Review Saint Lucia - Windsor - Windsor

Such a cosy little gem on Chapel st. Fantastic flavours and great menu selection. Tapas style, so great for sharing dishes with friends. Staff are super friendly and offered great advice on the menu and advised us that we were about to order way too much food for 3 people. Will definitely be back again!

Loved the service and food here! Everything came out promptly, was delicious and our server made us feel so welcomed! They also had a back courtyard that would be great for the summer! My suggestion for management is to fix your toilet locks! šŸ™ˆšŸ˜¬ Apart from that, a great vibe!

We were craving some of the jerk chicken we had in England so we went here. Saint Lucia is fancy, reservation required unless you get there early. Meals are expensive but decent sized mains. Sadly, the jerk chicken was not as flavoursome as those I had in England from the Jamaican food trucks.

The food here was delicious! A Caribbean themed menu with modern twists and fun options. I couldn't help but sneak bites of my friend's dishes, the deep fried Mac and cheese bites were a fav and my soft shell crab taco was a stand out too. The jerk chicken was spicy, so be careful if you are not used to it. Service was so friendly and attentive. We came as a group of 9 and we all left happy and very well-fed. Will be back!

We went their last night for my dad's birthday. It was... AMAZING. First of all, the staff were so nice and let us bring a cake in and added sparklers and even sang a bit. Customer service on point. The food was so delicious, their ribs are to die for. I recommend the chicken jerk, plantain chips, macaroni doughnuts, and rum! The restaurant has a great atmosphere too, with great music. Loved the dancehall tracks. 10/10 recommended.

Food was quaint and tasty but it's more about the "trendy factor" great if you're purely after something a bit different though if you want a good meal and atmosphere there are plenty more at that price point. Price was medium to high. Considering what was provided I think value wasn't great. But staff were very nice.

Burgers were pretty tasty but the gluten free bun had been defrosted but not toasted, no issue with defrosted GF bread, it was just obvious given how cold and hard it was and should have been toasted. Service at the register was also delivered by a competitor for the most disinterested person on the planet who didn't even initiate an interaction, and was picking his teeth while taking our order.

Amazing service, atmosphere and food outta this world! We rocked up on their first birthday. Balloons and decorations everywhere. Each balloon had a piece of paper attached with a mystery prize written on it. We got a complimentary cider and Hawaiian beer. The waitress also gave us free watermelon mojito jelly shots which tasted like cocktail heaven. Such lovely and genuine staff who made us feel more than at home. We will be back SOON. A wonderful experience all round. šŸ¤—šŸ‘šŸ½

Probably a great eat-in restaurant, but they should rethink their presence on delivery services like Deliveroo. I was really excited when I found some Caribbean food on Deliveroo, so I ordered and awaited my delivery with excitement. I ordered some Pulled Brisket ($20), and Slow Roasted Goat Tacos ($18), both from the "Larger Plates" section, as well as some starters. The total order came to $58 + delivery fee - reasonable, I thought, for two people's worth of food. When our order arrived (very promptly), I was proven wrong. The $20 brisket was less than 1/2 cup worth of dry meat. No sides, no accompaniments, and definitely not a "larger plate". The $18 goat tacos were tasty, but again the serving size was less than 1/2 cup worth of meat, and 3 tortillas with a meager amount of pickled veg. Not enough to call a "larger plate". The sweet corn from the grill was dry and pretty flavourless, but I would chalk this up to the (short, but probably trafficky) delivery distance. The Smoky Roasted Cauliflower was pretty good, but again a small amount, even for a starter. On the whole, I definitely won't order delivery again, and would need to be convinced to visit in-house.

The food at This restaurant is quite enjoyable and tasty. The cerviche, ribs, corn bread were all quite memorable. If you want a nice resto with a bar feel with a decent selection of rum, then this place is for you. However, if you're looking for something that's reminiscent of St Lucia, the nation, for a cultural experience then this is not the place. The only thing that you could identify was 1 small flag and 2 bottles of Chairman's Reserve. Even as something that's meant to have a Carribean feel, it was lacking. For feedback to the Resto, I think you should about introduce some authentic elements from the local cuisine with rice, beans etc... I don't remember seeing cerviche, ribs and corn bread on the local places in st Lucia. Also why not get a bottle of 1931 rum (one of the best Rums in the world) as the crown piece of your bar to really show off and with regards to chilli, how about having a bottle of Baron's sauce on each table (which imo is one of the best sauces I've tasted). Come on guys, let's get a taste Rodney Bay, Gros Islet and Soufriere into Windsor. ļæ½

This place was AWESOME - it was pretty quiet on a rainy Sunday, but still 10 people in and only 3 staff, one on the bar, one in the kitchen and our lovely waitress Gwen from Belgium. They really derived on everything, the place itself has a great intimate vibe with beautiful decor, nice music, nice candles and a fab menu. I would definitely go back -what they say they are about is what they are - great food, great drinks and friendly faces. Especially after some recent disappointing outings on service recently - this place did it effortlessly with love and care and made you relaxed and welcome form the moment you walked in - all the food was delicious!!!

I'm not usually a cocktail drinker- but I'm converted after visiting Saint Lucia. The Orange Street cocktail was amazing, the rose sangria is divine and thd food.....sensational. Such a great place for a group catch up and they were playing the BEST range of music. I had such a lovely time at Saint Lucia and can't wait to take more friends there.

Delicious food and drinks, top notch service, fantastic vibe. I would highly recommend this restaurant and I will surely come again.

Great place, the decor is amazing The service is great and the staff are very friendly But best of all is the atmosphere, second to non on chapel street ļæ½ļæ½ Absolutely worth a visit then you'll be hooked

Great food and atmosphere ! I recommend to try the mac'n cheese donuts.

Killer place, great food, top notch service. Thanks for a great night!!

Not too noisy , great menu and food , large serves . Excellent wait staff

Good vibes and great food! You'd be silly to go past the pork belly and caramelised pineapple skewers... To die for

A couple of my friends and I decided to go here later on a Saturday night. We called five minutes before we arrived to see if there would be any room, and they had one table left outside for us. The service was very friendly, and the server was good at giving suggestions. We shared the Mac n cheese donuts, which were absolutely amazing! Then we each got our own Kokomo Kones, which were also delicious! Two questionable dishes that ended up working so well! Likely one of the best meals I've had in Melbourne - I'll definitely be back soon!!

We were very pleased with our experience at Saint Lucia. Excellent service from friendly staff, very accomodating. The food was great, especially the starters! Would highly recommend Saint Lucia to anyone who wants to try some different food!

It's more like a 3.5, but Zomato won't let us give half stars anymore for some reason. The strengths here are the service (the Belgian waitress was lovely), and the slightly different menu options. Our group tried the Ceviche (nice, but needed a little more punch), the mac'n cheese donuts (fantastically crispy and the cheese sauce is a winner), the jerk Barramundi (nice, but lacking in flavour), tacos (OK, but I wouldn't travel here to eat them again), Bajan pork ribs (saucy, smokey and tender but far too small a serving - more on this later) and the Jamaican rice and beans (a little salty, but otherwise inoffensive).

The biggest issue here is cost/serve. At $23, the ribs (I'd say there are 4 very small ribs) is very poor value, as are the tacos - which would need to be amazing at $8 each (perhaps the most expensive tacos in Melbourne?), but they're not, and I can't even say they are jam packed full of ingredients, because they're not. I have been looking forward to coming here for a while, and although the experience was positive, I'm not sure there is anything good enough, or good enough value, to bring me back.

Delicious food. Beautiful decor. Friendly and attentive service. Must try kokomo cone, ribs, donuts and the corn bread!! Came for family dinner and everyone loved it. It was priceless to see my dad who is notoriously fussy enjoy his first taste of Caribbean cuisine!
Larissa Vendramini
Crazy delicious food with a vibrant cocktail vibe! Do yourself a favour and order the Mac & Cheese donuts. Mouthwatering cheese dipping sauce, super cute presentation and dangerously moorish. Canā€™t go past the charred corn as a side. Fun and tasty cocktail menu. The staff were welcoming and patient (even when busy) and had great recommendations. Looking forward to eating here again. Might be my new local!

What a rare great find of delicious Caribbean food! The deep fried Mac and cheese donuts are absolutely yum! The jerk chicken was super moist! Will have to ask for more jerk spice next time! Great friendly helpful service. Canā€™t wait to come back for more!

We loved our time at this restaurant! The owner was lovely and super helpful with selecting menu items. The restaurant is well fitted out and very unique to Chapel Street. All food here was super delicious and we will certainly be going back. The Caribbean menu theme was something we had never tried before and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
Pastry.loving.foodie
I love Saint Luciaā€™s individuality in regards to mismatching crockery, glasses ect - very obscure but works amazing well for the vibe. The varying heights of seating made a small space feel much larger than it is.

Itā€™s hard to find Caribbean food that is truly authentic, however Saint Lucia excels in providing flavour and variety. Jerk chicken is highly recommended! The accompanying garnishes complimented the Chicken exceptionally well. Service friendly and food came out quickly.

Serious Chapel Street favourite contender, great stuff from these guys!

4.5/5

Carribean food ā€“ now this is a cuisine that Iā€™ve never tried before. The interior design and decor in this restaurant are detailed ā€“Ā from the decorative framed walls to the hanging bits of warm greenery; it gives off a chilled, old fashioned yet tropical vibe.

For starters, we ordered the Crispy soft shell crab and Chorizo + Goats cheese cigars. The cigars were quite pleasant, it had crispy layers of pastry encasing the cheesy filling
Meeohmyohmel
Decor and ambiance is good and decided to come back again after having a great dinner the previous year.

The cigars and soft shell crab tacos were nice and the plantain chips were a fave!

Mac and cheese donuts were really tasty.šŸ‘šŸ»

The jerk chicken on this occasion wasnā€™t as good as I remembered, unfortunately.

Decided to order the only dessert on the menu (as Iā€™m a huge sweeth tooth/ dessert lover!) but it fell well short of what was listed on the menu. It wasnā€™t presented as well as it could and was more of a jumbled mess that was difficult to share with all the ingredients hidden inside the cone.
There was mostly whipped cream then any of the other ingredients listed- the ratio was off in terms of flavour balance and I even had to ask if there was any ice cream included.. wasnā€™t worth the calories or the price šŸ™

The drinks and cocktails were good as too was the service.šŸ¹
Alliwantisgoodfood
+: Ribs and rum (what a combo!), Friendly and attentive service

-: the sundae could do with a better serving of ice cream, as it was mostly filled with whipped cream
Steph_Eats
First time having Caribbean cuisine and Iā€™m obsessed. Saint Lucia serves share plates/ tapas which is great to try a variety of flavours in one sitting. We ordered the soft shell crab, Mac n Cheese donuts, the beef brisket & fried chicken tacos, Jerk barramundi, Kokomo kone and the sweet dreams banana sundae (not pictured because we smashed it before thinking photo). I canā€™t even decide which one was the highlight because they were all great. The food was delicious, the meats super soft and juicy all the elements worked together beautifully in each dish. The staff were so lovely, checking up on us frequently and topping up our water. Top notch food, and great service.

Random drop-in on a Friday night.

Out of curiosity I tried the "mac n cheese donuts".Ā Four 4-5cm diameter, deep-fried donut shapes of mac & cheese with a pan of chilli/cheese dipping sauce arrived.Ā Quite excellent; my only issue with it being that the dipping sauce was a little too mild - it needed more kick and flavour.

The beef and goat tacos were very good. The beef accompanied by a nice mustardy flavour and the goat a less confronting coconut taste.Ā Also, the amount of food in the tacos was about right.

The roasted cauliflower was also very tasty and cooked well.

Half Jerked Chicken was perfectly cooked (perhaps not quite hot enough) and delicious.Ā It possibly could have done with a little more jerk seasoning on the plate to enable more bites of chicken to be accompanied by its hot/sweet/savoury tastiness.

We accompanied the chicken with the Lime slaw - also very tasty.

The kitchen clearly know what they're doing.Ā Only criticisms... not great lighting and for a place that bases its dishes around share plates, the table was tiny.Ā Wait staff were friendly and helpful (just enough).

Update from return visit:
Food still very good and mostly served piping hot.
Lighting is still a problem though: it's way too dark.

Came here with a big group and they were so accomodating and welcome. There is something on the menu for everyone and it's really reasonably priced too. The mac and cheese doughnuts are an absolute must!

4 magic words: HALF PRICE TACO WEDNESDAYS!!!

Stumbled across this new (?) restaurant on the ever changing and trendy Chapel Street (Windsor end) and was lured in at the promise of Half Price Tacos on Wednesdays. And boy did they deliver.

We tried 4 different tacos between us with the stand-out being the fried chicken taco. Mmmm, I am drooling just reminiscing about delicious it was. Coconut goat curry taco is not something you see everyday. Beef brisket taco was perhaps a bit too juicy, and the fish taco was average.

But wait - there was some amazing coconut lime corn!!! I loved the fresh and sweet flavour of this grilled corn. The lime mayo was soooo good!

So many other things I want to try. 'They have a ribs special on Tuesdays. Will definitely be back!

----------

EDIT:
Returned to Saint Lucia and discovered their amazing smokey cauliflower dish (the recipe is on the Channel 9 website - you're welcome!). The rib dish was so delicious and just fell off the bone. Mac and Cheese donuts were an interesting snack, and the jerk fish was paired well with the spice pineapple.

Saint Lucia has become one of my favourite restaurants down Chapel Street and I can see myself returning time and again!

Braised beef tacos was a hit! Service crews were friendly and prices were reasonable. Definitely coming back for their Wednesday half price tacos night!
Jason Keogh
Came in for the $20 ribs and rum deal. The ribs were TINY. Hardly $26 worth and the waitress pushed us to order something else. Bit of misleading conduct me thinks.
Onara
The op shop furniture and mismatched crockery just add to the atmosphere here at St Lucia. Jerk chicken is the staple, but the menu ranges right through The Americas. The tacos are especially good. The staff are lovely too

We used to be out every night with dinners and drinks but now we have 2 children UberEATS is pretty much my go to.

Saint Lucia is absolutely incredible. I'm a huge fan of these guys and have ordered many times and living 1.2KM away the food arrives hot and delicious.

The corn bread is so good. Tastes like corn relish almost on the breads. So yummy

Beef brisket tacos are heaven. If I could eat these every day for the rest of my life I would.

Chicken tenders oh my gosh yum. The flavour. The juiciness. So good.

Cauliflower / so vibrant and flavourful

Chicken taco? Yum. So much flavour

Corn on cob oh yes. That coconut flavour is amazing.

I LOVE this place. 5/5

Vibesss, vibessss, vibesssss! The decor was so cute! The friendliest service you'll ever come across! They're the type of place that comes and refills your cup of water throughout your meal, and might I add with a smile! If you do end up going to this beauty of a place try out the Mac and cheese donuts, they come with a real nice cheesy spiced sauce. But the star of the show was obviously the roasted cauliflower! (Pics don't do it justice) So good we ordered a second plate after we'd finished our mains cause we were still longing for that flavour! Great red stripe Jamaican lager too, pairs well with the Mac and cheese donuts! Love this place, will be back again!

What a gem! We were slightly shocked when the bill came as we were eating till we could no longer move and only came to about 30 bucks per person. The mac and cheese donuts are a must try,,,,,,,,,, that was my trail of drool just thinking about it. My only constructive feedback for improvement is the jug of sangria which was predominantly ice and lacked alcohol. Would love to come back to try everything else on the menu!

St Lucia first caught my eye when I saw a photo of their very creative cookie shots (which unfortunately are no longer on the menu *insert very sad face!*) and had been itching to go there ever since. When you step through the door it feels like stepping out of Chapel Street and into a relaxed beach oasis which really put me in the mood for some Carribean food.
Rhianna
Randomly walked passed this joint on chapel street and would definitely go back again and try everything on the menu. We tried their kingfish ceviche and it was amazing! It was served on cassava crackers, topped with coconut ,tangy lime and freshly diced cucumbers! Ā You also have to try their fish tacos- A-MAZ-ING! Awesome ambience with dimmed lights, and a very chilled and relaxing vibe while sipping on some cocktails is the way to go! Thanks Saint Luca for your amazing service and food.
Jola Ramsay
Food was absolutely delicious and presented well. We had the Mac & Cheese Donuts with the 3 cheese chilli sauce (must try!), the Chorizo & Goats Cheese (dip it in the pepper sauce) and the chicken in the cone. The chicken was amazing with the slaw and the combo of the wafer cone.
The service was fantastic, and very attentive. Can't fault it and would definitely come back!
@twogoodtoresist
Saint Lucia is a casual and chilled restaurant that boasts a funky and cool vibe. Sunday night live music is a great addition and a must check out. Low key with reasonable prices but high quality food as well as great and friendly service. Caribbean cuisine is not common in Melbourne but we loved the idea of BBQ themed, fresh fish and light but tangy sauces. Saint lucias menu is set apart from others with their mac and cheese doughnuts (which come with a 3 cheese chili sauce that is simply irresistible) and a fried chicken cone- creative, unique and flavoursome! We also enjoyed our tacos, the king fish ceviche and the cauliflower dish. We found the mushrooms a bit too garlicy and saucy and the corn a bit lacking in flavour however overall we loved our experience and the welcoming and fun vibes of Saint Lucia.
Dean Pahek
Impulse decision going here after walking past a thousand times before. Tacos were ridiculously good and the cone was really unique and just as tasty. I enjoyed this place and will definitely be back to try some more of the menu. If I was going to pick anything it would be the half open kitchen you walk past to the bathrooms, the outside area and the bathrooms. All a bit basic and in need of an upgrade, but this is not a real problem because it isn't a hatted restaurant. Cheers.
Tony
Amazing! The Kokomo Cone is to die for and the jerk chicken is delicious. Red Stripe on tap? Yes please! Good happy hour specials otherwise a bit exxy on the drinks side.
Pat P
We had the Mac n Cheese Donuts, Kokomo Kone, and Jambalaya. They were all good but loved the Kokomo Kone the most. A must-try! Also had the Paradise Punch mocktail, which was really nice too.
Service was amazing. Didn't have to wait too long for the food. Music was nice and just the right volume to be able to hold a conversation. Reasonably priced.
Sarah
Wow that fried chicken cone! Had seen it on instagram and thought it looked fun & interesting. It's fried chicken inside with 'jerk' BBQ sauce & slaw with charred corn - had never tried jerk sauce before it's good! (very punchy!) The place was buzzy & I really enjoyed the quirky decor, our waitress was lovely. Loved it will be back
Split The Bill
Mac and cheese donuts?? Yes, they do exist and they taste as good as they look. With that spicy cheese dipping sauce it was delicious.

We also enjoyed the chorizo and goats cheese cigars which were nice and light and really hit the mark with the pepper sauce.

Along with the bajan pork ribs with stickyĀ sauce was so moorish with a delightful side of lime slaw salad and bbq corn and lime mayo.

The highlight of the night was the Kokomo Kone! Finally got to try the jerk BBQ glazed fried chicken balanced with fresh slaw, toasted coconut and crunch of the 'sunset' waffle cone šŸ˜šŸ˜. Oh my goodness, it was a taste sensation in your mouth, a must try when you visit.

To ensure we really felt we were in Saint Lucia we washed this all down with the Roll-off Rum punch and Orange Street rum šŸ˜Ž. Thanks for inviting us and we will be back to check out the dessert.

Stumbled across this little bar / restaurant on Chapel street last night and it was awesome.
the place was buzzing and it had a great vibe, the lights are low, the cocktails are delicious but the food was the best thing. The menu is designed to share and we tried about 6 different thing all were amazing, You have to try the chicken and waffle cone it was epic!
Jamie McMullen
A mate told me about this place so we went for there ribs & rum night and it didn't disappoint! Ribs were really well cooked covered in a sticky bbq sauce couldn't get enough. Came with a nice cornbread. I haven't tried many rums and the guy that looked after us was great let us try a couple and find what we liked. Great atmosphere on a Tuesday night will be back

This vibrant & friendly hotspot is a great addition to Chapel street - it's unique, fun & celebrates all things foodie & boozie. Serving a delicious range of creative share plates inspired from the exciting flavours of the Caribbean, Cuba and Southern America.

Nice bar for friend catch up! Actually the inner decor is also romantic if you wanna bring your special here~ the food is nice with very strong style! The smoked pork belly is one of the most smoked dish that I ever had! Honestly not very into smoked one. Other dishes are all nice the starter is so fresh being strong comparison of the smoked one. The highlight is the dessert~ must try there! The milk comes so nice with chocolate cakes and we were advised to start it with special posture! Interesting!

Went here last Friday for dinner with a friend. We had the croquettes, mac and cheese, pork skewers, jerk corn and the beef brisket. Everything was delicious! Courtyard is a gorgeous spot to share a cocktail jug. Will be back for sure.
Richy Libre
We went there for a friend birthday, they had booked the two front tables. The service was really good. Cocktails and Rum Zacapa were beautiful. It's really fun to share. Amazing how much you can eat when you enjoying the food. Great place to catch up for a drink and tapas.

Having moved recently south of the river, hungry, I needed reprieve from the half-packed house and so I went for a walk. Down Chapel Street for a first in three years, past the old hat and the new all the way down to Windsor, and I found myself in Saint Lucia. The day had pushed to dusk and out back, I felt like I was nowhere, everywhere, on holiday in the Carribean. Or something. Smiles were welcoming, beer crisp and their in house smoker was on a slow burn. I ate really well. A delicately balanced ceviche, smoked pork belly with pineapple, rich and spicy sweet with a little pickle to break things up. I love all things Jerk and ordered off the grill a big prawn and some sweet potato, both beautifully prepared and presented with fine cut garnishes and sticky spiced pineapple. Smoked, jerked and pickled is the name of the game here, and I loved every second.

Amazing food and service in the cutest decor!
Definitely try the jerk chicken and the johnny cakes, both are to die for. And one of the cocktail pitchers on a sunny day in the courtyard... We will definitely be back!

Had a uni event there with almost 30 of us. Great vibe to the place really nice cocktails, we tried to get some most of the food. Tried the beef brisket, pork skewers and fried chicken which was amazing! Will definitely go there again and a good tip would be to sit out back on a sunny day cause its beautiful!

I was looking for a sort of exotic cuisine to begin my series of "taste of nations" and finally ended up in Saint Lucia.
This is a small and cosy place to eat, we sat out in the courtyard. Chairs were wonky and we needed to swap them to find a suitable one, plates and cutlery were of different sets. Generally speaking it was more like eating at my friends backyard who is living in a sharehouse!
We were 4 and had 2 dish from starter, one jerk grill, 2 plates and two sides. Before I talk about each dish it should be included that they were served awkwardly. We chose sangria jar for drink which i think had absolutely no alcohol and cost us $38. Jalapeno and cheese was nice, crunchy outside, melted inside, medium spicy. Sweet potato was also nice and the carrot pickles on top was aromatic. The Jerk Chicken was awful, it was undercooked and hardly could taste the Jerk spice which they bragged about. Pulled brisket was delicious, tender, slightly sweet, not too smoky. Jambalaya was the most different and best plate. Coocked rice with a mixture of aromatic spices, caramelised chicken wings and sussage nuggets. Sides were saverved last! Baby cos salad was not anything special. Johny cake was a round ball of fried donut dough raw inside, while it should be a flatbread.
To sum up: Recommended only once.

Wolf Of Collins St.
Well, well. How can be honest here while I don't want to be unfair too. Staff are friendly but it is not all that you expect from a Chapel st. restaurant.
Sangria was like zero alcohol with $38 price tag. Food supposed to be like tapas but every plate served with 15 min delay of the last one. Johnny cakes were served unbaked, with raw dough in the middle. Jerk chicken un-cooked too and not marinated enough. Rest of the foods were ok and surprisingly cooked enough. So I won't go there again and not recommend it to anyone.

Went for our regular Meal of Fortune catch up so we're five adults and two toddlers. Smallish restaurant (although out the back there was more seating) and great service, very accommodating to the kids and their needs. The menu is relatively small so we saw it as an opportunity to try everything. Without going into detail on every dish, the food was delicious and very satisfying. Our favourites were the slow cooked beef and the croquettes. The dessert was great, just very rich and should definitely be between two. Loved everything, will be back.
Gerd
Half a point extra for the smoke. Jamaican style restaurant on Chapel at Windsor end. We had fried plantain chips with chipotle dipping mayo, ceviche, johnny cakes, pork belly skewered with pineapple cooked over a smoker BBQ, jerked BBQ sweet potato. About the smoke- there are many places that are doing the low and slow American BBQ - but here they are using it to great effect on a brisket and also a pork belly offering. Well judged spices and smoke balances flavours to good effect. Great selection of rums behind the bar and red stripe on tap. Worth a visit.

Came here for a drink on Friday night. The people serving us were friendly and welcoming. A warm vibe all around, nice warm lighting, soft smooth music. Tried out the Aphrodite, cocktail pitcher with dark rum, light run, passion fruit, lime, mint and ginger beer. Nice and relaxing perfect to unwind.

Such a cool little restaurant! Loved the eclectic decor and the music- creates a great vibe. I've never eaten Caribbean food before so I didn't know what to expect but it was really delicious. For starters we had the kingfish ceviche as well as the soft shell crab with pineapple, chipotle mayo and cos lettuce (kind of like a san cho bau). The kingfish was very refreshing and the soft shell crab was amazing, a bit messy to eat though. For mains we shared the jerk chicken, the beef brisket and the paprika chickpeas with spinach. The chicken could have done with a bit more of the jerk spices but it was nicely cooked. The beef brisket was phenomenal though. Definitely my favourite dish for the night. The chickpeas were also moreish. Avoid the Jonny cakes though- like little rocks!

Best Jerk Chicken in Melbourne!

A group of us have been slowly working our way through Melbourne's short list of Caribbean restaurants and rolled into St Lucia on Friday night. So far this place is leading the pack!

We had a set menu for $38pp which was too much food for 7 guys to get through - unheard of on Chapel St. All the food was excellent but the highlights were the Jerk Chicken (and so it should be at a Caribbean place) and the Beef Brisket. I'd go back just for those again.Ā

We also made a good dint in the bar's excellent rum selection too, the barman certainly knows his stuff.Ā

All in all an excellent night made better by some really great service and surroundings. Thanks guys!

OMG, stumbled upon this gem as another of our favourites was too busy. The brunette wait staff was so so friendly and really down to earth. Great selection of beers such as 'big wave' (best beer). We order the veg version of the jambalaya, the beef jerk grill and the corn (omg the corn!). The veg jambalaya however was just rice and veggies. They had clearly just taken out the meat and didn't replace it with anything so there was no protein. Some people can do veg well others can't, these guys can't. Other than that good times all round at st Lucia!

Had a brilliant delivery from here tonight . We ordered the jerk chicken and the fried breads. It all delivered very well, it was so flavoursome and the perfect level of spice for me. Thanks guys

Decided to try something different, and Saint Lucia popped up on my radar- a Caribbean inspired food joint, not too many around, especially in my 'hood. My partner and I dined here last night- the place is cosy, but wasn't too packed yet for a Friday night. We chose 2 entrees, two larger dishes and one side dish. The low: The cheese and JalapeƱo croquettes came out first, and whilst lovely, they definitely were a bit on the lukewarm side- whilst you don't want the creamy insides of the deep fried morsels burning your mouth off, I definitely would have liked them hotter (in temperature, and maybe also with the spice) the Crystal Bay prawns were tasty, but again, were not hot enough and for the price of these, I thought they were a bit skimpy in the serving side. The highlight: the Louisiana buttermilk fried chicken was delicious, and was not oily at all; it came with some pickles and chipotle mayo. The 4 hour Hickory smoked pork belly skewers with pineapple were amazing and you could really taste the smoked flavour- two skewers don't sound much, but the pork was very rich, so the pineapple to cut through that richness was the perfect accompaniment. The side dish of potatoes with chorizo was a little undercooked, but pleasant enough. I also thought the cocktail and drinks list was adequate with a heavy influence on Rum and Tequila based drinks.
The courtyard would be perfect on a sunny day to kick back with a Sangria or boozy Iced Tea.

This place is an absolute gem! Good vibes and great food. We got the croquettes, roasted cauliflower, jerk chicken and pork belly skewers with caramelised onion (which were absolutely to die for!). Couldn't make one complaint about the food. A great place for a date or for a big group'l

How on earth is this restaurant ranked so low on Zomato?!? 3.2?!? Totally ludicrous!!!

My wife and I were absolutely treated to gourmet specialty here this evening, and this is a serious understatement. The three dishes that we ordered to share were cooked to perfection with a perfect fusion of spices to compliment the ingredients on offer - soft shell crab for one dish, side of chorizo/potatoes for the second dish and Southern-style chicken with pickles for the third dish. All washed down with a shared vodka iced tea and we were more than satisfied for the evening - we'll definitely have to come back for their well loved desserts another time when we're not stuffed!!

A massive thank you to the chef for being so accommodating and keeping the kitchen open to serve us so late in the evening at 9:30pm after a late finish to the day, we really appreciated it!! Kudos also to all staff for their friendliness and attentiveness, without being overbearing. :)

Not a perfect 5/5, I hear you ask? Only based on the price of certain menu items, which appear a little bit high (but food quality more than makes up for this). Otherwise, extremely impressive!! Add this restaurant to your "must visit " list ASAP!!

Despite the thriving food and wine scene that contributes much to Melbourne's appeal, one cuisine seems to be sadly lacking and that's fresh,Ā exotic Caribbean. As such, my experience with the cuisine has been rather limited; gleaned only from a one week work trip to Colombia early in 2014 and one other Melbourne restaurant prior to the opening of Windsor's Saint Lucia.

Itā€™s always exciting to try something different in a food-filled city like Melbourne. Named after a scenic island in the Caribbean, Saint Luciaā€™s menu draws its inspiration from Caribbean, Cuban and South American cuisines. Their focus on good drinks means thereā€™s also a large selection of cocktails, tequila, rum and wine.

Ever since I saw a photo of the Louisiana buttermilk fried chicken, I was sold. Ā I was glad we came here on a weekday so we managed to get a table straightaway. The place was pretty funky and I really like the decor. The whole place was dimly lit, with candles here and there. Definitely a good place for a rendezvous. We were warmly welcomed and seated by one of the waitresses. She was attentive but not intrusive. We ordered salt cod fritters as an entree and that was nice. In addition to that a cornbread, Louisiana buttermilk fried chicken with pickles, and smoked caramelised beef brisket with house bbq sauce. Surprisingly, I didn't enjoy the friend chicken but instead I really like the beef brisket.

The brainchild of passionate owners Steph and Charlie, Saint Lucia is a restaurant concept born from the duo's desire to share the exciting flavours of the Caribbean, Cuba and Southern America. The partners have worked to create a lively environment at Saint Lucia that is true to the Latin American culture of imbibing in delicious food and booze.

When Melbourneā€™s nice, itā€™s real nice. But the second it finds a bit of a rain and a gust of windā€¦it ainā€™t so much. As winter starts making itself more and more known, the nights are frostier, wetter and terribly uninviting. You canā€™t blame Melbournians for not wanting to leave the house. However, one very wet and cold night I still found myself heading out to Saint Lucia, and I couldnā€™t ask for a better shelter from the storm.

Went to Saint Lucia with my parents - and I was so glad that we did! The service is so friendly and the music is absolutely what you need for a relaxing fun evening. Though the menu is small everything was lovely. I particularly liked the croquettes, plantain chips (spicy!) and buttermilk chicken. Also try their espresso martini - one of the smoothest that I have tried. Side note my mum has quite a few allergies and they went out of their way to be accommodating.

I host my birthday there, 50 people turned up and all of them were impressed with the place, food, drinks and the services.

Charlie and Steph are amazing, they came up with two delicious cocktails that fitted the theme of the praty..

After a spontaneous decision to catch up with a mate for dinner we stumbled across this little place on chapel st, not far from Windsor station. This quirky little bar will steal your heart away with its bold and unique flavours. The staff are smiley, professional and attentive to every detail.
We started off with the goats cheese cigars and Mac and cheese croquettes. The flavours were bold and unreal, I was being transported into cheese heaven, for mains we shares the slaw, fried chicken and brisket. The fried chicken was juicy and succulent, the slaw every bite of crunchy with a hint of spice and the brisket was mouth watering goodness.
I was transported into a food comer heaven !!!
To top it all off we shared a bottle of wine and finished off with aperitif's tequila for my friend and a creamy, silky smooth espresso martini for me.
This place is a little part of heaven that is great for both its food and decor, I will defiantly be back for more !!!

A cool new Caribbean kid has joined the very funky end of Chapel Street in Windsor, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Tokyo Tina, Suzie Wong and Hawker Hall.

Set in a very relaxing, island holiday inspired restaurant the food is equally as comforting.

You must try the louisiana buttermilk chicken and the smoked caramelized beef with BBQ sauce and house made corn bread.

Find me on Instagram: @melbourne_explorer.

Have walked by Saint Lucia a lot and thought I would give it try, I am so glad I did! The five of us ordered all of the starters, and a few selections from the mains. Every dish was so unique, full of flavour and absolutely delicious! My stand out dish was the beef brisket, amazing! Staff were very friendly and helpful, even going as far to change some dishes to cater for health issues. Can't wait to go back.

Saint Lucia brings Caribbean flair to the grungy streets of Windsor. Flavours of Cuba, South America and Louisiana come together for a bash of spice and zest. Ā Husband and wife team ā€“ Charlie & Steph fell in love with the islands, noting the lack of Caribbean food in Melbourne. The cuisine is a cultural melting pot, combining European, African and American influence. The interior reflects the coupleā€™s eclectic style. Stephā€™s creative hands, exuding the cool cat touch ā€“ painting, refurbishing and styling the unique space. When you think of the Caribbean islands, you picture turquoise waters, green jungles and humidity that would send curly haired people running. At Saint Lucia, diners are transported to the Caribbean islands, with smooth tunes overhead, lush greenery and island inspired decor. You forget that youā€™re in Windsor, until you look outside and see a Stormtrooper and Iron Man standing on the street (100% true story)

This place was great, it had extremely friendly staff, that knew the menu well. The food is definitely worth checking out. Given it is new Iā€™m sure it is still finding itā€™s feet so the quality will just keep rising. It stands up extremely well with all the other restaurant/bars on Chapel street, and brings a different style to the strip. I look forward to next time.

On on a wet Thursday, this is a happy little place, cute decor quality wine (try the Malbec). Must have the cigars (everything is better with chorizo). Two classy chicken dishes and a cerviche! Upmarket tapas.
