Review Crowded House Cafe - Williamstown

Great coffee (although could have been hotter) and delicious jam doughnut. The cinnamon swirl tasted pretty good too I am told!
Paul Azad
Great coffee, and very good breakfast. But don't come in the morning peak I'd your in a hurry as there was a constant stream of locals coming to grab a coffee

Lovely spot for breakfast/ brunch. Food and their coffee is good. The staff are SO patient. I witnessed a few people with Karen attributes and they dealt with these with grace. I commend the staff!

Beautiful outdoors area where you can bring dogs 🐕. Food was good and so was coffee! Shame they stopped doing "hollandaise" sauce as a side as it goes really well with salmon and eggs. Busy Cafe but staff was very attentive.
Bronson Blackmore
Great cafe with a cool vibe. Always busy but service never disappoints. Had poached eggs on toast, simple but tasty. Check it out, you'll love it.

Excellent coffee, friendly service and delicious food. Came across this place a couple of months ago when I was W’Town and decided to come back today for a quick breakfast and coffee. Their menu is simple but food is cooked to perfection. Hubby enjoyed his Margerita Cheese Melt Toast with Sujuk sausage and I requested an off the menu item “fried egg sourdough sandwich” which they gladly accommodated. Definitely recommend this place.

Enjoy coming to this cafe, it's popular with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Good coffee, good food and well presented. The avo smash is good, however for the price would expect to be served with two poached eggs. Extras are $4.90. It's a little pricey. But good food and vibes.

Great food with fresh and tasty ingredients. The menu is a creative interpretation of many cafe favourites. Food looks good and is presented beautifully. Staff are friendly and helpful. Sit inside or out. Walking distance from North Williamstown station.

Nice place for brekky, unless you feel like bacon and eggs as they don’t serve bacon lol. They do have some alternatives however.
Valina Whites
Had a tea and their salmon eggs. Food was delicious, well presented and reasonably priced, service was lovely. They are courteous enough to ask if it’s OK to have other people sharing at your table, which of course we were happy with, yet it’s nice to be asked! I then had an espresso and it was very good. I’ll come back!
Quince And Cheese
Stumbled upon this cafe on accident on a public holiday when he place I intended to go was closed. This cute cafe features an old cinema-style sign and large courtyard and lots of vegetarian/veganisable options. I tried my two go-to Melbourne cafe dishes, the baked eggs and the haloumi and veg fritters. Both were delicious and decently sized for the price. The fritters were extra crispy and topped with a delicious romesco and tasted nearly caramelised. The baked eggs were pretty standard but topped with a minted labna rather than feta or goats cheese, which was a welcome swap. Whether combined or enjoyed seperately, these dishes make a great brunch in Williamstown.

Coffee was great. The trout beetroot dish was perfect with all flavours blended in so well. Only the vegan BLT was a let down. It was too dry.

Got this place as a tip from people with dogs. They said you could go around the back with your dog to get to the courtyard. Perfect courtyard with sunny and shady spots. We had a veggie sandwich and the lamb salad (free range). Both were lovely. We both had an iced latte also. Total was just under $40. Definitely recommend.

Came to this lovely cafe today for early lunch and had the beef cheeks and the lamb shoulder. What a delicious meal to be had! I had the lamb shoulder salad, was such a balanced and lovely meal! We ate outside in the courtyard and it was such a great relaxing vibe. Highly recommend coming here and weather permitting sit outside. We also had a coffee and a soy chai latte.

Found this place by chance after a morning walk from Newport. Great location, absolutely tasty smoothie and mushroom dish. My partner and I shared the dish as we just wanted something light. A little pricy for the main if you are looking at the portion but that aside, the mushrooms were perfectly seasoned and the truffle oil definitely enhanced the flavour.
Thefifth_element
The mushrooms on toast were ridiculously delicious. One of the best breakfasts I've had in recent months. Delicious hot chocolate too and lovely staff. However I came here also to hide from the rain and the wind, and sat at the communal table where gusts of wind blew in frequently as people headed in and out and the door didn't close quickly enough. Apart from that this place is awesome.

Just when you wanted caffeine. Good food - mainly their nutty+ creamy muffins and fat burgers. Good people you wanna be friends with. Super rushy on weekends.

Crowded House is my favourite coffee place in Williamstown. Mostly I get take away coffee from here. It’s always very busy even at 7:00 o’clock in the morning with all the cyclists stopping for their morning coffee fix. The food is great too !
The Carbashians
A regular customer of this cafe; cannot fault this place. The owners are lovely, all the stuff very helpful and friendly. Coffee and food always consistent. Love the new menu; ordered the mushrooms on toast and the flavours were outstanding. Can't wait to try the brisket benny... thank god hollandaise has arrived. Would call this cafe one of the best in the western suburbs. Ever around the inner west and looking for a place to go for brekky or lunch. Definitely try crowded house !!
TheWhiteSherpa
Framily friendly place. Good service, friendly and relaxed. Had a smashed avocado and a coffee. Not bad, not remarkable either. Breakfast had lot of bread and one poached egg (the staff was kind enough to mention about it when I ordered). Would have done with one extra egg, a wedge of lemon on the side for the avocado and feta. Presentation was not inviting and could do with a bit more of work.
Nathalie Buratto
Lovely guys and two outdoor areas to choose from, the backyard being very quaint and peaceful. I love it that they use gluten free precinct bread and not the cheap cardboard that other places sell as gluten free bread. Eggs were poached perfectly. Coffee could be hotter but overall pleasant experience.
Foodloverwhojiggles
Such a great place to go! Team there is super friendly, the café itself is well nice and the food and coffee's amazing! I had the Smashed avocado and Meridith Goats feta and..Oh my gosh.. perfect balance of everything! I'd highly recommend checking this place out! Oh, and did I mention their coffee is amazing?
Eatable Melbourne
I visited crowded house on a Sunday morning. The place was buzzing with people and the smell of coffee filled the air. We were seated quickly and our drink orders were taken. <br/>Although the menu is small it has a decent selection of sweet and savory items as well as a lunch option after 11.30am. I tried the zucchini and corn fritters which were great. I added a side of salmon as I was quite hungry. The fritters were flavorsome with the chilli jam being the standout. The pumpkin and bean salad was also good, served with gluten free bread which left us full but not overly bloated. <br/>The service was relatively quick, staff were nice and the prices were decent.

Food and service was very good.If you want to avoid busy Nelson st this is a excellent option.Milkshakes had good flavour and meals came out promptly.<br/><br/><br/><br/>

Awesome place, great food, perfect coffee, amazing customer service. These guys are on the ball. I highly recommend. Great local and best in the west. No i dont work here
Alexandra
Over the many times I've been here the food has always been consistent and good. This place is usually busy with locals which is always a good sign. The staff can be a little hit and miss, even on a quiet day it seems to be really slow. I don't know if the idea is a relaxed vibe but having a warm greeting and a smile goes a long way.
Jawdn McCorkell
the chicken mundane, bland and utterly atrocious, the coffee was ok i suppose but i wouldnt suggest going there unless you dont really mind t

Williamstown locals are regulars here, because it's the best. Excellent food, fine coffee, comfortable, relaxed and homely atmosphere. Perfect for everyone, business meeting and family alike.<br/><br/>Couldn't possibly say a bad thing about the legends at Crowded House.

Just happened to be walking past the other day and decided to go in and grab a coffee and a roast beef sandwich to take away. Coffee was nice but the sandwich was disappointing. I honestly believe the sandwich tasted like it was sitting in the display cabinet for more than a day. Staff at crowded house and especially the chef please note, you cannot sell fresh sandwiches to customers if it's been sitting there on display for more than 24 hours.....

Crowded House, for some reason, keeps itself just on the fringes of Melbourne's brunch extravaganza. The menu is simple, without all the fancy fashion ingredients of nowadays. Coffee is good and the latte art is not too invasive. The premises look lovely and I'm really looking forward for a sunny, warmer evening to eat outside in the backyard. In conclusion, this place is a grey japanese hatchback, you know what you get and it's more than fine. I'll be back also because the service is very good.

Ordered baked eggs and the more generic poached eggs with kransky for lunch today. They were not too bad. The baked eggs were too watery in my opinion and the kransky while tasted delicious, I could feel the "process-ed" flavour rather too strongly. The portion were generous enough for the price and the bread were good. Not sure why they didn't have bacon a menu. The coffee was strong so some of you might like it more than the others. The ice chocolate though was better than the coffee, it was yummy with plenty of ice cream.
Eleftheria Kalantzis
Love the Smashed Avo. Very generous with the Avocado & the dukkah is delicious. I like to add mushrooms to give the dish a bit more variety.. but no bacon?? Really.. Was so disappointed. <br/><br/>Bring back the bacon
Jess Brown
My partner and I ate here this morning I had smashed avo and he had scrambled eggs with kransky both were delicious and very tasty , coffee has to be best in williamstown !! Service was fantastic from the moment we got greeted to our farewell , the young girl with red hair was excellent her bubbly personality and fast pace is what made our experience even better . For a good 5 min we watched as she run around with coffees and food , if I owned a restaurant I would definitely hire her , she's a star ! Everyone else was lovely and we will be back again very soon with our friends and family . Thank you

I've been a few times before but my experience today was less than average. Order 2 x flat white coffees and put together they would make one coffee. Both came out as half a cup. Not sure if they ran low on milk. Then order a pre made panini and it took so long coming out that my friend who ordered a cooked meal got his and was almost finished before mine came out. I would recommend going here as the food is good but not when there busy. It's a less than average experience.
Ben Renegar
Used to eat breakfast here every weekend for years, until they decided to remove bacon from the menu. Destroyed. Sadly no more reason to go back
Sarah Flemming
Amazing coffee and I always have the Avocado Smash with their delicious mushrooms. All the staff are very friendly and welcoming every time I have dined here.
Claire Bakker
Used to come here regularly and order the bircher muesli, but since the has menu change I have not been back. Most of the staff here are friendly except for one who is very rude and made Elisha Hodges and myself feel very uncomfortable. The restaurant is always packed which makes it hard to get a table. It also has a nice set up inside and out but can become very noisy with the amount of people who come here throughout the day.
Suzannechaouk
My favourite place for brunch, it's so hard finding another cafĂš to even compare. Generous, yummy and great environment.<br/><br/>Best smashed avo and baked eggs i have ever had.
Jessica
Amazing coffee!! It's literally a crowded house, they are always so busy with loyal and new customers. Had the zucchini and corn fritters but they no longer have that on the menu. The shanklish eggs on zaatar and the baked eggs in spicey tomotoes are also a favourite. They are very generous and passionate with what they do. Service is quick and the cafe is nice and cozy
Mrs West
Been here multiple times and would most certainly recommend!! The baked eggs are to die for, as is the coffee! I had the Greek lamb, saganaki and side salad! The notes of lemon were drool worthy but I must admit that it was needing some relief, maybe some tzatziki sauce would have worked well! Also, the barista is particularly lovely!
Alana Paige Norman
BEST smashed avo in Melbourne! hands down!!!! no fancy flowers or just half an avocado on the side of your plate like some places. Very generous serving, heaps of SMASHED avo with goats cheese and dukkah mmmmmm. oh and the bread is friggen amazing. p.s get a side of chorizo. YUMMMMMMM
Anna Lincoln
Used to like this place as food was great, now I don't eat here as very little on offer for vegetarians. Also the main barn of a room is a ZOO when it's busy, you can hardly hear your companions over the racket. They need to install some acoustic panels. Coffee is good but now I only go here if it's fine enough to enjoy the pleasant outdoor courtyard.
SiobhĂĄn Jones
This is a great cafe, definitely one of the best in Williamstown.  It's quite spacious inside, and has a fantastic courtyard which is very pram and dog friendly, and has lovely large trees to add shade and make it feel like eating in a garden.  The menu has variety, though I tend to order the same things which I like - at the moment the pumpkin, crab and ginger tart with pomegranate, preserved lemon and herb salad is really great, and the baguettes are always good.  Also the coffee is really good.  The prices are reasonable.  The best thing is probably the service, all the staff are so friendly, and attentive considering they are often busy.  They make people feel very welcome.
Jay Contor
I'm a massive wrap for the cosiness and the warm atmosphere of this place. The coffee is definitely a standout, and the young staff are always helpful - some of them have an element of fun which is always nice.<br/><br/>We had breakky there and both meals (smashed avo, and the big breakfast) were very tasty and sizeable for the price. Lunch options look really good too!
Anita G
Had lunch in the courtyard which was lovely for good weather - big trees and umbrellas to shelter from the sun if needed. Variety of table sizes too.<br/>I chose the lamb fillet with Middle Eastern flavours served with toasted pita and cous cous. Very nice. My mum had the tempura calamari with salad (OK) and my sister the pumpkin, goats cheese and crab tart accompanied by a gourmet mixed salad but minus the pomegranate unfortunately. Overall a very nice experience.
FOOD TRIP
Cute and cosy cafe with dining areas outside, inside and out back. Food is average at best, but didn't really enjoy their coffees. Wouldn't come back. Cappuccino $3.50. Super bitter. Had to add sugar. 3/10. Baba Ganoush on Toast with Poached Eggs, Candied Pumpkin, Pancetta & Watercress $16.50. (extra avocado $3.50)

Have eaten here several times and it never disappoints. Good coffee, good menu and service has always been efficient. One of my favourite local cafes.
Syaza Nadhirah
Lovely delicious food, good service and the cafe is good for a relaxed brunch. Especially the terrace in the back which was covered with trees that shade the area. Had the Steak Sandwich which was lovely! Meat was nicely seasoned and cooked perfectly. Coffee is brilliant as well. definitely would come back
Ceri
Had the Spiced Lamb with tabouleh, saganaki and pita here today and it was absolutely delicious. The lamb was cooked perfectly and even though the cafe was busy the food came quickly. I would definitely recommend this place.
Stefanija
Had the smashed avocado dish, it was delicious! Took a while to take my order but they were busy at the time and the very friendly service made up for it! Would recommend :)
Jack Spratt
Definitely worth the visit.  There's some good variety on the menu and typically good on flavour.  Service is often hit and miss.  It's very easy to get forgotten about here which is why i don't come back as often as i'd actually like so you need to make your presence felt to get served.  They use Di Bella coffee which is a good move given Di Bella does a good bean.  Usually pretty full inside and out so that's a pretty good indicator.
Lexie
Probably best coffee in Williamstown is here.<br/>We had poached eggs, they were perfectly poached.<br/>We sat outside, staff only came out once, so could have been more attentive because it was quite hard to get their attention without going inside.
Andrew Mateus
Just had an late breakfast @crowed house. The coffee was great, the baked eggs were great but my wife had smashed avacado were amazing!!! smiling staff and great vibe a must visit..
Sue Lester
Cannot get past the Smashed Avacado! All time favorite and it's absolutely delicious. This is accompanied by very friendly staff and I'm always served in a timely manner. <br/>Love it!
Laura Mercuri
Great vibe<br/>Great friendly staff<br/>Breakfast of roasted spice pumpkin is always a favorite. <br/>Have brought a friend along today and will be back. <br/>Back garden looks great too
Melborn&bread
Hard pressed to find a better brew in Willy! It's rich, consistent, hot and made just how we like it! I want one now.... "large extra hot latte to go thanks"! Staff are awesome.
Sith Lord Mills
Service is painfully slow. Coffee's took way longer than the food. My Melted Jack's had an unlisted ingredient that I wasn't expecting and can not eat so I waited longer for a replacement. Avocado smash is good apparently. Staff are nice so that's about the only good thing.
Dumba
This place is quite busy, but the service is very fast. The staff are really friendly and the place has a great vibe. The food is good, although could do with a bit more seasoning. Coffee is great.
Ms.rhino
Good for breakfast if your happy to settle for okay. Serving size is good but lacks that buzz you need to get you started for the day. Always annoying people out the front with their dogs makes the place less appealing. Coffee nothing to write home about.
Kate Dougherty
Very disappointing experience. Not only was the service painfully slow but the staff seemed disinterested and grumpy. Food wasn't much better either- all the dishes ordered were bland and missing listed components. We may have just been unlucky and visited on a bad day but to be honest I would be very reluctant to give it a second chance.
Maryann
Will never eat here again. Can't swap poached eggs for scrambled- are you kidding? This is so arrogant. I was told that I would have to have the scrambled eggs as an extra. Dear cook- What is your obsession with poached eggs? Crowded House- will be a little less crowded in future. There are plenty of other aced around that will rustle up a good brekkie.
Melbourneyum
Been here a few times the zucchini fritters taste great the hot chocolate was fantastic on a cold Melbourne day.good quality food. Its aw always busy here.this place also has kwak scrolls which I love
Jay Riley
What a joke of a cafe! Nearly every item on the breakfast menu has poached eggs! Tough luck if u don't like poached eggs! Apparently you have to order items without the eggs and then order a side of eggs! Your a cafe in melbourne! Pathetic!!! Scrabbled eggs are quicker to make than poached so what the waiter said about how they take longer to cook is garbage! Wait safe have attitude. Never go here again. Good luck!

Hmmm not impressed are the two first words to go through my head. I've been a local in Williamstown for over a year and this was always one of my favourite cafes to visit with family and friends who were coming around to see me and the new baby. Over the past year, things have changed from happy, pleasant atmosphere, good service and a variety of tasty menu options to overcrowded, loud patrons shoved in like sardines, forgetful staff (who look stressed, which is weird cause there's way too many of them for that), small servings of food and inflexibility with the menu. Brekkie tasted okay but I could make one just as nice at home and save myself $25. They wouldn't let me get scrambled eggs instead of poached. To build my own brekkie would have cost more than for them to just accomodate one little change. Annoying. The high chair was crappy and wooden, too large for my 6m old son (just spend the $20 and get the ikea ones like everyone else). Overall, meh. Won't be returning again.
JD
Came here for brunch. The service was very slow. It was pretty much all over the place and the waitress/waiter basically ignored us until we had to get their attention. I understand it was busy but people who arrived after us were getting served before us. It took 20 minutes for food to come out. They forgot my coffee and it came within 5 after I told them that I didn't receive it. Food was alright. It wasn't anything amazing. I had the smashed avocado. The toilets were pretty disgusting and weren't clean. The bins were overflowing with paper towelling. I probably won't come again anytime soon. Pretty disappointed considering my visit here last time here was enjoyable.
Sal
Really good
Craigdixon65
Too rude to overcome failings. Shame, because food, coffee and wait staff are generally good, but the hostile and shouty barista means we won't be back. Why give this ass money in a strip full of great options?
J
Bad eggs. Great coffee.....bad eggs. I had poached eggs and what ran out of them looked like water (lots of uncooked egg white) food looks great just make sure you ask for the poached eggs well done! Staff are attentive and friendly. I would go back for coffee only.
Stuck In Transit
Catch up’s with girlfriends are always best spent in a cosy cafe with a beautiful cup of coffee in hand. On a cool Melbourne day, our monthly catch up was at the Crowded House in Williamstown. There are two different areas available, either the indoor cafe or the outdoor space in the back (which is pet friendly). We opted for the indoor space as it was a bit too chilly out for us. It was quite busy when we arrived and sat at a large communal table near the front. Someone at the other end of our table had the daily soup, which looked absolutely perfect for the type of day it was. We both ordered the ‘Vegetable Chowder’ (13.50),  which was presented with four cut pieces of garlic bread. Definitely a great decision! The soup was tasty and so filling neither of us were able to finish the massive bowls we were given.
Mon's Adventure
It was a nice day, or as nice as Melbourne would get whilst approaching winter, so the pictures of Crowded House’s outdoor area enticed me to this particular cafe. You can go through the cafe, or as it’s located on the corner, enter from the back. The back looks almost like a shed, but as you swing the grungy door open, you’ll find yourself in a pleasant and open area.
Dustyblackcoat
Boring and underwhelming. The food ( smashed avocado) was quite alright, but the annoying hipster attitude of the staff ruined the experience.
Jemy2010
So underwhelmed by my breakfast choice on my first visit here. Don't know how something with saganaki as the main ingredient can be so boring. My husband ordered the corn and zucchini fritters and only got through about half. They were just too soggy. On a more positive note, the service was lovely, the cafe and courtyard are really nice, and the coffee is perfect. So I'd go back for coffee but that's about it.
Foodcomas
Service can be inconsistent at times but I still keep going back... I like to take my chances! Coffee is decent, avo smash is good, gluten-free bread is of quality. My new regular hang-out with girlfriends
Dimi
Baked eggs. Food and coffee both excellent and very well priced.
Adam
Macchiato. Awesome
Foxii_roxii101
Impressed!!!!. Love my coffee! Especially latte and they have the absolute best coffees in town you gotta try to believe. Never fail to impress me their service is tremendous always on top of it. A warm and pleasent environment they are the best cafe in the west. Im a fan of the smashed avacado ive tasted everything on the menu and they are delicious really love it they do a great job service and staff are friendly! Highly recommend! Go Crowded.
Melissa_montang
Love the smashed avocado!. Crowded House is our favourite breakfast spot! We live very nearby, and have been lucky to get a table without having to wait each time we've stopped by. The smashed avocado is my favourite, but the baked eggs are also delicious! Coffee is good, could be a little hotter in my view.
Hungry Meeko
One of the best places I have been to. Service and good quality is consistently amazing. I have been there in multiple occasions and I just love the atmosphere and the staff there are welcoming even when it is busy. Definitely highly recommended. Choose anything from the menu, I have tried almost everything and it is just delicious. Definitely one of the best coffees and chai lattes I have had in Victoria!
JR88
Let me break this one down....<br/><br/>Sat outside, no table service (somewhat excusable on a weekend?) so went in to ask for some menus..<br/><br/>Ordered coffees, they arrived and whilst we were ready to order our food the waiter turned his back to walk off. "Excuse me, sorry, can we please order some breakfast?" - at this point I knew this could be a potentially crappy breakfast experience. My coffee was a large latte and not at all executed properly - a mountain of bitter froth, milk that had been burnt and reheated then left aside to cool... It was like a dirty dishwater coffee. I will be honest in saying I have had worse, but still, not pleasant. No table water was brought to us but given to everyone else around us.<br/>Food... Well I ordered the Brioche lamb burger and politely asked if I could order a poached egg on the side. The gentleman waiter - still rather awkward (possibly new) said "sure" as if my request wasn't difficult or unreasonable. He then came back two minutes later to tell me "err, yeah we can't do a poach egg with your burger meal" to which I reiterated "oh, you can't give me a poached egg on the side?". "No, (pause) sorry". My partner had gone to the car at this point or I would've probably cancelled breakfast and left. I wasn't in the mood to be a pain-in-the-ass patron until...<br/><br/>Receiving our meals. <br/>The burger - the lamb patty was disgusting. It was over processed and had an artificial taste. The shoe-string fries were cold, stale and over fried inconsistently. Some were golden brown. I did however ask the waitress who brought our food why an egg on the side wasn't possible. She then said "you just want a poached egg on the side? Yeah we can do that, just not IN the burger. Yeah I can organise that for you". ARE YOU KIDDING ME? You serve all day breakfast - I would like to think its do-able. Furthermore the aioli was disgusting, mostly butter that hasn't even been well combined. It was the texture of whipped butter masked with lemon and chives. <br/><br/>My partners breakfast wasnt a complete disaster. The eggs were nicely poached and the flavour combinations okay as well as neat presentation. I will give credit where credit is due. <br/><br/>I appreciate not being charge for my poached egg. And we finally got our table water after making a point of taking up the table until we had to ask a third person to bring it. Some of the staff seem bubbly, friendly and competent... Some are, not on the ball, inexperienced, and not suitable for this line of work. <br/><br/>To sum it up - GREAT COFFEE AND GOOD TIMES? No, try to instil a little QUALITY CONTROL and CONSISTENCY. <br/><br/>I will be dining at Pickle Barrel and Leroy from now on.

Amazing!. This café would have to be my fav in the whole of Melbourne. Coffee is exceptional and the food is amazing! Staff are great and there's very little wait. Crowded house is definitely the way to go!
Jack Foodie
Really nice burger and has a great court yard
James
Great food, great coffee, great service. Got served by a lovely boy called Austin, who made sure our crowded house experience was perfect!
Brunchbubs
The only crowded place I like to be. This place is exceptional! I have been here over 30 times (sometimes just for a coffee) and they NEVER fail to impress! Their coffee is absolutely amazing, and you can tell they put a lot of effort into every cup- so far, this is the best coffee i've had in Melb (and let me tell ya i've had a lot of cups of coffee in this glorious city). Meals are always consistent, no matter how many times i've been I still struggle to decide what I want because each meal has a distinct flavour and unique flare. Always a lovely vibe, service is always exceptional and waiters are always friendly! A must try on the Melbourne brunch scene. Brunch bubs out xo
Sophie Cameron-Krepp
If you can excuse the staff's attitudes, the food & coffee might just be worth it!. Nothing like being rushed out of a cafe after a pleasant breakfast. The food was good, coffee good, but service actually just terrible! Rude waiter not only interrupted us while we ordered, but made us feel incredibly awkward by asking us to leave only moments after we'd finished the last bits of breakfast from our plates. I understand the pressure for tables, but you won't be getting us back as customers. Not impressed.
Jono Dolarhyde
Started off well, a young waiter took our orders and made sure our modifications to the meal were correct (always good), however once we received our meal the young blonde waitress spilled half of our fries all over the table and expected us to be fine with eating them. We then asked for more fries and from then on the staff seemed to be holding a grudge against us. They no longer checked up on our table or cleared our dishes. Onion rings were delicious, however the rest of our meals were just mediocre. Upon paying they tried charging us for the replacement chips and got bad attitude when we said the only reason we had them was to replace the ones she spilt. The place looks great, but I don't think I'll return.
Justin K
Best breakfast I've had in a while - great food, great coffee and friendly staff. Always seem to try for something different or a little extra which is a stand out. Recommend the eggs & avo smash
Shaz
Beautiful Food. This place is a little gem, beautiful food , great and fast service plus the coffee is to die for!! I would def go back !!! Plenty parking outfront and great views a few meters down the road.
Katrina Ablett
Best Menu I've seen in a long time. We happened across Crowded House on the weekend and it was one of the best thought out menus I've seen in a long time. Staff were friendly and made suggestions on what would be good for the kids. Water delivered to us as soon as we sat down. Food was delicious. Could not fault a thing. I would happily drive the hour or so it took us to get here just to come here for lunch.
Mairi Jackson
Stale pastries and bagels, inconsistent coffee and a sense of fake friendliness from some staff, but one of the best cafe courtyards in williamstown and a good chief
Stuart Moysey
Good Food mediocre service. Good was nice and reasonably priced however the service is unattentive and uninterested. We normally like to order a few drinks throughout the meal but it was hard to get anyone's attention.
Deavious
Lovely place, good food, just one criticism though: who dares to cut off the streaky/tasty bit of the bacon before serving? What sort of fascist would DO such a thing?! I managed to maintain composure before weeping outside in the street.
Greg
Nice space - one staff member quite rude. I think the space looks good and I enjoyed my pumpkin tart. My waitress was a delight but my friend and I found the man at the cash register was not very pleasant which certainly left a sour taste in my mouth after handing over payment.
Milly&Coup
Great bircher muesli and coffee. Friendly staff lovely environment.
Coffee Maverick
When I think of crowded house. I think of exactly that. A room packed with people with coffees flying through. But that's not a bad thing... That's culture as we like to call it. We dined outside in the garden... I had a beef burger. All in all a pleasant experience... Although the staff didn't smile and ask how my day was... And that particular day I had a great story to share that they didn't ask me about. Their loss! Anyway as get the burger and a coffee. Sure to fill you up! Love and peace. Coffee maverick
Bakingbeauty89
Great food, rude barista. I've eaten here a couple of times and the food has been great. However, I found the barista to be incredibly rude, loud and obnoxious. He shouted to customers across the cafe on more than one occasion and embarrassed one of the other staff members in front of me when they hadn't really done anything wrong. Very unprofessional and he will stop me from returning again.
KATco
The place is always packed when I drive past. Been there a couple of times. I don't get it. Average food. Passable coffee. Seems the recipe for success is a cool looking venue. Quality, service etc are optional.
Glenn
Didn't get to eat. Left before it came out because of the rudeness of the staff. One guy in particular. Get a new barrister and maybe we will think of coming back. Appalled
Sass.ita
Good idea gone wrong. The first time I came here, I found the food and vibe wonderful and was looking forward to returning. The second time was a horror show. <br/><br/>A long wait on a coffee, which finally appeared burnt with the tell tale skin of having sat on the bench too long, was delivered with a bad attitude. The politely requested replacement was when the real nightmare started. The barista practically threw the coffee on the table, ordered me to try it and see if it was 'good this time,' only to have him storm off and glaring at us like we were dirt. This 6 foot something bully then ignored me completely, preferring to carry on a conversation with friends and anyone around us, when I went to cancel the rest of our order and let then know we had no intentions of staying somewhere where we were treated in that way. I informed another gentleman, who had been the only accommodating staff member, of the situation and he apologized, but oddly did not seem at all surprised by the incident.<br/><br/>I did finally lose my cool a bit when the abusive barista then decided it was appropriate to glare at us as we left and I signaled through the window, 'Yes, you,' indicating he was the reason we were leaving. <br/><br/>I don't appreciate bullies, and I especially don't appreciate it as a paying customer. If a customer can't return a poorly prepared product, in a polite but straight forward manner, without copping abuse, then there is something seriously wrong. These things happen and it wouldn't have been a big issue, but unfortunately, it was made one. Who ever owns this establishment should be taking a long hard look at their staffing situation. A real shame as we were big fans of the place to start with. Never again.

Food okay for the price, although one of the waiters kept looking at me like he wanted to throw down. Wasn't just me who noticed either, very weird servi e : /

Coffee lover. I'm a regular at this place and love my coffee. They make a great latte and have nice friendly staff. These are some of the reasons that I come back, although recently I found a new staff member with a french? accent to be quite the opposite. He needs to learn from the other team members and smile and greet with a bit more enthusiasm!

Best Breakfast In Williamstown. Crowded House is quite possibly the best breakfast/lunch venue in Williamstown. Yes, sometimes the wait might be long and yes, sometimes you may just be served by an under 18yr old just serving their dues before they get a 'real job',.... But, you will not get better coffee and you will not get a better breakfast for a reasonable price until you hit Newport.<br/>This place is awesome and if you are too old to get what they are doing in there and too bitter to appreciate the quality of their coffee then there are many other venues that offer cheap/fast poor quality garbage.<br/>I really rate this place and as a regular tipper I am treated with just a little bit more respect. Maybe more punters need to take this on board and stick their hands in their wallets for more than just the money to pay the bill!!!!

Disappointing experience. After several walk-bys the last few weeks and seeing that it was a popular place to have breakfast, a friend and I decided it was time we gave it a go.<br/>The food was nice but a little pricey for what was delivered. I ordered the Smashed Avocado and Feta with poached egg and macadamia and lime dukkah. For the price, I would have expected two poached eggs and more than a sprinkle of dukkah.<br/>The service was quite poor (is a smile too much to ask?) and staff looked hassled when they asked for anything.<br/>Finally, the coffee. Again it was okay but I would have liked my latte a little stronger.<br/>Overall, I felt disappointed by Crowded House.

A real gem of a place. G.... A real gem of a place. <br/><br/>Great vibrant atmosphere. Wonderful menu with an exciting array of flavours. <br/><br/>The breakfast and lunch specials are as imaginative as they are tasty. <br/><br/>It's a great place to eat so peak times there can be a few minutes delay for a table but the owner gets you seated a soon as possible and knows exactly what is going on with each table so if he says. 5 minutes it usually is 5 minutes. <br/>The team there are curtious and very efficient. <br/><br/>A great place to eat.

Did not get to try anything. Very rude staff-particularly one member- admittedly we sat at a table for four when their was two of us but the only table for two available had one chair missing because a bigger table was using it and had also partially blocked the table. The staff member had no manners causing us to walk .The cafe was not full at the time and nor was it when we passed by after enjoying lunch further up the road. I'm happy I didn't eat anything there. The vibe gave me indigestion before I'd looked at the menu! Visit the Crowded House for a lesson in How not to treat customers.

Arrogant management. So I called about a month ago to enquire about reserving a table for 11 people tomorrow morning. I was told they don't do bookings, but at 11am I should have no problems and if we have to wait it will be "5-10 minutes max". I was happy with that. However called today to double check and spoke to the manager and was told there is only one table that can seat that many people and pretty much "don't bother coming in".<br/><br/>Honestly, this is not some exclusive inner city bar. It's a Williamstown cafe. As a regular diner here, I thought it might be possible to reserve a table for so many people. But if not, I understand if it's their policy not to take bookings. However, I don't appreciate being told one thing by one staff member, then dismissed by the manager the day before the event. <br/><br/>Really unhelpful and unnecessarily arrogant in my opinion. Won't be going back.
