Review Papparich Knox - Wantirna

Corinne Yong
Paid $11.50 for 6 miserable pieces of supposedly fried chicken wings and $16.90 for 6 sticks of satay. The chicken wing was so small as you can see on the second picture compared to a teaspoon. It was dry and there were chicken feathers on them. The third picture was what I was supposed to get in my order. I don't think I will order from this store again.

The restaurant wasn't packed when we arrived, and the food arrived in good time. We ordered Nasi Lemak, but you could tell that the prawns in the sambal prawns had come from a freezer, and had been microwaved, with sambal poured on them. This was rather disappointing as the proper way to cook the prawns is to try them in the sambal. We also ordered a teh Tarik, but it was quite small...

We have eaten there quite a few times in the past and the meals have been very good. Tonight we ordered three dishes for take away and all three were well below standard, they lacked ingredients and flavour. The chicken with the Nasi Lemak was burnt and dry suggesting it had been cooked for quite a while. VERY DISAPPOINTING.

Excellent food. Staff was nice and respectful. Dishes are little expensive but its ok to pay that much if you compare them with quality. Have been here couple of times and has always been a nice experience. Highly recommended.

There is no direction sign nearby pointing to this restaurant. All we knew it was near the cinema and JB hifi in Knox Shopping Centre, outside the main building, among the other restaurants. If it was not for the service provided by the young waitress who obligingly took the laksa back to the kitchen and changed for a new dish, Chow Kwai Teow CKT, I would have scored this place with 1 or less if permitted. Some friends raved about this $10 a plate Monday to Thursday lunch Malaysian restaurant a few weeks ago, and therefore my wife decided to give this place a try, with full knowledge that the standard on food of these friends, former Malaysians, is very woolly and "half-pass-six". The interior deco in black-and-white was modern and pleasant, not very much Malaysian restaurant look. Most importantly, it looked clean. The waitress brought a bottle of water and two plastic "glasses". The bottle looked like a beer stubby. The wooden cutlery holder "box" was not filled and there were only a couple of pairs of chopsticks, two or three spoons and forks. The curry chicken nasi lemak looked good and tasted good. I suspected the curry chicken was not cooked on-site, very likely was supplied from a central kitchen from franchised organisation. The laksa with chicken was a disappointment. It lacked that layer of red chilli oil. It came with thick Hokkien noodle. Since it was not assam laksa, or Sarawak laksa, I would expect it to be a bit lemak with coconut cream used in the soup. The laksa was sour, either the soup or noodle had gone bad. I pressed the call button, and waitress responded. I asked her to mention to the chef about the dish. I did not make a scene about this. The order was changed to a plate of vegetarian CKT with egg. The dish failed the colour test, looked extremely anemic. The bean shoots were "skinny" indicating they were not fresh. The Kwai Teow, which is the flat rice noodle, seemed to stick together. A good CKT demands great skill, good ingredient and very hot "wok". For extra two dollars, my wife had a sago dessert. The presentation was good, and the gula Melaka did enhance the flavour of this cold refreshing sweet dessert. I waited until my patience ran out. My wife almost finished her dessert and I was waiting for my teh tarek, or pull-tea. I alerted another waitress, and I was told someone was making it. The teh tarek was more like sugar syrup. Too much condensed milk was poured into that miserable cup of teh. I could not taste the tea flavour. The teh was not not pulled, but my legs were It was the most unpleasant Malaysian experience I ever have.

Very good food, authentic to what you would get in Malaysia and fresh Rotis BUT a minor issue, when I visited the Knox City branch today they gave me about 1 tablespoon of Dahl, it only just covered the tray as I discovered when I got a spoonful and it was all gone..., normally they give you four times as much as this (well they do at the chadstone one I normally go to), I hope this is not their usual habit here. Apart from that stingy serve this is a great place to get a good Malaysian feed.

The food was very tasty with lots of flavours and the portions are huge for some of meals.its the same flavours that you would get in malasia and Singapore. Would love to come here again.

My favorite restaurant in Knox. Restaurant is clean, staffs are friendly. Food in good quality. I always order pappa Fired Mee, roti telur with milk tea and they are always satisfied and delicious ❤️ It was same like the taste in Malaysia. 🤤 I tried new menu recently for nasi kunyit. It is amazing with the sambal sotong. Recommended👍

Came here on a Saturday afternoon. Ordered tandoori chicken with roti. Very very disappointing. The chicken seemed like it had been reheated multiple times. Definitely not fresh. Some parts were so hard n dry. The roti was not piping hot n flaky n puffy like it used to be. Seemed like they reheated a packaged one. What’s worse? I had diarrhea multiple times later that night. Never coming back here again .

I think the quality has gone downhill from when this first opened. Some ingredients were a bit old and stale - cucumber on the nasi lemak was inedible. Took a while when there weren’t that many customers. I probably won’t rush back.

Like all Pappa Rich outlets, the Knox version has the novelty factor of requiring you to list the menu items you want on a special notepad.  The kids argue over who is going to ring the bell which notifies staff that you are ready to place your order.  I quite like this concept as no-one feels rushed to make a decision from the large menu.<br/><br/>Some of the dishes here are great...the roti is to die for and the chicken skin is a moreish appetiser.  The noodles however can be a let down.  The serves of Char Kway Teow were decent in size but lacking in seafood for the price charged.  I would expect more than three prawns for a price of $14.40...you can get a better quality one for less in most shopping centre food courts.  It was also quite bland tasting...no hint of spice whatsoever.   The biggest letdown here were the cold drinks.  The iced coffee, iced chocolate and iced milo all arrived at the table lukewarm.  Whilst the glasses were all filled with ice, it was obvious that the milk had not been cold enough to begin with.  Whilst stirring them vigorously did make them slightly more palatable, they were unpleasant to drink and one left unfinished.  Unfortunately a complaint to a waitress was not taken seriously and did not result in any reduction to the bill.<br/><br/>The other issue here is timing.  Dishes come out when they are ready and not necessarily in the order you would expect.  Four of our party ordered noodles.  Two plates came out over ten minutes after the first two which seemed odd.  They were then followed by another one of our entree dishes which surely should have come out at the start!<br/><br/>Overall, not a bad place to take the family for a quick bite but if you are looking for great Malaysian dining, I would go elsewhere.

We were served raw chicken skewers and were told that a manager would speak to us, and then they revealed they didn't have a manager in the first place? They also offered us another plate of skewers. Why would anyone want another serving after that lol. An additional excuse was, "Sometimes the chefs overcrowd the tray when it is placed in the oven."

Fast and friendly service, have always been a fan of PappaRich but feel as though the quality of food has gone downhill as they open more and more franchises. We came in specifically to try the Belle’s chicken sandwich and it was overcooked to the point the bread crumbled before we had even touched it. We couldn’t taste anything but spice from the chicken, the coleslaw had no flavour to balance out the spice. I still really enjoyed my usual dry noodles with steamed chicken, my friend had the satay chicken skewers and there was barely any chicken on them and they were $14.90 (overpriced). The chips were hot but soggy and had no seasoning and were $6.50 (once again, overpriced)

We went when it wasn’t a busy period so service was good and prompt. The Wat Tarn Hor was piping hot and very tasty but the Seafood Curry Laksa lacked flavour and was rather bland and watery. Needed more body and flavouring. Prices have increased and the menu has changed with less items. I do like that the place is brightly lit and looks clean.

YUM! Always happy when I leave here<br/>I highly recommend the pappa prawn me if your a fan of soup dishes <br/>Great place to head for a easy yummy dinner

Disappointed. Service was ok, ordered Nasi Lemak with Curry Chicken - sambal wasn't sambal, prawns & eggs was cold. Peanuts burnt. My hainan chicken rice was average. The chicken breast was dry, waitress asked if I wanted the chilli sauce...(really??!) Teh Tarik, the flavours were very light. <br/>Ice kachang - the cone shaped shaved ice was done way in advance....which makes the ice so tough. It's suppose to melt in your mouth with the sweet toppings. I'm very disappointed and it's my last visit to a Papa Rich. They used to be very good, but something changed! I guess it's " Next "

The food is just not up to standard. The Wat Tan Hor is watery. Half boiled eggs are under, the egg white is not even cooked. Fried rice noodles is tasteless.

Me and my wife thought of grabbing some food after our movie and it was my idea to go to papparich. The food has no flavor at all. Portions were big but what’s the use if you don’t feeling like eating. Had only eaten 50% and left. On the counter the waiters ask how was everything and I replied not good at all “ she said ok” that will be $31.80 . Paid and left on the way home really bad stomach pain. Sitting on the toilet😷🤭
Willtravelforfood17
Had their pan mee soup, their chicken skin and their curry noodles with hainan chicken. The hainan chicken was cold and tasteless. The noodles was cooked well and had good flavour. It’s quite pricey though at nearly $16. The pan mee soup was bland and the noodles were too soft. The chilli was good though. The chicken skin was overcooked and was too brown. Very average food for a high price tag.

Papparich Knox was pretty good! The serving sizes definitely filled me up, and the waiting time wasn’t even long! Will definitely come back.<br/><br/>Im pretty sure I annoyed one of the staff because I wanted to sit in the booths tho 🤔 😅
Tania
PappaRich is usually quite consistent across all its stores, however the curry noodles were very plain and watered this time. Iced black sesame had large chunks of ice in it.

After reading all the appalling reviews on zomato, I still decided to give this outlet a second chance. I came here for a weekday lunch & it was fairly crowded. We ordered a chilli pan mee & ipoh noodles 🍜 in soup with hainanese chicken 🐔 as well as a teh tarik and ice lemon tea. 🍋 I opted for the winter lunch special which included the ipoh noodles, hainanese chicken & ice lemon tea & it came up to a total of 15.90. This seems quite worth since usually some of their dishes alone can amount to $14.90++. Additionally, we ordered a chilli pan mee 🌶 on its own since the dishes offered in the winter ❄️ lunch special were very limited. We ordered the teh tarik for $4.50 & so you can see why the winter lunch promotion is quite worth it! You save about $4-5.🤑 The portion sizes were huge & we did not manage to finish everything. The food was not mindblowing 🤯 or superb, but it was tasty & filling 😋

It's another branch of the overpriced malaysian restaurant. The food is all right but you can get better malaysian food from other shops. I guess their chicken skin is all right.

Standard Malaysian fare. Having been to Papa Rich restaurants all over Melbourne, I feel the Knox version is somewhat below standard compared to the others. Dishes are of typical standard.
Steven Gu
Papa rich at Knox Ozone. Food was actually ok with the price especially when you come during the lunch special times. Like the curry chicken and beef rendeng.
Joel
A fantastic menu with plenty of variety. The food was great, have been a few times and is consistent. The service has always been quality too.<br/>
Ronald
Not sure why this has poor rating, the food is good and he service was also not that bad, friendly staff and the menu has an array of different choices.

Awful<br/>Undercooked chicken, cold dahl. Tiny roti. Disgusting<br/>So expensive, disinterested staff who stand around talking. Awful experience. Don't bother

We go here quite frequently and usually it's great, but today was awful. It seemed like all of the staff were in training or something and didn't know what they were doing. Our entree, (satay chicken skewers) one of the skewers was raw!! I had one piece and then realized, unfortunately it was the last one and I really hope all the others were cooked!! They took the meal off the bill but it was horrifying to see RAW chicken that we'd already eaten most of!! :(<br/>Then they didn't bring out the chips for our son and I had to call them over to ask for them, when they'd already brought out all the other meals!<br/>Really disappointed in todays experience and if I do get food poisoning I definitely won't ever be returning, which is a shame because usually it's good there :(<br/>

Food here is pretty horrific and overpriced. Really gone downhill over the years. After charging $15 for a dish (quality wise it's worth well below $10) they charge extra for sambal. Unbelievable. Go to Straits or Cinta Raya, both about 5-10mins from Knox for proper Malaysian food.

Reasonable food at a reasonable price. The food came out in under 5 minutes so it must be sitting there ready to go. Overall it was fine. Dessert was best

Papparich is a relatively well known Malaysian eatery with a more than a handful of the brand name throughout Melbourne. This particular restaurant is pretty spacious. Staff are prompt when called, but a little slow with follow through (for instance, in bringing the water to the table) despite the place being quiet. The food is standard. It's not amazing, but it'll do. I had one of the noodle dishes with  Hainanese chicken. The noodles were all clumped together and the chicken wasn't presented as nicely as it has in other stores. A bit oilier than I would have liked.

I think the magic at PappaRich is fading. Sad but true. There used to be lines out the door at this PappaRich. No longer, and it's fairly clear why.<br/><br/>It's the food. It's just not as good as it used to be. When that means you are still paying the same price, the value proposition slides. Admittedly, there's new places in Knox Ozone and the competition is tough. Doesn't that mean you improve your quality and presentation to keep the doors open? No. Not here apparently. <br/><br/>OK. So the food is not terrible. But if you eat here, it's just OK. Hainan Chicken... Microwaved. Pretty sure. No silky texture. Overcooked to blazes. Personally, I like to see a bit of blood in the joint. It's the Asian way, and it shows a dish that's been carefully steamed rather than nuked in a microwave.<br/><br/>Similarly, the satay. Supposed to take up to 15 minutes, but when it hits the table in under 2 minutes, you know they didn't make it just for you. And when it's not busy you know they had the time.<br/><br/>Kang Kong? Not properly washed and was gritty. That's a real problem. When you start to cut corners and lose the attention to detail, people don't care that the place is nice to sit in. Service too kinda reflects the food. A bit one dimensional. Just bang the food on the table and walk away. Pretty ordinary all around.<br/><br/>So, having been here 4 times now over 2 years I think I'll be looking elsewhere for my Malaysian food fix.

This afternoon I went here for dinner. I had ordered an orange juice with no ice, shortly after the waiter came over and said “because you said no ice, we have to charge you extra because we have to put more juice” I then said don’t worry about the drink altogether! So disappointed in this incident I should have left on the spot and spent my money elsewhere. The menu did not state “ice with orange juice”, a clear joke if you ask me!!

Meh. Wasn't the best but wasn't the worst we've had. The noodles were the worst! (Forgot what it's called). It was my first time having it so i don't know if they just made it horrible or it's supposed to taste like that (bland... really bland). The roti was huge though! Great deal for your money on that.
DamoForce Food
Seated down. Service is quick but no personalable. Food came out quick maybe too quick. Everything was quite oily taste and visual. Tofu seemed like it been fried at the start of day

This evening was my first time visiting PappaRich. With many friends having positive things to say about other locations they frequent, I was quite excited to try it out! <br/><br/>Given that Knox ozone can be quite bustling on a late night trade, we called prior to try and reserve a table. We were told not to worry and that we don't have to book as there will definitely be a table for us. We were sure to confirm that there would be one available inside at a booth as oppose to outdoors, and were assured this wouldn't be a problem. Upon arriving, we were quickly told we could only dine outside tonight, and that there was already a list of people waiting to take indoor tables. When questioned as to why we were refused a booking prior and assured we not need worry as their would be a table inside, it was only then that the assistant explained this was because they only take bookings of 10+ guests. Lucky we bought coats! <br/><br/>Now, I do applaud PappaRich on offering a thorough allergen information breakdown on their online menu, which was very helpful for those of us with dietary requirements. I have intolerances to both wheat and dairy, so I often look at menus online prior to going to a restaraunt to make sure their is sufficient items I can choose between. However, the in store menu is not so easy. It lists when items are gluten free, but no dairy free indicators. This meant I spent a good portion of the night cross checking between the online list to ensure I could comfortably order. It is also worth noting that many of the items I had marked as "safe" prior to coming, were actually side dishes or "extras" and not actual meals, which was very disappointing as this was not initially clear when checking allergens.<br/><br/>I ordered the Satay Beef, along with a Curry Chicken. The satay beef was priced as a main, so I assumed the beef with a side curry would be more than enough. I was quite disappointed that the menu did not specify the satay beef came with a peanut side sauce. The menu lead us to believe the sauce had to be ordered and was listed alongside with a $2 price tag. Of course, you can imagine my confusion when I order the sauce to accompany, only to be served the satay beef with sauce included, and then have handed to me my "extra" pot of sauce. The beef, excuse my lack of a better term, looked like dried up dog food on a stick. Extremely small and almost burnt along the ends - or perhaps just old and dry. Very unappetising and the sort of meal you only eat because you've paid for it. To my surprise, the curry chicken was slightly better, but only marginally. <br/><br/>Overall, I was quite disappointed with the night. Overcharged for half eaten, small portions of poor food.

Long time awaiting. Food is authentic my friend say, but a bit pricy consider the amount. Fried chicken skin is awesome, would recommend to try.

Out of other paparich outlets.. knox one is the worst.<br/>portions are so less !!!we ordered veg nasi lemak which had almost nil gravy and when asked for additional gravy, it came out to be stale.<br/><br/>Other day i ordered laksa which only had noodles and few pieces of tofu n eggplant looked like they were running short of vegies in their kitchen. what a wate of money they charge.<br/>Been there twice and never gonna return, nunawading outlet is far better than Westfield one.

Out of the four PappaRich outlets I've been to (CBD, Nunawading, Glen Waverley and Knox) this is my least favourite. I absolutely love PappaRich, however my experience at the Knox outlet was ordinary. I was with my dad and he's usually not one to care about service at all (just wants his food) LOL but even he thought the service here was below average. Not a single smile, everything and everyone felt extremely rushed (it wasn't busy at the time), the staff seemed like they really did not want to be there. I had the Laksa with vegetables. The broth had a strange gritty texture, it wasn't smooth, kinda lumpy with "bits" in it. The vegetables were quite random, a couple of corn kernels and two or so slices of carrot. <br/>The experience has not changed my love for PappaRich, but I won't be returning to this outlet.

Worst Malaysian restaurant I've ever been to and that includes anything in Malaysia! Food was awful ! Went with my elderly mum who speaks fluent Malay and after ordering in English to the waitress who obviously couldn't care less, asked her to repeat back the order and it was. She looked like she didn't understand a word , so mum proceeded to order in Malay as she was Malaysian. Still blank face. NoThing like what we wanted. Asked her to go easy on the Ikan bilis as mums allergic to too Much , came out with EXTRA ? so much so it was inedible. Food generally poor quality, cold , and basically could do Better myself . NOT cheap either. Time TO go papa Rich you're food is SHITE . <br/>
Doris
Hmmmm I tried to like this place and everything about it is good (location, decor, staff, cost, menu) but something wasn't right. The food didn't taste that great........and that's it really. Nothing else matters if the food is below average. It was edible but I only ate it coz I'm a tight ass and didn't want to waste food. Try another place.
Byron Hsiung
Used to like the char Kueh tiau. Firstly they wanted to charge extra for sambal . Then the Kueh tiau came and they must have changed the chef. Worst Eva. Never coming back. Dry and taste very average. I can fry better than this at home. Bye bye

AFTER MONTHS OF CONVINCING I ACCEPTED MY BOYFRIENDS PLEE TO TRY PAPPARICH! I just never thought it would be my "cup of tea". But if future hubby loves it more than a fat kid loves cake, then I guess I have to give it a go right!!!??!?!?!!! Let's use the "feedback sandwich" method of analysing tonight's dinner:<br/><br/>POSITIVES:<br/>- The Knox Ozone location is smart. The decor was modern and very suitable for the surrounding environment. <br/>- The roti canai was the highlight of my night... I could eat 272672722772 of these alone. YUMMMMYYYYYYY!!!! <br/>- Curry chicken has an okay sauce flavour. <br/>- boyfriends dried egg noodles were amazing and the sauce had a lot of flavour. <br/>- VERYYYY GOOD PRICESSSSS!!! <br/><br/>NEGATIVES:<br/>- Staff where not too welcoming or attentive and we're really quiet; making us feel uncomfortable to ask for assistance. <br/>- Food literally came out in 5 minutes... NO JOKE. Some might think fast service is great, however to me it just screams "PRECOOKED FROM GOD KNOWS HOW LONG" and "PROCESSED FOOD". <br/>- Jasmine rice was cold and had a stale taste.<br/>- Prawn Sambal was horrible; the prawns had a really unusual fishy smell and taste. It was that bad I could not eat it after he first bite. I usually eat every prawn in sight but it was just yuck. It seemed very off. The sauce was okay though. <br/>- Curry chicken on both consisted of more skin and bones then actual meat. <br/><br/>CONCLUSION: <br/>To be honest I've had better, there's no "WOW" factor. I found everything to be on the bland side perhaps because I'm used to these flavour combinations and cuisines. I would recommend for a safe option for those who aren't familiar to this cuisine and would like to try it!
MF
Went there with family as they were craving for malaysian food, wasnt my first visit there, the food were okay, like the other papparich, ban mian was good, laksa so-so, hainan chicken was meh, the chicken was a bit smelly, fish head noodle soup was dissapointing as not much meat, all bones on the head, roti onion was good, and crispy noodle with gravy was standard. Overall if i ever come back, it will only be for their ban mian and roti.
Cookielessvee
Fast service and food comes out all at once. Nice interior and ambience. Food wise, the portion for the crispy noodle is big. Noodle are crispy yet airy with some shredded chicken which is an improvement to the chicken blocks. The noodles are drenched in the sauce yet the outer noodles are untouched. The roti with curry chicken is decent though the portions are less. Love the teh tarik that comes with grass jelly<br/><br/>

I think this is the worst restaurant I have ever eaten at. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken. It came with hot tomato sauce poured over friend chicken with raw tomato, cucumber and pineapple. At least it was a laugh.
Ang Khocolateman
I caught up with the lovely Bu Glenda for an impromptu dinner of Malaysian hawker food at Pappa Rich in Ozone at Knox a little while back. Most of the menu is off-limits to me now - no rice, no noodles, no bread - so I gravitated towards soup. At the time, I wasn't able to get much solid food down so when I saw a soup that had silken tofu in it the 'DING DING DING WE HAVE A WINNER' lights and sirens went off in my head...
Anna
The worst PappaRich in Melbourne! Honestly, I have been here for a few times and always had bad experiences. <br/>Last time was cold Laksa and now... 2 curry fish noodle soups were cold, then they sent back to kitchen and were taking so long to heat them up... But they came back with a little bit warm only...
HarshButFair Reviews
In a word: shite. <br/>Started off good when first opened but now gets worse with each visit. Recently, sent back an undercooked chicken and got the 'rolled eyes' treatment from the kitchen staff, followed by an additional charge for swapping it with something else instead because I didn't trust the chicken....
Twiggy How's Tricks
I really like this place. They have some nice mock meat meals, including chicken and mutton. Waiters were friendly and meals came quickly. My meat eating friend liked his fake mutton too 😛
Nomnom
They dont even deserve 1.<br/><br/>How hard is it to microwave a pre-cooked curry? <br/><br/>3 cold currys = epic fail.<br/><br/>Bye bye pappa...would rather eat the cardboatd drink tray from mcdonalds

Always love to have hometown food! Papa rich always a pleasure when we crave for roti with curry or nasi lemak. This time tried the Hainanese chicken rice, was good but have yet to find the best.<br/>Service was good and efficient.

I'm a big fan of Malaysian cuisine and been to this chain a few times. They do have nice, hand made roti breads come in a variety of styles. that . However, the quality of other dishes are not consistent. For example, no chilli/garlic sauce with the Hainanese chicken, which is disappointing since the chilli/garlic sauce is an essential part of the dish. Since it was my boyfriend's first time trying the Hainanese chicken, I really got his hopes up by telling him how amazing this dish is especially with the sauce blah blah blah. However, the Hainanese chicken hor fun came with a massive serve of hor fun and 4 small slices of chicken..with no sauce. I don't know if authenticity of the food is compromised due to Papparich being a franchise. Since when I worked in a Vietnamese chain it was a similar situation, authenticity giving way to standardisation and the need to cater to the western palate. By the way, the waiters don't take your order and you have to write your order on a piece of paper and the waiters will come and collect it.

I thought that we would take advantage of a Groupon deal to take my family out for dinner.  Ended up being a frustrating experience.  What should have taken an hour for dinner took nearly twice that.<br/><br/>We had to wait about 30 minutes to get our desert after the main meal.  To make matters worse, when we buzzed for the waiters to request our desert we were completely ignored.  After repeated buzzing, I had to make my way to the counter and request our desert.  It took another 15 minutes to get our 2 deserts finally delivered.<br/><br/>We all agreed that we would not go to the particular place again
David Peters
Very disappointed. Had Groupon  voucher. 3 course was for two people. BUT it was a share first course. Two meals for main and a share sweet. This wasn't on the voucher. Since when does a 3 course for two mean shared courses. Never come across that before. Will ask that question next voucher I buy  a meal voucher

Good to see O-Zone getting small, new changes to eateries. Keeping it safe with large, popular chains such as PappaRich - which was bustling when we visited on Thursday night. <br/>PappaRich also offers GroupOn vouchers for 2-course dining, or buffet depending on which branch, which could be interesting for me to try sometime...

Where do I begin?<br/><br/>Came to Papparich last night bringing my family with me for the first time. The waiter forgot to bring us our menus, had to buzz to get them given to us. Secondly when ordering an entree, the waitress declares that she 'can't guarantee' it would come first before the rest of the meals. Thirdly, extra chilli was requested for the Fried Kway Teow - by this, just a little extra was needed, not the whole chilli bush that my family and I got in our meals, which inevitably made us sick. All in all, a little disappointed in the Knox Papparich experience. Wouldn't go back!

Nothing really outstanding the rotis were very sweet <br/><br/>Main dishes were tasty but nothing outstanding <br/><br/>Love Malaysian food doubt I would try this again

For a franchised chain, this store wasn't bad but has dropped a little in recent months. Clean and modern deco, friendly and attentive staff & simple Malay food. Beautifully presented but not as much flavour as I would like, especially for Malay food. Very reasonably priced, value for money.

The latest Paparich in Melbourne brings a familiar smell to the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. This outlet however suffers from a fair amount of echoing due to high hard ceilings/floors and the food ordered on the night (Papa Fried Mee) was not on par with the other outlets. Nonetheless service was good and quick as usual.
Mark
Papparich never fails to disappoint. They serve great tasting authentic Malaysian food with equally great service. Definitely will come again

Had a delicious lunch with friends here today. The food was spot on with rich flavours and great variety. Service was also great; quick and attentive. Yum! Will be eating here again soon.

Points are given to their service, and the cleanliness of the dinning area.  And their satay chicken were very nice quite juicy :) <br/>A nice option for pre or post movie meals :)

My husband and I tried this recently before we headed off to the movies. It was very healthy. A bit bland for me. Plenty to eat. Unusual food. I don't get the drinks. More like desserts. Ordering set up was efficient. You press a buzzer when you're ready to order. Overall Ok. Will probably try again.
Ceeee
The service was fantastic. The girl serving us was very knowledgeable and friendly and went through the ordering process with us. Love the ordering process, as you don't have the waitress breathing down your back to order. You simply press a button when you are ready and they will collect your order card from you. Food was promptly delivered in under five minutes. Quality was not so impressive. The quantity that came on the dish was underwhelming. There was way too much rice but no where near enough meat. The vegetarian meat was delicious though. Only problem is you only get about four tony pieces. Awkward layout of sweet and sour chicken on lettuce that makes it incredibly hard to eat. Soy Pudding drink was delicious though slightly too sweet.

An over priced street food joint... chicken skin wasn't freshly fried at all... Ingredients in seafood laksa taste like they've been putting in and out of a freezer... I couldn't be more disappointed... I'd have chosen somewhere else to eat... The only good thing about them is friendly staff...
Edible Melbourne
I have been at many of these franchised stores and I gotta admit that this one is one of the better ones. I wouldn't normally take the time to review a franchised store due to the guidelines that they all follow which leaves little room for improvement even if the owner wanted to unless there is something distinct to it (positively or otherwise). I gotta admit that this store is a little better than the other ones; even though the food sometimes takes a little longer at what is expected from them (they are famous for their speed), the quality is much better (as good as it can get considering the franchise) and the staff so welcoming (unlike their sister store in Glen Waverley. Well done to these guys for better service and products. The fit out is also one of the best ones around.

If it were possible to give a negative review I would... All I have to say is HELL NO! Click back don't even bother. Food tastes like its been sitting around all day, reheated and is full of MSG (I'm allergic to it and had a rather large reaction- staff assured me there wasn't but a body COVERED in itchy hives does NOT lie!!) To make things better my partner spent all night and the following day sick from food poisoning (this is all he had eaten this day).<br/><br/>Don't bother. Spend your money somewhere else and save yourself being ridiculously sick.

Ive been there twice now. First time was Okay, second time.. we waited over 40 minutes for our drinks and asking for them twice. I like the lay out plan with the different types of meals but it feels a bit odd to me. Nice place to eat. Desirable furniture and friendly staff.

Surprisingly good. Nice menu, good prices, fast delivery of food. Only things I'd fault were that the ordering process wasn't explained & no toilets on premises.
Carole_mccrdy
No toilets!!!!. Food average! No toilets on the premises. You have to walk approx 200 meters to get to a public loo. Not great at night!!!!

What Happened.. The food was fantastic in the first few months of this place opening up but what a turnaround! My family dined there for the last time last week. We noticed the meals had gone downhill and thought perhaps a bad night we will give them another go... It was the worst I ever had, almost inedible. A can of baked beans would surpass it. Big disappointment for the knox shopping area.

Terrible service. Waited for over half an hour just for someone to take my order card. Repeated pressing of the service button.....nobody interested in taking my order...so I left! It wasn't even busy!

Went there on 5th March. Ordered a congee with steam chicken. Congee, no flavour at. It's terrible.
Angel_5587
Ugh. Typical cheap crappy asian food! Had a dish with chicken and the chicken was so cheap and not good. Doubt I'd ever go back

We've been here a few times and have been very satisfied with the menu and quality of food. The staff are extremely friendly and attentive even during busy periods. I would definitely recommend this place to others looking for authentic Malaysian food!

Decent. Went to this place on a Wednesday afternoon, their food were alright , they had really nice roti!. The service here is on the middle of a spectrum since the ordering is done yourself and the waiters come upon the press of a button. Overall nice interior and decent food.

Food is good but over priced!. If you are looking for Malaysian cuisine that is as authentic as you will get in Malaysia and Singapore, then Papparich definitely cuts it. The food reminds me of hawker centers back in singapore. <br/><br/>That said, the price is too steep. Imagine a roti canai for $6.50 - a small piece of bread with curry dipping sauce, expensive! The chicken satay was oh so good! But at $12.90 for 6 pcs is skewered chicken about 25 grams/pc, it's really expensive. <br/><br/>Too bad, if the prices would have been lower I could eat here everyday. So this will be just a special occasion restaurant.

Yummmmmmy and so cheap. I love this PappaRich. I go here once a week and either get the menu item N12 (I forget what it's called, but it's a soup with prawns and chicken and noodles. om.), or satay chicken skewers. Delicious Malaysian food, delivered very quickly, and everything is so cheap! My boyfriend and I dine here with mains and drinks for just over $30. <br/><br/>P.S. I've been to one other PappaRich and the Knox restaurant is best hands down.

This restaurant will definitely be a regular haunt for us whenever we're around the area. The food was tasty, the menu so comprehensive it was difficult to make a decision cos I wanted to try everything! Almost no waiting time before the food arrived and wait staff were very friendly. The restaurant was very busy but there was always someone happy to help when we ordered more drinks and an extra snack. Will be back soon!

Average food! Waited 10 minutes between one persons main coming out and the next. Entres came out half an hour after mains! Never saw one of our orders. Eh..<br/><br/>Nice service though?<br/><br/>Never again :(

Not great. This was our first try of Papparich and I doubt I will return. The food is "ok" but the serves are small and not presented in a particularly nice way. Some dishes were unbelievably spicy although this was not noted on the menu when we ordered. The meal overall for four of us was unbelievably expensive, when compared to dining at competitor restaurants in the same location. I think Papparich could work alot harder to provide good value for money. However the major disappointment for me was the treatment we received from the staff at Papparich. The wait staff were disinterested and the staff member who accepted our payment at the end took our patronage for granted. When our meals were brought out, each dish was announced as though the wait staff were staring into space, or speaking to the wall. Dishes were repeatedly placed before the wrong diner, despite the fact that we made it very clear which diner each dish was for. They just placed the food and drinks in front of "anyone" and left us to sort it out. A small thing I know, but it definitely points to a wider lack of consideration for the overall dining experience. At no stage were we asked how things were going or if our meals were ok. Again a small point, but surely a fundamental gesture if you're trying to create a great dining experience? Finally when I paid at the end of the meal, I was not asked whether the meal was ok - merely told what to pay. Payment was accepted without further comment leaving me feeling pretty disillusioned and dissatisfied. Not a good experience at all. Others reading this will probably say "harden up" but at the end of the day, customers shouldn't have to harden up - they should be made to feel like guests, they should experience good hospitality and a great dining experience, and made to feel like they want to come back and dine again at the same place in future. None of this happened at Papparich. If only they'd asked how my meal was, I wouldn't have had to write this review ... what a wasted opportunity by the staff who worked there. Oh well Papparich, I gave you a go and you underwhelmed me. I'll just keep going to your (well established) competitor at Knox. They're always glad to see me, they remember us, make us feel welcome, their food is great and they are excellent value for money. They don't take us for granted and they care about our dining experience. Meantime, you guys have got a lot to learn

Excellent. This place is great. Tasty food and a great range to choose from. You complete your order on a chit sheet yourself and then press the buzzer when you want a waiter/waitress to come to your table. Great idea and works well at this establishment. Also alleviates the need for wait staff to come up and annoy you all the time...... Great roti bread and freshly made. Great prices and quick service. You can see the kitchen from where you sit, which is always a plus for me. Supposedly nothing to hide..... Will do well at Knox. Well Done. Maybe some other Knox restaurants can eat here and have a look at the service.

EveLovelle was invited to dine as guest at PappaRich Matcha Rocks, 7.50AUD + Open Sesame, 7.50AUD With its new franchised outlet in the far east of Knox City, PappaRich opens its doors to customers to have a taste of Malaysian flavours. Jan and I bumped into our friends from Gastrology and shared all these dishes together. The first two decadent drinks were very saturated in both the matcha and sesame flavour. Opt for these if you like your drinks thick. Don't feel so guilty because the Open Sesame comes with soya milk. Both drinks would be so great for the summertime. Milo Dinosaur, 4.90AUD + Tropical Lime, 7.50AUD Missing home dearly, I went for a childhood sensation, the Milo Dinosaur. It was exactly the taste of what I predicted it to be, hence a thumbs up. The best drink possible was Jan's Tropical Lime which was blended with ice, lychee, lime and topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. This was.. the bomb. Pappa Deep Fried Chicken Skin, 6.50AUD This would have tasted great if I was my younger self.  The Fried Chicken Skin was not my cup of tea but could be for you. Steamed Mantau With Kaya, 4.50AUD I have never tried Steamed Mantau With Kaya. I love kaya toast so much and wanted to see if it makes a difference to eat it with steamed mantau. The soft and subtle bun was able to bring out the butter and kaya flavour out. I loved it. Roti Bom, 7.50AUD The Roti Bom is bland on its own but so great dipped with condensed milk and sugar respectively. And if you know me, you know I love anything and everything with condensed milk. Its one of my childhood must haves. Satay Mixed (12 Pieces), 22.90AUD We ordered both the chicken and beef satay. We all prefered the chicken than the beef. The curry was thick and great as well. Pappa Chicken Rice With Steamed Chicken, 11.90AUD For a quick Chinese food fix, the chicken rice was pretty good. The star item was of course, the Hainanese chicken for its soft and tender meat. The chili and ginger really brought out the flavour t

Last Saturday I was fortunate enough to be invited as a guest along with D to taste some of the dishes the new Pappa Rich in Knox City had to offer. Located in the Ozone area, Pappa Rich had fast pace buzz and a small queue of people at the door around 1pm. With an array of authentic Malaysian dishes to choose from, Pappa Rich just one of those places you go, when you want a no frills, good Malaysian feed. Perfect catch up space between shopping. To start, satay was passed along the table for all the guest to try. D and I arrived late so there wasn't much left by the time we got ours. D had one and said it was tasty. For my main dish I ordered the Chilli Pan Mee. This was a noodle dish served with ikan bilis (fried anchovies), mince meat, spinach, chilli past and finished with a soft boiled egg. To eat it, I popped the egg yolk and mixed everything up. This had the small kick from the sauce and wonderful balance of textures. D got the nasi lemak, coconut rice with curry chicken, ikan bilis, egg and prawns. I consider this the perfect after school feed.  Then there was dessert. The sago pudding was in a bowl of coconut milk, palm sugar, topped off with read bean.  All classic elements of a Malaysian dessert in one bowl. The egg sago pudding was a small egg pudding surrounded in a pool of coconut milk sago. Nothing to fault in this, except I wish I had more! Overall 13.5/20. This is good trusty reliable Malaysian food but it hasn't reached the same 'high' as their other stores, though it is still a store I would happily visit for lunch or dinner if I was around ozone for a movie or shopping.

The menu remains the same for all PappaRich establishments, but if unfamiliar the menu is extensive. Roti, Fried Noodles, Noodle soups, Rice dishes and a variety of desserts, drinks and small eats as well...While PappaRich Knox hasn’t reached the highs of their Chadstone store for me, yet, in terms of their noodle dishes. It certainly is early days yet, however what you can’t go wrong with is their desserts and drinks. So for the upcoming summer, it’s great to just sit out with a cooling drink after watching a movie or after a hard days work shopping and just relax.
Gastrology
We enjoyed the selection of entrees which we devoured very quickly. Of particular note were the succulent, aromatic, freshly grilled chicken satay skewers which we slathered in the decadent and perfectly spiced satay sauce.
