Excellent!! Had the burger with beef and fried chicken and it was one of the tastiest burgers I have had in Melbourne, delicious! And the chips...... possibly the best ever. Crunchy with some amazing salt on them and a dipping sauce to die for.
Located in Chapel st Opposite Windsor station... great vibe and friendly service. Great beer happy hour and has Zomato gold deal... also awesome upstairs lounge and rooftop beer garden.
We came to this cool little bar on a 30% off voucher. The waitress kindly let us do a takeaway although we were supposed to dine in. The bar, neon lights and dark theme matched the place quite well, and if that doesn't suit you there are a few tables outside that get natural sunlight.
The burgers here are generous though also on the expensive side. If you're a big eater it is probably worth your while though. They serve decadent burgers like what you'd get at some other American style joints with multiple patties and artery clogging concoctions, though probably not quite as bad. I ordered the burger with a fried chicken patty and beef patty, alongside lettuce, tomato, cheese, bacon and sauce. This retails for $17. We also had their basic $12 burger, which oddly enough didn't come with lettuce or tomato so we had to add lettuce for $1. We also had a Poutine chips with gravy, cheese and bacon for $13.
My beef and chicken burger was filling. Along with the chips, I hardly had to eat dinner later. Bun was soft and moist, so that's a huge plus. Cheese was well belted, chicken wasn't dry like you'd find at some places, the beef patty actually tasted like good meat when eating on its own, so overall pretty satisfied. A little expensive for the meal but it was fine on a voucher. The one thing I'd prefer less of is the BBQ sauce on the bacon. Their bacon (both on the burger and on loaded chips) is served cut into small pieces and doused in BBQ and other sweet sauces, which is a little overpowering, but that's sort of the style of American burgers like these. The chips were average crinkle cut chips like what you'd find at Salsa's - same paprika seasoning too. They weren't really crispy even when eaten fresh, but with the toppings it was decent and generous.
Every Wednesday Southside Central do $1 wings and they are amazing! They were delicious, great flavour and fantastic value for money. The buffalo wings were my favourite. I will definitely be going back to this place next Wednesday!
Today I met my partner and a friend for lunch at Southside Central.
The service was good and we ordered a HOT Mama burger which was a self saucing chilli and cheese stuffed meat patty w ghost chilli etc. OMGosh this was the hottest thing I’ve ever eaten.
Initially the chilli was mild but then I got hotter and then my head started to sweat hahaha too much info but wow!! Hahaha
A chicken burger was really good, and we ordered some stuffed jalapeños and loaded fries. Gosh we were all soo full that we had to walk for half an hour just to help digest everything. Lol
And my Bloody Mary was awesome, really tasty and good fun! Happy Saturday.
Love the layout , love the brain child discovery of brick meets neon , this would be my house if a dream could come true , architecture wise it’s amazing , food good service not so good . To the owner all you need to do is find the right staff and you have a great spot , bit more marketing and your killing it . ✌️

Amazing Wygu burger !!!! Absolutely delicious !!!
Good size !! Cold beer as fuc...... Also affordable prices !! I’ll be back defo ! They have a kind of capsicums relish for the burgers which is so tasty !!! I didn’t even miss fries because the burger was so good ! Well done guys !!
We decided to come try this place on a whim, and we were not disappointed! My bf and I shared a fatty 5.0 burger and the Mrs simple. I loved the fried chicken burger I got, but the fatty burger was a bit too rich and heavy for me (my bf enjoyed it, especially the bacon, but couldn’t finish the burger!) we also got the Mac and cheese nuggets which were delicious!! And the poutine fries which were good too. A really cool American style bar which plays hip hop music and has a cool late night atmohosphere.
Finally got to tick Southside Central of my list, and I honestly do think that I should have done it sooner. The food was just amazing, and the interior was adorned with cool and funky murals and neon signs.
My partner and I shared the Fatty 5-0 and it was well worth the calories. Double pattie, triple bacon and mac & cheese! The crispy bacon was excellent, but I personally wouldn't mind if the beef was a bit redder. Still there was no denying the deliciousness of the meaty and juicy patty, which was complemented by the smoky BBQ sauce and tangy sour cream mayo.
The cheesy fries were literally smothered in cheese - mouthwatering, oozy and indulgent American cheddar cheese. The popcorn chicken was very well-seasoned, and they were so well-seasoned that we could have just ate them without the accompanying white BBQ sauce.
Currently they have a USA Fair Food special menu with diabetes and cholesterol-inducing fares, and the deep fried Coke caught my eye. Deep fried bite-sized pieces of coke batter with a consistency similar to a doughnut, and lovely caramelised and warm flavours.
The spiked Snickers milkshake was a dream for a peanut butter lover like me, and it was thick and creamy. A word of advice about ordering soft drinks at a bar, or specifically this bar - don't. It was the most watered-down Coke I have ever had. Just no.
Love the decor of this place as well as the staff ! They are always so friendly. Simple, satisfying, delicious burgers. We’ve eaten there more than a few times now !
Scrumptious burgers and amazing side dishes!sizing is very generous and great vibes overall, would 11/10 recommend 👌🏼
Sweet potato chips are a must have
Great booze and great burgers.
This place is deceivingly big. The outdoor rooftop bar is dope as are the booths upstairs.
Must try: mac n cheese - social burger - Harlem
Southside Central on Chapel Street, Windsor do everything from Burgers, Spiked Shakes, Loaded Waffles, Dirty Fries, Sides and Alcohol!
Above/below were a few pictures of the crazy food they serve and everything was on point! The Deep Fried Chicken were crispy and succulent, the Beef Patties were cooked medium/pink and the Burger Buns were nicely toasted and buttery! The Mac and Cheese Nuggets are a must have, the crunchy coating basically encased some of the cheesiest and creamiest mac and cheese ever!
Hit them up on a Saturday night for their Southside Sessions! You won't be disappointed!
Always love a good meaty double beef burger and these guys didn’t disappoint. Hard to find a good handcrafted burger on Chapel street so glad I stumbled across this place. Word of advice, make sure you order the Mac and cheese nugget things 😍😍 omg they’re the best!
Amazing burgers. Great sides that are perfect replications of American soul foods. Great music too. The upstairs area makes the place. Great vibe
Cool little place on chapel, great burgers and a great bar with outdoor seating upstairs. If visiting, I'd recommend the meat market burger ! So damn good! I look forward to coming back.
Visited here with some friends. And absolutely caught by its vibrant nature of crowd, old school music and very decent food and drinks. Not so pricy we did get an offer of all cocktails for 12$ and didn't miss one.
My favorites expresso martini. Someone suggested bubble gum cocktail but it was too sweet and sticky.
Fries are perfect. Poppers are superb. Popcorn chicken is a bit let down for my pallette was expecting bit more crunch. We drank all night didn't get a chance to try their burgers which they are known for. Will definitely visit here several times.
Really cool venue with an awesome vibe. I enjoyed the decor, the old school music playing and the layout of the place. Staff are super friendly and helpful.
Food was pretty decent. I had the social burger (with added lettuce) and chips. The burger was good but not exceptional. I thought the pickles were a bit over-powering so I had to take them out. Burger could have used more sauce as well, but that's my personal preference.
My dining companion had the Fatty 5-0 burger and I had immediate food envy. It was reportedly impressive despite the messiness of it during consumption
The chips were delightfully seasoned. The taco seasoning was awesome, and the smokey BBQ mayo dipping sauce was amazing!
I had the $12 espresso martini and it did not disappoint. A little on the sweet side (which I liked) and delicious!
Will definitely be back to try their bites and other burgers!
Had the Northside vegan cheesy which was probably one of the best veggie burgers I’ve tried. The patty was awesome, soft and moist. Also had the cheesy fries which were nice and had lots of cheese sauce but after a few mouthfuls were really sickly and neither me or my partner could finish them - would be good to share with around 4.

Waffle burger was pretty good. I ordered one spiked shake and one normal shake but got only normal shakes....quite disappointing. Would consider coming back.
The best burgers in Melbourne by far! The Harlem Burger is amazing..(Southern Fried Chicken between two buttermilk pancakes is out of this world)..
Don’t forget to try their Expresso Martini.. 😋

Lovely staff and amazing food. We had the vegetarian burgers and they were amazing!! Highly recommend if you are vegetarian as it’s very hard to choose what burger to get 👍
Very nice to have a beautiful burger! I had the wise guy and it was delicious ! Steak perfectly cooked and the sides were very nice too. Had the mac’and cheese nugget and it was awesome!
The place is so cute and comfy and the staff is super nice as well! Defo come back there
What an amazing place, the decor is something that really stuck with me, I immediately had it all over my social media. Obviously when people saw the photos everyone was asking where it was.
The food was amazing, can’t fault it.
Staff were friendly, very helpful.
If you are in the area do drop in, I highly recommend. And if you do go in you must try the sour bubblegum cocktail.
5/5 high recommend
This place has such a good vibe, we had a group come in and they saved us a cute little spot away from everyone. Music was great and I will be back! Great for casual Friday night drinks and food.
With locations in Windsor and Frankston, Southside is known for perfecting the art of spiked milkshakes and mouth watering burgers. We recently visited the new Windsor location, Southside Central. Conveniently located on Chapel Street amongst two levels including a heated rooftop featuring DJs on weekends, the eatery has fast become a new destination for burgers + booze + beats. It's easy to understand why.
Awesome burger and drinks place. Amazing prices with a homemade quality to each food item. Highly recommend the Harlem Burger and Taco fries . If you like your food spicy, they also have a extremely good ghost chilli sauce that they are happy to provide on the side of each order. On Mondays if you live in Windsor you get a 30% discount on your entire bill.... can’t beat the price!
DO: The Harlem or Social Burger. Actually just do any of them, they're all pretty good and come out pretty quickly.
DON'T: Just grab and go. Sit, relax and enjoy the rooftop bar upstairs. Cool vibes.
TIP: Weeknights are pretty chill and not as hectic as Fri-Sun. In saying that though - still awesome to go. Great music.
If you've got a cheat day coming up! @southsidesocial is going to be your pick! The venue is super cool with its graffiti, murals as wells as neon signs. The burgers are absolutely delicious - my recommendation is definitely the Mrs Simple Burger 😍 There's a lot of other decadent menu items like nacho fries that is definitely not for the faint hearted!
Usually not a fan of impractical food combinations that gets my hands messy, I still decided to challenge myself with the Anti-Social Burger as I wanted to sample a creation that was unique to Southside Central. . The Anti-Social Burger includes 4 beef patties, maple bacon, cheese, smoky bbq and 2 potato cakes. The form of the patty was loosely packed yet held it’s shape, and exhibited a strong and delicious beef flavour. The potato cakes were very deep fried, there were no soft potato bits in the centre. The bacon was also very crispy. The strong smokey bbq enhanced the components well. When each piece was eaten together (with cutlery) it was amazingly tasty! There was a good balance of tender protein, crunch and sauces.
Such a cool place I went with Josh Clark my boyfriend and the food was typical American with majestic music playing highly recommend. I ordered a mac and cheese burger with bacon and a meat patty, with these amazing mac and cheese filled vegetarian nuggets that I shared.
Great atmosphere, music and vibe. Always my go to burger place, menu is creative and staff are very welcoming. Definitely a returning customer
Been coming here for months now and every time the burgers are out of this world and the staff are friendly and always helpful in making my decision on what to get!

Visited on a Tuesday which meant $3 bites, win! The Mac and cheese bites were great but the chicken tenders were dry unfortunately. The sweet potato fries were pretty damn good and the burgers were ok, just a few tweaks and they would have been great. Really cool venue, be a great spot for a drink and a cheeky burg on their rooftop balcony when summer rolls around.
No need to travel to america for fried chicken waffles, instead, hop on a tram and head to South side central in Windsor. We had the social burger and the delicious harlem burger which had southern fried chicken, white bbq sauce, sandwiched between 2 waffles. Oh my goodness, loved this burger! We also had the mouthwatering jalapeño bites & mac n cheese bites. For drinks we had the spiked sneakers and the very pretty sangria both were fabulous cocktails. While we were there we noticed most customers ate downstairs then went upstairs for drinks on the roof top garden with a DJ pumping out tunes. You will definitely see us back here especially on a friday night or Tuesday night when the sides are $3.
Having gained much success from the original Southside Social, Southside Central offers the trendy Windsor end of Chapel Street with a very hip and buzzing venue that dishes up tasty grub that’s perfectly paired with spiked shakes and cocktails.
The Harlem Burger was undeniably unique yet tasty, while the Mac and Cheese Nuggets were amazing in their own right. For a casual night out with friends over a cheatmeal, you really can’t look past Southside Central.
American hip hop/rnb music playing & cool graffiti art interior was quite interesting. Simple menu. We ordered Hot Mama & Fungus burger. Mac & cheese fries & Jalapeño peppers with sour cream. Staff were friendly & attentive however you have to order at the bar. Surprisingly burger was over my expectations. Burger patty had that nice meaty flavour & spicy melted cheese just oozing out of the patty. Hot mama can be really hot though. Nicely grilled burger bun. Fungus burger was great. Though it is the vegetarian option was equally nicer to a meaty burger. Quality ingredients. Deep fried Mac & Cheese & Jalapeno peppers were comforting. Overall great comfort food. $12 Expresso martini was creamy but tiny bit too sweet for my licking. Overall really nice place to go before a party or when go clubbing. Has a nice vibe & food comforting. Not so pricy & good quality ingredients without making things overly complicating. Atmosphere can be very stimulating with lights, music & graffiti art so not the place for relaxing evening but for caching up your mates for drinks or weekend going out clubbing be a perfect venue for dinning. Staff said they got DJ playing on the weekend. This really has that bar/club ambiance I guess. Compared to taste, quality, ambiance,& service against price gives an overall rating of 4.0*
The newly open Southside Central is funky and fab its all things Melbourne and Chapel Street. Absolutely great vibes great music. Super attentive staff. Great menu with heaps of things to try and not to mention those amazing Espresso Martinis. Those burgers had a good sauce hit of chilli! Was a great night and left so full
Located on the top end of Chapel Street, Southside spans over 2 floors and even has an in-house DJ Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Their menu showcases an extensive range of burgers from the extreme to the more innovative. My favourite was the Harlem, a surprisingly delicious combination of chicken and waffles. There’s also plenty of sides and nibbles to snack on. Loaded fries are great!
Burgers, shakes, hip-hop beats and Snoop Dogggg! Thanks Southside Central, great venue to check out.
SERVICE: 4/5
Booking was super easy and we were greeted as soon as we walked in. It is a large multi-level venue and we were impressed to be greeted by each waitress we passed. We went during a late lunch timeslot so it wasn't as busy as it would be in the evenings. Lucky for us everything during the entire service was very quick - love that!
FOOD: 4/5
Tasty comfort food done well! The burgers were the standout and would happily come back to try a couple more.
Mrs Simple Burger: A fried chicken burger which was super tasty, just the right amount of mayo sauce in a toasted bun that was lightly crisp...yum!
The Social Burger: We opted for the single beef patty (strategic decision to allow more tummy space for other yummies). The patty was cooked perfectly, still moist and seasoned well. Special sauce, cheese...gone in 60 seconds!
Mac'n'cheese Balls: Crispy coating, oozy cheese...man-size "bites". Definitely generous serving and the sauce that came with it was again...tasssssty!
Taco Fries: Holy guacamole...it was huge. Well for 2 people, our eyes were definitely bigger than our tummies. The concept of this dish was great. Flavours worked well but would've hit the spot nicely if chippies were piping hot. Then again, probably our fault as the "camera ate first".
DECOR & AMBIENCE: 4.5/5
You cannot deny the WOW factor of Southside Central. The interior is dark, pink neon lights, walls spray-painted with eye-catching hip-hop murals...totally amazing! Old school hip-hop beats pumping as you walk through, the vibe sets you up for a good time. Very well executed fit-out and decor, you can tell they have catered to their young and hip clientele to a tee. There were quite a few private areas as well as a rooftop bar. I would love to come back here during the evening, great scene for a meal + pre drinks if you're heading out for a big night.
Snickers Shake: Let me just say I rarely finish these kind of shakes because they're generally too sweet and fill me up too quickly. I had the non-alc version and it was SO GOOD! Despite all that food, still managed to finish off this liquid snickers easily.
KID FRIENDLY: Doable but probably better to save this one for a date night or catch-up with the friends.
We were fortunate to be invited by Southside Central to dine at their Windsor location which recently opened up in April. To be honest I didn’t need much convincing to take up the offer as they simply sold me at “we have perfected the art of spiked milkshakes and mouth watering burgers”…
LOCATION:
It’s located on Chapel street directly opposite Windsor station. Note there’s always heaps of traffic on Chapel so do give yourself extra traveling time!! (we were about 20min late for our booking…)
FIRST IMPRESSION:
What a great two-storey burger joint with beautiful graffiti artwork along all the walls. The venue is much bigger than it looks from outside. The fit out is simple and attractive especially with the 90’s retro style; the black vinyl seating and the pink neon signs. Not a big fan of these small seating, especially those 2 seater attached to the wall – there’s simply not enough space for the amount of foods you would want to order!! – And the pink neon lights did not do much justice for the photos of the foods I took.. sorry in advance...
Straight up I have given this place an additional half point for pumping sick hiphop music and having the decor to match. Biggie's Hypnotize was blaring as I walked in and crip walked to my table. The food itself was good, comparative if not better than the many burger places around town. My double patty social was tasty, had unsweetened bun just as I like it and was juicy. The loaded fries was packed with flavor. Having a bite of the waffle chicken also brought a smile to my face and salivating pangs. A pleasant venue to nod in rhythm to bites of juicy burgers.
I was delighted when Southside Central invited me to check out their new Windsor location as I was ripe for a burger binge. I brought with me a fellow burger lover who will seek them out on every menu no matter where we are (including breakfast burgers) and as a Windsor local she was even more excited to learn that Monday nights are 30% off for those living in the postcode 3181. This is pretty much worth moving house for as it is a SPECTACULAR spot with outstanding atmosphere and a mouthwatering menu.
WHERE DO I EVEN START WITH THE FIT OUT???? This has got to be one of the hottest spaces around. Multi level, complete with a heated fairy light strung rooftop it's a modern on trend venue with pink neon signage, brightly coloured graffiti style murals on all the walls (including a KILLER one of Snoop Dog), comfortable lounge style seating and some of the coolest lighting fixtures I've seen.
Hip hop music plays in the background and a dj spins on weekends. They've really tapped into a white space market, offering Melbournians something we desperately needed but no one was doing yet. Burgers 🍔, beats 🎶 and booze 🍹 a one stop shop for dinner and a fun night out.
I can't even describe how PHENOMENAL my Harlem burger was. A chicken burger sandwiched between two sweet waffles dusting with powdered sugar actually sounds insane but it was INSANELY AMAZING. It just worked perfectly together. The softness of the waffles were the perfect 'bun' for that crispy southern fried chicken. I'm going to say it's one of the most exciting things I've eaten this year. Something really different and creative. My dining companion tried the Mrs Simple burger which some sweet potato fries which were also divine. Something really unique were the taco fries which are a massive serving of salsa covered chips with sour cream and guacamole. I love a bit of fusion and this Mexican twist on the fries was delectable.
We also got a bit adventurous trying out the jalapeño poppers and almost set our mouths on fire. They are definitely going to be popular with the heat loving diners.
Now for the drinks. They've literally thought of everything delicious in the world and put it on one menu. The cocktails have massive wow factor, the white chocolate passionfruit martini I had was absolutely delicious and looked breathtaking topped with a marvellous white chocolatey cream. The spiked milkshakes are also a visual extravaganza we tried the belvedere vodka redskin which was a sweet nostalgic sensation that had me straight back to the school canteen. I am deeply saddened to have been so full by this point as I would have greedily loved to have tried more drinks and also sampled the delightful dessert offerings which included peanut butter and jelly waffles and deep fried waffle balls but I'm ashamed to say I just couldn't do it. No issue though, it's an absolute certainty I'll be back
There’s been some dumb crazes sweeping through the culinary world recently like unicorn frappes and raw cookie dough bars (don’t get me wrong it’s tasty but i’m not going to buy a goddamn cup of it.) The craze i’ll always stand behind is burgers, juicy meat between two soft buns layered with cheese and sauce. You can dress them up or you can dress them down, 99% of the time it’s going to be amazing.
Disappointing in the respect that you go there like a little old lady for happy hour because you're a part time employee and dont earn much cash. Thinking you're going to get a $10 burger.
But dont be fooled folks, its only SOME of the burgers. But they wont tell you this. Nor do they have an * next to $10 burgers so you know to ask WHICH burgers are $10 so you end up paying more than you wanted.
Also the staff greeted us with their arms crossed and no smile what so ever.
Positive side. The Mac and cheese bacon bites are TASTY
So I've been a massive fan of Southside Social in Frankston for ages but getting there from Elsternwick was kinda difficult until I found out they had opened another one on chapel st! Bingo! Love what they are doing here! Love the vibe and the burgers! The bar looks fantastic and then you get a great surprise to discover they have an upstairs bar and outdoor courtyard! This is a must go to place in Windsor you won't be disappointed
Best burgers around! Delicious bites and yummy selection of cocktails! Perfect for a meal or Pre drinks. Fun location, the graffiti art decor adds to awesome vibe as does the rnb music!
I've been around the world and tried burgers, have to say southside central burgers are the best in the world 🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔 thanks again guys..
Tucked away at the Windsor end of chapel street, South side is a hidden gem and one definitely worth checking out! The decor and ambience of this burger joint is phenomenal- with stunning wall papers, lighting and vibes. It really felt as if we were stepping into a hip and vibrant American burger joint! They also have a roof top bar and the cocktails are amazing - so creative and tasty! We loved the bubble gum one which was rimmed with 100s and 1000s as well as the passionfruit white choc one. The food here is fantastic and so reasonably priced. The taco fries were to die for! We also loved the mac and cheese bites which were soft and cheesey to perfection as well as the chicken and jalapeño bites! (On Tuesday all bites are just 3$!!). Their extensive burger menu (including 3 vegetarian burgers which is rare!!) is bound to cater to everyone and come in a traditional American soft burger bun. For all the burger lovers out there, or simply just those who love a good night and good vibes, you'd be crazy not to check south side out!
A pretty impressive venue in terms of set up. Cool wall art and very old school feel to it.
Thursday night had beer at 2003 prices so downed a few for 4$-huge win!
I ordered the Social Burger and chips which were extremely filling. I've hit a few burger joints and must admit that I'm starting to think all burgers taste the same. In saying that, id definitely go back.
Really cool venue with old school hip hop, street art and intimate booths. The food matches the place perfectly - big mean burgers with mac n cheese nuggets, fried chicken, taco fries and alcoholic milkshakes. Little on the greasy side for me, but my partner loved it. Great place to bring a group of mates for a chill night.
Came here today for a cheeky burger on a miserable wet day and was not disappointed at all! We ordered two chocolate fudge milkshakes, and they were spectacular! I ordered the Mrs. Simple burger and My partner ordered the Meat Market. Everything was amazing! The beef was perfectly pink in the middle and the chicken was SO succulent and juicy! The burger was big and very filling- exactly what you want! The chips were nice but I'm not 100% sure about the taco seasoning, as I don't think it matches the flavours of the burgers (but I guess that's personal preference). Staff were friendly and helpful, too :)
Southside definitely has a cool vibe! The rooftop upstairs is great for a drink! The service was good. The drinks were good. The food was hit and miss. The mac and cheese bits were YUM! Jalapeño popper not what I expected at all and a bit sickly. The burger was pretty good but I was disappointed the lettuce was shredded instead of fresh full pieces
A new addition to Windsor that ticks al the boxes. Amazing fitout with roof top beer garden. Great for having a few drinks, or smashing a few burgers. These guys have done an awesome job and have thought of everything. Service is friendly and staff are really helpful.
