Really nice food, friendly staff, great setting with kids - a little pricey, but wasn't expecting cheap and nasty with beach views in Torquay!
Group of 4 adults, 4 kids - got Cosy Corner pack, fennel chilli school prawns and 4 fish tacos for the grown ups - was enough food without feeling like we'd had too much.
Chips hand cut, so funky shaped and colour but delicious, calamari was great, fish taco with ceviche gummy was brilliant, school prawns were great to (and the kids were too grossed out, so more for the grown ups). Pea salad a little heavy on onion, but was a good filler.
Not the place if you're on a budget, but I'm really happy we went (and great sound track too, and the kids sand pit and black board gave us great grown ups catch up time)
Kids loved the Kiddo fish & chips, I had the Autumn Salad which was so fresh & yummy.
I can honestly say that the Flake was the best I have ever had in 29 years of my life!

Dropped by here for lunch a few days ago on our way to Apollo Bay, and I just can't stop thinking about how wonderful it was. We ordered fish and chips for seven people to take away, so we had to wait a little while, but it was so worth it. The monkfish was super soft and melted in my mouth, while still maintaining a cripsy batter. The potato chips were clearly housemade, with the skin still intact, and perfect fried, not oily or greasy and with almost the perfect amount of sea salt. Tartare sauce was a perfect sauce to compliment everything. Definitely recommend this place for fish and chips!
Cannot say enough good things about this fish and chip place. This is not your regular fish and chip shop. The food here tasted fresh, refreshing and simply amazing which deserves a decent review. The staff were genuine and helpful! I am so glad I tried this place. The three choices I picked turned out to be the best Iâve ever had.

Letâs be clear on a couple of things here. First: gummy is not commonly served as a ceviche. Main reason is that gummy can easily turn dry and chewie. That didnât happen at Fishos. That shows technique and know-how. Second: although raspberry vinaigrette is nothing new, using it as an oyster dressing is a bold move. And it payed off 100%.
Yes, it is a tad more expensive than a normal fish and chips. If you donât think quality food is worth a few more bucks maybe you shouldnât be reading reviews tho.
Staff is friendly and the location is extremely convenient.
Went there in the evening after a drive on the great Ocean road and this place became the highlight of the drive!

Itâs a pretty good option but it is expensive; but only if youâre going with a small party. A number of tables around us had the share tray and no one seems to be able to finish it. For the two of us we virtually paid as much for a lot less food and I walked away feeling hungry. Undeniably the food is delicious and I love the idea of locally sourced food. The fish tacos were excellent as was the fish we ordered and the calamari. I suggest that of all the vegetables to order the carrot and kale is the way to go (and all the locals seem to have ordered this one), definitely best bang for buck. Everybody seems to know to show up at 5 on the dot to snag the best table!
So in conclusion, great location and views and the food came quickly. However as a party of two I feel like you donât get great value; you wonât get any change out of $60 for food and two beers. But a party of 4-6 eating a share platter, $72 plus drinks is good value. A share platter for 2 say at $36 would be fantastic.

I nominate this place for best fish & chips in Australia! Everything was great! Great location right opposite Torquay beach and lovely classy hamptons style decor.
Great customer service. Friendly chap at the till taking orders, smiles, laughed at our silliness. All the other staff were friendly too (and good looking!), lots of smiles. Looked like they were genuinely happy to be there. Despite the fact that it was a hot and very busy public holiday.
Then the food. We had a round of grilled dory fish with salads. The salads were delicious, very fresh with lots of gourmet ingredients like spring onion, dill, radish, lentils and super large generous portions. Fish was well grilled and delicious.
We also had chips, which were perfectly friend and crispy with a lovely homemade look. We also tried the cheese croquettes which turned out to be super delicious, with a very hearty homemade tomato relish and sprinkled with chives and fresh parsley.
All round, super impressive, and well worth the price and the wait given how packed the place was on a public holiday with perfect beach weather.

Wow !! What a find ! Loved every mouthful and very highly recommended the fish tacos, absolutely delicious.. fish & Chips are exceptional and location is beautiful.
We finished off with one of the best desserts Iâve had ! Fried fresh cut pineapple with lime sugar and pineapple cream .. stuff dreams are made of !!

Excellent restaurant/bar. The menu is so tasty and I love how they source all their fish locally. The atmosphere is perfect for a weekend lunch with friends as the outdoor and indoor seating is so cute. Highly recommend the sweet potato cake and the thick cut rustic chips as sides to some beautiful fish.

When I think of the beach I also think of Fish and Chips. This place is more than your average fish and chip shop.
They have most of their seating outside and a play area for the kids. I love how family friendly these places in Torquay are. They have limited seating inside and we went on a cold night and was lucky enough to get a spot next to the fireplace. Seriously beach views, wine, seafood and a fireplace. What more can someone want? The Seafood was so fresh and most of the time I opt for battered fish but I suggest you dump the oil for grilled pure delight. The chips were perfection and if you love Oysters donât even think twice order a dozen. After this amazing food we were really hanging for some dessert and to be honest, I was not expecting much but my apple pie was 10/10.
The only disappointment was that on the board it said ice cream and I got vanilla cream. I can forgive that when the apple pie was simply amazing without cream or ice cream.
