The staff are friendly, the venue is no frills and great for families. Mac and Cheese is delish, Dirty Fries is a winner, the burgers are big and tasty. Bbq and hot sauce are nice too.
Our group ordered some of the $60 platters, which were a generous serving, well cooked meat, comes with two sides, the only downside was that is tasted like all the meats had the same spice rub, so everything tasted the same.
I lived in Austin for a long time and really miss Central Texas BBQ. Frank's is authentic as it comes outside of Texas! It's a very faithful tribute to Rudy's, one of the Mainstays of Texas BBQ, and does a great job. The brisket was fantastic and they have the best Texas sausage reproduction I've had.
It's great to see a place being so faithful to Austin, including wax paper, white bread, iced tea, take-home cups, and pickles & onions, despite getting the occasional negative review from people who don't get how authentic this is.
Please keep this up, it made me homesick for Texas!
When we went to Houston, Texas, we deliberately visited a Texan barbecue restaurant to see if our local restaurant, Frank's, is authentic. We can absolutely say that even though the range of offerings wasn't as big as the restaurant we went to, Frank's does serve very authentic Texan barbecue, complete with soda fountain with iced tea, complementary pickles and onions, and sliced bread. The only thing that was very different was that the pecan pie in Houston was much softer on the inside, but you go to a smokehouse for barbecue, not pecan pie. Added to that is the atmosphere of this restaurant. Everytime I go there, especially in the coolness of winter, I forget that I'm in my neighbourhood in Victoria Park. I keep feeling I'm back in Houston, although maybe that's just me. One of the things that popped out about this restaurant is also how friendly and helpful the staff is, from the moment you walk in until the moment you leave. Definitely recommended.
Taken a while for me to visit this place on the strip in Vic Park but will be coming more often now. Good value and great service. It's a fun place. Sitting outside on a big wooden bench table on a warm evening, you order drinks from the bar and food from the canteen. The drinks are simple range of whites and reds and a good range of beers. It's not really a place for 'foodies' as such but the food is real good. Comes out in a box and on paper with plastic cutlery. The brisket was tender and flavorsome. The sausage spicy and excellent. The pulled pork was pulled pork - a little bland but OK. And the beer can chicken really good. Sides are excellent too. I would suggest getting 100g of each of the meats and sharing with one or two. Again, a good fun place which will not remain a secret for much longer.
What a gem! Tasty, tender brisket and ribs, lovely sides and drinks at very reasonable prices. Service is friendly and the old car-yard is a perfect setting for this kind of restaurant. Love it!
Frank's is very no-frills, quick service Texas BBQ, the kind you'd get an authentic joint in the States. You can order your meat by weight, so you can try a bit of everything if you want to. The lean brisket was really tender and the sausage had a lot of flavour. The pulled pork was probably my least favourite as the char flavour was too strong for me.
Service was really friendly - we were greeted immediately and they explained how ordering works. We were well taken-care-of!
Look at the menu and pictures before you go. It is NO FRILLS, so don't be upset that they give you sliced bread (at no extra cost) or that you eat out of grease-proof paper. If you know what to expect, you won't be disappointed. I certainly haven't been to a BBQ joint like it in Perth!

Hands down this is one of my favorite restaurant in town!!! So many awesome things, but at the top would be its moist brisket!! The best one ever! The moist brisket is so juicy, thick, soft and delicious! It literally melts in your mouth it is sooo gooodd!! You have to come early before it is sold out though!! Apart from the moist brisket, the ribs and the chilli frank sausage would be my next choice!
Frank’s is also unique you can choose as much as you want as you pay the meat by the weight. You can have 100gram or 138gram or whatever amount you wish! The sauce is also very authentic and a perfect combo with all the meat!
In addition, they also have great range of side dishes such as coleslaw. My personal favorites are mac and cheese and baked beans!
To top it off, they offer free bread to accompany your meat, free pickles, free onion, and refillable drinks!! The sauce is free too you can get as much as you want! What else do u want!! Haha..
oh and they also have nice range of delicious homemade cake for dessert. Pecan pie is my favorite!!
Frank’s bbq is a hugh place with plenty seatings both inside and outside allowing big gatherings easily. Staffs are also very friendly and polite!
The best beef brisket I have ever eaten. We got 200grams of beef brisket and a half rack of pork ribs (also great) with one side between two of us and it was the perfect amount of food to leave us feeling pleasantly full. The atmosphere feels authentic and I can’t fault anything. Will definitely be going back.
Great food, top location, good atmosphere.. summer is going to heat up at this place with live entertainment promised and affordable drink prices. The owner seems like a top bloke and welcoming host. I think he said he learnt the trade in Texas.. so cant get better than that!

Great Texan atmosphere! Great place to hang out with mates, big place and so cosy. They serve great American ribs, delicious smokey beans and cheesy mac and cheese. Beef brisket is served per grams, Yum!
A very laid back and relaxed restaurant without indoor and outdoor bench seating serving American BBQ classics.
The food was ok. The sides were good, but the meat we ordered was generally a bit dry and as a result seemed a bit tasteless and made me feel it needed sauce to improve it. The lunch deal meat we got unfortunately didn't include the moist brisket option as they ran out nor the ribs which could have made the meal more enjoyable. Instead we got chicken, regular brisket, pulled pork and sausage.
The venue and concept is great, and the food is good but I've had better American BBQ.
Everything is delicious! Perfect amount of smoke and the best loaded fries I have ever had. The place is a bit rustic, but you come here for the meat not the ambience or plateware.
Heaven on Earth. The sweet smell and sweet sound of blues eases the soul. We are beyond hooked on Frank's mouth watering meat!
This place puts you down to Earth with its humble warming vibe.

Very affordable $$ for the Aussie Battler
I am so happy we accidentally stumbled across this place tonight because it was absolutely fantastic in every way. The vibe is super cool and fun, the staff were really friendly and laid back and the food was surprisingly good. I generally steer clear of this kind of food because it’s so often just over the top greasy, sweet, cheesy etc but we tried quite a few things off the menu here and they were all really well balanced and full of great flavour. We enjoyed everything we tried but the nachos were sensational and the wings were also really top notch. I don’t have a single complaint about this place and can’t wait to come back again.
Frank’s Texas smoke house is a MUST GO! We ordered a Frank’s original burger and some dirty fries, accompanied by margaritas, best lunch I’ve had in ages!
I don’t think I’ve ever had food cleaned off my plate so fast! The Burger was incredible! Just go try it yourself and you’ll see what I mean.
After eating the dirty fries I’m convinced there is no other way to eat them now, topped off with a tasty and refreshing margarita!
Quick service and friendly staff, we can’t wait for our next visit!
Good bbq, there's also burgers and sandwiches. Serve alcohol drinks, friendly service, relaxing and spacious surroundings. Reasonable price for the food.
Plenty of space. Food is tasty and staff are friendly. $65 sample platter is definitely good value. Highly recommended.
