Review Steam Packet Hotel Restaurant - Williamstown

Ryan M
Went here for lunch and had a nice spot outside. Nice pub and a good atmosphere. Prices for food and drinks were reasonable and quality was good as well. Decent pub grub.
Jack
Went there for dinner yesterday. Quality food, good price and good service. A little bit noisy but reasonable and overall was good, recommended.

Best place for lunch or dinner. We had a group of 20+, Col, Mary Anne and the team are just awesome. Venue, Food and Beers on tap were superb. Thanks again we will see you again very soon.
Griffin Zakharov
Had a meal here and it was a nice, cosy spot for a winter dinner. Portions were small though and didn't reflect on price, which was up there on the pub meal scale. Quality was also slightly under expected. Service and tap beers were quite good. May or may not go back.

Look I would probably come back because it was a mixed bag. The first lady that served me was friendly, nice and courteous. The runner was nice also. The 2nd lady that served me wasn't rude but didn't really engage. The food - Absolutely delicious could not fault it. The problem was it took an hour to arrive. Didn't notice because too busy chatting but if it's going to take a long time please let us know. Thanks.

As a tourist this spot is a beauty .. just around the corner from the main strip, & apparently it's haunted đź‘». Such a cosy good ole fashioned pub. It has been done up but still holds classic appeal. Yet to eat, but nice selection of craft beer etc

Came with friends on the Steak Special night. I don’t like steak but my friends do and they said they were great. I had the crispy pork belly - best I have had. Guinness to wash it down also excellent. Dessert was a HUGE chocolate brownie. What a night!
Leigh Woodrow
Really friendly, very cosy, lovely food and warm welcoming service. Lovely location too. Well worth the trip out of the city to enjoy the beautiful views. Lovely selection of wines to complement the diverse menu too.

Fast service, awesome Parmi (so many to choose from in Williamstown!) I also had the onion rings with chilli mayo and they were an exceptional treat. The biggest concern is they forgot to bring my beer after I had to order it so I remained thirsty for a few minutes longer than a man can bear ;) A little more pricey than what I would normally pay for pub food but the quality of the dish was worthwhile. It would be better if the schnitzel wasn't placed on top of the chips because having soggy chips in a $23 meal isn't really that appetizing.

late lunch. there was grest livr music. The mesl were a wee bit expensive but well worth it. Great stmospherre and like a traditional english pub. A hidden gem. Will go back again
Manda Jane
Food was yummy, staff very friendly and lovely atmosphere. I used to frequently visit this pub over 15 years ago, it was great to visit again after all that time!

My girlfriend and I are here for our Ghost Tour and the food is absolutely amazing. The fish was perfect and the pancake for dessert was perfect. I would absolutely recommend anyone here. Fantastic service and very friendly staff to boot.
Lyndon Best
Sorted out an error with our Reservation with the minimum of fuss and the rest of the evening was delightful. Food was lovely and reasonably price. Our 2nd time there and will go back again. Live music was nice but just a little loud.
Maggie Kavanagh
Really good food and service! Love it there, would highly recommend
Rosemary Geard
Great Staff, music was awesome. We didn't eat but have done so on other occasions and never been disappointed.
Dave Novotny
Great pub - good selection of beers, great food and awesome staff.
Christine McKenna
We attended the Steam Packet on Melbourne Cup Day with a small group. The food was tasty and well presented. However the portions were small. The atmosphere was quiet for the occasion and the promised Happy Hour was disappointing as the price was only 50 cents cheaper. We may return for a meal but not for The Melbourne Cup Day event again. The staff were friendly and efficient.
Jenny Egger
Great service food is always good chef is very accomodating. Oh and the onion rings are to die for.đź‘Ť
Sonia Anderson
Excellent food, fantastic service, such a great family friendly atmosphere with the best live music. Will be back again definitely.
Simon Murray
Great food at reasonable rates with great service and a fantastic wine selection
Chrissy Binney
Nice pub meal. Good dessert. Staff were great. Need a pool table
Ron Brown
Enjoyed the meal and the two beers. The others with me also enjoyed theirs and their wine. The service was excellent and no complaints what so ever.
Roberta O'Dea
Great breakdast at the Steampacket Hotel last Friday and Luke makes a great Double Expresso- always enjoy the way Friday kicks off at the Steampacket

Food was extremely tasty. We loved all the dishes. Paella was amazing. Great service and great prices. Will definitely be back. Nice atmosphere.

This is an often sort out local venue. The steak was worthy of a truck stop. Unsure if it was cooked badly or just plain rubbish. At $30 it should taste way better. Next time I’ll just send it back so hoping this was a one off.

Called in here for a pre dinner drink. The service was friendly and attentive.

I ordered a Founders Nitro Oatmeal Stout which was absolutely delicious. It was the perfect drink for a cool winters night.

They have a good range of craft beers and one of my favourite Pilsners on tap.

And with some live mush this just set the scene for a. relaxing night. This place is definitely worth a visit.

There are new chefs here who are Dishing up food which is well below average. My partner and I regularly would enjoy a meal and a wine here but as of our last two experiences to be frank have been an absolute joke.
My first bad experience was the seafood paella. I ate a little to my disgust as I think the chef dropped a full container of keens curry into the dish. I returned the dish not expecting anything or replacement but maybe an offer of a refund
would have been appreciated. I was offered $6 off the bill.
The chefs need to stick to chicken parmas and chips and not try anything more involved as they obviously have no idea.....
We came as a small group from work for our Xmas lunch. The menu looked great with lots of variety and decent prices. What came out was a total shock unless you remember fondly how great pub food was back in the 70s. I ordered the steak sanga which they state is medium. Minute steak with lots of gristle which was over cooked but not as tough to chew on as the burnt focaccia it was served on. Speaking of burnt, the egg was. The Parma’s were a decent size but burnt on the bottom. The beef salad was a plate of lettuce mix and olives and a few beef strips on top. The veggie burger looked good but only the burger. The bun was yet again burnt. The paella looked ok but I can’t comment as I don’t eat it. The service was great though. If you don’t come for the food, it’s a pretty good pub.

The atmosphere of this place is good. Beautiful old pub. The food was good. The service was disappointing, considering the place was not packed.
Brendan Quinn
Went last night for trivia (which was great). The food, however, was generally disappointing. Of note, they charged us an extra $1 each for tomato sauce and mustard to go with a parma/chips and steak. Never been charged for tomato sauce with a parma before! Additionally, the size of the calamari salad was mediocre; had to order an extra bowl of chips, which was also remarkably small in size. We’ll go again for trivia, but we’ll eat elsewhere beforehand.
Jo Shmo
Had to wait 30 minutes for someone to give us the menu, then another hour for the food. Poor service and average food. Won't be back any time soon.
Wing Chan
This is an old country style pub, the interior and decoration are quite old style. It was very quiet when me and my friend went there, I guess it might be because we went at lunch time? I have this Aussie Taste Plate, it included kangaroo, crocodile skewers and emu burger. They are not very tasty, but something unusual to try.
Shez
Great homely, very welcoming, traditional pub with a good menu with lots of options. Friendly staff, inviting bistro on a cold Winter's day. Décor a bit old - couches at the front as old as the pub but a minor thing.
Geoff
1836 wow that's a long time and they need a point for that alone. Guinness on tap. Calamari rings light and soft and tasty. Booked out for the Rugby Test so a mixed bag. Come via the ferry from Southbank and work up an appetite on the voyage. Don't come for the food though it's fine for pub grub. Williamstown is gorgeous and historically authentic and a maritime centre. It survived the post WWII 're-development'
The Dear Luncher
During his younger days The Dear Luncher used to frequent The Packet quite a bit, but not for food. It was the place to be for young folk Willy/Altona folk back in the day. Well it's still the place to be in 2017 from a culinary point of view, says The Dear Luncher. It's been decked out rather nicely, plenty of variety on the menu. The Packet Burger was rather nice, and the paella was tremendous. Kid friendly, great live music in the background and an excellent range of beer. The Dear Luncher's eyes lit up when he saw Hawkers Pale Ale on tap.
Giorgio Barcaiolo Battaglini
Very very good pub food. And good beers with a wide selection. But I asked my t-bone medium rare and it was medium, although it was very tasty. And my friend found a couple of hairs in the paella. Anyway, this place deserves a good score, small mistakes can happen, especially in a fast paced friday. (The paella was redone, btw). We will be back for sure.
Obrzyk
Great food, wonderful craft beers, and generally a nice vibe! New ownership are improving quality of food and doing a great job with customer service. Oh and $6 pints.
Nada
Perfect pub to have a few drinks. Parma goes alright but I actually prefer the seafood basket. Much better value. Great pub and attentive staff.
Claire Bakker
Ordered the chicken breast and the seafood paella here with Elisha Hodges. Good food but wouldn't come back as there are better valued pubs around and the steam packet isn't anything too special. The desert was moist and quite a large serving. The customer service was good and the restaurant was nicely set up.
James
Fantastic, would be my regular if I lived slightly closer, though I try to stop by a few times a month. Im originally from the UK and this place always makes me feel like I'm back there. Great menu, huge portions of delicious pub grub and fantastic tap beers - they always have something new I love (in the last few months - kung foo rice lager and hawkers IPA are stand outs) perfect for a Sunday afternoon meal. Consistent service, they absolutely know what they're doing. Recently a pokestop so I'd rate it even higher than a 5/5 if I could, as much as that embarrasses me.
Marsmuncha
Visited on a busy Monday night. Great atmosphere and attentive staff. Not only did they have Specials (under $20) but they also had $13.90 Extra Specials (Mon & Tue only)! Servings were good and food was tasty. Classic Pub menu which read and was priced better than most. Definitely be back to try out Steak night!
Allyoucaneat
Apart from the parmigiana every other dish we tried was below par. The apple crumble desert was so bad a high school food tech student must have been working in the kitchen
Dani R
Another good pub in Willi. Service was good, as was beer selection. Top notch grub at reasonable prices. Recommend the seafood basket, nice crispy batter and very fresh seafood. All 8 of us at the table were very impressed. And no disrespect Ms.rhino but I liked the music very much indeed!
Ms.rhino
Great pub for a few quiet drinks. Beers are cold. Menu looks great although I have not sat in for a meal here as yet. Have been told their meals are delicious. Music choice questionable. Laid back vibe.
Jenny Hinton
I've just eaten here with friends & ordered the Fisherman's Basket with vegetables. It arrived with chips & salad. When I queried this the waiter apologised & took it away. He then brought it back exactly the same & said I would get veggies as a side. I had finished my meal (minus the chips & salad) & still hadn't received any veggies. After my plate had been removed the side of vegetables finally arrived with apologies & comments of "We'll give you a deduction off the bill". Yes, i was given a deduction - of a measly$3. I'd specifically ordered vegetables & would not have ordered the fisherman's basket if I couldn't have them. Will I dine here again? Definitely not! And I Iive locally! I would rather spend my money somewhere that treats it's diners appropriately!
Been a few times and has progressively got worse. Greasy but ok good for pub fare. Worst of all is the most horrendously rude staff. Unlikely to return.
Emily Goddard
Great local. I moved to the area fairly recently and have been to the Steam Packet twice for a meal...and will keep coming back! Food is great, well priced, lovely clean hotel, good wine list and the service is friendly and attentive - even when busy. What more could you ask for from a local?
Gillian Cassar
Food is always fantastic and very reasonably priced. Unfortunately they don't cater for lactose intolerance, not even soy milk available for coffee!
Parma Daze
The Steam Packet is supposedly haunted - The story goes that an Opera singer who was there killed himself after losing his voice, If you want the full story there is a Ghost Tour that runs through Willy, which comes with a meal at the Packet - h

Great Food and Service. I celebrated my birthday here with family and friends and had a very enjoyable time.
I had the Duck which was excellent. My sister had the steak sandwich which she enjoyed.
Everybody else also enjoyed their food. The staff were great.
CoolHandLuke
Very happy with our pub experience here, we dined for lunch with a group of 5, the staff were very welcoming, attentitive and helpful with the specials options. This is a nice classic pub on a corner, clean inside and with the live cricket on it kept the boys of the group happy as!
The food all came to the table at the same time and the portion sizes were great value for money and didn't lack in flavor or presentation. Will defiantly come again next time were visiting Williamstown.
Jengarcia
Great pub for a family meal.. Enjoyed a lovely lunch with family including two small children. The food was good quality and came out quickly. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend it for a family meal.
Thinspaghetti
Came here for the first time - great, hearty meals that came out fast, and friendly service. Could do with some more vegetarian dishes, otherwise a winner.
Ash22
Nice food good atmosphere. Had a nice family meal here 2 adults 2 kids all of our mains were good. Nice relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. only wee niggle you have to ask for everything, drinks, orders, pudding. When you ask its served quickly and well.

Great little place. A great little pub with excellent meals. We have been back too many times to mention.
Pollis_8
Everything in one go!. Ordered entrees and main meals. I was expecting the entrees to come first but to my surprise everything came out at once! it was a BIT hard to eat everything
Phrostyboi
Always great food and friendly. Always love coming to 'the packet' for lunch when I can, really nice small selection of good beers on tap and bottled, plenty of classics to choose from and some different items too, the parma's are always lovely as are the curries and pork belly
staff are always friendly and accomodating and the place has a great vibe to it
Nigel Keenan
Great for lunch. Dropped in for lunch with my folks on a sunny Sunday, being a block away from the shore front means the place isn't heaving and instead we could enjoy a great family lunch (the size of the servings are large) of good gastro pub grub meals at a decent price and really friendly warm service. Will happily be back to try again.
Gravy Lover
.............. Meh. The pub is nice it's looks fine and had a great vibe about it...but that's where it stops !! Me and my friend ordered two starters and two mains,
Aranchini balls and house made satay chicken skewers on these tiny little off white old side plates with a bed of roquette underneath? (Pointless) the Mediterranean salad was limp and over dressed and my Greek style Parma ( I know it's just a Parma but let's get the simple things correct before we start changing it around
Alan's Opinion
Great Place But Greasy, Greasy!!!. Lovely old hotel, great service and most of the menu was al-right but!!!
Everything fried was yuk, greasy????
From the Onion rings which we left unfinished to the $29.00 Ocean Catch Special which was
virtually untouched, Greasy, Greasy, Greasy!!!
Calamari was like leather in both the entrée and the Ocean Catch Special.
And of course greasy, greasy in the entrée!
In the Open Souvlaki the salad tasted gritty and unwashed, sad but true.
Other than that the place was good, just a bit more attention to detail.
Melissa_montang
Our favourite pub in Williamstown!. Not only do they host a hoot of a trivia night, but all of the meals we've had at the Steam Packet have been great! I love the parmas (especially when the special Mexican Parma is available) and the open lamb souvlaki is a winner, too!
Robhunto
Took French visitors to the Steam Packet - good choice!. Had a great meal last night. Food impressed us and our visitors, service was good, nice ambience and didnt break the bank.
Traveler
Great little pub. One of my favourite little pubs - ever. nice atmosphere. great beers. nice wine list. interesting and delicious food. and decent prices. love this place. miss it since we moved further from williamstown.
Grimmie
Well worth a visit. Wonderfully warm inside on a winters night. 3 of us shared a Cob loaf as a starter and we had the pork belly, bacon wrapped chicken breast and duck breast. The food was really enjoyable and portions were certainly generous. There was no room left for desert which at $75 for three, not including drinks, was excellent value. The staff friendly and attentive. I will be eating there again.
Lindsay
Nice spot for pleasant week day lunch. Following a walk around historic parts of Williamstown, we chose the Steam Packet Hotel for lunch. The staff were very friendly and helpful; service was prompt; food was good. A very pleasant experience.
Tanterlize
Always good.. We have dined here many times and often brought friends along. Consistently good service and great meals.
Legend
Outstanding again! Scotty you know what hospitality is all about!
Riana Fox
Excellent. We went there for lunch yesterday, it was deliscious. We all enjoyed our meals. Highly recommend the seafood paella and salted calamari. Also try the vanilla brulee, absolutely deliscious. The only thing that wasnt to fab was the beef wellington, however that is hard to perfect in any restaurant.
Mairi Jackson
Great atmosphere, decor, food and drinks selection, not much more to ask for. The excellent Thursday night quiz and steak offers is the perfect bonus
Tore
Friday lunch parma can't be beat.
Ally
Great food & fantastic service. Would highly recommend this place to everyone
KJW1983
Love the food! Eat here quite a bit and every time with out fail it's amazing! Monday and Tuesday has a cheaper menu with selected dishes ranging from $12.90 to $14.90 which always has the variety and good quality meals!
Elena Iliadis
Amazing food!. We ordered the seafood paella and barramundi. The food portions were very generous and the food was delicious. Would definitely recommend.
Kieran.farrell
Fantastic. Table service was spot on, we felt welcomed and had a great experience. We had the biggest piece of fish on the planet and it tasted succulent. I can't recommend the Steam Packet enough.
Kaijo1
Can't cook steak. I ordered a medium steak, I was given a well-done. The replacement steak was medium-well. Don't bother with steak here they don't know how to cook it. My partner got a pip in an olive, in the paella. Just no attention to detail. Management apologetic when pushed - some wait staff defensive! So Disappointed.
BamBoo
Don't change a thing!. We have been to 'the packet' for dinner many times over the past three years, both as a family and with friends, and we love it.

Its a classic, modern little local pub. A geat menu with absolutely something for everyone. The food is always well presented and nicley done, no matter how busy they are. Service is always friendly, efficient and welcoming.

The atmosphere, decor, lighting etc is spot on. Its cosy, clean and welcoming and its good value. This is what a friendly local pub is all about. Great job by owners and staff, it is always our first choice for a pub night out for dinner.
Steve
We had an early Sunday night dinner and found the menu varied and the quality very good. The waiting staff were very friendly too. Will definitely be going back.
Fat Ally
On Track. Definitely on track again after a few shaky months or so. Quality and pricing of the meals has improved and we will add this back onto our list of regular favorites if quality can be maintained.
Naiker
Good Food and Good Service!. I came with my family and we ordered the Parma with Greek Cheese or something, Chicken Breast and I had the Lamb roast. Food was amazing. It's pub food with class. Great taste and well prepared. The only criticism I have is the lighting. If the lighting was a little brighter so I can see my food would be much help to admire the arrangement on the plate.
Service is good as well. Staff are friendly, welcoming and accommodating.
To top it off, the sticky date pudding is a MUST HAVE! One of the best I’ve had.
I will definitely be back
Little Foodie
Amazing food! Not your ordinary pub grub, this is special! Recommended souvlaki, salt and pepper squid salad, well everything came out looking amazing and tasting even better!
Just_a_guy
Had a really nice veal schnitzel with a few roast veg on the side. For around $20 was great.
2 Little Pigs
Close to what it once was.. Once upon a time the Steam Packet was great and we would eat here regularly but the it went really bad. A few changes of management later and it is getting close to being as good as it once was. The food is pretty good but maybe they are just trying a little bit too hard to make it fancier then it needs to be. The pumpkin gnocchi was good.
Outnabout
Nice Food. We often go the Steam Packet for lunch and always find it a good experience. I like the steak and my hubby the parmas, we have never had a bad meal there yet, we are happy customers
Jennifer Midgley
My partner and I love the steam packet, we often refer to it as our "local" despite not living anywhere near williamstown, (from Northcote ) however we are always happy to travel to enjoy a delicious meal, I've never been dissapointed , my all time fave would have to be the chicken breast wrapped with prosciutto, with roasted potatoes, caramelized onion, roquette leaves and topped with salsa verde, it's so yummy and for only $20 you cannot go wrong! Staff are always friendly too!! Keep up the good work
Terry
Just ur typical run of the mill pub ate thete the other day got the imfamous parma.in in the toilet for a day got gastro.wonder if the chef washed his hands. Although i had a bad experience.still a popular hang out.would not recomend.might try the new kids on the block next time
Aye Non
Over hyped food fair at best. Do beter elsewhere.
Rebecca
Great atmosphere, delicious food at a great price, good service. Steam Packet Hotel will be one of our regular restaurants.
Syropae
Love this place. This place has great food and a good atmosphere.

Its wheelchair accessible which is really good for my friend that we go out with alot for dinner.

There aren't enough vegetarian options on the menu but I'm always happy with the gnocchi, and the onion rings are incredible.

It's nice that its kid friendly, though sometimes that can be frustrating when you go in and kids are running around everywhere screamining and causing a ruckus, but to be fair that's not so much the establishment as it is parents...

Good place, good food :)
Jack Smith
With an Indian chef you'd think the curry of the day would be a safe bet - sadly not. Chicken curry with more barely cooked green capsicum than chicken! And my wife's risotto drizzled with something resembling HP sauce are you serious, in risotto? Great pub atmosphere but instead of trying to cook 25 things (poorly) why not concentrate on doing 10 things really well?
Grant H B
Again disappointed , after the first we went for Sunday afternoon bite ,cold food raw Parma , thought we would walk back up the street , bar service slow , food very poor quality . As willy resident time to find a new pub , to the owner of the pub you gave it a go time to find something else to do
Britt
Nice spot. I was happy with the calamari salad, and my partner was happy with the flounder. A good pub meal on a cold day. Nice and tidy place with friendly staff.
Lekker
Squeezed us in, without a booking,on a Friday night. Atmosphere was good and the staff was attentive and pleasant to deal with. Open lamb Slovaky was nice but the parma's looked delicious. Draught beer selection was a nice surprise. Really enjoyed the experience.
Sarah Harper
If only the service was as good as the meal. I visited the steam packet hungry as ever for a good steak. Well at least one thing turned out good, and that was the steak. However the hurdles I had to jump over to get the good steak were probably not worth it. We hasn't booked so we had to sit on a high table which was rather uncomfortable. We had ordered two Cokes straight up with the waitress which took a good ten minutes come out and when they did they had hardly no syrup so it was like drinking flat coke which I've had melted ice in. Was terrible. We then had to wait a good 25 minutes for service. Whilst waiting another solid forty minutes for our food to come out we thought we'd try our luck with two more Cokes, and obviously we had striked out. We got the food it was great, but then once we had finished eating we had to ask the waitress to clear out table about fifteen minutes later and at the same time we asked for the bill and needless to say, I'm sitting here writing this twenty minutes after asking for the bill.

Overall the food isn't worth waiting that long for.
Jane Anne
Great Service. Turned up with a larger group. The man serving us went out of his way to accommodate us, which was great considering it was a busier night along Nelson Place.

Good atmosphere, a warm pub feel but kept well. Great for a relaxed, casual meal with a refined edge.
Sweetie Pie
Not quite sold on the steam packet. Heard lots of good reviews from friends but I only found it so so overall. The food was okay, but the dining area very small and overcrowded. Service was attentive but I just wasn't sold overall. Not sure if I'll be back.
Jade
Good find. Great food and atmosphere, reasonable prices, will keep coming back!
Dale Culpin
If you want to go there during the week on a working day forget it. They are only interested in tourist dollars to provide a service. Top dollar for average meals. Better places in Willy.
Mon
Went here last night for the first time and super impressed. Was my birthday so 15 of us in total. The service was speedy, every single person thought their meals were awesome and also well priced. One of the best pub meals I've had in a very long time and we will definately be back!!
Cumzon Command
Overall we were very pleased with our experience.Food was above average, not outstanding, but atmosphere, decor, prices all add up to an enjoyable pub meal.
Amber Buse
Meal burnt and average service. We enjoy going to the steampacket esp with our young family and older relies. Our pork belly meal served up was burnt and very disappointing. Two glasses of wine were delivered to the table well under the standard drink line. One glass you could believe, the other was at least one finger under the line. Just being tight and to be honest the wait staff were rather anbrupt.
Clinton Forster
Aaagh! 3 James squire beers! Mountain goat steam ale AND a guest craft beer tap! Food looks amazing, I will be back to try it!
PoleDancer
Good food, bad service & very loud. Although the food here was nice, the service I received last week was not good. It started with being given the wrong bottle of red wine (I ordered their "special" which was an Australian wine and ended up with an NZ wine). Then getting the waiter to even look at us after we sat down so we could order something was a chore and for the rest of the evening the staff made it look like our rather large group was inconveniencing them. Plus the noise in the full dining room was horrendous - so loud. The food was not worth putting up with the rest.
Sh Gh
It was our first time and we really linked it. Warm atmosphere, friendly and polite staff and delicious food with nice presentation.
Ed Cook
Great pub. Fantastic steak, friendly service, worth booking as it gets very full. Been living in Willy on and off for 4 years, interesting how the pubs wax and wane in terms of quality. The Steam packet would have to be pick of the bunch at the moment.
David Radford
Nothing's changed. As good as previous times never a bad meal had here one of melbournes great pub feeds

-----10 Jul, 2012-----

Great variety. 3rd time there and didn't disapoint plenty to choose from and service is fine best pub feed in willy
KatieWH
History and good pub grub. Beautiful old pub with big meals at modest prices. Warm and friendly service and a long standing popular local.
Trivia nights are fun.
Tim
Honest Pub. We (4 adults & 3 kids) were searching for a nice old pub for lunch and a pint. Luckily I had parked near the Steam Packet and we decided to give it a go as it looked quite promising. We were not disappointed. A nice interior with a warm and cosy feel. The meals were great. Steaks were cooked well, the duck was nice, the goat curry was apparently 'chutney sweet' with some spice and was enjoyed. All in all we enjoyed lunch. Keep it up Steam Packet, Williamstown needs a good pub and you delivered.
Phoebe Rothfield
Worst customer service I've ever experienced, took them 30 minutes for them to even ask us what we wanted and we never got asked how the meal was, if we wanted dessert or if we were done. Won't be returning
WilliLocal
Pub Grub. Simple pub grub, mostly edible but sometimes not quite.
Forget weekends: the bouncer at the door tells the story...
Josh
Always great. Took some friends from Germany to the Steam Packet last night as they wanted good Aussie food rather than something they can get in Europe. Had the Barramundi and Parma respectively. They loved it :) I had the Gnocci which was delicious (better than I had in Italy). Servings generous, staff attentive and price very reasonable. I realise that most reviews are when bad things happen as more people are driven to complain than compliment, but when people compliment a place, it holds better weight with me. 10/10 SP. Keep up the good work
Sp
Decent parma. Went for the parma. It was pretty good - thick breast, not too much cheese, enough ham & sauce. Chips were a bit salty though, but overall... pretty decent.
S2 Art
Pub, grub. Our order consisted of Flounder, [the special] and Chicken Breast, both cooked quite nicely. Nothign fancy though just good wholesome pub grub.
Lauren.as
Hmm. I had high expectations of the Steam Packet after hearing great reviews, the food was average I ordered the lamb (over-cooked) on a mash, I honestly think I could have cooked better myself, however the staff seemed friendly enough and the parma my partner ordered was all the things you look for in a parma, thick chips, real chicken, rich napoli and gooey cheese.
In all, an over priced pub, stick to the parma!
Robotic Taste Machine
Couldn't agree more with Fire in the belly. A great pub, and you can't walk past the $11.90 meal.
Kano
Went here on sunny Sunday arvo... Ordered a few dishes off their "nibbles" menu, food was excellent! Also had a good range of beer on tap
Fire In The Belly
Great pub feed. Have been to the packet on numerous occasions and never leave disappointed. quality food at a reasonable price. i always gauge a pub on how well they do a parma and the packet ticks all the boxes, nice fresh breast of chicken, homemade crumbs covered with herbs and spices, crunchy chips and a tasty dressing on the salad. also is worth a look for there 11.90 menu mon-fri is a good way to work your way through the menu at a cheap price. Good decent pub grub
Eat-O-Matic
This place is effing awesome. Will be back over and over. Can't believe I never heard/found it earlier. Do yourself a favour.
Iceman
Haunted Legend.... Was at the Packet for lunch a while back. The food was good and well priced and the beer was cold. I opted for the Chicken Breast which is unlike me as I often find Chicken to be quite dry, but it was superb, especially with the accompaniments. The service could afford to lift a little, but overall this Willy (haunted) legend comes highly recommended.

Honest, yummy pub-grub at reasonable prices.. What a nice surprise!

A group of us dined at the Steam Packet last night after becoming disillusioned with another Williamstown pub, which has upped its prices to exorbitant levels.

Typical pub vibe (with your locals at the bar), but with a slightly atypical, yet comforting food menu and reasonable prices. Gluten free and vegetarian options are clearly labelled and there's enough variety to keep everyone happy.

The nachos that we all shared were demolished within minutes and my chicken breast was DEEEE-Licious (a view that was shared by the rest of the table about their own meals).

Can't wait to go back.

Good pub food. Staff very accommodating and happy to change the menu a little to please fussy kids. They brought my son two huge glasses of milk, made him v happy. The $11.90 meals are great value. We went there twice last week!
