across the road from the Thornbury Theatre.
Came last night with some friends. The reviews for this place was the reason we came and glad we did. We all got the inauthentic feast so we can try 4 different pizzas and what a great decision it was. The salad we got with the table was the raisin and feta inspired one which was divine (even though I don't like raisins). The dip with the Turkish bread was an acquired taste but seriously exudes perfection in my opinion.
The best pizza of the night was the prawn and black chilli one. That sauce on it was magnificent. Also with the salad we had pickled vegetables which were great.
Post to having the pizzas we had some mint tea which I found a fabulous way to the end the night with fresh Turkish delight.
I will be coming back 😋
The golden terrace pizza is amazing, SO much flavour! The deserts are a tiny bit of a let down, but everything else on the menu is spot on!!
Went here on a Monday night, was busy and had a good buzz. The waiters were attentive and happy to explain the food. We had some of the starters which were really nice, particularly liked the chicken ribs. We shared 2 of the pizzas between the 3 of us - one round one and a pide- both were delicious. Will definitely be back :)
I really enjoyed the food, the beer and the atmosphere. It does get a bit busy/cramped but it's worth it. Unique flavours and a great dining experience. Would definitely recommend.
So yeah there were six of us and we ordered almost one of every pizza they had on the menu. Because variety. Billed as 'inauthentic pizza' the menu is actually comprised of either round Lebanese pizzas or Middle Eastern pides which are covered with far more exotic ingredients then you'll ever hope to find on an Italian margherita. Turns out beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. My favourites were the Istambuli which was a sweet pumpkin option perfect for vegetarians and the Omar Sharif a scrummy rendition of a three cheese. For all the prawn lovers out there The Bosporus was the standout.
As it says in their menu the pizzas are very inauthentic but that doesn't mean that they aren't awesome! They serve one of the best pizzas in melbourne. Well not the Italian type, but even If you expect that, it all changes once you eat it. The Bosphorus is a prawn pizza that just hits all the right spots, the desserts are amazing. The Moroccan chicken wings are out of this world. The first time I went I had a foodgasm. It was so good that The Bosphorus and the Moroccan chicken wings appeared in my dreams and I had to go again and I wasn't disappointed.
The decor is nice with old Persian move posters in the walls. The staff know the menu very well and are helpful. And it has an amazing street dining setup as it is just a few metres off the high street in thornbury. So all the fun of high street dining without the drunk crowds on weekend nights. The place is a hit and it gets pretty crowded on weekends. So book your table do avoid disappointment.
The place we intended on going was closed so we stumbled into here to try it out! We were very impressed and will return on purpose next time, with friends :)
The pizza special was delicious. Cheesey, garlicy with cauliflower, saltanas, etc... Gosh. It was awesome and the base was perfect. Sad it isn't a regular. Really sad.
The other pizza we shared was from the normal menu- with a sesame and spices base, pickled onion, olives, greenery, tomato and yoghurt. It was very nice but a little too cold and tangy overall. It was basically a cold tangy salad on top of bread..... still liked it though. Nice contrast to the hot cauli one. I'd recommend cooking the olives and onion (still pickled) into the base before adding leaves, tomato and yoghurt to reduce the cold factor.
Staff were good enough. I liked that there were lots of good vego pizza options. Thank you.
Caught up with friends for a pizza at Moors head and found it a really good experience.
Had the olives, chicken ribs and the spiced lamb hummus dip for entree.
Really liked the ribs and dip, olives were ok.
Had four pizzas and all were really good, instanbuli my pick.
Service was really good, and beers were original and cold.
Liked the atmosphere too, noticed a couple of people by themselves with a book and a feed. Think that they llked the atmosphere also.
Thumbs up.
We had a terrific night, friendly wait staff, fresh flavours, the specials for the ev ing included a pizza with cauliflower and zatar - deliciously different. This place is really friendly and food is consistently great!
Delicious, mouth watering pizzas that were really soothing on a cool evening out. Plenty to go around and ambience of the restaurant was just right. Flavours were all different, not your usual run of the mill choices. Dessert pizzas included a Nutella option, so this place has my double thumbs up
Nice interior & good customer service. Food appeared simple Lebanese style pizzas. Nice concept however sometimes felt that it's a bit too simplistic & lacking variety & not depict the retro deco character it has. However food made of good ingredients. Taste good but I expected something more creative or nicer . Similar restaurants like Rumi offers more complexity in their dishes. Price reasonable! Overall Rating 3.75*
Always delish! The "inauthentic" nature of their pizzas is what makes them great. The dough is fantastic, perfect balance of fluffy and crispy. Awesome toppings. Great atmosphere, service, food...been several times and never disappointed.
If inauthentic pizzas are that delicious, then authentic pizzas should be worried about their continued existence. Thin, light, crispy base generously topped with meats, olives, cheese and not forgetting tomatoes, one bite and I'm a convert. The spicy smoked beef in the Emir Bashir Two and the chunky lamb in the Sultan Mehmet were bursting with flavours and spices. The savoury pizzas are definitely the stars here. We didn't particularly enjoyed the sweet pizza (the Jamil), as we felt that the honey wasn't pronounced enough and the ricotta drowned out the whole dessert. Just a little setback that didn't marred our enjoyment of the savouries and the especially wonderful hospitality from the lady who served us.
Honestly not sure how this could have been better. Have been wanting to try this place since I moved into the area but somehow haven't got to it yet.
Firstly, best pizza crust/dough ever I think. So crispy but with some real 'meatiness' to the dough still. All the toppings were amazing, staff friendly and passionate. Will be popping in and taking away a lot more now!
Great dinner for our family. Kids were able to chose their own pizza toppings. Favourite was the Bosforus (prawn and garlic). We will be coming back and brining friends!
One of my favourites in the area ! This place has authentic warm middle eastern pizzas. The bases here are amazing and the vibe here is uniquely great.
Great food. Amazing food. The variety of pizzas on offer is really outstanding. The restaurant is a nice place to sit in and the booze selection is solid. Friendly and attentive service.
If you can fit it in, I recommend you try the Nutella pizza.
Was very impressed with the food at The Moor's head. Every dish seemed very flavoursome and the pizza bases were light and crispy, without losing the softness in the middle, just the way I like them.
Great value for money as well, had the banquet option and this covered crudités and a delicious baba ganoush, a pizza, and sweets and tea to finish.
Service was okay, drink orders were a bit mixed up but the food more than made up for it.
Was seated at one of the little booths which was quite pleasant and allowed for some great conversation which wasn't interrupted by other background noise.
A great re-imagining of the traditional pizza complimented by a good wine list and a decent selection of vegetarian options. The Moor's Head offers a fantastic dining experience set in a large open and well decorated space. The staff are extremely helpful and kind, especially when a vegetarian clumsily orders a meat dish... (doh!).
I'm definitely a fan!
Love a good pizza. Love a good alternative pizza too. The Moor's Head does just that, pizzas with a Middle Eastern twist. Opted for the prawn and the three cheese pizzas. Well presented pizzas almost resembling an 1800's ship. Pizzas were very tasty and the base and crust were nice and crunchy (thumbs up). A refreshing side of freekah salad to complement made for a delicious meal. A bit out of the way for me but well worth the travel. Thanks for the great meal.
Not only did they have the most delicious and creative pizza flavours, but hands down one of the best customer service experiences I've ever had. Would definitely go back again.
My wife and I frequent The Moor's Head. We love their gluten-free minoushes and pides.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is great: with all the Lebanese movie posters adorning the walls and an open kitchen where you can watch the pizzas being made.
My wife's favourite pizza is the "Fred the Deaf," which she has with hummus instead of the tahini yogurt. I know this as I have ordered it for her so many times. :)
I've worked my way through the menu and also love the range of special minoushes and pides that are put on.
Where do I begin ..
After such an enthusiastic welcome into the restaurant we were immediately seated and given the perfect rundown of all the vegetarian dishes. The overall service was perfect and the presentation of the food was also perfect. Both pizzas looked and tasted fresh with no hidden nasties, we would definitely recommend the Istanbuli ! The dukkah did overpower aspects of the dishes, but it didn't take away the middle eastern taste. Can't go past this restaurant without a second glance or leave without trying their delicious Turkish delight. Will be returning in the very near future!
Top: Beiruti
Bottom: Istanbuli

This old garage-turned-restaurant, located at the back of a nondescript shopfront on High Street, finally lured us in. What occasion? To celebrate Hubby Bear's birthday with a merry crew of our friends. Find out what we thought about their "inauthentic" Lebanese pizzas and other Middle Eastern fare by ↓↓ clicking the link below ↓↓
This place never dissapoints! Incredible moreish pizzas cooked beautifully with aromatic middle eastern spices and quality ingredients. Love the fact that the menu caters really well for vegetarians and the diversity of offerings. The Bosphorus pizza is my go to with a spicy, herb tomoato sauce topped with tender prawns , chilli & coriander in a little pide style casing.Be sure to try their starters of tangy pickled vegetables & olives and their dips of hummus, labne etc. This is truly a little gem in the north. Service is also efficient and friendly.
Pizza but not as you know it. It reminded me of being in Germany and eating the Turkish pizzas from the little cafes in the laneways, great flavors!! Service was good also and be sure to check out the entrees too.
Loved the staff here!!! Such fab service and menu knowledge. At the end of the day this place is just a pizza joint BUT it's a pizza joint with a difference. Give it a go you won't be disappointed.
Always enjoy our meals here. The pizzas are unique and tasty. The side salads are fantastic, I like all of them. Have never been disappointed. We have been to both the Elsternwick and Thornbury restaurants. The service is always top notch. We got take away once and not as good - like all pizza best to eat fresh.
Past, Present & Pizza
This place had a past. A mechanic's garage, a sewing factory? Whatever it was, the skeleton of steel rafters, concrete floor and leaden windows create hard edge drama against the warmer textures of wood and middle eastern posters. Someone thought out the design and decor like a team on 'The Block' theming industrial bones with rows of earl grey tea tins on the mantels and dark glass medicine water bottles .
The menu? It's all about pizza - the round and the oblong - with middle eastern flavours. The flavours were novel but there was just not enough of any of the toppings to make a substantial morsel. Our meal was filled out by a deliciously creamy almond paste dip with fresh cucumber, radish and pita bread and finished off with squares of fresh, pillow soft, dusty pink Turkish delight. But it just wasn't enough. The pizza needs more, well, food. It's the style of the pizza I guess, but I wished I had a salami sausage stashed in my handbag to slice on my pide.
Still, it's a cool place with a chilled atmosphere and genuinely friendly service. I'd return but might sneak in a supplementary cabana to fill me up.
Great pizza's and a real nice selection of local beers. The pizza base was amazing... So crispy!! And the staff were great. Nice place to go with a group.
My favourite is the vegetarian pizza's! We often eat in and take away!
Great for families, friends, a date night dinner and takeaway. Might head there this weekend!
Came here last night and didn't book, unfortunately didn't get a table but ordered the pide to take away. The food is excellent, unfortunately the let down is the service. They were too busy chatting and didn't even here the bell that our order was ready, we waited and ended up picking it up ourselves. Great food, service? Wouldn't have rated it last night.
Great spiced lamb and hommus dip for starter and pizzas were amazing. Service was very good. Great atmosphere. Drinks reasonably priced at 8.50 for Lebanesr beer.
Been here a few times now for smaller catch ups and as a large group and have always had a great experience - Great food, great service, banquet style great value.
After the 10th time hearing about the Moor's Head it was a sign we had to go. Being from the South we don't often visit the North but every time we do we are amazed and seemingly pissed off we don't come more often. Last night was another one of those "Why don't we come here more often?" nights.
The smell of garlic, fresh dough and assortment of Middle Eastern herbs and spices hits you like a tidal wave on entry. They have gone with a very minimalist setting against polished concrete floors and wooden tables. An open kitchen reveals the chefs hard at work stoking the large furnace with an assortment of both round (The MANOUSHE) and oval shaped (The PIDE) pizzas. Posters from classical Lebanese movies from the 40's adorn all the walls which oozes nostalgia and homage to the homeland.
We ordered the Omar Sharif and the Bosphorus Pide on the recommendation of the waitress. Both dishes came out within 15 minutes piping home on a bread board served with a pizza cutting roller (nice touch). An explosion of around 5 different flavours hits you with every bite, while the freshness is undeniably a standout feature of their food. We shared both dishes and left not a crumb.
Highly recommend this place for great value for money, friendly service and most importantly quality food.
Only advise I would give - get your coffee machine working again!
Thanks!
Pizza with a difference. Tasty crusts and interesting toppings. These guys do a great job. They will walk a pizza across to you at Carwyn cellars if you call in an order while having a pint (and sitting in the sun). I wish they would deliver a bit further. Locals would love having these delivered to their doorstep
Came here yeaarrrsss ago and remember it being delicious. Have put it back on the list as a place to go again with the man....looking forward to it, hopefully it's still amazing!
A breath of fresh air on the Melbourne dining scene, serving non fuss, delicious Middle Eastern inspired food. Over the course of a year and six visits the food, service, menu has yet to take a step back. Online booking system is easy to use and you can even get the pizzas to take away. Keep it going!!!!!!!
Fantastic. Went in for dinner tonight with a couple of friends and had a great time. Friendly staff and fantastic food! Will be back.
YUMMY. Moor's Head food is so tasty! I almost always get the banquet. I think it's great value, especially as the pizzas are so good. $30 for a meal from salads, pizza, through to a dessert and tea/coffee is awesome.
Pleasantly surprised. We headed off to the Moor's Head one night to try something new for dinner. I have not eaten middle eastern food before and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. I really liked the food! It was delicious. We sat in a nice cozy booth and both my kids enjoyed the experience. Friendly staff.
Absolutely delicious food, fantastic space and really friendly staff. I wish I'd known about this place earlier!
So wish we had discovered this neighbourhood gem before now!! Lamb and hummus dip to die for, chicken mannish that was oh so tasty and a 3 cheese pride that you will want to eat again and again!
Adequate choice on the wine list and excellent service! See you again soon!
Great food and lovely service. My friend and I had the banquet and it was a lot of food, but worth it to try a few different pizzas. I'll be going back!
Unusual but delcious pizzas. I've been twice (once with a large group sharing a lot of pizzas) and it has been delicious both times. They are mid-eastern themed pizzas and they are all great (or at least the ones I tried). If I'm in the area, I'd certainly go back.
Yummy food overall, although the iceberg lettuce salad could do wih some embellishment! The service is lovely though, including the waitress who kindly lowered the blinds for me without being asked when the sun was hitting my eyes.
This place was recommended to us for great pizza and did not disappoint.
My partner and I had takeaway pizza on a busy Saturday evening (pick up in half an hour) with no problems. I had the Shams of Tabriz pide, with feta, pine nuts, smokey Aubergine and fresh parsley. It tasted fresh and delicious.
My partner had the Sultan Mehmet with the lamb, which had some sweetness to it. We both preferred the veg pizza (neither of us are Vegos) - but both tasted really good.
The base was especially delicious.
We will be back.
Love this place!!. I've had The Moors Head soooo many times for a tasty, authentic pizza, it's easily one of my favourite pizza places out... and local! The Beiruti is my personal favourite and the Nutella Fatayer is mouth-watering! Friendly staff and comfortable atmosphere. Would most definitely recommend this place :)
Just yum.. I have been waiting so long to try this place. Finally got there on Friday night. Booked for 4 and got a cozy little booth. The place is so welcoming and warm for a winters evening and the host was welcoming with a smile and sat us down promptly.
The food was simple, but tasty. Punchy flavours of the picked vegetables and feta stuffed peppers. The pizzas/pides were just fantastic. Standout was the Omar Sharif (good ol' cheesy, cheesy goodness!). The Lebanese Pops for dessert were interesting and definitely worth a try! I'm intending to go back for more - hopefully very soon.
Accomodating, generous, tasty and not too expensive. They serve great middle eastern style pizzas ! Don’t know of another place that does these, but they’re outside the normal in a great way, and massive. Be prepared to take home leftovers. Portion size in general is also generous for all of their food, not just the pizzas. Not only is this a funky place to eat, but it’s also great value for money. I wouldn’t ask them to change a thing ! Not too noisy either, so you can have a nice chat over dinner. Parking is a little bit tough, so if going, get there early. Also, they agreed to change stuff out in their banquet that we didn’t want to eat. We’ve been twice and wouldn’t hesitate to come again.
First time eating at moors head and first meal in a restaurant since the start of the pandemic. So glad we randomly chose this restaurant. Staff were so nice and accomodating. Flavour of the food was incredible. Will be back to try every other pizza.
great food at such a good price. the banquet options are worth every cent. exceptional service and commitment from Rory.
the experience afforded to me here was much better than Maha! will be back
only piece of feedback relates to
a) lemon slices offered with the Golden Terrace and b) offering sujuck on some of the pizzas. anadolu‘s sujuck is the best in Aus!
Super tasty pizzas and pides with interesting topping options. The prices are pretty reasonable compared to other pizza shops in the area and the servings are generous. Can’t wait to try the whole menu.
Service here was friendly and it has a relaxed casual vibe. The gluten free pizza base was really good. The vegan cheese they use is great. The salad was a little disappointing. I felt the plant based options were a bit limited but I really enjoyed the food.
We had a lovely waitress named Aleah serve us for dinner tonight, she was very great to talk to and recommended some beautiful dishes. Everything was delicious, especially their pizza. We will definitely be recommending this restaurant and will be coming back here again.
Great little spot. Staff were fantastic. The unique menu made it hard to choose what to eat - but we were very happy with our choices!
Reasonably priced moorish food, including great appetisers, pizzas and desserts in chilled surroundings. Very good service, interesting cocktails and good selection of beers. My son was pleasantly surprised to find one from his favourite Weihenstephan, the world's oldest brewery. Would visit again....
