The combination roll tastes good. Probably one of the best I have tried in Adelaide so far. The meat was well prepared and taste great.

This is more of a takeaway shop. There are a few high stools if you choose to dine in. The staff weren't exceptionally friendly but not rude. Could do with a bit more of attentiveness. I requested for additional chilli sauce but was ignored/forgotten.

Will return as the Bahn Mi is really good. Hopefully, the experience will be way better next time!

Time was when Banh Mi were a bit exotic and an unknown quantity. I remember having one in a market in Melbourne and thinking myself quite the cosmopolitan.

Now of course you can't throw a rock without having a fair chance of hitting a place that does "Vietnamese Meat Rolls". There are even chains of franchises doing them.

Of course with so many people doing them you start to lose the authentic flavours of the thing. I suspect that quite a few of these have a connection with Vietnam in the sense that Terry behind the counter who's making them once watched most of "Apocalypse Now" I had one that was more like a beef salad roll than anything Vietnamese.

So it's really a treat to head somewhere like this place that is making no concessions whatsoever to Western tastes. This is really, truly Banh Mi just like they've been made for years.

Two of us headed in and ordered two Banh Mi a drink from the fridge and an unfeasibly strong Vietnamese iced coffee.

First thing to note... Despite the sign on the wall apologising for a price rise we were out of there for about $17.50 all up. This is cheap beyond all sense.

I ordered a combination roll - full of roast pork. Meatloaf, various mystery meats coriander, real pickled vegetables and slices of hot green chilli. The bread roll was like a fluffy cloud inside an eggshell. Fresh, perfect and delicious.

My partner ordered something I've never seen before: a sardine Banh Mi. The same bits and pieces, but with a sort of salty, fishy pate slathered on thickly. I was assured it was excellent.

So, cheap, fresh, authentic and delicious. Pretty much a gold star from me.

One of the tastiest rolls you can get on Adelaide. Long term player in the meat roll game for a reason! Combination rolls are generous and weighty compared to alot of others out there! Will not be disappointed.

My first time here and I had the combination roll for $5, which in my opinion is cheap. The pork was ok - there was a hard burnt piece in my roll, but other fillings were very nice. There was meat and salad in every bite. I might come back again.

My fave banh mi spot in Adelaide. Perfection everytime I come here and order a combination roll. The breads fresh, the porks delish, the crackling is mouth watering. They had grilled onions which gives it a nice additional flavour alongside all the other usual suspects. Can't go wrong with this place. There is room for 4 people to dine in, cold rolls are always sold out by the time I get here so haven't had a chance to try them yet.

Back to Banh Mi land~ Today I went to try Nhu Lan and it was a nice place which surprisingly had a dine in option. Besides from banh mi they also offered snacks like springs rolls and cold rolls, and also main dishes like vermicelli noodles.

I ordered the combination roll and it was brilliant! This was one of the most packed banh mi ive ever had, and it was much longer than normal. The banh mi was filled with meat, and each of them were nice and fresh. The only downside for the one i had was that the roast pork had a little too much fat. At one stage, i was literally just eating fat... There was also a very different additional to this banh mi, and it was onions. I never had a banh mi that has onions in it, and its the ones you find in sausage sizzles. It was very unique but i guess adds another level of flavour into it.

Overall, i was more than satisfied with the banh mis here, and would definitly rank it near the top of my "go to banh mi" places.

One of the best bread rolls in Adelaide!!! These rolls are full of flavour & I suspect have grilled onion in it. Tastes like a grilled meat banh mi. I always get the combination roll. Packed full of meat and is the pork is always crispy. They don't skimp on anything and use everything- pate, garlic butter and all the real Vietnamese meats. Authentic and highly recommended.

Every time I visit it's like I've died and gone to Banh Mi heaven. The roll is perfect, crackling crispy and the service ridiculously thorough and fast.

The benchmark. If anyone wants to try the perfect Bahn Mi look no further. This is it. The bread roll is perfect. Crunchy on outside and fresh and soft in the middle. The meat is generously packed into that fresh roll - which has been marinated and cooked to perfection. The pickled veg are perfection and add a sweetness and balance to the flavours that hit you when you enjoy this roll. The fact this tiny place is always packed with both suits and tradies lining up to get their Bahn mi fix shows the word has spread. Love.

Dinner at @nhu_lan_on_hanson from a few weeks ago: we wanted to have some classic Vietnamese food, and this place is definitely a good choice 😊😊. No frills, but good food is all you need 😋😋. . Combination broken rice: the roast pork crackling was not as crunchy as it could have been, but overall very tasty! . Combination rice vermicelli: absolutely loved the sugarcane prawns! The spring rolls were super yummy too 😋. . Pork and prawn rice paper rolls: nicely done. No complaints! . Banh xeo: we love Vietnamese pancakes! This one was slightly on the greasy side, but it's totally delicious!

The only place in Adelaide where I've found bò né and it did not disappoint! Everything about the dish tasted so good, crunchy fresh bread and fast service. Will definitely come back again!

Good service, very clean and well presented. They have a good variety of dishes. We ordered spicy beef noodles and vietnamese sizzling steak. I've ordered the same noodle dish at other places before but this one was just overly spicy. It's almost inedible due to the chilli over powering the whole dish. The soup base could use more depth and flavour too. The steak was enjoyable, they cook it viet style so it's more on the well done side rather than medium rare. Would definitely come back to try other dishes on their menu.

Nhu Lan is Adelaide’s Most Authentic Vietnamese Restaurant. Best of the best, highly recommended. You know it’s the real deal when during lunch and dinner hours the place is packed full of hungry Vietnamese-Australians dining in and people are willing to wait in line outside the place. The food is delicious and is very affordable, hence why the place is so busy. For people dining in I’d recommend trying the Pho and for vegetarians try the make-your-own-vegetarian cold rolls. Even if you don’t feel like dining in, Banh Mi Nhu Lan make the best Vietnamese bread rolls in Adelaide - the rolls have an amazing ratio of meats to vegetables and the quality of the meats is superb. The combination roll is a must try for any newbies. If you’re after a dining experience where you want the staff to pamper all your needs and to worship you as if you’re like some sort of deity, then this place is NOT for you. This place is for those who want a great feed in a straightforward environment - the staff are professional and friendly as they need to be, which is good enough in my books.

Great place for quality Vietnamese food. Broken rice and Bo Ne are two of my favourite dishes here. Pho and their other soups are also highly recommended. Best Banh Mi in rads by a long shot.

This newly revamped Banh Mi Nhu Lan is our new favourite Vietnamese hangout. We've tried their Vietnamese Pancake, Steak and Eggs, Combo Pho and Pnomh Penh noodles and they were all deeellliiiiccciiioouusssssssssss. Service was also very quick and efficient even during their peak times! Their menu has many other dishes you don't come across in other Vietnamese eateries nearby, so we'll definitely be coming back here a few more times to try them, and will probably not stop as long as they keep on cooking the way they cook.
