Review Bar Torino - Adelaide

Ben “BenSquig” Makepeace
Came back after popping in for a drink a few months ago. This time was for dinner. Really outstanding service and food from the team. Well done to Jin (not sure if that's the right spelling) for being super attentive and making good recommendations. The scallops were a highlight, along with the Gluten Free toast! A great night on a chilled out Monday night ☺️

Beautiful food Sth American inspired. Had a grand Pisco Sour here. Reasonable wine list. Menu not huge but plenty of choices to cover most tastes. Very good service. Not a cheap dinner but we were happy with the value considering the quality

This was the perfect launch pad for our Saturday afternoon drinks and by the time we left after a few cocktails, we were primed for the rest of the night. Delicious drinks and mixes with a slight twist. Friendly team and we enjoyed the outdoor area, soaking in the last rays of the afternoon

Always love Bar Torino, great staff, great drinks (they make a great Vespa) and great snacks. The vibe is classy yet fun and you always leave with a smile on your face. The staff have a great attitude and are both engaging, cheeky and knowledgeable.

Awesome place! Bit spensey $$$ but well worth it! Drinks and dinner were as tasty as my date ❤

Consistently excellent share dishes, drinks and service We needed Friday night drinks and tasty food and were pleased to score a table at the bar [Covid spacing] where we relaxed and enjoyed great service, drinks and food. The Covid check-in QR code was conveniently positioned on the food menu Mismatch pints were still $10 and Voyager sparkling was $11 per glass Our food arrived quickly - we enjoyed Anchovy toast, whipped ricotta, pickled cucumber [$5] - perfect starter Kingfish ceviche, coconut, lime, chilli, green tomato [$21] - delicious Abrolhos islands scallops, green chilli, pumpkin seeds, lime [$6] - a little chilli dominant but good value-4-money Casarecce, zucchini peos, broccolini, lemon mascarpone, fontina, pangrattato [$24] - a very generous dish we shared The staff handled the bustle very well, ensuring guests waiting outside for tables were brought in and seated when tables had been cleaned - high quality, friendly service It is always a pleasure spending time here

Fantastic cocktails with excellent staff. The drinks were made really fast and excellent quality

Sneaky wee pint whilst wandering down Hutt street. First time in this joint and I looooooove it. Awesome decor, cool beer selection, funky tunes and a friendly staff. Would definitely come back. Need to try the sangria I reckon.

Visited Bar Torino for Sunday morning brunch and ordered the 'all-in' big breakfast with an extra side. Asked for two share plates so my partner and I could share the meal. We were delighted when the waitress brought out two individual plates, each with half of the meal beautifully arranged -- we've ordered in this way at a lot of highly reviewed brunch places, but never had one do this for us! The meal was also fantastic; eggs poached well, tomatos flavourful and cooked just right, and the mushrooms sauteed in some kind of mushroom/butter (?) sauce were a highlight. Iced coffee similarly on point, super refreshing with no creams/sweeteners added. Great experience all up, both the service and food was head and shoulders above most of the brunch fare we've tried around the country. Price was on the more reasonable side at $17 for the big brekky before sides.

Service, beverage list, food all spot on. Atmosphere is great, highly recommend this place.

Wonderful and knowledgable staff, great fresh food that is well presented. One of my favourite places for lunch, highly recommend 👍

This place is fantastic! Great staff, excellent atmosphere, and delicious food and drinks. We spent New Year's Eve there and were looked after by Steph, who was an absolute delight. Best service we've had in ages. Thanks for having us! We'll be back again.

We had our staff party here on Sunday evening and we absolutely loved the food, wine, service and ambience of Bar Torino. Thank you for making our night so enjoyable! We will all be back ☺️

For a busy sunday night I think the staff both front and back smashed it. Food was on point, table service with the cricket in the background, beer was cold and the company was 💯

Congratulations on the bar, looks busy every time in walk past and has a great feel to the place ever time iv had a quick drink. Beautifully designed interior, friendly staff, absolutely delicious food & a great wine list! Good luck for the future #radioboom james gregory

I adore this place and it always gets top marks from me - the only distraction yesterday was the loud shite music that was obviously someone's personal taste!! Some tracks were really just like head banging/Art/Gothic funk/rock & just not appropriate for a lazy lunch on a Sunday! Paella and everything else perfect though!

Just had a fantastic lunch with great service, food was amazing we had the fried cauliflower , meat balls , tortilla with caramelised onions and the potato frittata , we absolutely loved it and will definitely be going back

Everytime we are in Adelaide this bar is always on our list to visit! Service is always impeccable just like the food, drink and venue!

Great food, went for the tapas menu. Fresh vibrant food, great service.

Disgusted. I used to love the Pinot Noir here and just ordered 2 glasses without even thinking (no-brainier). Unfortunately, what follows was nothing but disappointment. The wine tasted like cleaning products - there had to be something wrong with the wine; or the bar has lost its touch with its choice in wine ... The bar-tender took a try and told me it's fine but offered another glass since we didn't like it. I gracefully accepted and apologised, then she poured the wines and proceeded to ask me for another $21 Excuse me?!? Do you really think I am happy to pay $42 for 2 glasses of shit wine she then proceeded to declare there was 'nothing wrong' with it (subjective opinion) and since we had both had sips she couldn't "pour it back into the bottle" so she had to charge me for the glasses she had 'offered me'. We left, unable to drink the poison we settled for and moved on to the Havlock where we were offered 2 delicious glasses on the house, after venting our disappointment with the service at Bar Torino. Unbelievable. I know where I will be going next time.

Delicious in every way - not only the food and drinks are first rate but the whole team makes you feel so welcome. Highly recommend. Thanks for a great night!

Gorgeous wines, delicious food and the most delightful people. The best luck to find it as our late night local, just round the corner from our Air B&B. Too easy to drop in every evening...

Went there today for the first time and had an amazing brunch. Staff were attentive and friendly, service was efficient and food was fantastic! Loved the cured meats platter and salmon. Will definitely be back.
Rachael
Such a great place! Accommodated our large group as a walk in. Staff were lovely & food was just spot on. Have to say, the wine list isn’t bad either. This is my second visit & will be back again for sure.
Asha
The place might be small but their drinks list certainly isn't ! So many options to choose from and you can have nibbles too! Can get pretty crowded on a Friday or Saturday night so best to make a reservation.

I’ve been here twice now and both times has been an amazing experiance . The staff are welcoming, attentive and knowledgeable. The food comes out quickly and the drinks are attended to promptly. Everything we have eaten here has been phenomenal, the gnocchi is particularly a standout for me. The atmosphere is great, the place is very ambient, is decorated well and has a classic yet modern vibe. Highly recommend this place if you’re in the area, it’s normally easy to park. Perfect spot for a date or after work drinks. Try the croquettes!
Ethical Hedonist
Great cozy bar for a drink with a date or close friends. The drinks menu has a good selection and the staff know their way around cocktail making. I haven't tried the food, but can definitely recommend the place for a drink!
AP
Good set up, a touch of class without being over the top. Be prepared to pay a bit for a drink but a great selection to choose from. Worth a visit.
Global Gastronomista
Visited this spot with friends for drinks before dinner. Vibrant atmosphere with really friendly staff . The bar was well stocked with out of the norm gins and had a good selection of beers on tap. I’ll be coming back.

Im loving these little bars popping up in Adelaide and Bar Torino is a strong contender in the mix! The kids of Chianti restaurant, how can it not be great?
Awesome flavoured tapas, great atmosphere and staff, gin..... and much more!
Highly recommended and will be back 😊
N
Deeeelicious! I came here on a Sunday night with a group of 8. Therefore we got to sample a lot of different dishes, each were well seasoned and cooked very well. Our favourite has got to be the duck ragu with torn pasta.

We also had 2 vegetarians and there were heaps of options for them.

The only gripe I have with them is that we ordered Churros for $8 and we only got 2 very small sticks of churros! They're nice but NOT $4 each nice!
Vickothefoodo
A prime location and great spot for tapas, cocktails and sangria jugs to start off your Friday night. The staff were all very friendly, service was quick and food was delicious. Bar Torino, had run out of a few dishes on the night (we were ordering about 7:30pm) which was my only disappointment. Certainly a spot to check out!

Thumbs up for the food and drinks! customer service is super friendly! Can't go past the cauliflower flowers or the arancini balls super delicious
WinkyWombat
Amazing atmosphere, amazing deserts, lovely staff. Made us feel really welcome. Rum selection provided welcome relief to all the wine we have been drinking in the Barossa. Golden gaytime desert was delicious!

Bar Torino is the perfect spot for a drink with friends or a pre dinner drink with your partner. Centrally located it offers dining with tapas options and cheese boards to share between those your catching up with. The cocktails are delicious and there are plenty to choose from with some mocktails also available should you prefer. The staff are very accommodating and come to the table to take orders which is great. There's an outdoor area and a courtyard out the back. People of all ages come here so you'll always fit in. Give it a go, you'll love it.

Magnificent meal with my S.O
Meatballs reminded my partner of her mother's cooking which brought her joy.
Would recommend, would definitely return!

This place gets all the ticks, food boom, service boom and great atmosphere, looking for great place to eat and hangout for drinks then get around it 👍🏽😁

Ok wow.
Loved pretty much everything about it.
Brother came down from Sydney who also works in fine dining hospitality.
Food was delicious. 10/10 would try everything we had again. We had cocktails the whole evening before moving on and the cocktails and waiters knowledge of cocktails were impressive (my brother was testing them).
Service was fantastic. Was a Sunday night people were out for their Sunday sesh but the service was still impeccable.
Next time I have babysitting I'm going to pay a visit.

I've been here a couple of times in the past few weeks because I am that impressed with the place. Got a really cool ambience and always pulls a good crowd. Staff were extremely knowledgeable of the drinks - I'm not massively educated on sherry, but seeing as we were having a cheese platter, I had a dabble. The bartender took us through the sherry menu giving us a tiny taste of each, and giving us a bit of know how on what we're tasting and why. How cool's that?! So we ordered a sherry and continued our cheese platter, which came after an amazing assortment of plates for sharing.MUST Tries:- THE CROQUETTES (YUM)- the meatballs- the tempura cauliflowerSome amazing depth of flavour coming out of this kitchen. Impressed.

The little sister of Chianti next door.

Welcome to Hutt Street and how good to have you.

I love this place. It has a cool vibe but not so icy cool that middle aged women feel like they are too fat or ugly to enter!

Havent had proper food there yet just some bar snacks which were excellent.

A friend & I decided to try out Bar Torino on the Sunday of the long Labour day week-end. Nothing else open, but what a treat. I have been here before for a quick snack & a glass of wine, but never for lunch. We were met at the bar by the very helpful & cheery staff & the day only got better. The menu is meant to share which is what we did. The sardines were superb & recommended. For a main course we shared the paella, but it came to the table cool which put a bit of a downer on the gastronomic experience. Though this was mitigated by the waitress sourcing a bottle of Verduno Pelaverga from next door, an older Italian grape variety from Northern Italy, delicious. We had a very comfortable & enjoyable lunch & I am sure will be returning soon.

Just spent a lovely afternoon at Bar Torino with friends. First impressions very good with the decor being very appealing even though I felt a little old. It is a blend of the old building and more modern features.

The menu had a number of tapas type items, which during the afternoon we sampled a wide selection of them.

The standard of the food was generally excellent, the meat balls were a little boring but still ok. For me there were two absolute stand out dishes, Sardine Pintxos (Sardine, almonds, sultanas on ciabatta) and Bocadillo Calamares (squid ink sandwich with crispy calamari) these were great.

We had other dishes I would recommend, like the Croquetas, haloumi, charcuterie, deep fried cauliflower plus a few others.

We also had a number of the gin cocktails all of which were delicious.

In summary a delightful establishment with only one problem, the coffee, it would be nice to have a decent size cup.

I will be returning to as the weather warms up to have more of those gin cocktails and those sardines.

One of the few places in Adelaide to have a glass of wine and some tapas during the day. The food was delicious and the wine list is great. We had the patatas bravas - the sauce was so good - and the olives. Both were good sized portions and well priced. The wine was excellent and the staff were knowledgable and friendly. Can't fault it!

Bar Torino fits in perfectly next to Chianti Restaurant on Hutt Street in the CBD. We popped in early on a Friday night to find the place filling up very quickly. We were still looking at the menu when the waiting list for tables already started. A promising sign. The drinks list is extensive from cocktails to a rather well-rounded wine and beer list. As usual I asked if they would make me a mocktail and the bartender happily obliged.

Three of us tried 12 dishes. Some dishes were just deep fried portions just plonked on a plate too small for 1 person.Tomato rubbed bread that the diner has to rub tomato on toasted bread, not authentic and lazy by kitchen staff . Rubb bread b4 toasting and you get a more authentic flavor. Other dishes had sauces that didn't taste like they were made in house , like something out of a bottle. 4 dishes were so over salted our lips were tingling.
Try Comida at central market for real tapas made by geniuses not apprentices

What a great place to go after work for drinks and food.

Despite not having an extensive proper menu, Bar Torino still shines with its tapas style platters. Try the papatas bravas (yum), the tortillas (which is actually an omelette tortillas!) and polenta chips (will change your life). The duck and watermelon was a chance that we took and were pleasantly surprised.

The cocktails were also top notch - try the Lemon Meringue Flip! Absolutely delightful. Staff are courteous and lovely too.

Went to bar Torino for dinner and some drinks Saturday night. Was very busy but we were still able to find a table outside as its was a great night to sit outside. Great little bar, love the outside area to watch the trendy people walk past, and the decor inside is fantastic. Bit confusing with service, we were not sure if we should wait for table service for our food order or go to the bar. Friendly service overall but hard to get anyone's attention to take our order. Two of us got the lamb and "haloumi" skewers and the reason for the "" around haloumi as it was barely represented on the skewer; we both had 3 pieces about the size of a 20 cent piece on two very big skewers with lots of lamb on it. We were both disappointed at the absence of haloumi but on the positive the lamb was cooked well and the sauce provided was very tasty. We had wine but the cocktails coming out looked amazing. Despite the let down with the food I will be back to enjoy a cocktail on a nice summers night.

Everything is good about this place.

How can you go wrong? Same peeps as Chianti- only thing missing is Maria but still 💯

Paella is the best also wine on tap? Yes!

Awesome venue for G&T.. I recommend the Four Pillars. Tartare was to-die-for! Beautiful setting. Right smack in the city. Excellent service by the staff.

Great bar! Fantastic atmosphere. Excellent wine list and great food menu. After 10.30pm they do a late night menu which is a smaller version of their usual menu. The beef cheek toastie hit the spot for a late night snack. Good cocktails.

Birthday lunch at Bar Torino! Yay! When my interstate visitor asked me, So? Where would you like to go to lunch? Awesome, here's my chance! We headed straight to Hutt Street as another foodie friend had been here the day before and loved it. Good choice, I must say, we loved it! This place is sooo Uber Chic Swanky and probably one of the "To Be Seen" Places in Adelaide ATM!
Started with some delicious cocktails, then proceeded to order a fair bit off the menu as we were starving!
Started with tuna cigars, loved it! Squid ink sandwich, yum. Mushroom croquette, good flavour but I would have loved a bit more shroom texture in the filling and they are quite small. Potato tortilla, good flavour but potato unfortunately was undercooked. Prawn & Bacon empanada, again, great flavours and again would have loved some more prawn texture in the filling, the sweet sauce that went with it, well not too sure on that, but the pastry is great. Beetroot & goat cheese salad was the highlight, loved it, small tincy tiny critique, would have loved a crunch factor in this dish, crushed walnuts or something, but still a lovely dish. Jamon Pintxos and sardine, these are a little small for the price but very good. What I loved the most about all of the dishes was that I did not need to add any salt to anything! Amazing for me! Creme Catalana to finish and it was uber spoon cracking delicious. Service was quick and on the ball. Would definately return for the food and to try some more dishes on the menu. Great place for friends, drinks and bites and no heavy food coma afterwards!

Another visit!!
I just needed to mention that we returned for lunch here with a few friends and the food was excellent. I must applaud the soft shell crab dish, it was just so moist, fresh and divine. Kingfish good, peppers and tuna cigars. Meatball lover foodie did not speak a word whilst he demolished his meatball dish, we didn't even get a taste! Well done Bar Torino team, keep up the good work.

This is one of my favourite bars in Adelaide. It's an awesome place to grab pre or post dinner drinks or chill out on a Sunday arvo and the food is good enough to just stay there for dinner.

Food:
Just like the head chef himself, the menu is quite interesting and different. With an obvious Spanish undertone the food also includes other Mediterranean influences on top of the chef’s Korean background and is often given a modern kick. The Paella on Sunday is a great example of this as it seems to change slightly every week but is always delicious and often includes Asian sauces on the side, which seems crazy but works so well. I’ve been here a few times and tried a number of dishes and have never been disappointed. The menu has changed slightly since I last visited so I won’t go into detail. Everyone seems to love patatas bravas and the squid ink sandwich was also a real highlight. The drinks list is also a strength of Bar Torinos with great cocktails, wine and beers available (on tap as well as bottled) and pretty solid coffees.

Service:
Bar Torino offers table service if you don’t want to get up and order at the bar which I find is great on a Sunday arvo recovering from a Saturday night. In fact it’s always great, no one likes getting up and walking like a pleb. All the staff are really knowledgeable and friendly.

Ambience:
In my humble opinion this is one of the most attractive bars I’ve been to in the state or even the country. It’s a gorgeous mix of new and old - a feast for the eyes.

Dish to look out for:
Paella on Sundays!
Sam
Food was great. Service lacked a bit and it wasn't clear whether we go up and order or they come to you. Tapas style menu which was tasty, however quite pricey for what you got. Not enough bread or cheese for the price. Payment system was a bit confusing as its a tab or go up and pay, once again didn't quite have the service to explain that. Place was nice with outside outside seating!

The former deli next to Chianti has transformed into a sophisticated tapas bar with a quality fit out and quality food. It’s brought to us by the Favaro family of Chianti fame, and it’s truly a family affair with son and daughter Nick and Jess running the place. It has a contemporary look and feel with a combination of exposed brick, black and white, and attention to the little things like the plates and cutlery.

Only recently found out about this place. The Food here was so tasty! We ordered almost everything on the menu from small bites to the mains. Will definitely be back.

Great tapas and great menu. Very enjoyable meal

Lovely wine - food is expensive so don't go there being too hungry

Angela Holmes. Just a great place to enjoy...staff are very attentive, menu is interesting and it was delectable! Wine menus is extensive. Just go and enjoy.

One of my favourite spots. Great food. Great wine and prices and staff friendly and welcoming. Well done to you all. We'll keep coming back.
Peter Klaosen
Great fit out and vibe . Lovely staff. Affordable wine list. I saw the review that said the dishes were small. Well the prices are small too and it does not pretend to be a fully blown restaurant. Go next door to Chianti if you want that. A lovely spot for a quiet drink and some lovely food to share in relaxed surroundings. The place is all class.
Tom.dizzy.davis
Some of the best food in Adelaide. Excellent food, wine and service. Would highly recommend. Dishes were great for sharing, was an excellent dining experience for my friends and I.

Huge contradiction. Great location, fit out, look and feel...

Unfortunately the meal serves were far too small, menu is overly complicated and service has been slow.

This place has sooooo much potential but has failed to hit the mark in their early days. A big contradiction between potential and actual.
Dennis
Tasty small food that will delight. My wife and I had the absolute pleasure of a late dinner at Bar Torino tonight and we are not disappointed. The Bar does clever, tasty small plate good and decent prices and the chef is a real star. Taking a seat at the bench seats across from the bar we perused the tapas menu and ordered two drinks from the cheerful bartender. We ordered the fresh tuna, Korean toastie, Jamon on toast and tortilla. Half the fun was watching chef whip these morsels up in his tiny kitchen alongside the bar. Each dish seemed to improve on the one previous. We finished with a Nutella panacotta, a fitting finish to a five star meal. Thank you Bar Torino. Glad to have made our only dinner while on vacation in Adelaide at your establishment .

From the son and daughter of the owners of Chianti Classico comes Bar Torino, a new vermouth and tapas bar which is located right next door to the successful and acclaimed establishment. Bringing the best of both Italian and Spanish cuisine, the menu offers a selection of snacks, cured meats, tapas dishes, larger dishes, sweets and cheeses.
