You know you’re in for an interesting experience as soon as you enter, care has been taken to create the perfect atmosphere for casual dining.

A professional & friendly greeting, run through of the menu & we were left to browse a diverse range of dishes.

The food came quickly & our group of 10 praised every meal. Highly recommended!

Great atmosphere and friendly service. Food tasted and looked really authentic. Be prepared to eat with your hands, although thats half the fun!

Twelve of us had dinner there and choose the banquet.  The food was very good, our host was very attentive and accommodating and the restaurant itself was good and clean.  In regards to cost the banquet was well priced.  In regards to authenticity - I figure if other African folk eat there it must be authentic.
Note- No knives and forks,  so be prepared to eat the traditional way - which is no problem. Also they have  back room with a couple of pool tables if you feel like stretching your legs. Would recommend this restaurant.

This is a hidden gem. It's not widely known outside the small African community here but it ought to be. Full marks for the food and the decoration which the proprietor has gone to great efforts to install.

The food alone here, is worth contesting over a car park in the busy street for. This place serves up tasty, authentic & well priced ethiopian food! Greeted by the smiling owner you immediately feel very welcomed. He takes the time to talk you through the menu & how to eat the delicious dishes with the injera (pancake style bread). This place is value for money & offers a very speakeasy kind of vibe. Always busy which is a good sign but not a surprise.

This place is not well known outside of the Adelaide African community. Hidden off Henley beach road, it's a rather large restaurant presenting East African cuisine. The food it flavoursome with very generous portions, all will a price you can't complain about.

If you haven't had food from this region do check it out. They don't seek alcohol on the premises, so be mindful if you like a drink with your food.

Ordered the Doro Wat. Perfectly tender chicken and a generous spicy stew with plenty of the traditional bread to mop up all the sauce. Perfect. Great customer service also

I recently dined with my wife on a thurs afternoon and was pleasantly surprised as a first time at having African food. the food was very reasonable[$30 in total including 2 soft drinks].the staff went out of there way to accommodate my wife who cant have any of the onion family, and explained all the dishes and modified one for her.Staff were friendly ,efficient and  courteous and .asking if everything was satisfactory. The food was enjoyable and delicious and more than reasonably priced .very clean establishment and very friendly and welcoming atmosphere the chef also took an interest in customers dining there. All in all a great 1st time African food experience.which will see Jill and I returning again when I next return to Adelaide.

Delicious food, just walked in and tell Mo to make a share plate for as many on your table and let them weave their magic. Carnivore or vegan options and it's all delicious! Prices went up recently I think to about $25 per head which was a big step from the early days, but you are supporting a great effort to bring community together, do you get a triple bottom line!

If you want to taste some amazing food made to perfection and want to immerse yourself in this cuisine, then definitely check this place out. I recommend first timers get the Taste Of Ethiopia plate which gives a little bit of everything, served on delish injera bread. Forget the cutlery, the injera bread is for ripping up and scooping the food up with your fingers. (There's napkins and hand sanitiser on every table, don't worry!) You will leave feeling full and satisfied. We have always left raving about our visits and bring friends... who then visit again and bring their friends! One of our guests had a peanut allergy and they accommodated it flawlessly. Finally we finished up with a huge pot of delicious traditional tea with cinnamon, thyme, mint and clove. Make sure you book. Kitchen closes at 7pm

Really - amazing! Sometimes it is hard to describe why you should visit a place but in this case it literally was every piece of the experience from the time of opening the door. Lovely staff, well educated and super helpful....a really nice local feel, yet we'll appointed....and the food...WOW! Go for the tasting plate and really get a full experience and then you mist mistrust have a tea or coffee. The food is richly flavoured but not too spicey (hot), and fresh, it has zing, personality, texture and thought. If you have never tried the lovely stews and fresh food of Ethiopia- don't be scared, it's amazing and something for every taste. Highly highly recommend it and will be a repeat visitor for years to come.

We were guests at a party held at the centre / restaurant. Lovely African feel and experience. The food, I believe was traditional and well made. There was no alcohol - and none needed.

Dinner at African Village Centre Restaurant - my first time eating Ethiopian food! Really loved it 🤤🤤😍😍. The food was so delicious! . Lentil sambusas: crispy pastry with a delicious filling! Super tasty 🤤. . Key Wot: Spicy beef stew simmered in a red Berbere sauce, infused with cardamom, fenugreek and cloves - this was sooooo delicious! Worked super well with the sour flatbread! . Denech Wat: Potato, carrot and capsicum stew cooked with onion, garlic, fresh chilli, traditional herbs and spices - super tasty! Loved the flavours 🤤😍. . Sizzling Beef Tibs: seasoned with green chili, onion, rosemary and a blend of Ethiopian spices, served on a sizzle plate - so good 🤤😍. . Sizzling chicken tibs: similar to above dish! Excellent flavours! . Special Ful Sudanese: Black Eyed Beans simmered in a sauce infused with garlic, chilli and cumin. Garnished with Feta cheese, olive oil and cracked pepper. Served with scrambled eggs, bread and salad - great combination of flavours! Soooo delicious! . Kik Alicha: Yellow split peas simmered in a mild sauce of onion, herbs and spices - nicely done! Yum! . Injera: flatbread that tasted quite sour, but was a good combination with all the bold flavours of the dishes! . Traditional Ethiopian tea: very distinct! Great 🙂.
