One of my favorite food places in Melbourne's north.
great ambiance, interesting Arabic cinema theme inside, fresh and vibrant flavors that combine both middle eastern warmth and western fusion.
do make it a point to also try the desserts besides the yummy pizzas
Did some research on Broadsheet before making a booking for eight last weekend and was not disappointed! Helpful service deciphering the menu for the uncultured of us, and the food was top notch - The three cheese pide and turkish delight were pure joy. Super warm interior was also nice escape from the cold!
So middle eastern pide pizza is a thing, and it’s amazing.
Moor’s Head offers rustic soul food with a contemporary edge in a warm, communal space. This unique Thornbury eatery has been going strong for nearly a decade.
I took a night off my gluten free regime to indulge in their perfectly crafted parcels of deliciousness and don’t regret it one bit. No heavy, greasy pides here, think vibrant, rustic soul food with a refined edge. There are plenty of plant based options, a great wine list and my favourite: a bottle of fragrant hot sauce waiting on every table.
The staff will make you feel right at home with a service that is relaxed but attentive, offering helpful recommendations on a menu that features a blend of familiar and exotic ingredients.
A modest $34 will get you a banquet of cold mezze, a pizza and crisp salad, followed by Turkish coffee or peppermint tea served with sugar dusted Turkish delight. YOLO.
Thank you Moors, not to be confused with Moops 😉
Absolutely amazing pizza with exception taste 👌🏽 you can really tell there was all love into these pizzas from the quality ingredients right down to the base. The spiced smoked beef oh my God!! Will be back again!
Nice place for small groups or a couple, I enjoyed the bosphorus pide. The pizzas and pides are a nice change from the italian style other pizza places serve.
Really nice middle eastern style pizzas
My friend made the comment that they’re aren’t enough toppings
But as a whole, I don’t think he’s correct
What’s on it is the correct amount and the flavours are great
Would recommend the prawn one
3.5. Ordered a takeaway Erkin Koray pide which was very tasty. The lamb kofta skewer had a great sauce although the lamb itself was a little bland. Conversely, the garlic prawn skewer was well-marinated and juicy. Although I personally preferred the Golden Terrace's spiced beef as a topping and wouldn't have minded a bit more of the tomato base, this was still a very good 'pizza'.
Unconventional pizzas? 🍕 Yes please. Moors head pizza has plenty of Lebanese pizzas that tickles the taste buds. We got a pizza and a pide to share. The hummus on the Emir Bashir was a nice touch. Highlights: the bread base - yum! Lowlights: something about the ambience that is a little off.
P.S. our first time eating in Thornbury, what a cool burb.
Delicious and fresh food in a fun environment. Best for groups so you can sample lots of menu items and combine them. Absolutely love the pides
A twist to the traditional middle eastern pizza! Hidden of High st Thornbury is a great place to go when you want something a bit fancier than the normal lebanese pizza.
They have the Manoushe and the Pide. Both with a similar crust but a different base. We ordered Fred the Deaf (Manoushe), Erkin Koray , The Bosphorus and the Golden Terrace. The highlight of the night was the Bosphorus the garlic prawns were fresh and the black chili was fragrant.
Atmosphere: Nothing special but nice
Food: Delicious!
Price: Reasonable $20+ a pizza
Location: A bit far for city siders but great for the north side.
I have been wondering what the fuss is about this place. Now I kinda of get it. Great tasting pide. It is fresh and the toppings are different from the usual standard fare. We had the bosphorus with the chilli oil as recommended by many reviewers. Amazing. If you are after a good night out with a tasty meal at a reasonable price, this place would make it to the list.

In a cozy dim setting off of the hustle and bustle of high streets night life you will find a little gem "The Moors Head".
With a straight forward menu to offer it is refreshing to make a selection in what usually takes twice the time to read. Do not let that underestimate your choices as their modern take on traditional food was exemplary.
The Mezze was quiet small however the lamb ordered was full of flavour but the garlic prawns where a bit small and tasted like your large chain frozen seafood thawed.
When the Manouse and Pide came out. Wow. Grate aromas and even better flavours. We added smoked beef to the Pide and it, to us, felt like it bran the dish out a bit more though it was already packing heaps with well cooked eggplant and Feta and a Napoletean base sauce the thrive for.
To finish with dessert was to finish with what they do well, "another Pide" with warm ricotta, honey and wallnuts, which when combined in your mouth was a delight.
Will be revisiting for sure.
Accomodating, generous, tasty and not too expensive. They serve great middle eastern style pizzas ! Don’t know of another place that does these, but they’re outside the normal in a great way, and massive. Be prepared to take home leftovers. Portion size in general is also generous for all of their food, not just the pizzas. Not only is this a funky place to eat, but it’s also great value for money. I wouldn’t ask them to change a thing ! Not too noisy either, so you can have a nice chat over dinner. Parking is a little bit tough, so if going, get there early. Also, they agreed to change stuff out in their banquet that we didn’t want to eat. We’ve been twice and wouldn’t hesitate to come again.
First time eating at moors head and first meal in a restaurant since the start of the pandemic. So glad we randomly chose this restaurant. Staff were so nice and accomodating. Flavour of the food was incredible. Will be back to try every other pizza.
great food at such a good price. the banquet options are worth every cent. exceptional service and commitment from Rory.
the experience afforded to me here was much better than Maha! will be back
only piece of feedback relates to
a) lemon slices offered with the Golden Terrace and b) offering sujuck on some of the pizzas. anadolu‘s sujuck is the best in Aus!
Super tasty pizzas and pides with interesting topping options. The prices are pretty reasonable compared to other pizza shops in the area and the servings are generous. Can’t wait to try the whole menu.
Service here was friendly and it has a relaxed casual vibe. The gluten free pizza base was really good. The vegan cheese they use is great. The salad was a little disappointing. I felt the plant based options were a bit limited but I really enjoyed the food.
We had a lovely waitress named Aleah serve us for dinner tonight, she was very great to talk to and recommended some beautiful dishes. Everything was delicious, especially their pizza. We will definitely be recommending this restaurant and will be coming back here again.
Great little spot. Staff were fantastic. The unique menu made it hard to choose what to eat - but we were very happy with our choices!
Reasonably priced moorish food, including great appetisers, pizzas and desserts in chilled surroundings. Very good service, interesting cocktails and good selection of beers. My son was pleasantly surprised to find one from his favourite Weihenstephan, the world's oldest brewery. Would visit again....
