This is a decent convenient cafe with great views. I don't know if they're sure about how formal they want to be, with a cafeteria-looking section, a nice area by the fire with views, and a balcony. Some of the staff were nice. I had a good scone plus some drinks for a surprisingly reasonable price. If you start a long hike from Wentworth Falls early, you could arrive here at lunchtime.
After a long walk around Wentworth Falls, the Conservation Hut was a great treat. Location great, service lovel but food was pricey. However food seems generally pricey in the Blue Mountains. We enjoyed the soup, fries and milkshake! Would go back.
From "like" to "disappointment".... Food was good, view was lovely and all was going well until my friend expressed surprise and dismay that the requested changes to her smoothie (removing three ingredients and adding one serve of berries instead) cost an additional dollar on top of the $8-9 base cost (already high) when she'd actually removed ingredients.
Unfortunately the waitress ungraciously insisted that rather than swapping one ingredient and removing two others, my friend had "added". The cost quickly became irrelevant as the woman pointed out that the menu said additions cost extra. My friend protested that she'd actually subtracted ingredients but the waitress was rude, to the point where I interrupted to ask that we "please not make this unpleasant". Of course, she had to respond to that too and said she wasn't making it unpleasant, which was patently untrue - we would still have paid, but the same information could have been said nicely with a "sorry" and a smile.
Instead, it soured the entire visit for my international visitors and I was embarrassed by the service. I regret to say that although the place is lovely and the food was nice, the service was appalling and I wouldn't bring anyone else here in future.
