What a delicious lunch we had, authentic and rustic cuisine. Mothers day buffet.

Good restaurant for a small, out of the way, place. Atmosphere was fantastic, wine was brilliant, food was okay, service was very good. Tasting plate at $55 p/h was very filling. Schnitzel, goulash and pickled cabbage was great, rest was ok. Staff happy to talk about wine or food and regions, etc. Recommend for a unique and different experience of Australia's multicultural food scene.

Loved this place and went many times and the food is great. However left disappointed cause out of a table or 10, 2 friends were sick with flu like symptoms and still had to pay for the no shows nearly at full price. Our table paid a lot for drinks as well which easily covered the no shows. I wish there was more empathy and i am sad that I won't be going again.

Their bi-monthly Hungarian cooking class is well worth the cost of admission. Very friendly teachers and a boatload of yummy Hungarian food. A really one of a kind experience!

I started with the chicken soup with pogacsa....it tasted like home, exactly. Next was the beef goulash with nokedli and braised red cabbage....tasted like home, exactly. Next was the mix berry jam crepes and the zserbo....tasted like home, exactly! I cannot tell you how good this was and reminded me of how my grandmother cooked. This cooking is on the mark and genuine care has been put into the menu. Well done Korona Csarda.

Amazingly authentic Hungarian food cooked in a way I would expect from home. Very friendly staff and a great assortment of food that should leave everyone happy. Goulash is a highlight as always but I think that the desserts and even the entree soup are amazing as well. Definitely recommend to anybody who wants to try an authentic Hungarian experience.

Really delicious, really authentic Hungarian food. My Hungarian relatives love it. <br/>They provide such an array of deliciousness that it's hard to choose. The decor is daggy, but the food, service and drinks are incredible. And it's made even better if you can go when they have a special event on, like Hungarian dancing. It's spectacular!

Went here with my family for the first time tonight and absolutely loved it. For $40 per head it was well worth the price. Lots to choose from beginning with a selection of cold meats , crackers , appetisers, pates and delicious pea soup. Main meal full of hot meat dishes and all delicious. Approx 6 traditional meals to choose from. Dessert included in the buffet. Service good and well worth the visit. Will definitely be back.

Amazing food and quite the hidden gem. The restaurant is behind a Hungarian community center proving its authenticity. The venue is small but quaint decorated with Hungarian cultural items be sure to book in advance. The food is hearty and delicious, rustic style and flavor but with enough attention to detail to keep you pleasantly surprised. Staff had explained to us that all the dishes are made from scratch from breads to desserts requiring all day to prepare for that nights buffet. As it was out first time experiencing Hungarian food the staff took out time to explain all the different dishes and their significance. Overall very impressed 9/10 would definitely return.

The buffet is $40 each, however we were a bit disappointed by the food selection. I would expect the price should be $30 max p.p for the quality provided. The food is homestyle hungarian food, and was somewhat tasty however for the price there should be a lot more variety. Starters included about 8 different things like seafood extender salad, slice salami/meats (appeared to be regular supermarket quality rather than housemade), a clear soup with carrot and celery, boiled eggs, basic salads. There were about 7 main dishes- crumbed vegies, chicken schnitzel, goulash, cabbage rolls, flour dumpling-like items and couple of basic items like wedges, peas. Dessert was a meringue in custard. fruit salad and small selection of cakes/slices like sticky date. Drinks were OK but no real exciting european ciders/drinks on offer, I got an orange juice however i noticed it was the sugary/watery type not 100% juice. Many Hungarians were at the restaurant, and the food and surroundings were OK however variety and quality needs improvement for the price charged. Staff were friendly enough.

Great place for a function or just for a meal.  This is the fourth time our family has held a function here - this time a 70th birthday.  The food was fantastic - well prepared, tasty and lots of it - each time anything ran out it was quickly replentished.  The 3-course buffet offered lots of choice, including dishes that appealed to non-Hungarians as well (but really, anybody would like most Hungarian dishes).  My personal favourites were the Hortobagy palacsinta and the stuffed cabbage rolls, which were both succulent and tasty.  The service was attentive and friendly.  With 60+ people we had the venue to ourselves, with plenty of space around the tables and people could hear each other speak (important at our age!). There is a dance floor and a TV where you can put on a slide show DVD of photos if you want.  Our family loves this place and we highly recommend it.

Yummy. We dined on a coupon deal and enjoyed the tasty food presented. The goulash soup was filling and delicious. Really enjoyed the cabbage roll stuffed with pork mince and rice. Dessert I didn't think was anything particularly memorable (Strawberry jam crepes & floating islands.). When we arrived we were offered an upgrade to a full buffet for an additional $15 per person. I'm glad we didn't take that as we were full as googs when we left with our three course set dinner.

This is more of a photo post and not food review because we had the buffet instead of separate meals. Korona Csarda is a great restaurant in the Hungarian Community Centre. Their menu changes every week, but it has plenty of traditional Hungarian options.

The layout of the buffet is as such: entree station, mains and dessert. As space is limited in the serving areas, desserts are served after most of the crowd have finished their mains. The restaurant offers various dips, speciality hams, cheese and soup. Oh and an half-boiled egg with tomato sauce drip on top. I believe most of the items are homemade. INCLUDING THE HOMEMADE SHOTS (see pic below, notice the little glass :) )

8/10 = Excellent. FOOD: Little cosy buffet set up - from salad, cold meat and cheese, hot food to dessert. All of the food tasted authentic and delicious. Desserts were the highlight - spot on and much better than other European desserts (i.e. French and Italian).<br/><br/>ENVIRONMENT: Service was excellent. The place was not packed when we were there on Saturday for lunch. Nice music and atmosphere.<br/><br/>VERDICT: Will definitely come back, probably on Friday evenings when they have live music!

Beautiful traditional Hungarian food. The buffet at $38 was well worth it as we were so full we were bouncing all the way back to the car. The service was very warm and welcoming . Will be coming back for sure!

The best Hungarian and Value for money. I don't know how $38 for a full buffet can be expensive like a review said. My father is from Hungary, upon taking him there he felt like he was back home. Great food, goulash, schnitzel, spetzle, cabbage rolls, cold meats and every soup I have had is to die for. This is the best Hungarian in the country, with the friendliest of staff, great atmosphere and even have in stock Dreher Hungarian beer which is hard to get and very nice. It's simple 10 out of 10

Delicious and authentic. Definitely the best Hungarian food in Melbourne. The place where you could happily entertain your fussy visiting Hungarian relatives, your non-Hungo friends, and your whole migrant family. Lovely young hosts. Quirky collection of Hungarian paraphernalia. Always makes me feel like I've made a return visit to Budapest. Don't be put off that it's buffet. The food is consistently of a high quality, tasty and fresh. There are very few restaurants I would return to as many times as I have graced the tables of Korona. Just remember to go on an empty stomach so you can make it to dessert. Yum.

Great Hungarian Buffet, I love this place, on offer is fantastic genuine Hungarian food, value for money and great staff. Since writing the original review I've visited this restaurant at the a least few times and I'm always impressed by the food, friendly attentive staff and value for money.

A great little gem!. Used a Livingsocial voucher for this restaurant which entitled us (group of 6) to:<br/><br/>The all you can eat Hungarian buffet.<br/>6 aperitifs. <br/>3 bottles of wine.<br/>3 x 20 dollar off return vouchers.<br/><br/>The selection of Hungarian food though somewhat limited to comparable major buffets out there, but most of the food is rather nice. <br/><br/>Food was being replenished as per demand so as not to be wasteful. Dessert buffet came out after most people had finished their mains.<br/><br/>Only one waiter/host, who was kind enough to replace 2 of our bottle of wines for soft drink, 4 glasses per couple, for a total of 8 glasses, which was more than sufficient compensation for the value of the wine.<br/><br/>Saw the pictures on the website and the video, in which some pictured foods were not available when we ate there, guess that's what's expected for a Friday night (I assume Saturday nights and Sunday lunches fare the more prized/value for money foods). But hey, who's complaining? - Although I would have loved the aperitif to have been shot out of their "cannon" (check video to see what I mean) rather than shot glasses, but I guess that either occurs on the actual weekends or on special occasions. <br/><br/>Overall, considering the somewhat long trip from the Western Suburbs, a rather nice feed, well value for the discounted Livingsocial voucher, with a host who was very friendly and not rude (as some might be in these voucher situations).<br/><br/>If you see the voucher on again, be sure to try this place at least once!

Real Hungarian Food. A lot of the Hungarian restaurants in Melbourne try to take traditional Hungarian peasant food and make it into something it's not.<br/><br/>Korona doesn't do that. You get delicious, traditional Hungarian food - REAL HUNGARIAN FOOD. The Töltött káposzta is incredible, the cucumber salad is delicious, and on Father's Day, they made proper Madár Tej. Possibly the best Hungarian food in Melbourne.
