Review Magpies Nest Restaurant - Wagga Wagga

We had our wedding at Magpies Nest in March and had the most amazing experience! Hayley and her staff were professional and accommodating, and made the day much less stressful than we expected a wedding to be. From our first meeting with Hayley, it was clear she had a thorough understanding of how to cater events. She effortlessly pivoted anytime we wanted to make changes to our timeline of the day (and her suggestions were often better than ours!). The attention to detail from the staff to our guests was phenomenal and many of our friends/family are still raving about our choice of venue. Honestly, if I could give more than 5/5 stars to Magpies Nest I would. Thank you!

This is a treasure that is worth looking for. Just out of Wagga Wagga near the university is this special dining experience. There is a limited menu with four choices of main and four for dessert. However, along with the homely baked bread and olive oil with dukķa for appetiser and delicious entree selection, every main dish is special and fabulous. Noone in our party was disappointed. The staff are attentive and friendly. The wines and cocktails are worth splurging on - especially as this extraordinary meal is just $60 per head. It is perfect for that special occasion, or just to spoil yourself and the one/those you love.

Main was pretty good. I think the waitress we had could be bit more on the ball. Checking in more often for drinks and making sure each course comes out in timely manner.

A 3 course set menu that stands and surprises from entree to dessert. Bountiful exquisite flavours and harmonious blend of fresh herbs and spices. Perfectly prepared and delivered to a culinary delight. Thankyou chef

(4.5 stars) Late afternoon light paints the stone walls of this former 1860s stable a glowing orange. It streams into the glass-fronted dining room, where (very) well-spaced tables give you the airspace to completely focus on your own conversation. A bubbly floor team explain how the ($60/head) all inclusive menu works, while we neck jalapeño margaritas ($19/each). As Wagga Wagga’s premier wedding venue, the kitchen have evolved a formula that allows them to serve a lot of people fast. Entrees are set - extraordinary salad greens and tomatoes from the garden, a generous portion of bread oil and dukkah, then a plate of hot canapés. Each item—smoked trout croquettes made with four types of cheese garnished with pickled ginger; kangaroo kofte and puff pastry tarts with darkly caramelised onion jam—punches flavour. Mains you get to select yourself. The Riverina lamb rack is evenly cooked with a juicy pink interior, and a surprisingly good sweet potato. Crisp cabbage roesti is the star of the chicken supreme, accompanied by sticky chickpeas and spinach gomae—a Japanese-inspired sesame treatment. A bowl of garden-fresh cooked vegetables is equally as compelling as the mains. Dessert isn’t my favourite course, but I liked the burnt butter peach that came with the panna cotta. I found the orange blossom flavouring, mulled wine syrup, edible flowers and gingerbread crumble to be overkill. For a $6/cheese add-on we tried three local cheeses on a well-presented cheese board, prompting a drive to Coolamon cheese the next day. Local produce and careful cooking makes Magpies Nest Restaurant a winner whether you’re here for a wedding or for a romantic dinner for two and a twilight stroll through the grounds to take in the sunset.

Firstly, the service here is rivalled by no other restaurant I've visited in Wagga, and we've done them all. My only regret is that in the 25 years I've lived here, this was our first visit. It absolutely won't be our last! The Magpies Nest is Wagga's hidden gem, and if you haven't visited yet you are doing yourself a great disservice. The staff ensured tonight was not merely a delicious dinner but also an experience - even in the busy Christmas period service was prompt and extremely friendly. One of the best bits is that much of the produce is sourced from the grounds where you wine and dine. I booked our dinner as a Xmas present for my parents and it could not have been more perfect. Ingrid serviced our table and could not be commended more highly - she was very attentive and genuine. We sat outside overlooking the olive trees and a fucia sunset - what a picturesque setting! The menu was set, and for $55 it is incredible value! The first course was an entree with sour dough and olives made/grown on-site, and delicious hot horsderves - chorizo and roast beet skewers, and the duck and apple spring rolls were a hit! We chose the lamb, pork and chicken mains - I could have licked my plate clean. And the desserts were a work of art! We chose the baked berry cheese cake and lemon tart, and although they looked too good to eat, we made light work of them. There's an option still for those lacking a sweet tooth - Dad had the cheese platter with a shot of port. There is a comprehensive drinks menu, also. We will be raving about our experience for a good while.

My husband and I got married at Magpies Nest 3 days ago. We chose the Magpies Nest because of the great food we had eaten on previous occasions and it didn't disappoint last weekend either. There were many comments on the great food and just as many about the fantastic setting. Hayley, the Magpies Nest's wedding coordinator did a wonderful job and made our planning so much easier and stress free. We cannot recommend the Magpies Nest as a wedding venue highly enough.

Magpies Nest is perfect if you’re looking for a high quality, hassle free wedding venue all at one beautiful location. The food was top notch. Absolutely faultless service and excellent organisation throughout the whole process. Hayley went above and beyond our expectations and we cannot recommend her and their team highly enough.

My husband and I went here for dinner last night. We haven’t stopped telling people about it yet! It was the best meal we have both ever had anywhere. We honestly could not fault anything about any of the courses and there was 5. We were most upset with our selves for never eating there before last night. Now we have we will be back!

Where to begin, there are no words to describe my appreciation to Hayley and her amazing team!!! We picked Magpies for our wedding, not for the mouth watering food, the breath taking views, or the efficient and helpful staff, it was HAYLEY!!!! She took care of everything, absolutely EVERYTHING!! Being from out of town I was out of my element but she made everything incredibly simple and easy. She took my designs and made our dream wedding a reality!!! It was an unforgettable night for all the right reasons!! Thank you Hayley, we so grateful to you xoxo

I just wanted to get a chance to thank the Magpies Nest for all the hard work & effort Hayley & her team put into our wedding. What really stood out were the comments from our guests saying how fantastic the service was & the staff were very efficient & friendly. Everything ran smoothly - I had no worries about the day as I knew our wedding day was in great hands with Hayley's management. Every meal, from the canapes to the mains & desserts were a hit, with an incredible variety to choose from, including all supplementary meals for guests with special dietary requirements. We cannot wait to be back for dinner soon & we will never forget our wedding ceremony & reception held at such a stunning venue & restaurant. Thank you again, Hayley & the team at Magpies Nest. You all really made the night fantastic & unforgettable. Laura & Jono

I attended a wedding at Magpies Nest on the weekend (15/10/17) and not only was it an amazing venue which was set up absolutely beautifully, all the canapés were delicious, hot and constant, as were the drinks. The dinner and dessert which followed was equally as great and the service continued to be top notch all night, especially Ingrid and Caitlyn! Thankyou :)

We were pretty sure before, but now we're convinced. The food was amazing, the service attentive and efficient, and the bar staff accommodating and inventive. We don't want to have our wedding anywhere else!

Had dinner out there tonight for our wedding anniversary and was absolutely beautiful! Our waitress Carly was very professional and very polite and made sure everything was to our satisfaction, as a matter of fact all the waitresses that we came in contact with were very pleasant. Would definitely recommend!!
