Review Malaysian Hawker - Wembley

Leen H.
Surprised less of taste. Since the pictures looked very good I decided to go there for lunch and bought a prawn noodle soup. In the picture you can see that there is an egg inside. Unfortunately, there wasn't even a half egg inside and only 2 pieces (!) of prawn, for a so called prawn noodle soup were far too few. The focus where at the cheap noodles and only 1 small piece of chicken, no vegetables. the soup itself wasn't very tasty. you noticed that it was cooked very inexpensively and that's a shame.

This stall has the worst customer service and appreciation amongst all the stalls in the food court. I was made to stand in front of the stall watching the owner/staff finishing her bowl of rice (about a minute) while other customers are queuing behind me! When she finally finished, she then took my order without being apologetic for making me wait . When it comes to payment, she asked how do I want to pay for it. I replied "card". She roughly shoved her credit card machine which hasn't been switched on or not functioning implying that card payment is not available - can't you just tell me you can't do card today and prefer cash? Is that so difficult to say??????? How rude is that! I don't care whether your food is super delicious or not, but without basic courtesy and appreciation, that will be my last time getting my fix from you. Maybe not everyone will agree with me, but that's just my thought.

Always very crowded so I decided to give it a try. I had Laksa and rice noodle and honesty I felt Laksa was tasteless... Hopefully I can choose right menu next time.

Enjoyed lunch with my family on Saturday. Food was very delicious. The slices of sausage in the Kuay Teow were nice and thick, a good sign. I ordered some Chau Tau Quay which wasn’t on the menu. The pieces were slightly thick but the flavour was there. Overall a good family feed.

The prawn noodles and the char kway teow were both excellent. I especially like how you can taste the “wok hei” or sear from the wok in the char kway teow. The lady that served us was also a real gem, really nice and friendly.

Ordered their ipoh hor fun, I have ordered this same dish from them before, however, sadly their quality of food is drastically worse. We went there early around 5:15pm when there were not many customers around, however we still had to wait for more than 30 minutes, so I went up to their counter, and to my horror they took out my bowl of ipoh hor fun out from their microwave oven that is located below the counter. Noodles were not silky smooth (they most likely used an instant noodle version), the soup was not hot, most likely they microwaved my entire bowl of food for so long until they forgot about it. Will not be ordering from this store again. -5*

Char kway teow is so good , all the other dishes look nice , I've been there 5 times and have the same dish , my kids love the other dishes

Very bad customer service and very rude lady (i think d owner), but i like their saltfish fried rice though

Worst food ever, never coming back here, I ordered Mi goreng without lettuce and with chilli and i got lettuce and no chilli! Not only that but it i hadn’t eaten all day and i just wanted some food but i couldn’t even finish it! this used to be my go-to but now i’m off to maccas to get a big mac on the way home! BOOOOOOOOO!!!!! (sorry not sorry)
also the wait was ridiculous long, my friend was ready to leave and i hadn’t even got mine yet, and the tables and floor were revolting!!

Following on from the Wembley Dim Sum post, we decided to have Malaysian for our main course. Malaysian Hawker has quite an extensive range of traditional and authentic Malaysian favourites. We chose beef rendang, a really thick and delicious coconut curry that cooks for ages so the beef is really tender. This was quite a nice version, but the meat could have been trimmed a bit better. the flavour was amazing but there were a few fatty pieces in there.
Red Bean
Consistently fair (not going to blow your mind) Malaysian fare. You can get pretty much anything from char kuey teow to curry laksa down to rendang with rice. I’d steer clear of things like kapitan curry or anything that isn’t made fresh to order - they’re really good with their woks so go for the stuff that needs the “wok hei” feel to taste good

Was told by coworkers this stall serve really nice chicken rice. And they were. Got that somewhat sweet taste to the meat and the soup. Really keen to try the other menu. Will come back to try some more.

If there is a long queue, dont get put off by it. The food came out pretty quick and the curry laksa was great! The food court setting also provide wine glasses and you can buy wine from the bottle shop nearby.

Char kway teow with mild chilli is always good here - we always get it when we come. Better to eat it fresh here rather than taking it away. Curry puffs are nice and crisp, albeit a bit pricey.

Laksa is ok. Chicken rice is average - the rice isn't the best, I prefer Tak Chee or Chicken Rice Corner. Nasi lemak has good coconut rice, curry chicken and ikan bilis, home made sambal is a bit chunky, could be sweeter.

Cash only - there's an ATM in the food court or Westpac/CBA a short walk away.

I love the curry laksa noodle, the best in perth! Whenever I visit them, I try to order something else but end up with ordering the same thing .

19 Oct 2019 - 2 stars. Uncle Joe has retired and sold the business. Tried the egg sauce hor fun and hokkien mee today. The hokkien mee, which used to be Rochor Mee, has now been transformed to KL Hokkien Mee. Lots of MSG. Not so authentic.

27 Jan 2018 - 4 stars. Fantastic stall. Almost every dish is authentic, char kway teow, egg sauce hor fun, etc. Sambal Fried Bee Hoon is my favourite dish. "Sambal" is salted, fermented and spiced-up shrimp paste. The pungent and salty flavour goes well with the blandish rice vermicelli. Yum.

We had the Szechuan chicken ! It was really salty to to be honest a bit sickly to eat . Disappointed by this dish, and for that price I would not return .

I ordered the char kaew Teow take away for $12.50 from what I can recall. It was okay, lacked a bit of flavour compared to ones I've previously had.

Most authentic and delicious Malaysian food in Perth! It's easy to see why this place is the busiest in the food court by far as I've tried many of their dishes and am yet to be disappointed. Highly recommend the fried kuay teow, curry luksa, egg sauce hor fun and mee goreng; always our family favourites and worth coming out for.
Ilovebeansprouts
Favourites from this stall- Char Kueh Tiaw and Beef Rendang. Love the Fried Chinese Doughnuts with yam filling; a rare find. Mee Rebus isn't the best, but for Perth standard, it is good. Affordable prices for big servings; you'll definitely walk away filled up!

By far, this hawker stall in the Cambridge International Food Forum does the best char kuey teow in Perth! Has the Chinese sausage, plenty of "wok hei" - the charred flavour and plenty of spice from the chilli. Love it!

Quite authentic Malaysian hawker fare at relatively reasonable prices. Quick service too. Place is generally not crowded even during lunch peak hours which is a plus.
Connie
Best neighbourhood gem for Malaysian food. I tried char kuey teow from a lot of places but this is the best one! Another favourite of my comfort food is the egg sauce hor fun.
Josh Teh
The char kwey teow here is fantastic. It has to be the best place for it in Perth that I am aware of. It is in a food court however I will happily drive 40 mins for this feed any day.

Have only had the vege laksa from here but prob had a dozen times now take away and love it great value big serve and packs super flavour unfortunately does not come close to ones we got at markets in Darwin but prob best one i have tried in Perth.

Food is cheap and very tasty, especially the char kuey teow and beef rendang. I've often found though that they don't offer many dishes on their menu, I've tried a few times to order a few dishes and they've always been "sold out" even early in the evening... I find the staff rude also sometimes, I've stood at the counter waiting to order and they've literally just ignored me for 5 minutes while they text on their phone, it's not hard to say something like "be with you in a minute".

I’ve driven past here before but never visited so I popped by on Saturday afternoon for lunch. I was keen on the Paris Café, a French bistro, but they open for dinner. There’s plenty of food stalls to choose from so I had a look around and settled on Malaysian Hawker. After placing an order at the cash only stall, you take a number, go to the center and grab cutlery, find a table and wait. Your food is brought out to you. I started with lor bak which is like a sausage with a crispy crinkly skin. The pork filing is really delicious, especially with a touch of sweet chilli sauce. It also comes with creamy silken tofu with a lovely skin. Very tasty. I’m a real fan of kway teow and so this was an easy choice. Lovely soft noodles with Chinese sausage, bean shoots and prawns, I was hungry and it was demolished in no time. Yum. Takeway is also available and there’s plenty of food stalls to choose from (Chinese, dim sum, Japanese, Indian, Australian, French, and Singaporean), including a drinks stall. Plenty of free parking, lots of tables inside, if you’re looking for something different then it’s certainly worth a visit.

Been searching for authentic Malaysian food in Perth and I have came across with this place hidden in the food court. Ordered fried koay teow and fried rice, was really nice, although a little bit salty. Will come back and eat again! :D
Asian's Taste
Been here many times And one of us at least order from this restaurant.
This restaurant @food court so popular with their laksa and char kwe tiau..give it a go and you won't be disappointed.
I also tried their ba kuteh- which is good too.
Pork broth cook with some chinese herbs and lots of garlic, it's real good for this winter. Rather than I have to cook it @home and waiting have to wait for hours😄😄
Definitely, recommend this restaurant.

The service starts to be inefficient when business is busy. Your order maybe forgotten as we noticed others getting their orders before us even though we ordered first. When we inquired informed that order got lost etc. etc.

I asked the Chinese Lady at the counter what is their signature dish and she told me char kuey teaw and laksa. So, i opted for spicy char kuey teaw! It was Tuesday afternoon and there were not many customers, hence i just waited for a while for my food to be served! The char kuey teaw was authentic and delicious and portion was quite big for me. Anyway, If I happened to be somewhere or nearby that area again, definitely i'll be hopped in to that stall to have some good Malaysian food!

The Nasi Lemak is a $10 weekend special. The rice is worth a short trip though not a significant detour. The Mee Goreng is one of the regular plates and popular too. I'm not sure the inclusion of potato is a positive, but overall it's easy to like.
Aaron
Generous portion servings and their curry laksa and Char Kway Teow pay homage to the West Malaysian cuisines! Keep up the good work. I'll be back!

Easily the busiest stall at weekends! Awesome Malaysian food. Authentic and hearty. Nasi lamek eat your heart out

Absolutely- hands down- the best - Malaysian hawker food this side of KL. I went with my Malaysian colleague who introduced me to a few dishes - their Kuy Teow and this awesome tasting fried noodles with black sauce.

The thing is, at first glance, this stall appear tacky and dodgy. But avoid it at your own peril!

I have to agree with the other reviewers that the char kuey teow here is among the best in Perth. The stall is often busy with customers waiting to place orders. I have been here a couple of times usually on the weekends and have noticed that it is the busiest stall in the food mall. I like that they also sell some other Asian breakfast stuff like hang chee beng (fried chinese pancakes) available in both salted and red bean paste, different sorts of kuehs and also black glutinous rice porridge. I digress. I am here to comment on their char kuey teow. The serving size is good and they don't stinge on the beansprouts and chinese sausages. I ordered mine with a bit of chilli and it tasted awesome. It reminds me of the char kuey teows in Singapore. There is that wok hei taste to it that is often missing from most of the Asian places that serve char kuey teow. Now, I have to try the other dishes as mentioned by the other reviewers as I always go for the same dish each and everytime.

I love greasy noodles #4

There's nothing like coming here on weekends and ordering the dishes that are only served on weekends including Assam laksa, Penang Kway teow soup, Chee Cheong fun and char Kway teow with cockles.

The Assam laksa is guaranteed to get your sinuses running especially if you're crazy enough to eat the cut red chillies too. My favourite noodle dishes include the fried Singapore bee hoon with egg sauce, mee goreng and the char Kway teow.

Really believe this is the best char kuey teow in Perth. There's a true smokey flavour and the real "char"!!! Worth the short drive after going for a dip at City Beach!!

100% BEST Char Kway Teow in Perth !!!!
You can feel the 'Wok Chi'...suggest go for mid hot to give you better tast.
After 1200 will be very busy, so suggest go there around 1100 to have faster and better cooking.

Char Kway Teow was good. I also love the prawn noodle soup and the laksa from here. Good food and it come out very fast. Very busy on the weekend.
AngMohAsian
Char Kway Teow is as close to what I can get in SG here in Perth. Great wok hei. Just missing some cockles and lard. Almost there. Great price.

Curry laksa is always a hit. Tasty Tom Yum, Satay Noodles are also a must try. They are always busy, and I mean always. We have tried the Indian next door, but never went back . Although the Malaysian Hawker is awesome, I still prefer the Thai.
Jeremy
As authentic as you can get outside of Malaysia. Assam Laksa special on weekends is excellent!
Burgazzel
The absolute best laksa in perth! Hands effin down!!
Foodie_addictee
Too salty... Came here for dinner, pretty busy for a weekday. Ordered their famous Fried Kwey Tiau and Laksa. Kwey tiau was fragrant and delicious but it gets saltier and saltier as I ate it. If only they go easy on the salt/soy sauce, I'd love to return and eat this again. Laksa was good tho, the right amount of spiciness and creamy. I will come back and give their other dish a go..

Good, cheap, quick and tasty! We only order our mains from this stall.

Friday night I am at home eating takeaway on the couch, after a long week I am happily eating my noodles, dipping the dumplings in soy sauce. Rewind 30 minutes and I was at the Cambridge Forum food court ordering a feast to take home. Cambridge Forum is an indoor food court located next to the Wembley hotel, about a 20 minute drive from Perth CBD and a 5 minute drive from Subiaco. There are a couple of stalls to order from and diners can bring along a bottle of wine or beer. My two favourite stalls that seem to go hand in hand are Malaysian Hawker and Wembley Dim Sum. Paris Crepes is a new stall selling soft crepes and slowly cooked lamb shanks! Wembley Dim Sum This little dim sum place serves over 40 different varieties of dumplings at fairly good prices. Take a slip of paper, fill in your order and hand it over. Malaysian Hawker Malaysian cuisine, I often see the mother and father in the kitchen cooking up the food. Malaysian Hawker has been serving Penang food for over 10 years in t
