Review Squires Loft - Torquay

Great relaxed atmosphere with friendly and attentive staff. Had a bit of a mix-up with my steak order but our lovely waitress was on the ball immediately regarding it and was very accommodating for the mishap which was in turn rectified quickly and efficiently. Extremely excellent service overall. Cocktails were amazing too! Highly recommend this Squire's location if you're ever in the area!

5 stars! We made a last minute decision to pop in for dinner last week. Managed to book a table and it was great! Steak was perfect, mushroom sauce was the best I've ever had and everything else was tasty! Will definitely be back!

The service here was impeccable. The wait staff were always checking on us and so friendly. Food was great. Lovely atmosphere. Desserts are a must!

Usually, I don't give 5 star reviews, but this was really quite an experience! We had the platter for 4 and the ribs were a perfect start to the night. Chips are best enjoyed fresh, the wait staff (Izzy especially) were professional, friendly and lovely overall. Really good nights' of food and very fair prices. Will come again.

There's a lot of choices (cuts) for your steak. They taste amazing. The downside was that we waited for nearly an hour to eat. They are full packed but an hour wait for your meal is a bit much. When we finally had our steak, my partner and I still had a lot to talk about. The waitress kept asking us if we were finished eating. It annoyed us a bit. We waited for nearly an hour to eat but they kept rushing us to finish just so they can dish out our table. They probably couldn't wait to get home.

I knew it would be good but by the beard of Odin I didn’t realise it would be this good. The atmosphere was like the eve of New Year, people chatting, laughing and singing. We were greeted by staff that were extremely joyful in seeing us regaling us merrily about their day. The venue felt warm and inviting. The waiter was so knowledgeable about cows. From birth to slaughter. If there was a quiz show about beef this young man would surely win. The food arrived………my apologies for the delay I had to wipe my salivating mouth. Even thinking about these scrumptious bovine delights makes my mouth water. My knife fell through the pure succulence of the meaty dish, melted in my mouth and then satisfied my tummy. This experience has got to be the greatest of my life. And I’ve got three kids. World class. Wonderful. Couldn’t recommend enough.

Eaten here a number of times and never had a complaint at all – the food and service is always great! This time it was for a 50th birthday celebration of 17 people, the staff looked after us really well and were patient with our constant delays with chatting too much... and the birthday boy had a great time #winning Thanks for having us Squires Loft, we'll be back again soon x Note/ not sure why the butter needs to be in disposable plastic tubs, can this be done in another way?

Superb I rarely eat steak but made an exception based on reviews for this restaurant. I had the eye fillet with vegetables and a sticky date pudding. Absolutely delicious. Service and ambience was good too.

Had my usual rare eye fillet with baked potatoes and green pepper sauce. The steak was overcooked - closer to medium than medium rare. But it still tasted fantastic. What more can I say, great location, service and consistent quality steak.

Visited for a quick bowl of chips. The staff were so lovely and got them out so quickly! <br/><br/>The interior was surprisingly cosy and intimate. We’ll definitely be back for a full meal.

Partner and I have high expectations of Squires and each time they deliver.<br/><br/>The ambiance was romantic with dimmed lights. The staff are so knowledgeable and honest, easy to get along with. The calibre of meat used is always high quality and the sauces are so tasty. I ordered the eye fillet with mushroom sauce and chips, boyf ordered the black Angus eye fillet. He kept saying it melted in his mouth, I wanted to try however being pregnant and it being rare I couldn’t but will definitely be back after the bub.<br/><br/>We ordered the Chocolate Fudge Cake for dessert and my lord, I did not want to share. The fudge sauce was amazing I would suggest this for your chocolate-lovers and sweet tooths! <br/><br/>We enjoyed our time here and are so happy with the consistency between each site!

Excellent steaks cooked perfectly! All staff were exeptinaly friendly and welcoming. Kids- friendly restaurant and offer good kids food options. Highly recommended.

I don't want to say too much to create an unrealistic expectation, but the food is of a very high calibre and the sauces are amazing. Prior to going there I was not a fan of blue cheese, but their blue cheese sauce has swayed me

The meals were very nice and s good size. The salad was the only downfall when paying a pretty price an iceberg lettuce does not really cut it. The atmosphere was lovely and you could have a conversation. Could not fault the service it was exemplary even the trainee was great.<br/>Would definitely come back for a special occasion.

Tonight we ate at torquay. I spent days drooling over the menu, as I have been on a ketogenic diet for months, when it came to ordering the steak, and finding out which one is grass fed, the website said the steak came with chips, pot or salad.  I had planned on taking my own salad, but was happy when website said salad,.  unfortunately there was no salad. I expressed my disappointment and nothing was done, nor was any salad offered.  When I found out there was sugar in the marinade for not only the meat, but the garlic sauce, I could have almost cried.  The staff were friendly, but unknowledgeable when it comes to the product.  My partner had steak, marinated in sugar, with chips which he didn't want.  The prices are extremely high and this was such a disappointment.  An anticipated meal out after  7 months, only to find they soak everything in sugar,. For most people, this wont be a problem, but when you are overweight and struggling, it is.

Hi! We went to Squires Loft Torquay a few months after opening after Parkers Steak House in Geelong dropped their game.<br/><br/>Squires Loft - Parkers Steak House, same same but different (location!)<br/><br/>Menus are very very similar and the concept is the same, each component from the menu costs extra on top of your steak. Pricing is also high but equal to each other.<br/><br/>I say this but the night we ate here the ribs were good, tasty and easily came off the bone. Our steaks we cooked to our request and other than being super loud and struggling to have a conversation at our own table it was ok.<br/><br/>Service was good considering it was busy and we didn't get to our table until 9pm on a Saturday.<br/><br/>Parking is better, easier at Squires and the outdoor tables are a real plus as long as you can avoid someone smoking.<br/><br/>Squires is the latest shiny toy so will be back, its comfort food that we know what to expect.

Been here twice and both times have been really nice! Ive gotten the eye fillet steak both times and it's been great both times! Must for all steak lovers 🙂 if getting entree and drinks along with a main can get pricey but worth it for a nice night with guaranteed nice food!

Great service and atmosphere, all the waitresses are very attentive and friendly. The servings are huge and the drinks menu offers plenty of beer choices.

For a chain restaurant this venue is absolute standout. The ambience is just right, our food was cooked to perfection, and my wife is a very particular medium/rare kinda of gal and the steak was spot on. The ribs I had was just full of flavour and falling of the bone. <br/>But if you are not into steaks or even food in general come here for the service. The hostess was the most polite and helpful person we have encountered for a while. But then we were introduced to our waitress...and she was just an ABSOLUTE DELIGHT! <br/>Over all we had an amazing experience and highly recommend this restaurant

Do you like steak ? Do you like Chargrilled? Well Squires Loft Torquay is right up there with Vlados in Richmond !!!! Top quality cuts of meat beautiful cooked , great range of sauces and side dishes. Big Selection on wines and beers to choose from. The atmosphere is addictive, the decor is fantastic and suits a steakhouse. The staff are attentive warm and friendly. The only thing I would like to see improved is a few more additions to the desert selection. Price, yes it's up there ! But well worth it !! I will certainly go back !!<br/>For Entree we had the Mushrooms with Feta and the grilled Cheese and for mains Eye fillet, medium rare of course !

Went there last night and gotta say..... it was quite good and exceeded my expectations. Great steak and really good service.<br/><br/>My steak might have been slightly underdone but I can't really knock it. I had the ribeye steak with green peppercorn sauce and my partner had the eye fillet with creamy garlic. I'd personally stay away from the garlic sauce and maybe ask to taste the sauces before you order.<br/><br/>I reckon the music choice should be adjusted to create a better feel as it was almost like shopping Centre music and getting some cool chill music would fit better and improve the ambience<br/><br/>Very clean place and was seated near the fireplace - good spot!<br/><br/>Well done team for a professional service!<br/>I will definitely be back.<br/><br/>Book early though for a Saturday - it was packed which tells you good things

The rating for this restaurant doesn't serve it justice. Good service and excellent steak. The mushroom sauce is a must have with the steak. It wouldn't be a disappointment at all. Would definitely be back here if I visit Torquay again. Keep it up!

Staff were awesome and very professional. The steaks were also amazing. I've been coming down to Jan Juc to our holiday house for 20 + years and this place is by far the best restaurant we have ever been to in the area. 10/10

I must say when it comes to great steak few get it right. What I hate about Squires is they have franchised an experience that should involve love:(. However what I love is they are a great value place that nails it. The meat is good quality. Thickness right and cooked perfectly. Well done

Great atmosphere and very friendly attentive staff. Menu had a great selection we opted for mushrooms with feta to start with herb butter, they were amazing and so tasty 10/10.<br/>The 200g eye fillet was cooked to request and very tender no fat on this steak, only 2 disappointments;<br/>1) the garlic sauce ($5) was barely warm and spoiled the food as the meal didn't taste warm with the sauce<br/>2) the chips on the side are just a basic bland frozen chip, I would expect a nice tasty hand cut chip of some sort with a quality steak.<br/>Also ordered the prawn skewers very tasty (about 5 prawns on each skewer) again the garlic sauce was barely warm which made the meal less enjoyable, however the baked potato on the side was delish.<br/>Great wine menu and selection of beers, the fresh bread as a complimentary starter was so fresh and amazing.<br/>I would certainly fine here again would just check my sauce before pouring it over my meal.<br/>Approx $105 for 2 people with a shared starter, 2 mains and 2 alcoholic drinks.

Excellent service and excellent food. Would recommend this to anyone. Torquay required and deserves a classy restaurant like this with good food and produce.

The experience at Squires was like a winter wonderland for the meat eaters, washed down with a good (not wanky) wine list. Staff were very friendly and not in your face. Menu has plenty of other options other than the obvious. A must visit in winter when you want a hearty meal taken up a notch! Try the ribs - AMAZING.......

Customer Service and Quality of food was impeccable. I brought the family in to Squires Loft for Dinner and I have to say that we all were really impressed. Wait staff were very friendly and spent a lot of time ensuring our experience was one we would remember and we certainly did . Pricing was very reasonable considering the quality of the food and the service we received from the moment we opened the door. I would highly recommend Squires Loft to anyone in the town or any one coming into town.. <br/><br/>Have a go at the Steak and Ribs!!!!!!

Very disappointed tonight. Found a hair in one of our meals. Waitresses with hair "just" tied up, one girl playing with her hair at the food bar. Thankfully they did not charge extra for the hair - not even 10% reduction on the bill - not sure I will be rushing back

Awesome food and even better service. Dear Squires Loft Team, thanks for making our 1st wedding anniversary a fantastic night. The food is just as good as all the other Squires Loft restaurants, but the service is the best we have experienced. Keep up the good work.

Went here when first opened and was amazing. This time extremely disappointed with our meals. Service was impeccable and staff wonderful but unfortunately food not half as good as our previous visit

Torquay is so lucky to have a place like this! It's been a huge hit since opening, my friends and I have been at least once a fortnight and it is amazing every time. Although it is a steak house, the prawns and chicken breast are to die for with the squires baste and if you can fit it in (which is unlikely the meals are huge!) the chocolate pudding is amazing. Definitely recommend to anyone and everyone. Huge congrats to the owners on their beautiful business

Yummy yummy steak in my tummy!. Wow, since this place opened I have not cooked steak at home, I could never cook it as good! I'm in love with the beef ribs, chargrilled vegetables and the delicious sticky date pudding (great for sharing). The open fire at the back and decor make it feel like a warm and cosy and a table out the back is a must. The wine list was impressive, something to suit all budgets. Can't wait to eat there again, I already know I'm having a beef rib entree! Just what Torquay needed.

Finally a good place to go in Torquay. Great service, awesome looking restaurant and yum food! We will be back!!!

Great food and service but a bit pricy. If you love meat you should definitely try this place. went there on a date night and it was definitely a win. had the ribs for entree' which were great but maybe could've done with a little more seasoning. Then we had eye fillets for mains which were cooked to perfection. good selection of wine which complimented the meals perfectly and for dessert we shared a sticky date pudding which was great. the only issue with this place i can see is the pricing. it was to be honest quite an expensive night totalling close to $190 for the experience. we will definitely be going back at some point but with these prices we wont make it a regular thing. oh and the staff were flawless. great hosts 10/10 for sure.

Date night. We had a lovely time here. Great atmosphere and perfect for a chilly winters night on the Surfcoast. It was very toasty inside the restaurant. If you can, ask for a table away from the front door. Try the ribs

We love everything about Squires Loft. It looks amazing a has a warm & friendly feel. The ribs are to die for! The eye fillet with mushroom sauce is my favorite although I've tried everything on the menu and its all delicious. We have been there every week since it opened and its been consistently great! The owners & the staff are so lovely that we always want to go back. You have to go!!!

High prices yet the butter is served in little plastic take away tubs? Really odd. Meal wasn't unpleasant but not worth $300 for a midweek casual meal for 4. Also had to eat with our coats on as it was so cold inside.

Our first visit to this new kid on the block! Fantastic. My eye fillet was cooked to perfection and my husband tried the ribs which he thoroughly enjoyed. Nice wine list and service was friendly and attentive. We will be back.

Great food & Setting. My husband and I have eaten at the Squire's Loft in Torquay 3 Saturday evenings now and we just love it. The atmosphere is lovely and the owners and staff are just wonderful. Very good menu which is beautifully prepared and presented. The staff are really pleasant and we enjoy the gorgeous surroundings to have our meal. Soft lighting, not to loud music and so inviting. If you haven't been yet it is a must.

What a marvelous find this place is<br/>Great setting and genuinely friendly staff with the most attentive service .<br/>The warm and friendly greeting as we entered immediately set the tone for our dining experience.<br/>The rustic timber feel is perfect and with the fire crackling in the rear part of the dining area, this really added to a comforting ambience<br/>The Entree of Beef Ribs is to die for.<br/>I had the main of Rib Eye ( with baked potato and sour cream) on the bone that was grilled to perfection whilst my partner had the surf and turf and chips with a blue vein cheese sauce on the side.<br/>Done to perfection with great advice on the rareness differences with meat on the bone.<br/>The crispness of a shared greek salad provided a fresh crisp accompaniment. No limp lettuce here!<br/>The great choice of wines to suit all levels of taste allowed me to try a couple by the glass that i have never had before.<br/>Im not a sweets person, but agreed to share a sticky date pudding alongside a coffee.<br/>This is one of the best i have ever tasted, served beautifully with small bowl of ice cream and a drizzle od sauce.<br/>This place is a winner and the steaks are reminiscent of some great meals i have has at Vlados years ago but without the snobbery .

Best Food in Torquay!!. I was so excited to pop into the restaurant last night. I find that the options in Torquay for a nice meal are pretty limited, and in the past have left most of them quite disappointed, but this one is fabulous!!<br/><br/>The fit out is lovely, dont be put off by the white walls and open layout in the front, request to sit in the back - it is lovely and dark and comfy with fireplace and booth seats along the side wall. <br/><br/>We enjoyed the prawn kebab and fried haloumi for starters, and each of us had a steak, my eye fillet was cooked to perfection and my partner was also really happy with the scotch. (He grew up on a farm, so he knows his meat)! My mushroom sauce was beautiful, and went nicely with the delicious chips on the side. We shared the greek salad which was ok, I might try some other sides next time to find my favourite.. <br/><br/>Would thoroughly thoroughly recommend this restaurant - I truly hope that it gets support and can stick around.. We will definitely be going back for more...
