Review Island Market Trigg - Trigg

Brad Mays
As a visitor from Melbourne we are always looking for good fish and chips. As we had been down to Scarborough beach earlier we decide to see what options were around for fish and chips. Google led us to Fork n fish. This little fish and chip shop did not disappoint. I can honestly say that the burger was the best I had had in awhile. The squid rings were delicious and cooked to perfection along with the chips. If you want really good chips and burgers along with squid then I would highly recommend trying out this place. Can not comment on fish as we did not have any but on what we had I would say it would be great. A bit pricey but the quality is there and that’s what count.

As a fish and chips lover I was very disappointed in this place. We paid over $68 for 2 x fish and chips, squid rings, 1 x fish cake, 3 x pineapple fritters, 1 x crab stick and 3 small Woolworth kids’ juices. The good. The chips were good and so too were the tasty, dusted squid rings. The bad. For $12.95 you get one (1) small piece of fish with not much fish inside and quite dry. It reminded me of when I’d over-cooked the fish you find in supermarkets in cardboard boxes but was less meaty. After receiving the order I questioned the price (my partner made the order). When i asked about the huge sign with the deal (see photo) at the front of the restaurant we were told that is a different fish (we had asked for “fish and chips” so I don’t know how the signage could refer to a different “fish and chips”). I think the place was pulling a fast one. If they weren’t then it is a truly expensive place for what you get. The three little drinks came to $10.50 ($3.50 each). The fish was very overpriced for what you received, most places are $9 around the area (check out Brighton Fish and Chips). We would happily have spent $68+ on The Canteen (great fish and chips and opposite the sea). The moral of this story is: if you like squid and chips then this is a good place to visit. If you prefer fish and chips then definitely avoid this place because your money can be better spent elsewhere, a place that won’t leave you disappointed.

Have ordered here several times now since we moved to Trigg. Such beautiful fresh fish and generous chips. Family who run it are also lovely and friendly. He told us he used to be a chef in Perth hotels and you can certainly tell from the quality of his food.

It was the first time we tried this shop. Hooray, finally found a chef who can cook Snapper and chips. Good sized portions, tenderly cooked with an awesome non overpowering batter. Chips and Squid rings were great too!. Thank you, will make you our number one Fish n Chip shop in our neighbourhood

Fish and chips in nz are a lot better then Aussie fish and chips... this place was one of the best I've had North or the river. The snapper and shark fish was great and the food was really well presented. 10/10 it's hard to find a good takeaway these days. Cheers Stan!

First time ordering at this place and the fish was lovely, batter perfect, and a good portion of chips, was actually left full 🥰,home made tartar sauce lovely to. Asked for a cold drink and they did that all correct, only mistake was I ordered a Coke no sugar and got a Coke can instead 😫,but aside from that I'd order again 🤗

Very satisfying fish and chips with sides of mussels and sea scallops for three. Chips were tasty but lacked the crunch they could have had. Generous portions. Great friendly staff. We shall return.

We were greeted at the entrance by the host who was unbelievably rude. The couple after us immediately commented on how rude he was. Not only was he unwelcoming, he basically told us leave, as there is a long waiting time. Go there to have your day spoilt. He behaves like they don’t need anyone’s business. Bye....

Was really looking forward to dinner and checking out this restaurant, to our disappointment it was a terrible experience, firstly we were ask to be seated against a window with 2 chairs facing nothing, when we asked to be given a table it seemed to take ages for them to decide if they would give us any of the 2 tables right in front of us that hadn’t be cleared, finally we are seated and the waiter was very despondent, almost like what do you want, after ordering our food and drinks we get served our entree, my husband got his drink and I’m still waiting for my wine, so after asking where my wine is it arrives, then a few minutes later another waiter comes over with another glass of wine...WTF no communication between the staff, the entree arrived with no serving plates.. the food was average for the price, just got fish and chips no greens in either of our mains😕 then i try to call a couple of waiter/ess to please take an order for another glass of wine and they walk right passed me without even checking if we would like to refill our glasses, definitely will not be returning to this restaurant priced Cafe...Bad all round..

Island Market is the new restaurant right on the beach at Trigg. Situated in the building that used to be Kailis fish cafe, and Trigg Island Cafe before that, it has had a makeover inside. Pastel colours, trees and a lofty airy feel, it still has the great view over the ocean – ideal for romantic sunset dinners.

I appreciate the efforts gone to accomodate to our dietary requirements of vegan but the price and overall taste and quality was not worth it. I shared the falafel tray and a berry smoothie for $26.

The falafels were lacking seasoning and some were not cooked all the way through in the middle so they were soggy. The same with the sweet potatoes some were still firm and there really wasn’t much seasoning we could taste beside the balsamic glaze.

Sadly we couldn’t even finish the meal and I’m guessing they use frozen raspberries for the smoothie because there were so many seeds in it.

However the view is delightful and there is a beautiful sea breeze flowing in. The girl that served us was friendly and helpful so I do appreciate her service.

Visited here for breakfast this morning and was bitterly disappointed by the quality of food and the fact that it was grossly overpriced. For around $23 at other restaurants you can receive a full breakfast. Island Market Trigg charged $21 for two (not) toasted pieces of soggy bread, one poached egg, and what was supposed to be capsicum and feta with smashed avocado but was instead a very small amount of sloppy, brownish/green avocado with a few tiny flecks of red and no feta in sight. (Assuming it was smashed into the soggy mess on my soggy ‘toast’.) When I enquired with a waitress why I had only received one poached egg she said that’s all it comes with! My total bill was $27 which means my cappuccino was $6. Worst breakfast ever. Will never visit again 👎 👎 👎

It’s a weird mix of things, Island Market. Such a casual name, it could be a grocery store, and there is a buzz of activity, an outdoor area where people come in and order drinks at the bar, which is inside. We came on a Saturday night at 6.45pm and it was packed, and it was the perfect time to come and watch the sunset.

The room is big and open, with booths, like an American diner. Large jars of picked vegetables above the bar for decoration. A woodfire stove in the middle of the room which they apparently turn on in winter. And then the view. Well. It’s absolutely beautiful to watch the sun set over the ocean, and a whole wall of windows takes advantage of this. So, it’s a mix: sort of classy, sort of casual, a beachside restaurant that you could find anywhere in the world, with reasonably priced cocktails and wine, and a really quite interesting food menu.

We split some starters, some pita bread with labneh, taramasalata (delicious and creamy but not pink, like I’m used to) and a highlight, some local sardines that came in a tin. Eight king prawns, deep-fried in a savoury batter, were nice enough, 8 of them, which was appropriate for the four of us, though at $30, it seemed pricy. The corn on a cob with chipotle mayo was delicious, and I quite liked the t-bone steak, served quite rare, with some grilled mushrooms. And while I was thinking that the dishes were expensive for what you got, with two drinks a person, three starters and two mains, and a vegetable (they forgot to bring one of the mains, the kingfish crude), it was something like $220, which in the end I thought was quite cheap indeed.

The service was friendly but a bit all over the place. I think we had five different waiters! In any case, would I come in? Yes. Absolutely. And I’d recommend it to others too.

We ordered the wood roasted lamb shoulder for 2 people which was a very disappointing meal especially as we paid $99!!! For this price all we got was thinly sliced lamb shoulder and roasted potatoes. The lamb had lots of fatty parts which were inedible and required a lot of picking through to find decent pieces. Honestly for this price it wasn't worth it and lacked flavour.

On the plus side, the waitress was extremely helpful and friendly.

A place you'll visit once. Food is OK, price not so much. The views are great, so if thats what you're into, you'll be happy. Great selection of beer on tap but you gotta pay A LOT! Same with wine, sweet Jeezus its expensive! Custard tarts are 10/10

We have been here a few times over the years being a Scarborough local, mainly because the view is amazing, last night will be the last.

We arrived and had cocktails (weak, small and overpriced!)
And some ‘pita’ and labneh. $6 for two bit if bread is just ridiculous !

We then moved into dinner and due to having a party of 11 people opted for the ‘feast’ menu. A feast it wasn’t.

After the very small entree (beetroot dip and half a bit of pita) we moved into the “mains” which were one plate between FIVE people and just really poor quality.
There was a cuttlefish dish that was so dry and tasteless. Terrible.

The menu included a dessert but as it was a birthday celebration we had bought a cake. Would allow another entree but had to sub out the whole dessert for ‘cakage’ so $55 per head for one dessert and three terrible mains !!

Service was ok, but only by the two lovely blonde girls who served us, the other gentleman ignored us mainly and we had to get up to order things etc!

Whilst the view is pretty, I’d rather enjoy it from Canteen and pay $20 than dine at this overpriced mess again. Not impressed.

Revolting coffee. Threw it straight in the bin. Dined here for lunch, they were accommodating for allergies. Good kids area inside but it got really warm and stuffy.

Food was fine- nice meal choices but nothing was delicious.

The worst was coffee. Decided to get a takeaway after a long lunch. It was REVOLTING. Burnt, hot, acrid, gross. I took a sip and it went straight into the first bin outside the restaurant. What a waste of money, what a disgusting let down.

My friend and I had breakfast at Island Market Trigg today and wished we had gone somewhere else. We were so shocked at the rude attitude from the waitress which ruined the experience completely. Both our meals were just ok, quite bland, definately nothing to be excited about.
Eat Play Live Melbourne
Saturday morning we managed to get a table straight away and the staff were friendly, greeted us with a smile.
The breakfast menu had some good options and they catered for gluten free. Not cheap, but it is a fantastic location with parking and an ocean view.
The meals didn't take too long to come out an the coffee was very good. Unfortunately the service was not up to scratch. We didn't get offered second coffees or drinks and they pretty much ignored us once we'd had our meals delivered. We had to go to the bar to ask if we could order more coffee and flag someone down to clear our plates. They did however ask us to pay the bill and leave so that they could clear up for the lunch service :( The restaurant was pretty much empty at this stage.

The kitchen closes between 11-12.30 and you can't order a meal at all! Apparently this is because they need to 'refresh' the kitchen before lunch. I don't understand really what that means, as so many other venues offer an 'all day menu' covering breakfast and lunch dishes through to the afternoon. Heaven forbid you're a tourist or shift worker who wants to get eggs at 11.30am on a Saturday!
Jasmackandherpack
I’ve given this place a few shots. Firstly is way over priced for the quality of product they deliver. Secondly their service is terrible. They are grossly understaffed meaning from seating to ordering drinks you either order straight away or wait the 30 mins it takes everyone using the same two wait people. I contacted the owner force twitch feedback - per their follow up email and returned a month later but still no where near on par for what they should be doing there!
Debbie Jackson
Very disappointing... SHOCKING prices for well below average food. Loud “music”. Dirty in general, especially the toilets where you can’t hear yourself think! And..... sorry folks.. the pink decor is in poor taste. Lovely location but we certainly won’t be back.
Bee
Hubby and I had breakfast here this morning. I had the smashed avo and hubby had the Persian scrambled eggs. It was absolutely delicious. Probably the best smashed avo I’ve ever had. Serving size was adequate however it was a bit odd it only comes with one poached egg.
Coffee was lovely however it could have been a bit hotter.
Gorgeous looking interior as well. We’ll definitely be back for breakfast.
Jess
Food and atmosphere was great! Service was non existent. The waitress at the counter today was rude when we were leaving so pretty much ruined the whole experience.
Mel Beale
Unfortunately can't say it was a good experience, for the owners sake I hope it was just a bad day, and this isn't the usual quality of service. Unsure how or why the front of house guy is in the role, poorest customer service I've ever experienced. Not one smile or warm welcome.

Coffees took over 40 minutes to arrive, when they did arrive he said “cold” and put iced coffee down, and just put other coffees in the middle of the table (normally I would repeat the order back to the customers as to put the FW in front of the person who ordered it).

He brought the cake out without any cutlery, and only when we had to go ask for it asked why we wanted a spoon.

When a waiter cleared the table no “excuse me” or asking whether we'd finished with the food, just took the plates away.

I will give credit to one of the female waitresses who was delightful and the only positive thing I can say about the experience to the restaurant.

Wouldn't go back and most definitely wouldn't recommend. Just a shame a place with such an incredible view has such poor customer service, slow service time on a quietish day and average prices.
ITSFOODNET
Such a gorgeous spot for an afternoon nibble and a glass of wine with friends but service is not upto the mark. Food was good, wine was good, view was awesome.

Great spot to watch the sun set. Cute fitout with pastel colours. We shared the baba ganoush, falafel and pita bread (served warm). All delicious. I had a water the garden cocktail & my friend had the spritz. Cost was $24 each. Not bad for a drink & snack.
Jess
Overpriced for what you get. Spent around $65 on food for 2 people and we were both hungry afterwards. Add on drinks (non-alcoholic) and that’s $80 gone and you’re left with an empty stomach. Food was ok, nice atmosphere and staff. Glad to have tried it, however not worth the trip back.
NikB
The food is decent if not a tad overpriced, portion sizes are expectedly small. The fit-out, atmosphere and views are great - this is what you're really paying for. Service ok in terms of wait-staff, but last weekend the manager on duty was rude and condescending to our party. Spoke to us like we were children, chastised us for not realising split billing wasn't allowed and had to calrify our dessert order - which is fine - but she was abrasive about it. Customer service goes a long way.
Andrew.charleson64
Share dishes are quite good but the let down is the high price on wine. Knock the price in half and they will have a lot more people buying a second bottle
Benn Blakeley
Service needs improvement, not overly friendly, didnt care to check that our booking was for a Birthday (as noted) a simple Happy Birthday would have been nice, otherwise whats the point of the note when you book?
Were left for 15 minutes after sitting (wasnt overly busy) - probably would have had more staff on.
Drinks (Cocktails) came well after food (were half way through)
Food was quite nice, not worth the price tbh.
Beautiful location and aesthetics!
MajaB
Service is possibly the worst in Perth. Food is rubbish and overpriced. Do not recommend, plenty of other places to eat in Perth that actually serve quality food. Should of left straight away after our encounter with the very unpleasant waitress Carley.
Frosty29
Extremely good food! Its a perfect local cafe for a catch up with an ocean view! The food was great and didn’t take too long to come. I would have preferred if they made their own juices instead of bought but would go back again.
Caturday
We went along to this bright, airy, pretty space. Service was quick and very friendly, no complaints on our end. Ordered the eggplant fritters ($16.50), calamari with aioli ($21.50), roast duck with quince ($35.00) and pita bread with hummus ($6.00+$5.00).

Positives: food was generally well cooked. The eggplant fritters were creamy yet crispy, not burnt and had a lovely sauce underneath. And huge, as you can tell by the picture. The calamari wasn’t overcooked, nice and tender and crisp. The aioli was ok. The duck was also well cooked but I wish the skin was a bit more crisp, and the fat could’ve been rendered more. The pita and hummus was pretty standard, nothing special.

Negatives: portion size for the price. I get that it’s prime beachfront location, and it’s a nice fitout. I just guess I’m still of the school of thought that there should be value for money. I doubt there was a full duck breast there, only about half. And we could’ve gotten a similar-sized calamari dish at yumcha for $8.00 and better hummus at the Hummus Club with mushrooms or meat on top for a couple dollars more. We were still peckish after we left (3 of us), which was a bit sad for $84. Ah well. We’ll probably not come back until there’s a special occasion.

We phoned to book a table earlier that day. We arrived on time and were shown to our seats looking out over the beach. Chairs are pastel wooden ones at a bench top. Water and menus were brought over straight away. My dining companion and I stated with baba ganoush, pita and olives with pickled vegetables. The pita was warm and arrived in a little pizza box. Our drinks were sparkling wine and a cocktail called ‘ Dirty Cola’
The following three plates we shared- Smokey calamari with aoli, prawns bbq with caponata and cos lettuce salad with radish and crunchy walnuts.
All were delicious and presented beautifully on the plates. No room for dessert but we did have another drink each before getting the bill. Lovely bar area and fireplace in the centre of the restaurant which I assume gets fired up when it’s winter.
Rebecca Brown
Lunch with a friend, we got an adjacent window seat - amazing view on a very still afternoon. Initial service not so friendly, but our table waitress was amazing. There were three varieties of wine which I was unsure of, the waitress was well versed in the three and offered me a tasting of two before I decided. We ordered three dishes - calamari, kingfish and mussels. All amazing and faultless. Waitress was very attentive through our meal. It’s not super cheap, but definitely worth it. Will definitely be back.
Some Like It Hot
Two of us went for lunch and we were seated at the window. Nice view but it does limit space for sharing plates. Had 3 share plates and two glasses of white. Bill came to $108 so not a cheap eat. The first dish that came out was the pork belly followed closely by the grilled market fish. The pork is a winning dish, really well cooked and good flavour. The fish was well cooked but I didn’t like the flavour of the spices much. After we finished both dishes we finally got our plate of cauliflower. Really strange to be served this last and on its own, and it was very average. Would have been better as an accompaniment to the other dishes. Nice venue but wouldn’t rush back.

Location: A+
Ambience: A
Food: B+
Service: F

Cute, stylish looking restaurant in a beautiful spot right next to the beach. I went for breakfast and the food was pretty tasty at an ok price point. The toast was really yum and the Turkish sausage pie was delicious. The service, however, was terrible. I’m pretty sure the person who served us was the manager, or at least he acted like it, as if he were better than everyone else. We had booked for 6 people, and the table wasn’t prepared. He seemed annoyed having to push together two tables to accommodate. There wasn’t many people in the restaurant, but it took forever for us to get his attention to take our orders. The food took twice as long to come out. We came for the pancakes and were told that the regular pancake were unavailable, but the kids pancakes are. So we asked for the kids pancakes (in possibly an adult serving for the regular pancake price) and were told we were too old and that he wouldn’t do it. He had a very stale attitude, didn’t smile once. To me, and to what I assume many, service definitely makes a restaurant and I’m sorry but I won’t be back to Island Market Trigg.
Friendly and simply stunningly good food we sat in the window and watched the sunset on a warm balmy evening with a great bottle of red wine
Bottomlesspit
To start the location is wonderful, right along the beach with great views and a blissful ambience. The service- friendly, fast and attentive. Lastly, the food. Wow, the cos lettuce salad was so delicious for something so simple and bothered the lamb and chicken pitas were so moorish and full of flavour. You could tell the pita was freshly cooked and not packet bought. Great place for lunch or dinner!
Shoey Kay
We walked in without a booking for a busy Sunday lunch, so did expect things to be a little hectic and some wait times. The food was great, and the beverage list was very broad, so that more than made up for it.
Portion sizes are very generous, food quality is top quality, you can tell the seafood is fresh. Clever, tasty dishes, though dare i say some of the portions too big! I would have preferred smaller portions to be able to try more dishes.
We did find that the eggplant fritters, was actually a whole eggplant cut into 4 wedges, which was a little off putting. Save this for a larger group dining together.
The semi freddo to finish was huge (i’m glad we shared), but superb.
$78 each for 4 shared dishes, a shared dessert, two gins, and two wines. Excellent value for money. Will definitely be back to try more.

This place is a winner. Good menu, which isn't overpriced - both for food and wine. Spot-on location with plenty of ocean and sunset views, good ambience and friendly staff.

We enjoyed a great evening watching the sunset over the beach whilst enjoying a bottle of rose and three share plates (three was enough!) The staff were helpful and attentive, there were no long wait times and the food was pretty darn tasty.

Recommend it in a heartbeat.

Beautiful Sunday lunch. Good food, Good atmosphere, Good service, Good view, Good choice of menu... Very creative and fancy.
Flate White was creamy and right temperature.
Pita Lamb was yummy.
King fish was beautiful and fresh.
Highly recommended.
Food_Glorious_Food
Dined here as a group of four for a Sunday lunch and really enjoyed the food & atmosphere. Menu is creative with a definite middle eastern influence and excellent for sharing (which we did). We ordered the grilled prawns (very good), cauliflower (delicious), fried eggplant, fish & chips, fresh baked pita with hummus and the avocado dip (all very tasty). The only dish we had that we didn’t like was the chicken wings which were very fatty and were undercooked. We finished off with the doughnut balls & ice cream to share - delicious. The location by the beach, the layout of the restaurant and the professional staff combined with great tasting and interesting food make this place a winner in my books. I will definitely be back.
Perth Foodaholic
Pictured: latkes, hot smoked salmon, sour cream, dill, capers $18.50 (add $3.50 for poached egg). Perth is known for their amazing beaches (even though I am not a beach person or Summer person, I can still appreciate its beauty). BUTTTT I do like Trigg beach purely because people bring their doggies there for walks and I loveeeee fur babies. On Australia Day, I decided to organise a catch up with my lovely old colleague who I have missed ever-so-dearly since she decided to abandon me for better things in life. Given it was a Public Holiday, we knew that our choices would be restricted however Instagram came to the rescue with a post from a fellow foodie with a list of places that would be open. Hooray!
Alex Goodwin
Stunning venue- good food- BUT, never before (& I’ve traveled a lot) have I pre-booked a table & then been told we have to sit at a narrow cramped counter - apparently myself & my son didn’t qualify for a proper table - very disappointing!

After asking again for my “booked” table I was rudely brushed off & told they wouldn’t move us, despite there being a number of empty tables available.

Suggestion to manager- make it clear on your website that booking a table actually means booking a seat at a narrow counter

Next time I book a lunch it will be at Odyssea or the Shorehouse- proper table guaranteed!

Eatingismyhobby
FINALLY a place by the beach which does good food (except Bib and Tucker). I’m so sick and tired of trying to find nice places to eat out by the beach but have the quality of food match the price (and view). This place delivers- and is reasonably priced for the quality. Such tasty flavour combinations- we had the octopus and the mussels. The mussels were to die for! I can’t wait to come back here and try more of their fare. Service was also very good, and of course, the view was top notch!
World Diner
The wait staff are the old Kailis crew, and are pleasant and generally very professional. Unfortunately the attempt to create a diverse mediterranean flavoured venue has fallen flat with me. We have tried both the breakfast and dinner menus, but alas they are not to my taste. Quite frankly there was not enough diversity to cater for people without "wanky" tastes.
El
Beautiful location but you're paying for it. I found the food to be very expensive but it WAS very good food so worth the splurge for a special occasion. It's very bright and open inside (lots of room to have a big group) and the staff are fun and nice.
I could have eaten 4 serves of the pita and dip and walked out of there very happy...that bread is divine! Feta Labneh dip was delicious.
The Eggplant was delicious and actually ended up being my favourite dish - they were slightly salted and cooked perfectly - still a little crunchy but also squishy.
Wood roasted duck is soft and tasty but also not amazing like the waiters were raving.
The wood roasted pineapple is interesting and worth the wait to give it a try but I wouldn't brag about it.

Minali Gamage
We got the best seats in the house with an amazing clear view of the ocean. Highly recommend as a date spot. The black rice was a standout. Can’t stop thinking about it. The pineapple dessert was a sight to behold. Had a great time here and staff were very fast and friendly even though it was packed.
Lunchalot
Amazing lunch and margaritas here today, loved the fried cauliflower with hommus and the falafel, tzatziki in pita bread.
Beautiful setting and such friendly, efficient staff.
CiderCraze
I’m the biggest fan! Been there twice so far and will keep going back. Can’t stop recommending this place to family and friends.
Everything is cooked to perfection, super flavoursome and did I mention you get a killer view too? Of the beautiful Trigg Beach.
Service is top notch, all smiles, very efficient and attentive.
So do yourself a favour and go there for some delicious dishes.
Chelsea
Amazing location, decor is perfect, staff are excellent, very friendly and approachable. Pita was delicious! Good drinks selection. Menu was good. Had calamari, delicious, chicken wings, they were average and cos salad, very yummy. Would recommend, but probably wouldn’t return
FineDiners
We had lunch here and we loved it. Loved the food, the cocktail and the atmosphere, not to mention the view as well.

We shared the fried cauliflower, the shredded cos, and the Island pav dessert. It was light but very tasty, the flavours were great. The pav dessert was just as good, it definitely finished off the meal nicely. We had the Island Market Spritz and that was a great cocktail. Would love to try some of their other cocktails.

We had great weather and the view accompanied it perfectly.
Sandy Meacham
Very disappointing. Servings insufficient for a dinner with no sides other than chips. Children not catered for at all. Certainly won’t be returning or recommending to anyone.
Perth Munchkin
Island Market Trigg is a stunningly refurbed venue along the WA Coast. It is everything right about beachside dining. In its previous lives it was Trigg Island Cafe, then more recently Kailis Trigg. Now, still owned by the Kailis crew, they decided to change the feel of the place and on the food front they enlisted the services of superstar chef David Coomer of Star Anise, Pata Negra and Fuyu fame. He’s helped shaped their new menu with the very able assistance of Chef Sunny de Ocampo, previously from Apple Daily (a consistent favourite of mine). By their powers combined they’d developed a creative menu with a distinct Spanish flair to the flavours.

Came here with a friend for dinner mid week. The restaurant was steadily busy. Service was prompt and friendly. I had the mussels, which were fresh, tasty and spicy.
Alicia
Visited with family a few weeks ago and can't wait to come back! The menu here has a Mediterranean feel and there are cocktails in abundance. The atmosphere is buzzing and it's great to be there on a sunny day. I ordered a lamb pita and was not disappointed. Most of the dishes are designed for sharing but the flat breads and dip are to die for! Looking forward to spending a long lunch here over the summer break!

12 of us went for dinner on Saturday and we all really enjoyed our meal. Beautiful location by the ocean, lots of natural light comes in through the big windows facing the water. Wait staff were all very friendly and helpful. All the food was delicious. Will come back :)
Bebe
Went there today Sunday 10 dec and had Octopus with chorizos and artichoke, it was a good looking dish and the flavour was great. The battered Barramundis on the fish and chips dish were very fresh and crunchy but shame the chips were cold, soft and tasteless as well as the sauce. Anyway, I will definitely go back there to try other dishes which I already have my eyes on.
The Chefs Wife
Just a few years ago, Perth was lacking in quality dining venues by the beach. Now we are positively spoilt for choice! Up and down the coast are restaurants worth booking a table at, where the food is as fine as the view. Think Odyssea, Bib and Tucker, Shorehouse and now there’s a newbie to add to the list – Island Market.
Foodlover
We really enjoyed our lunch at Island Market Trigg - we sat on the front window facing the beach and it was rather dreamy. The service we received was top notch and the food was delicious. We had the Fried Cauliflower, Grilled Ranger Valley skirt steak and Pita with feta labneh and thoroughly enjoyed all of these dishes. I had a couple of cocktails (G & T Bazaar & Island Market Spritz) which were beautifully presented and overall we were very happy and will definitely come back again.
Jemma Cauchi
Hubby and I came here for dinner on a Saturday night and were seated at the bench along the front windows which face the ocean. Perfect spot! We could people watch and wait for the gorgeous sunset which didn't disappoint. Unfortunately that's probably the best thing this restaurant has going for it. Don't get me wrong the food was good. But it wasn't great. No stand out dishes. We enjoyed a cocktail each and then ordered two dishes to start - we shared the Kingfish crudo and BBQ octopus. Both very pleasant and fresh. We had a bit of a rest then shared the squid and pork belly. The squid was very chewy. I love squid and my husband pokes fun at me because I pretty much order it everywhere I go so like to think of myself as a squid expert but this one was disappointing. We enjoyed a lovely bottle of sparkling rose and the staff were really nice. They were very busy and a long time between courses but we didn't mind that as happy to enjoy a leisurely dinner. So a pleasant enough experience but the food isn't anything to rave about in our book. But a lovely spot in summer.

Went for breakfast. Food was delish and well priced.
We had the smash avo and tomato / poached eggs dish. Loved the vibe, view and food. We had a funky older male waiter, he was the bees knee’s.

A group of three went to lunch on a Sunday - which, granted, was a busy time. Our order was taken in a reasonable time, but we waited 45 minutes for our food to arrive! During this time the staff did not even check on us, or ask us if we wanted another drink etc. Many tables of people came in to the restaurant afterwards who then ordered food and received their food during this time. We only complained when we saw the same dishes we had ordered going to another table who came in after us. The staff were not at all apologetic.

Chilled out, open and welcoming atmosphere with a great view of the beach. Food was fantastic and they had good range of cocktails. In particular, the oysters were very fresh and the cinnamon donuts were super fluffy. Service was attentive and friendly. Definitely will be coming back.

Came here for brunch over the weekend. Fantastic view. Menu was fairly straightforward but had a few interesting items. It states on the menu no alterations and I can respect that. The pide was quite delicious. Their bacon looks amazing, but the skin left on is slightly poorly prepared so it end up tough and...

Easy access, great online reservation system, friendly prompt greeting, perfect table with views (as are all tables here) savy waiter Sam, young Frenchman with a shortened name but Big personality and excellent food and wine knowledge presented in a quick, casual and no fuss manner. The dishes we tried were all perfectly executed and lived up to the promise from the succinct yet difficult to choose from menu. This place is text book yet very casual and welcoming, love it xx

Nice view! That was it. Went for breakfast with friends. Chef refuses to alter, in any way, the dishes on the menu. We were there for breakfast. One person only wanted mushrooms and eggs. After getting over the fact the chef wouldn’t make this ( pretty basic ) he ordered a side of 2 eggs and a side of mushrooms. Delivered in three separate bowls on a plate. FFS
I’m sorry but not making simple food for a paying customer is the fastest way to ensure no return visits. Pretentious pretty much says it all. Oh and the wait staff are aloof and not at all friendly. Seriously how hard is it to be pleasant!

Came here last Sunday for lunch with a group of 5. Service was prompt and friendly. Ocean views divine. Food is on-trend share plates which is a great way to try a few dishes. The dips and pita bread are definitely worth ordering and the various share plates that came after were fresh and well presented - standouts for me were the calamari with lemon aioli which was perfectly cooked and really delicious as was the fried cauliflower. After we'd finished eating, table had been cleared and we were contemplating our capability of squeezing in desert, we realised one of the dishes ordered had not been served. Before I could cancel it the dish arrived and I truly wish it hadn't. We were left with a bad taste in our mouths after trying the BBQ tiger prawns with coriander relish. Both prawns and relish were horrible - I think we were all concerned we may get upset stomachs (we didn't). Another negative was the music - loud and thumping - felt like I was at a Sunday sesh not lunch with friends. When we asked if it could be turned down a notch we were informed "the owner likes it like that" so no. Perhaps it's a strategy to stop people lingering after their meals so they can increase turnover? Popped into Canteen afterwards and their music had a nice upbeat jazzy vibe - as both venues are operated by Kailis I can only say "the owner" should give this some thought. We can't be the only ones to have complained, although this is Perth and we silently demonstrate unhappiness with our non-return. Lastly and still on the subject of ambience the dress code for Island Market is definitely cas' as in feel comfortable rocking up from the beach in your boardies and thongs. Add a few beers and I'd say you may even enjoy the music!

OMG amazing!! We ordered the black rice cuttlefish and the island pita with taramostala (sorry can't spell!) and hummus. Highly recommend the dips and the soft pita. Black rice was a great combo with the aioli.
Queen Of Bad Timing
The food definitely has some nods to the Chef's time at Pata Negra, with a Mediterranean come Middle Eastern approach to flavours and preparation. The menu is designed to share, and I like that there’s plenty of variety in terms of proteins used.

We really enjoyed this restaurant. I thought I had booked but realised I hadn’t and they managed to accommodate us on a busy night. We really enjoyed the labneh and hummus to start. We had the octopus which was really good too. Very flavoursome and would definitely come back.

This venue doesn't know what it's trying to be, decor was a weird mix, music was pub loud though the food itself was OK. Miss the old Trigg, at least it had a good atmosphere.

We went here last Sunday for lunch (group of 7) was really happy with food, the hummus was life changing and everthing that came out had huge amounts of flavour! The cocktails were delicious, however the service was average.. our plates were not cleared for ages and the waitstaff didn't ask us for new drinks.. it was a full house though so understand staff were busy! Will come here again! Decor was done really nicely this a casual beach coast vibe!
