Review Kneading Ruby - Wollongong

Lovely venue, nice staff, pizza and pasta great! I would have loved it if the venue could make any cocktail you request rather than just the menu. Overall, 3 stars! Will be heading back 🙂

Never thought I’d knead this experience, this jewel of a venue, so befitting of the gem type within its name. Oh but what’s in a name? How doth you embrace the breeze of flavours, cultivating in your factory system? You can but pray for plates full to be of many carbs, some devoid of gluten, but filled with hearty meats and vegetables. Come hither, and discover a good wench to feed your drooling desires.

We opted for Kneading Ruby for a spontaneous date night and whilst the staff and venue were super lovely, there were a few let downs on the night. We ordered the garlic bread, prosciutto pizza, gnocchi, a deconstructed apple crumble and a couple of glasses of vino of course! To our surprise, the pizza was without a red base so instantly was not as expected. It was a beautiful base but just not exactly what we wanted. We ordered the gnocchi due to the popularity and whilst the gnocchi was technically brilliant, I just couldn’t enjoy the flavours. There is an overall flavour of meat in the dish but none whatsoever in the meal itself. I noticed in other photos, people seem to be served pieces of pancetta however ours had more of a crumb. I found it unenjoyable. The deconstructed apple crumble was a bit of a mess in how it was served. The crumb and the apple were beautiful but there was almost too much of the soy “custard” which was an odd flavoured, grainy mousse. The technical aspects of the food were great overall, but the flavours not really to our liking. The final element which really left a poor taste in our mouth was, as our server presented us with the eftpos machine to pay, she asked us directly “would you like to leave a tip for wait staff?”. I’ve dined in thousands of hospitality venues in tens of countries and I’ve not once been asked directly whether or not I’d like to give a tip. The option is always available and as we know, in some countries expected but being asked directly was quite awkward.

Just yum! One of the best pizzas I have ever had. The toppings are gorgeous but the best part is the beautiful dough. Pizza done to perfection with so much love and care. The gnocchi was also very impressive. Great staff. Fab wine list. Perfection

Great staff, good cocktails and pizza but the garlic bread was what blew our mind!

Two beautiful very old doors open to a rustic heaving environment. We were warmly welcomed, seated then selected from an excellent choice of items on the chalkboard menu. The service was attentive and the food especially the pizza was delicious. We will book again in a couple of weeks when we visit Wollongong.

Staff were professional and very welcoming. The menu is excellent with a great variety of delicious offerings. The dining room is well laid out but a little loud if you're looking for a romantic meal. Great for groups though

Just a little noisy, it is my only fault I found. Service was beyond exceptional, and the meal I had trouble not making yum sounds after each bite....its was an explosion of joy in my mouth. My mouth dance with joy with each mouthful of the market fish of the week, such a delicate king fish grilled so it just melted away. Oh my gosh all should dine at Kneading Ruby.....What excitment over such quality entering the world of the gong's dinning choices...wow wow wow.

Last night I had a family dinner for my 21st consisting of 50 people. I couldn’t have been happier. The food was absolutely amazing, and everyone enjoyed it. The gnocchi is to die for ! But it was mostly the staff who made the night truly amazing. The service is incredible, the staff were always around and making sure everyone was well looked after. I cannot recommend this place enough. ���

We had dinner last night with friends and the new menu did not disappoint. The food was amazing!!! We had all the smalls plus the pork which was delicious. We always get a pizza too and garlic bread that’s just a must. Service was perfect! Would highly recommend this is one of our favourite restaurants and we just keep coming back over and over again.

My husband and I dined at Kneading Ruby last night and can highly recommend it for the excellent quality of the food, the ambiance which is cool but welcoming and the friendly and knowledgeable service of our waitress, Alex. We selected from all sections of the menu as recommended and the food was all delicious, clearly made from quality ingredients and creative flair. We have eaten at a number of other goods restaurants and cafes in Wollongong while visiting from Brisbane but Kneading Ruby is our absolute favourite and we would definitely eat here again to try other dishes on the menu.

In Wollongong on a short stay and dined here both nights, the place the staff the food the wine the cocktails the coffee. Lovely Fred talked us through the vegan options and recommended a killer drop of Red. Its so refreshing to find a place that obviously cares so much about the quality of everything they do. Make sure to book but mostly make sure you go there. Five stars! Unforgettable! !

Went here recently to celebrate my 21st birthday with a group of 11 people We got the set menu, and was able to adjust items to match taste preferences and dietary requirements The food was all amazing, and there was plenty of it! We couldn't finish it all, so definitely worth the price per head! Staff were all lovely, and the cocktails were amazing! Would highly recommend the pork cotoletta and the gnocchi!!

Thankyou for another lovely evening filled with delicious food. Love the ambience and decor, the staff are so friendly, accommodating and knowledgable and the food is always fresh, flavoursome and down right delicious! Thankyou, we will be back to this little hidden gem.

A few weeks ago we went here for my friends hens dinner, not knowing the area we got lost and went to the wrong place. The guy Fred that was running the front desk was awesome and held our table and the service we had from the waitress Vivian was amazing seen as this was our first time she suggested we share a few dishes and the food did not disappoint. Can't wait to go back soon �

We have been here a couple of times and both times we had amazing food (decent sized portions), there was a great atmosphere and top notch service. One of our all time favourite restaurants.

Best restaurant in Wollongong by far .. We took our mothers out for Mother's Day and was totally blown away with the staff , atmosphere & hospitality.... the food was like nothing we had experienced & it was a truely special & a night to remember ... big thanks to your beautiful staff xxx We will definitely be back x

10/10 went there for the first time tonight pizza, seafood soup, a pasta dish & a couple of nice cocktails. Modern Italian at its best!!

We ate at Kneading Ruby last night, for the umpteenth time. We celebrated a birthday (8 of us) and as per usual the food and the service were absolutely faultless. Whether sitting at the bar for a pizza and a glass of wine, or sharing at a table with others, no matter how busy it is, you have never once dropped the ball. Good work - Wollongong would be lost without you and you are sure showing the way. See you again soon.

Absolutely fantastic Great service and some amazing dishes we ordered a mushroom brocolini and parmesan pizza in truffle oil fried olives and quite frankly the best gnocchi to ever address my pallet. We had a gorgeous Oakdale Rosè to spoil ourselves also. Amazing!
