Review Tom's Tavern - Townsville

Decent pub fare with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Chicken schnitzel and seafood BBQ cooked to perfection. Sticky date pudding came with generous dollops of whipped cream and berries.

Many, Many Thanks to Tom's Tavern for our amazing event held out on the Terrace. It was a family birthday party for over 50 people and we were so grateful for all the planning, assistance and kindness from Managers, Chefs and Servers. They went out of their way to make it special. We chose platters as our food option and it worked beautifully. The food was hot, plentiful and tasty. Guests were seated at tables covered with crisp white tablecloths and served themselves from a banquet table. Particular favourites were the seafood, vegetarian and gourmet skewer platters. We had our own bar and it was all very convenient and private Just brilliant! Thank-you.

Big portions for snitzels , food Was cooked well , came out quick considering was mothers day, we have a booking for next Friday for my sons bday dinner, might try a pasta or steak next time for me :) Also has a nice big kids area outside and a play room inside 👌

Came out to dinner recently and had a lovely evening however was served by one staff member who didn't seem overly pleased to be working (Alison or Alisha). A smile would have been nice and less attitude possibly. Otherwise, food was delicious and came out quickly. Restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere too

great pub to be at by yourself / with family and friends. a calm and quiet, atmosphere. staff here are amazing.

Crumb steak was tough, as was the rump steak...made it hard to enjoy eating it. Salad was nice and chips go with everything ..ribs and wings were good Update: All the other times we have eaten at Tom's the food has been excellent so I guess I was just disappointed it wasn't your usual excellent standard. I should be fair and state that, for the most, the food is of a high standard. Really should post positives not just negatives.

Impressed, service was lovely and food was great. Love all the car photos on the wall.

We used to go to another place in Townsville to ear at night and then we found Tom's Tavern . Whilst the last place was good this is better. Big meals reasonable prices. Meals well presented and good flavour. Staff are friendly and efficient. No long wait for meals.

1 star because the staff were nice but the food we ordered was hideous. Ordered the Pork Pit boss platter. The pork belly was tough like rubber and had a thick layer of unrendered fat on top, the "crackle" was made by flipping the braised belly rind side down on a hot pan before serving but only a portion the size of a 10 cent coin had actually made contact with the frypan so the rest of the "crackling" was rubbery plain boiled pork skin. The pulled pork was only 1 step up from pureed mush and the pork ribs were boiled or cooked in a slow cooker and were mushy tasteless crap with a a fake liquid smoked sauce slathered on them. The pork sausage was ok but certainly wasn't a grilled sausage like the description said... $27 bucks worth of rubbish. The missus ordered a steak which was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overcooked. , Didn't even have proper beer glasses..who drinks beer out of a highball glass? will never return.

Good food, good service & good value. Have been here with the family a few times over the past week and we were never disappointed. Even big groups are welcome and the food came out super fast & delicious. Highly recommend the burger special with mac & chesse croquettes & pulled pork yum!!! Great for little ones too as of the outdoor play area. ���

What a lovely night fir our wedding renewals. Great staff and the meals for bloody fantastic didn't have to wait long at all. Everybody who attended thought the meals were great. And the staff set our room up fantastic for us. Will certainly recommend it to everyone we know. Thanks so much Tom's tavern. Well done.

Great customer service, unfortunately that's all the positive feedback I have. Food was absolutely terrible, asked for an eye fillet steak - medium well done, came out charred so bad on the outside that it was bitter, yet still bleeding. My partner had a t-bone medium rare (supposed to be tender), it was so ridiculously chewy!! I had a bite to see and I honestly could not swollow that damn thing because it was so stringy and chewy. My jacket potato was boiled, not even baked, chips were soggy, salad and colewslaw you could taste they were sitting there for far too long. Not worth our money at all. Never coming back.

I usually like Tom's as it's a good place for the kids but tonight I found it very disappointing, the meal was OK then went to get the kids dessert, after standing where the sign says to I was told to either line up or go to the bar and order...why would you go to a bar to order dessert??? and why be told to come back and order just here( infront of sign) if it was incorrect place, not impressed tonight at all...rant over!!!

Highly recommend Toms for a birthday dinner food was awesome and all the staff lovely thank you �

Just want to thank the girls in the Bistro area working today lunch (18/3/18). while we waited at least 40 mins for our meals (2x salads). they were lovely and their customer service skills were top notch when we approached them regarding the where abouts of our meals. they offered us a free drink each and we received 2 x meal vouchers. we will definitely be using them soon! the food was delicious and the service was great!! thanks again girls job well done!

The food was terrible chips were soggy like they had been sitting in warmer for an hour , batter on fish was the same . No excuse for this there were maybe 10 tables in use. Will not be coming back and would not recommend to anybody .

Christmas lunch spent here and I can't say enough about the staff. Always friendly but were exceptional for this event. Prawns were over salted but staff were immediately happy to help as best they could when bought to their attention. Thanks guys and girls

Lovely steak burgers at Tom’s Tavern yesterday. Would recommend them to everyone. Served with a nice amount of crispy chips, not too many.

Wow my first time there Yesterday, Went for lunch and took the kids. Firstly awesome service the girl serving behind the bar was simply lovely then the service we got from ordering, again awesome service. The herb garden outside was awesome what a great idea. The kids loved the kids area. What a great feel/vibe to this place. Thumbs up from us to them and can't wait to go back.

2nd time for dinner, each time great value for money with excellent service from staff, delicious meals with a great atmosphere to go with it all. Highly recommended!

My partner and I attended the Melbourne Cup Luncheon today. The atmosphere was fantastic. Despite how super busy it was staff extremely friendly and attentive. The food was fantastic and Fashion Stakes were high.

I will never ever go back to toms tavern again.. i had a bad experience there before but thought i would give them another chance.. spent $110.00 for cold meals and a well done steak that still had blood through it.. even the pizza base wasnt cooked.. BUT they did give me $9.50 back.. which was what i paid for the dessert.. now 3 adults and 4 kids have to go spend more money on something we can actually eat... i believed your sorry "story" the first time i wont be believing you again.

Had a regular function at Toms Tavern tonight, food was great, service was great always a pleasure �

The food was really really great worth the money BUT when we got there there was no booking but my hubby rang at 230 n made the booking

Went there for my daughters 21st birthday, the day was ruined by the noise of multiple televisions blasting out several different sports at the same time! Conversation at the table was impossible! Ruined what was actually a decent meal! I asked a staff member to turn it down but another turned it back up! It is a restaurant not a sports bar! Sorry guys meals and service was ruined by cage fighting!
