The Throsby is my favourite place to meet friends, enjoy a delicious glass of wine, and a bite to eat, in the Illawarra.
Maddie and Erick (who I have got to know through coming here so often), are amazing hosts. Their staff are well informed and the attention to detail is a breathe of fresh air.
They are true hospitality people, which shows in their well thought out and ever changing wine list.
Even with this level of sophistication, in both food and wine, there is no pretension at all, it is an inclusive & inviting environment.
It's truly a place where you can relax and enjoy a quality experience.

These guys are two of the most knowledgable wine buffs I know! They get bloody excited about good wine and work their butts off to pour incredible vino to all of us here in Wollongong. This is what passion is people!! We � the Throsby!!!!!
Nicely decorated with romantic lighting. Good wine options. Haven’t tried the food, but it looked and smelled good. Cheese board hit the spot, although I’ve had better (still good, though). Would be a good location for a date, after work drinks, catch up with friends.
Great relaxed atmosphere! Amazing selection of wines and cheeses to choose from and the friendly staff are more than happy to provide more info on either if needed. Will definitely be going back there!!!
My husband and I really enjoyed our evening here a few days ago. The food was delicious, thoughtfully prepared and presented and the paired wines were excellent.
The courtyard is really lovely and the perfect relaxed venue for a light meal.
My wife and I were first time visitors recently and we were very impressed with the whole experience. From the seating in the courtyard to the selection of drinks and food available...it was all first class. Would highly recommend this terrific wine bar to others, they have definitely found their niche in a competitive market.
A truly wonderful selection of wines paired with inventive and delicious Italian cuisine. We had so much fun at wine club. The owners, chef and “Vinopenny” all spent time with us. They were very engaging when discussing their passions. Can’t wait until the next night in.

Thanks for a lovely event on Monday evening. The food was excellent and the mix and pairing of the wines was great.
My only criticism was the amount of food. Given the event was 6-9, we would have appreciated something more substantial during what is normally dinner hours and of course while consuming alcohol.
Otherwise we had a terrific evening.

Great selection of wines and knowledgeable staff.
Cheese platters were well worth trying also.
Throsby isn't a place trying to be anything more than it is - a nice place for a chat over a few wines and cheese.
