Lentil was always high on my list for catering. I love their food and I love what they do, but my only real experience with them had been from their Abbotsford location which is a bit more casual and buffet style and sometimes reminds me of a college mess hall. Trusting them with our wedding took a small leap of faith but it was the best leap of faith we could have taken. We were placed in the very capable hands of Ken and chef PK. Ken was such a delight to chat with on the phone we practically invited him to the wedding as a guest. We can be some pretty particular diners and our catering requests were many. Our menu had to cater for several different tastes, and types of people while still being entirely vegan, and gluten free. As a diabetic I also had some other requests to help me manage the glycemic index of the meal and they were so accommodating. They sent us a sample menu to look over with multiple options for each category. And then once I made my selections they were able to make minor adjustments as the day approached based on seasonality of ingredients. I should also mention that they were able to do all this for a budget that was small by wedding standards. On the day of the wedding they did get a bit lost getting to the venue (it was in a super remote place). But once there they got straight to work and dinner arrived right on time, and was constantly well looked after by their staff so that it was always hot and fresh and full. And it was DELICIOUS!!! All of our non-vegan extended family had to be reminded that what they were eating was vegan because they were too busy loading up their plates with seconds. Also, even though everything we discussed ended up at the wedding there was so much more. Extra little dishes, condiments, additions, and surprises made the presentation look so much richer and more special than anything I had ever seen at their restaurants. Make no mistake, if you need to cater an absolutely gourmet feast, Lentil is more than up to the task. I could not recommend them more highly!
It's a place where atmosphere and tasty food come together and create a gastronomic symphony of epic proportions.
Go down any day or night and a group of red clad volunteers will try their hardest to provide grand service and a fantastic meal.
I'd recommend this place to anyone who wants good food great atmosphere.
Beautiful place, tasty food. One of my favourite places in Melbourne for sure! Not only for the food, but also for the environment and purpose.
Maafe african stew, curry plate and vanilla cake. Everything was plated wonderfully, full of flavour and really vibrant atmosphere. This place fills up quick so best to come early.
Try the pancakes if you're getting breakfast. The place is beautiful and the staff is super friendly! They also donate to the bushfires and the staff is volunteers. Didn't even realize my cappucchino was vegan, it was perfect❤️
I love it!! the food is very nice!!! and the atmosphere too!! went there with some friends and we spent some times there too because it’s crowded but we can still hear each other, means the building were crafted well.
I loved the ambiance and the concept of this place, it reeks of positivity! The food is amazing! I had their lasagna, spinach rice, quinoa and rocket leaves’ salad and brownie and everything on the plate was lip smacking
As with all the Lentils spots you can't not love it.
This one has the pleasure of hosting you in the striking Abbotsford Convent which in itself is worth a visit just to enjoy the gardens.
True to the usual lentils expectations you'll be sure to enjoy the curry, whatever it may be that day.
Their cakes have also dramatically improved in recent months.
I hit this place on a consistent basis with friends and am rarely disappointed except for when they've already run out of something I was keen for because it already all got snapped up.

Hands down my favourite place ever!!! I absolutely love the food!!! But I love the concept! The staff are always so happy and helpful!! They will chat to you! Sing along! It’s such a great vibe!!

Beautiful concept. The food had such a home cooked feel to it, so warm and comforting. I especially loved the little momo stand that was there the day I went, making fresh steamed dumplings right in front of you. Definitely give this place a go, and take a walk around. Such a lovely area!
I tried this Masala Dosa with mashed potatoes and vegetable filling garnished with salad. The price of this delicious breakfast meal was in the form of a donation.
People is so kind. I went there with no cash, asked to pay the next day, and i was replied yes with no hesitation. I love these people, i love food for being so deliciously cooked with love. Thank you❤️
Cozy restaurant in the heart of Abbotsford Convent with a relaxed atmosphere set among greenery. Staff is friendly, efficient and helpful in explaining the pay-as-you-feel model. The vegetarian Indian food is fantastic. My favourite was the coconut chutney that accompanied the dosa. It was spicy but the potato in the dosa balanced it nicely. Will continue to visit.

Delicious and flavourful vegan food. Sadly from what i heard, it was the last day they are operating at my last visit. You'd be lucky to get a chance to eat there. Pay what you like for the food, but a generous donation is good.
We had our wedding at Lentil and all I can say is I couldn't ask for more... The staff went out of their way to spruce up the place and serve our guests. The music was good. The food was great! Our guests loved it. Some even said that they never thought vegan could be that good. Lol. Special thanks to Carlos and Param for making everything go smoothly. Love you guys. Won't hesitate to recommend to my friends.
Lentil As Anything is a company which endeavours to provide a set menu each day of the week and allow customers to pay what they are able to or what they believe it’s worth. You can also pay for your meal by volunteering for them. Roles available include waiting, cleaning and dishwashing. The menu is vegan and provides various healthy, flavoursome options from various cultures. There are even performances at the restaurant sometimes! Lentil As Anything in Abbotsford is conveniently located within the Abbotsford Convent and near the Collingwood Children’s Farm and therefore surrounded by historical buildings. The staff and volunteers are extremely friendly from what I have seen and I would recommend Lentil As Anything for those you like flavoursome vegan dishes.
Located in an abbey/convent. Went here on a friend's recommendation. Lunch buffet had 2 types of salad, curry and tofu bake. Desert banana cake in plum syrup. I personally loved the food selection and had 2 full plates. Pay is by donation (suggested $15). Will definitely be back
This place has everything you need to spend a nice weekend there.
Horses and ponies, pheasants, country side tracks, river side tracks, bushes and trees everywhere, it literally feels like you're in a remote country.
And the restaurant has some really tasty food! Vegan options available, we tried rotti kutthu (Sri lankan food) and it was yummy! You can eat for free if you can't pay, it's up to you, you can just donate and leave.
Highly recommend for dates, families and friend gatherings, specially dates would be romantic!
This is a restaurant everyone must come to at some point in their life. Extremely tasty food served by volunteers in an amazing venue within the covenant. The lunch buffet is an absolute must; healthy salads pastas and curries with something special always cooking outside. Live music on the occassion and the large number of patrons that pass through add amazing atmosphere to the location :)
