I hadn’t been to Buon Ricordo for a number of years and I was so glad we returned last Saturday for lunch. I love the old school service, the tapestry chairs and the paccheri with cod (pictured) that I ordered was absolutely divine and cooked to perfection! #buonricordo
Amazing food, every single dish was perfect. Definitely recommend the egg truffle fettuccine and gnocchi. One of my favourite restaurants, perfect place for date night
Amuse-bouche of tomato and basil macerated in olive oil, on toast
(...fresh and subtle, diced sweet tomatoes and basil, macerated in olive oil until the olive oil has picked up an orange hue, served on a crunchy bite of toast...)
Grilled baby calamari with rocket leaves, lemon, chilli and herb dressing
(...packed with chargrilled flavour, set against the bite of the rocket leaves, with a bread-dippingly good dressing of lemon, chilli and herbs. Very generous serving...)
Fettucine in creamy Parmesan cheese sauce with truffled egg
(...the waiter shaved and shaved the Parmesan cheese onto the plate and then SUDDENLY, I was drawn into the dish by the overwhelmingly rich aroma of the truffles! The sauce was SO flavorful and RICH! The truffle stayed clinging onto the inside of my nose, the top of my palate and the back of my throat - despite having lots of water and a cocktail. In fact, 2 hours later, I burped...and I was smelling the delicious truffle aroma all over again...)
Char-grilled T-bone steak with green beans and potatoes (...mouth-drippingly good charcoaled crispy bits on the outside, but very rare on the inside, as specified. It can be very hard to get the outside charcoaled while keeping the inside very rare - lots of places can't do it! But this was perfect. The side course of roasted potatoes wafted butter, and the green beans were faultlessly fresh and tenderly cooked...)
Nougat semifreddo with syrupped fruits, candied fruits and pistachio cream
(...crunchy nutty nougat on an ice cold semifreddo was refreshingly re-awakening on this long Indian summer’s lunch day. The syrup soaked fruits and the candied fruits were like little jewel drops of flavour...)
Buon Ricordo came highly recommended by the BFF, she said it serves the best carbonara she has tasted so I had to come try! Their version of carbonara is with fettucine, cream and parmesan topped with fried truffle egg. I only managed to take a picture of the "tossed" version. I didn't have time to take a proper photo before it was tossed at the table as I didn't know they did that! lol the sauce was great!
The truffle egg parmesan pasta was why we came, and boy was it worth it- simple, delicious, totally moreish. The service was extremely formal- sort of felt cold, but I guess you can't complain about being treated too politely... Anyway, the dish lived up to its reputation, and that is a blessing!
Truffle pasta !! We have been a couple of times and it's always so delicious! The school prawns fried with chili oil are so good when they are the special menu. Fond memories of the bruschetta as well - tomatoes are amazing. Can't wait to go back
The service was impeccable and food exceptional. Whole boned baby snapper was very tasty and fresh. Vegetables were great. Expensive but worth it.
The food was nice (4/5) but the service was a bit too slow (3/5). Took them at least 20 mins to get our order. The staff there was friendly tho.
This was not an ordinary meal last night. A winery had booked the entire restaurant for a wine maker's dinner. So I won't talk about the wine.So for the kitchen staff to pump out about 100 meals, the same meals, was an amazing effort and from what I heard there was consistent quality. The staff were exceptionally professional, under the watchful glaze of Armando Percuoco, the experience was amazing, it had been about 16 years since I was last there and was amazed that the quality of the Italian food has consistently increased over my last recollection and also based on what other at the event had said.So given the context of the evening I was very impressed about the quality of food and service. While some of the dishes were not to my palate, I can appreciate them and the quality of them.I only wish the Angus steak was bigger as it was so tender and flavoursome, I could have eaten 3 or 4 of them - I wish I could buy steak that tender from my local supermarket (I don't have a local butcher near where I live). For ethical reasons I am not a fan of foie gras, and took it off (I have only eaten it once in my life and that was earlier this year). The pancetta was more like floppy bacon wrapped around the steak than what I expected - but either way, I also took that off (why ruin great steak with pig meat - if it is not red meat then it is not real meat :) )The chocolate dessert (Cioccolato di Verona) was spot on for me - not to rich or sweet - a very good balance of the two.Highly recommend this bastion of fine Italian food to anyone wanting fine food and a memorable evening.
Excellent dining experience as always, service is impeccable. Our degustation was amazing - catered to each individual. Every dish was full of flavour.. I can't wait to go back 👍
Certainly no complaints from my side. Buon Ricordo is definitely one of Sydney’s best Italian joints. Absolutely loved the Pork Sausages, Truffle Pasta and School Prawns being my absolute favourite. If you haven’t given this place a go, you should. You won’t be disappointed.
Buon Ricordo Ristorante is a Sydney institution that I haven't had the opportunity to dine at until today and I have to say it was one of the best Italian meals I have had in Sydney. The FETTUCINE AL TARTUFOVO (Cream and parmesan, topped with a fried truffle egg, tossed at the table), FAGOTTINI (Pork and veal sausages bound with parmesan, truffle egg and pork trotter; finished with lemon infused extra virgin olive oil) and BRACIOLETTE REGINALDO (Crumbed veal rolled with spinach, nutmeg and parmesan. Grilled and drizzled with extra virgin olive oil and lemon) were particular stand outs and I can see why they are signature dishes at this restaurant.
I am not a religious man but if God exists he's working in the kitchen of Buon Ricordo & I imagine he had a hand in making the Fettuccine Al Tartufovo, what flavours, textures & what genius, that in itself was a 'Bucket List' dish!! We also indulged in the Gnocchi Sorentina (sensational), Porchetta alla Romana (mouth watering with the most amazing crackling) & Agnello (a huge portion of the most perfectly rose-cooked lamb). Cibo fantastico!!! The front of house staff were also perfect to a Tee, professional but upbeat & funny, well done guys!
Amazing traditional Italian restaurant, with food done right! The service is impeccable, amazing wine list from both Italy and Australia. Be warned, the menu is on the pricier end of town but Buon Ricordo is not a place you'd come to skim, as dishes such as their famous truffled egg pasta is what you would expect.
Great restaurant which feels a bit like stepping back in time Sydney style. Attentive service and magnificent desserts. Possibly the best restaurant I’ve been to in Sydney to date.
Absolutely lovely! The menu is so interesting! You want to try one of everything! The flavours delightful! Some unusual things on the menu, like glacier 51 toothfish, I'd never seen or heard of that before. The silky texture, the marriage of the accompanying flavours, delightful! The 1000 layers, Apple dessert…! Just lovely! The textures & flavours, just lovely!
The service, good. Friendly, attentive, but in more way too much, not too overbearing. The whole experience was great!
It is expensive, but this is a top end restaurant & it was worth it.
The truffle egg pasta was devine! The entrees were also delicious. The mains were a bit heavy for me. Another standout feature of this restaurant was the excellent service. Would definitely recommend!
