Review An Chut Chut - Wollongong

Try this tasty street Vietnamese restaurant. Eat out under the trees in the precinct. You can crunch on crispy banh mi, slurp on super rich pho (beef or pork). I tried the rice paper rolls with chicken, the baked bao and a tapioca dumpling. It’s a treat to have this in Wollongong. And try one of the really unique teas. Worth two visits.

The food here was very tasty, and very large in size. The service was not to bad, and was acceptable. Good atmosphere and well decorated

I thought I'd hate this purely because of the price. Probably one of the best pork rolls I've ever eaten though! The pork amazing, the flavour in the herbs and salad ridiculously good. Would smash again though for sure.

Tucked away at the back of the courtyard between the Wollongong Art Gallery and Performing Arts Centre is a hidden foodie gem!!! An Chut Chut serves up traditional Vietnamese food with a wonderful twist. Whilst the venue has limited seating inside the proximity to the large public courtyard means that alfresco dining is the order of the day. Fair weather dining sees lunch time office workers pour into this tranquil oasis away from the hustle and bustle of nearby Crown and Burelli Streets. The varying incarnations of seating add to the street food experience that makes this such a fun place to eat. Everything on the menu is fresh and thoughtfully prepared. Servings are generous and packed with flavour. Service is fast and friendly and meals come out quickly which is great for those on a tight lunch break. On the day we visited we opted for the Vietnamese pancake and noodle salad. The noodle salad was served with delicious thick noodles that everyone loves. Warm and coated in a beautiful sauce then covered with fresh crispy salad and perfectly cooked pork pieces. The two spring rolls making a great dish even more enjoyable. The stand out, must try, dish at An Chut Chut is the Vietnamese pancake! Put all your ideas of what a Vietnamese pancake should be into the old and boring box because what is served in this pancake is way outside the box and bloody terrific. The delicate rice flour pancake is crispy on the bottom and moist and sumptuous on the flip side. Loaded on top is a burst of fresh salad and herbs and the meat (veg options available too) of your choice cooked in a subtle but complimentary marinade. The addition of freshly desiccated coconut and bubble tea style popping pomegranate all combine to make this a fascinating and delicious feast! The way to eat this dish is to get into it with your hands, breaking off a piece of the pancake base and loading it up with the salad and meat; it’s a fun and intimate connection between food and foodie that makes the world a happier place 😀. We washed our meals down with a refreshing ice tea and a sensually sweet Vietnamese iced coffee. Both delicious! This little gem just hit my favourites list!! I will be back, over and over again!

I highly recommend This restaurant. They can be busy sometimes and the restaurant is quite small, but there’s sit outside. The food are yummy, unique, classy and cheap. The staff are amazing and friendly. They’re Always checking on us and feeling sorry because it was a little bit of rain. Just be careful for kids some food are can be spicy my son ate some spicy. They only open weekdays and 11-3pm. Good luck

My favourite lunch spot in Wollongong CBD. Self serve tea at the door entrance. The food is very authentic, really yummy, i usually go Traditional Vegan Meal (made up of 5-7 mini bowls!) , its simply devine, very generous servings. The service is quite fast. Really friendly owners and staff. Outdoor and indoor eating. You will want to visit here more than just once!

Daily menu can change but always has options for vegan & meat eaters - option a full range of options for everyone - vegan, chicken, pork, fish, beef.... The food is interesting, fresh, incredibly tasty and very well priced. No neon lights and blaring music - which is a nice change from most other places. Tucked behind the always busy Lee & Me and looks out to the IPAC and the back of the art gallery. Food is available to take away & the containers & cutlery are eco friendly.

I've mentioned this wonderful Vietnamese cafe elsewhere on Fb but just in case the message hadn't spread around town yet I'm doing everyone a favour by sharing again!! This little heavenly place is a delight. The food is fresh and tasty, the staff are so welcoming and the owner and chef, Yen, is so generous and explains the dishes every time. The menu changes daily and there's always a vegan as well as vegetarian option amongst a couple of meat dishes. ( I have to admit to an addiction to the vegan pancake though). I could happily eat there everyday.

I love An Chut Chut! I adore your vegan food - the super yummy taste and the absolute freshness of the ingredients. I have tried three amazing dishes. Loved them all. Don't get me started on the vegan salad and spring rolls. The atmosphere is so special, as is the service. Such attention and kindness. I have been three times when visiting Wollongong. I am so blessed to have been introduced to this little treasure! I will be back. Thank you.

Wonderful place with delicious and authentic Vietnamese food. I tried the vietnamese vegan pancake, very crispy and super taste. Chiken stewed with lemongrass and coconut was very good. The fresh pork and beef paper roll was my favourite, incredible! Friendly staff and great atmosphere!

Absolutely perfect ! The people are friendly, warm, welcoming and so helpful. I wanted to stay all day and soak up the charm . The food was divine .There were 2 meat dishes on the day I went but the several fantastic vegan & vegetarian options are so glorious that even if you like meat you will want to try these delicious dishes. The desert I had was the most unusual but delightfully delicious thing I have ever tasted in my life with ice, mango, lychee, little black beans, coconut, strawberry, ice cream and quite a lot of mysterious ingredients including avocado !!! I can't wait to try it again and I will be back .

Thanks for the amazing food provided for my 50th birthday celebration, It was such a treat to enjoy authentic Vietnamese food that tasted like you would expect if travelling in Vietnam, so fresh and full of spice and flavour. Highly recommended to anyone who loves good food and is tired of the same old westernised dishes.
