My partners family and I have been going to Joe's Thai Food for years. Joe, the owner has been serving up Thai food in Canberra for more than 15 years. The decor is simple but the food is delicious and we always go back for more. We don't even live near the restaurant but we don't mind driving their because we enjoy the food so much.
Wow amazing flavors , amazing staff , very hospitable , food 10/10 Iron chef JOE knows his thai food superb. Was an amazing experience . Highly recommended
I took my 3 daughters out for dinner at Joe's Thai last night and had a brilliant night. Food was delicious (we had Banquet 2) with more than enough, the staff were brilliant and I met Joe who was very humble about my praise for our whole experience. Excellent!
I had an opportunity to get take-away from Joe's Thai on 4 July 2015, and it lived up to expectations. Husband was very happy with his Massaman, Kid was very happy with the Spring Rolls (they looked fresh, and a good size), and there is a Special Fried Rlice as yet untouched (we got it just in case Kid needed more). The fried rice is presented beautifully, even in the plastic container, with two overlapping pieces of cucumber on top of the rice. All the food was still piping hot when we got it home.
I ordered The Drunken Noodle Stir-Fry (beef), which was delicious, and so hot it made my tongue itchy. Nothing wrong with that. About 2/3 of the way through, I needed a break from the chilli (and I'm no chilli lightweight), or I was full (plenty of beef in those noodles), because I put the rest away for the next day.
The only problem with this dish, and it might not have been a problem for most people, was that there were a couple of clumps of chicken fat in it, stir-fried with the beef. Maybe it was in there for the flavour, but I'm more of a texture person, and I don't like chicken, so I went through the dish with a fork finding all the chicken fat. It turned out there were only two large clumps, and numerous small pieces of chicken fat or meat (too small to bother identifying it or taking it out).
Otherwise, the price was good and the wait time was 15 minutes or less (just before 6pm on a Saturday night). When I went to pick it up, the server was engaging, and the restaurant looked fabulous with colourful lotus flower candle-holders and red and yellow lotus flower-folded paper napkins decorating the tables.
Awesome meals and prices. I typically don't like Thai food in Canberra because it is too sweet or too oily. At Joe's actually cooks spicy and tasty. My recommendation are crocodile with 5 spices, seasoned duck, crispy pork with Chinese broccoli and crispy crab with green pepper corn. Prices were average to cheap. Staff were friendly. Absolutely be back!!!
Delicious food & best of all Affordable!!. Joe did a great job of feeding us 8 hungry people the other night with his almighty Snapper! it was huge! All of us were satisfied, this was our first time and would definitely see you again Joe!!
Love it!. Regularly goes to Joe and always end up having the same great food and service! They have been really busy lately so its a good idea to book and get in early, especially because Joe does all cooking :O He also comes out and talk to us when its not busy, which is really nice. The food is not pricey either, best Thai in Canberra!
Janinembaum. The food is wonderful. Very fresh and full of flavour. I was disappointed to see anything other than an excellent review as this restaurant gives fantastic service, quality food at a fantastic price.
Wow! Very popular place and understandably why. Joe can cook real Thai style and knows how to use the right spices! The chili is real and dishes authentic. Hands down, a lovely decor with excellent service. Very hard to beat!
Excellent Bang for Buck. Went to Joes Thai Food Restaurant tonight.
Authentic thai food taste, not easy to find in Canberra.
Excellent service, great food and good pricing. All round, a great experience.
Lucky we got there early, as it was getting busier and busier as the evening progressed.
I think people are starting to 'find' this new gem in dining. The locals in Waniassa are certainly frequenting this place.
The food 'spiciness' can be requested, just let the service staff know.
I highly recommend it for people who like thai food and/or asian tastes.
Definitely be back soon!
