We came for the Melbourne Cup and had the set menu. The staff were all lovely, the food was great quality and value and service was timely and courteous. The musician who played a set after the race was actually terrific and I would come back with the famz just to hear him play again.
Amazing food and awesome service. We had a very large booking of 20 adults and 40 kids and all went smoothly. Highly recommend going for lunch or dinner!
Loving the charred on the steak. Nice ambience and very family friendly. Only the play area is a bit stinky when we went and very cramp. But overall pretty happy with the tavern.
Want a great steak and a cold beer for your Sunday night dinner? The Herdy is the go! We all had Sirloin and Rib Eyes which were cooked to perfection and came with a generous serve of chips and salad. Get in early though, we go around 5:30pm or earlier as it gets crazy with the amount of kids and noise that erupts after 6!
Great sports bar and friendly staff, main restaurant is good too with plenty of room. Sunday night is kids free night so we had plenty of kids nearby running around so maybe best to avoid that. Food and drinks very good, Recommend this place for that.
a really nice resteraunt with great ambience in general, great at table service maybe a little noisy at times, but to be expected at a resteraunt that shows the footy! i can highly recommend the garlic sizzling prawns entree, which came out beautifully hot and sizzling with two beautiful pieces of fresh bread they tasted amazing! by far the best prawns i have ever had. this resteraunt is also a great place to take kids. i am a regular here!
Came here for dinner during our stay in Perth. This pub was a classic family style bistro and we found the atmosphere very friendly. Food was good we had a Parma and steak sandwich and chocolate cake. Staff were friendly and attentive.
We have been going for steak night for a few years. The food is good and is reasonably priced, with a good serving size. the steaks are usually cooked well.
The Herdsman Lake Tavern Wembley is the perfect place to head out for a family meal any day of the week. You'll love enjoying your meal while the kids run around the large indoor playground.
The service was great, and food was your average pub grub - decent prices, big portions.
I had the twice cooked pork belly for dinner after they ran out of the pulled pork filo roll I wanted. When it arrived, I was originally disappointed, having in my head a picture of my Mum's pork belly- succulent on the bottom, crisp crackling on the top. Instead, there was no crispness. However, as I ate it, I actually found it quite flavoursome, cooked in an Asian sauce and served with a good assortment of green vegetables and white rice. My Mum had the bugolgi beef, served on a sizzling plate, which she said was also very tasty.
Two of the boys had pork ribs. The meat was succulent and juicy, and, while I personally didn't like the marinade, they tucked in without hesitation. The third had chicken parmigiana, his go to meal, which was fine. However, it was a step down from the vast assortment of parmigianas they used to have on their menu, such as the 'Crazy Chick', which had been a favourite of mine.
Finally, the littlest of us had a herdy burger (without the Beetroot). As the picky one in our family, we all waited with bated breath to see her reaction - she LOVED it!
The cakes looked appetising, especially the Malteaser mud cake, but we unfortunately had apple cake at home, so didn't get to sample any this time.
Overall, don't go if you're looking for anything fancy, but if you are after a hearty, family friendly meal with a range of options, Herdsman Tavern is a good spot to go!
Great specials during the week and its gets extremely busy as you get people like me trying to pick up a midweek bargain. The manager was real attentive and helpful and the food is ok. Feels like a step back in time and more like a Im about to play bingo with the oldies.Anyhow its fine for a bargain but dont expect too much 👍
Sunday at the Herdsman is kids eat free day, and so as expected it was super busy with lots of families enjoying the food, and of course, the indoor playground. Service was at the counter and unexpectantly, given it was so busy, was very friendly and made you feel welcome. I ordered off the specials menu, the beef cheeks with red wine sauce and vegetables on creamy mash potato, and a Clare Valley Shiraz, and we had one free kid’s meal and four other adult meals. Food arrived quickly and together, no one had to wait for their meals in our group. This is a big plus, as often busy places struggle to get things out together for larger groups. My beef cheeks looked and smelled wonderful; something to keep the wintery chills at bay! Melt in the mouth beef with a good hearty sauce and beautiful creamy potato mash, I left my plate clean. I had a few chips and they were nice and crunchy. All the other meals looked good too. However, there were no gluten free options for the sauces that came with the steak, my brother had to eat his sauceless. But he did not complain. Another negative was that the steak in the sandwich did not fill the sandwich; it was much smaller than the bread. And the kid got a large banana split with lots of ice cream and brightly coloured things, all the good things to make him bounce all the way home! All in all great Sunday lunch with good value for money, good service, good food and drinks, and great place to take the kids to enjoy the indoor playground while the grown-ups can enjoy a drink.
