Great atmosphere and friendly staff. The decorations were so cute and the idea of putting the menus in storybooks is so clever! Delicious cakes!
Just had a delicious breakfast and coffee. I normally have 1 sugar with my coffee but my coffee was so delicious I didn't even add a sugar. Salmon omelette was beautiful and my husband's eggs benedict had perfectly poached eggs with plenty of yummy hollandaise
Quality local produce and interesting menu. After being taken here by a friend who in turn had been taken here by his mother, I have had the pleasure of visiting this kitsch gem twice now, have recommended it to some ten others and will return again. Hidden away in one of the old shopping arcades on Charters Towers Road, this cafe, deli and purveyor of strange odds and ends is serving some of the most interesting breakfasts I have seen in some time. On a menu that bravely had the listed special as crumbed brains was a range that included house made feta on toast with honey and locally sourced Backfatters bacon.
Most recently, I ordered a full breakfast, while my girlfriend ordered mushroom and tomato bruschetta. My breakfast included both maple and regular bacon and chipolata, all provided by Backfatters and all delicious. In addition, the large serving board included eggs sunny side up, house made baked beans, sourdough toast, mushrooms and a most exquisite potato, herb and mozzarella hash that made my morning. A friend who went there on my recommendation, twice now, has said that it was busy to the point of staff advising a reservation, but also sang the praises of the food.
Loved the quirky atmosphere and decor, staff and food. I felt like I walked back into my childhood. The menu offered a great variety of beverages, breakfast, lunch and desserts. Staff are super friendly and welcoming. A really nice place to sit with friends and enjoy what the establishment has to offer.
It's rare to feel like you have entered another world when you walk into a cafe, here I totally there was another world. Food is delicious and huge portions. Service is great and atmosphere just delightful.
Unique flavours, not your average Cafe, and great for lovers of vintage kitch
Quite a unique little establishment with a great approach for the general public to absorb. Their menu physically, is a great way to appeal to the customer with young children. I don't know why, but I keep referring to The Cat's Meow as The Cat's Pyjamas. Probably because I used to have a neighbour who always used that expression. Anyway, The Cat's Meow IS the Cat's Pyjamas. It's a really great establishment. Their menu is very unique and the presentation of their meals is very professional. The whole establishment feels like a step back in time when you enter. Great customer service with a nice casual, relaxing feel. It certainly reminds me of the way that Coffee shops used to be like back when I was much younger. Certainly, a big "two thumbs up" to The Cat's Meow. A truly great and very pleasurable experience to be had by all customers when they enter this establishment. I will definitely continue in future to enjoy the quality service, environment, coffee and meals from this truly unique environment. It is like a step back in time to when how coffee shops used to be like, back in the day.
Good service, quirky environment + an amazing menu. Good for small groups
Great quirky atmosphere. I had the bacon and egg spring rolls and the white chocolate mocha. Both of which I would recommend. Loved the fact that there was a lot on the menu that was interesting and different to the standard breakfast options.
Delicious Brunch food in a quirky cafe, with 60's decor. Fascinating collector's items on every shelf. Sweet potato mushroom and haloumi vegie stack served deliciously surrounded be pesto. It was awesome. Coffee was fantastic with the bonus that they sell their beans. Staff were efficient and friendly. Will be going back to try the most delicious looking like milkshake that some one else was having.
